I attempted to order a Samsung TV on Amazon during their Black Friday Deals. The third-party seller that was supposed to handle the delivery was named Modia. Amazon and Modia immediately charged my card. However, Modia never delivered my tv. The delivery date was continuously pushed back with no communication regarding why. At one point, a delivery driver texted me saying they wanted to deliver the TV "tomorrow," but I was unavailable at the recommended time. Later that week, I asked when delivery would be attempted again. Modia then made up a story about the tv being magically damaged so they were having it RE-shipped from a far away location. After 3 weeks of delays between Nov.21 - Dec. 9, I finally demanded a refund. The refund was completed. Then I posted a negative review on Amazon explaining that Modia never delivered my tv. Modia then called me repeatedly, asking me to take down my negative review in exchange for a $200 gift card. If you view Modia's customer reviews on Amazon you will see numerous 1 star reviews that now have a strikethrough them because those customers likely agreed to remove their accurate negative review. read more

I ordered a wall mount for my TV 10 days ago, They were quick to charge my credit card but not to ship my mount. I have emailed to no avail. No response. They have gone dark. I have sent emails in hopes of resolving my issue but nothing from them. Short of getting a definitive answer I will be disputing my charge with my credit card company. Terrible customer service. Modia is a very "well oiled" operation !. Everything from the initial visit with Peter to select the TV, the actual installation of the new TV (and re-location of existing TVs) through to the aftersales service with Prashant and Peter - FIRST CLASS !. The installation efforts deserve special mention. John and Tristan did a fantastic job from start to finish recognizing the safety hazards of carrying the new TV to the upstairs location paying particular attention to the laydown areas for tools etc during assembly and installation - the latter of which was not as straightforward as anticipated due to different fastener configurations for the existing wall mount - BUT the hallmark of a good installer is that the guys came prepared with a range of brackets, screws etc to complete the work - WELL DONE !! read more

This place has really nice speakers, but they do not have a wide selection of various brands, so there isn't much comparison shopping to be done, and I really want to comparison shop. They didn't have as many listening-rooms as I would have liked, and I would like to have listened to all they had to offer in store. When making such a purchase, I need to sample the sound. Nonetheless, what they have sounds great, really great. Some speakers are at lower costs (low 200s) and still sound fantastic. It did take a while to be approached by the staff for assistance, but when they helped us, they were quite knowledgeable and friendly. I did not purchase speakers; I only browsed. read more

Robert Chiusano, the Installation Manager, completed the installation of 3 TV's at our home on Mar 14, 2018. He arrived on time and continued until EVERYTHING was complete: a 5 + hour task. When all the mechanical work was done, Robert then took the time to lead us by the hand in understanding how to use the different remotes for the 3 systems. I recently purchased a new tv for my house along with a sound bar and sub woofer from Modia. I dealt with Peter and the owner. They both took the time to explain the differences to my wife and I about different tv's and the benefits of one another. To me not being the most tech savvy person I'm sure asking 2 million questions they really helped me find what was best for us. They didn't try to sell me the most expensive tv in the store either. Their customer service to us was great, the installation and teaching us how to use the tv definitely came a long way. This company is not qualified in my opinion to do installations. The projectors and screens are of excellent quality. The switching system is not capable of providing the service to control the system. After spending 3 mo. trying to get owner Prashant to correct the flaws of the system they just walked away and would not even respond to our emails. We are having to bring in another company to correct the flaws in the system they installed. The salesman (in my opinion) that recommended the installation is not qualified nor does he have the knowledge to recommend a system that would function correctly. This company (in my opinion) does not have the character or the integrity to warrant any consideration for doing business with them. I would highly recommend if you are installing a system of any level of sophistication to avoid this company all together. read more

AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!! I am not the only one who suggests this -- see Rick P's review below... Scheduled a TV wall mount and soundbar install. The day of the install, I took off work and waited for hours and they never showed. It was booked through Amazon, and Amazon said they would review the company to be taken off the list of installers on their Home Services list. Left six or seven messages over several days, including emails to Modia. None were returned. I found someone else to do the install without any problems. The moment I put my Yelp review up, they called and offered to pay me what it cost me to have the install done by the other company. They asked me to please remove the rating. Reluctantly, I agreed as I thought they were trying to correct their mistake. For two days, they called reminding me, "the check is in the mail, have you removed the negative review?" The manager there is named Avin (713-933-0722). He never sent the check, even though I had initially updated the review to positive. I called him several times, left messages, etc. I thought maybe it got lost in the mail. Nope. Now he won't return my calls. With all the options for stereo equipment, home theater, installation services, this is the LAST company I would ever waste my time TRYING to use. Look elsewhere and save yourself a headache. I spent hours and hours and accomplished nothing. Note to whoever reads this at Modia: Do not call me to try to bribe me to change this review again. It's not happening. The product reps for the equipment manufacturers they represent deserve to know what is happening (or NOT happening) when dealing with this company. Responded to ads for Modia warehouse sale on Hornwood in Houston. Products were marked as open box, used, floor model, or new. Purchased a Samsung HDTV as NEW, one of several, sealed in box. At home, opened the box and it was obvious someone tried to make it look like factory packaging. Seals were broken and parts were missing. A representative returned our call. In response to missing parts they advised a return visit to the warehouse and they'd "try to find something that would work." They declined to provide a new product. During the sales process they were friendly; after the sale they were hostile and used intimidation tactics. Save your time and money by going anywhere else. read more

I have passed by the MODIA store many times, during the course of my visits to Houston. This time specifically I was shopping to get a new HD TV, a purchase I was excited about. Before visiting the MODIA showroom I went to a few other retailers in the area. I was struggling to find the best brand and understand the latest technology in TV's. I went to 2 retail chain stores very well known in the area and to my utter disappointment; I wasn't able to get any kind of focused personal attention at either of the other stores. So I walked into MODIA, ( I will be honest) with the intention of window shopping since I was sure that the prices here would be higher than any other store given the reputation they have around the best, most exclusive, high end models and white glove service. From the minute I walked in, it clearly felt like I was in a different world. I was allowed to browse a little before a sales person came and greeted me and asked me if he could help. He was obviously well versed with the product and the technology. I told him I wanted to buy a 75 inch HD TV and he asked me to consider the installation spaces at my home, which I had not thought of at all! Based upon further thought I realized that I needed a smaller TV, more like the 65 inch. Based upon the knowledge that he had, I realized I was not looking for the right model for my space requirements. He showed me the curved HD in addition to the flat panel and took me through the comparison on both. Clearly I wanted the curved TV, which was only a couple hundred dollars more expensive than the one I had thought of. The entire experience was unhurried and very relaxed. The best part was the competitive prices. For the kind of high end models and exclusive service I was so pleased, that I wasn't spending any more than what I would have at the other retailers. The store has the high end brands and models among TVs and all other products. The manager also gave me a small "tour" of other different rooms that had different product layouts complete with speakers, amplifiers et all, but sadly out of my budget. I told him that and he was still extremely helpful and told me that didn't matter! They knew they had a customer for life. The good old days of great customer service are back! The visit was over. The next day, the installation staff came in with the delivery truck. They spent significant time going over the layout with me including the mounting, wires etc. and then proceeded to complete the installation. The space looked spic and span after they left - the boxes carried out, the old TV gone, the wires tucked away behind the mount and the landscape looked like the TV had fit right in! I thought the whole installation was going to be stressful but to my surprise it was extremely fun! I discovered MODIA after I have spent a lot of years in the area. I should have gone earlier - I will not hesitate for a minute to recommend MODIA to all my fellow Yelpers! This store has been renamed Modia, I think it's the new name for all of the Home Theater Stores. This place is deceiving from the outside, it's very large inside with several rooms to demo various home theater systems. When I first walked in there was no one to help me so I had to wonder the store to find someone. I was looking for replacement speakers for my surround sound system, the sales associate was very helpful in explaining the different speakers and that I probably needed to purchase a new receiver as well. This is a higher end store and the prices reflect it, but there was never any sales pressure. They will also come out to your house and give you an estimate. read more

