    Taco Tuesday!!!

When you think about a cook out back home, you can picture Bama Bob's. When you walk in the door you are greeted with a smile and a hello, if you come back more than once.. they know your name. If they happen to mess up your order, which is rare, they go above and beyond to make it right! Even if it's making a delivery across town! The owner of this place takes pride in his work and the food that he provides to his customers. The portions are above and beyond what you could would ever receive ANYWHERE! Not only does he take pride, so does his employees. They make you feel like family. Now let's talk about the food!!! Holy COW! Or Brisket!! The best hickory smoked meat I have ever put in my mouth! The ribs are fall off the bone tender! And the loaded potatoes, you can easily make two meals off of one. This quaint little restaurant, with a Bull on the front and car tags from all over the USA cover the outside and inside, will provide you with fast and AMAZING food! Trust me, you want to go see Bama Bob and take a picture with the Bull.

I moved from Georgia, where I was saturated with good BBQ restaurants. Bama Bob's is by far the best I've had.

The customer service was fabulous, and we had Jarvis assisting us. He kept his rather entertained keeping our water filled. If you need a recommendation from Jarvis,-' definitely get the water .' You can see the big grill where all the meat is smoked. Our table of six had an assortment of combo meals from the pulled chicken to the ribs to the half chicken to the smoked sausage, even a baked potato. I forget the name of the dessert we tried, but it was good. It was almost like a chocolate mousse. I didn't have the iced tea, but it seemed to be popular there. I really enjoyed that mac & cheese, it was really creamy and typically don't have mac and cheese. The coleslaw was good too! The beans were a bit too sweet for many at the table. I wasn't a huge fan of the vinegar styled barbecue sauce, but I'm glad I tried it. Yeah, atmosphere is welcoming, and I would recommend trying out their barbecue in the future if you're in the area.

They are a bbq place so of course I ordered the rib plate. The menu I saw said it came with 2 sides but when I was on the phone the man said the plate came with vinegar based coleslaw. I don't normally do coleslaw but I didn't want to complicate things so I went with it. That completed my order so I headed down to pick it up. I wasn't sure of the atmosphere of this place since it was my first time ordering. I got there and it seemed like a cozy little place to eat. There appeared to be limited parking. There is space in the back and on the side. I parked on the side of the building. When I was approaching the front of the place I saw that one of the windows had been knocked out. There was glass laying below the window. Also, the part of the deck right before you walk in the door was a little unstable. Not sure if this was apart of the ambiance but it didn't deter me. Anyway my order was waiting when I got to the cashier. The ride home smelled delightful. The first thing I did when I got home was try the coleslaw. It didn't look all too appealing but it was coleslaw. Coleslaw in my estimation is not a food that is aesthetically appealing. Anyway, the coleslaw was edible to me even though I'm not a coleslaw person. I wouldn't recommend it to people who don't like coleslaw. Next up, the ribs. They looked amazing. They had some little burnt parts that make it authentic bbq. I should've tried them without the sauce but I poured the sauce on first. The sauce and the ribs were excellent. The sauce was a mustard based sauce and it was delicious. The weren't especially juicy since they were babyback ribs but the taste was excellent. And the French bread and the little onions added a nice little touch to the plate. All in all I'll give my experience 4 stars. I wasn't quite sure what was going on with the building. Was it broken into or not? That did take a bit from my score but the food and service aspect of it was top notch. Go to Bay Barbecue. You won't be disappointed.

I ordered the sampler platter with four sides and cornbread for $35 before tax. Let me tell you, I got home and opened up the platter and then all the sides, and I knew this was about to be good. The pulled pork doesn't need any sauce; it doesn't need anything. It has flavor in every bite. Not one piece is dried out, then I ate one of them sausages....... these will be the death of me, the sausage was perfectly cooked I don't know if they make them but man that flavor with the smoke hit me like a flyball, the ribs, fell off the bone, these ribs are so good they give big known restaurants a run for their money and then the chicken, how do they get that skin so crispy and not Burnt or dried out that chicken is nostalgic. Let's get into these sides GET THE GREEN BEANS!!! Goodness, that flavor can awaken a sleeping person, so get them! Potato salad is very good. I love the freshness of the onion and how it was not oversalted. You could add more if you want, but it's very good! Baked beans--no words. The flavor is undeniably fantastic, and the savory richness with a little kick is so good. I mixed a bit of potato salad with the beans, and oh my!!! Mac and cheese will have you aching for more. The pepper was not overwhelming, just a perfect amount of spice, and the creaminess was in every bite; not one bite was plain. All the macaroni was covered in cheese as it should be. Lastly, every bite of cornbread had me grinning from ear to ear. Definitely try this spot out. This meal is enough to feed two adults and two teenagers, and no one will be disappointed or feel hungry! Check out their sitting area. I love the fans to keep the bugs away, and all the shade! I was finally able to make a point of making a special trip over there on a Saturday late afternoon. Unfortunately it still wasn't the best timing for a first trip or making a review as we were limited to what we could order based on the fact that their hours state they close at 5 but they shut the kitchen down at 4:30 and we got there just after 4. It's hard going out for dinner to a place that closes at 4:30. I ordered a sausage sandwich which to my delight was not the monotonous Conecuh. It was really good and reminiscent of some of the whole in the wall places in Texas that does good sausage. The only draw back was that being near closing time they didn't have links but was able to do slices. It was good but hard to eat. My hubs got chicken and ribs. I liked the ribs... they still had some bite, tender but not falling apart, and the smoke is mild, not overkill like so many other places do. Hubs wasn't a huge fan of but I thought they were nice. The chicken was on the dry side, but I never go to a bbq joint to order chicken so it's not a deal breaker for me. The only major downer was that all of our sides seemed to be standard pre-made and ordered items, not made in-house. I also liked the hole in the wall vibe, the friendly staff, and the divine smoke aroma that lets you know you're in the right bbq joint. All in all I enjoyed their Q and will need to go back when I can get the timing right to sample their steam table offerings.

Overall, I'd give the experience a solid 4 out of 5. The ribs were the highlight -- flavorful, tender, and had a satisfying bite without being fall-off-the-bone (which I actually prefer). They also gave a good portion, which made it feel like a great value. I'd rate them a 4.5/5 for sure. The sides were a bit underwhelming. The mac and cheese was decent but nothing special. The baked beans were flavorful but still tasted like they just added some onions and peppers to a can of beans. I'd give the sides a 3/5. Service was decent for a pickup order. The woman who took my call didn't sound particularly thrilled, but she got the job done efficiently. 4/5 for service. The ambiance, based on what I saw while picking up, fits the classic country BBQ vibe. Cozy and no-frills in a good way. Clean and authentic. I'd say 4.5/5. I'd definitely come back, especially to try the buffet next time. There's more on the menu I'm curious about.
