I've been wanting to try this place for a while. I pass by there on a nearly daily basis, so the temptation is always there. I finally gave in to that temptation. I walked into the establishment, completely decorated by license plates from probably every state, and it was much cleaner than I was expecting it to be. I looked over the menu, and the girl at the counter was super helpful and was able to confidently and competently answer every question I had, regardless of how obvious the answer was. Now, normally when I go for barbecue, I tend to gravitate toward the brisket, but on this day, I chose the pulled pork sandwich, and this was a decision I didn't regret. This was hands down the best pulled pork I've eaten, juicy, flavorful, and smoky. The sauce, made in house, was the perfect compliment to the meat. I chose potato salad and baked beans as my sides, both of which were absolutely fantastic! The potato salad was very fresh and well seasoned. The beans were also very good, made with the same sauce on the sandwich, but with a little zing to them that gives them a bit of a kick. My third trip here and the smoked chicken was better than any I've ever had. Extremely moist and tender with just the right amount of hickory smoked flavor. We both had the pulled chicken plates with slaw and okra. Everything was delicious and made to order. On my first and second trips I had the brisket and it was pretty good as well although it pales in comparison. Bama Bobs would probably rank top five in my book for BBQ joints. Great job guys! The food is ALWAYS excellent! Except the Garlic Mashed Potatoes, I eat garlic in almost everything, everyday...but I couldn't eat the potatoes. Their Ice Tea is so delicious and refreshing! Fantastic barbecue! We stopped on a road trip after finding recommendations from other Yelp users and were blown away by the delicious flavors of every item we ordered, meats and sides. The beef brisket was particularly delicious. And the sauce, to die for! It was so nice eating outside, though you also can eat indoors. Best of all was the service and meeting Bob, who was tremendously eager to make sure we were well fed and happy with our dining choices. We're now dreaming of a return trip. After my son got his high school diploma, he and I were sent out for ice while his post graduation party was being put together. "Want some pork nachos?" he asked as we cruised down Dauphin Island Parkway. A few mins later we pull into this tiny out of the way BBQ joint with a giant bull's head as a sign. Fighting off the biggest eye roll ever, I go in for the two meat and two sides. My son knows exactly what he wants and jumps in for the pork nachos. Each bite of bbq brisket and bbq chicken was pretty amazing... Although I'd avoid the bbq beans next time as they weren't my favorite. Service was excellent. The young lady at the counter was so polite and very pleasant. For food I ordered the brisket plate and added a rib. The rib was tender and almost fell off the bone. The amount of brisket was substantial and I had enough for another meal later and some for my two small pups when I got home. However, the brisket seemed to be a bit on the dry side. For sides I had the baked beans which were exactly how I like them. I also had the green beans which surprised me that they were a bit peppery. Bama Bob's ribs were exceptional have a great color, nice crisp, smoky but not over powering and very tender without falling apart. Brisket had a great bark and tender without being mushy or overly greasy. Sauce was a little thick but had good flavor and definitely southern. I rank Bama Bobs in my top 5. read more

My husband and I stopped in while we were on vacation from SC. The food was amazing and the service was fast and friendly. I had the brisket tacos and my husband had the pulled pork baked potato. He had to take the half of rack of ribs to go because the potatoe filled him up. It was so much food and packed full of flavor. Will come back next time we visit. read more