These guys are so disorganized I'm suprised they are in business. They have the product lines I like from high end providers but they can't tie chew gum and walk at the same time. I was scheduled for an install of prodcut I ordered several weeks ago and after several confiming calls and the salesman telling me all the product is in they calle dme just hours before to tell they were missing some of my order. We then rescheduled and the driver shows up without hafl the order. Then they hot shotted what they thought was the remainder of the order and it was wrong. I can't stand this place. We went with Modia because of the customized experience and overall customer service. They sold us at the beginning. As soon as we started having problems, however, the customer service changed. It was almost as if they didn't believe we were having issues with our setup. I cringe every time I have to call them - on top of it, when I do call them, it costs me $200 to actually schedule a service call. They didn't call me back with a schedule, they just showed up at my door unannounced days later. Because their universal remote is their custom software, anytime we have any issues, we are forced to call them. I am tempted to throw away the $2500 I spent on "initial setup and programming" and buy my own universal remote to never have to deal with them again. read more

Upon my asking what the model number was so that I could make sure that it was the model that I was looking for, the person on the phone tells me that he wasn't going to give me the model number just so that I could use him to shop around! I've done my research and Modia does in fact have the lowest prices available. I believe they are a good business but this doesn't change my experience that I've had with them that day. I walked in one Sunday afternoon to take a look at some bowers and wilkins speakers. The salesman was very well versed with the products and the installation specifics of each brand. He asked me to consider the installation spaces at my condo that I had not thought of at all. Ultimately based upon the knowledge that he had, I realized I was not looking for the right model for my space requirements. Though the salesman might have talked himself and MODIA out of a sale, he was forthright and transparent and giving me the facts. I liked that. The store has a nice sofa in the room and I sat down and had a unhurried chat with the sales guy. Very cool. I saw a couple of other customers doing the same in other rooms. I did not buy anything but I recommend the store if you want some good information on what to buy before you buy it. read more

I was attempting to get advice on completing my home theatre in my new home. So i came to the Modia location in Southlake. Since this was a new home i wanted to by quality equipment and thought that this was a great place to visit. I was only partially right. I had already purchased my projector and was now looking for a fixed frame screen, audio equipmeny and speakers. (My dedicated theatre room was pre-wired for speakers.) My wife and i walked around the store for a few minutes before anyone approached us. I liked the no pressure approach and commented on that. After the sales person bashed a couple other "box" stores like Best Buy, which he said he previously worked, he showed me around. To make a long story short, the sales person offered to sell me an " out of box" 110" Stewart screen at a discount. I wanted the screen but after 6 days ogf phone calls and waiting for the warehouse manager to confirm that the screen was still available, icalled the Plano store. I asked for that sales person to check on the "out of box" screen. Which he did. He noted 2 screens but stated that they were spoken for back in July but had not been accepted by the customer. He could not help me any further. I then contacted the online customer service unit. I traded messages with this person. They asked for my name and number and stated that the manager from the Houston location would call me. That was almost 4 days ago. This business appears to have quality products. But incompetent people supporting sales and operations. Don't waste your time dealing with this company unless you purchase something off the floor and carry it out the door with you. read more

I recently used Modia to do an AV system design and install in my living room. They were fantastic to work with from start to finish and their pricing was competitive. My job wasn't a large one, but I received very helpful input and follow-up from start to finish. I stopped by Modia and met with owner Prashant Mody to discuss my project... the following Sunday I texted him and asked if he could come by sometime on Monday to look at the room & my current equipment... a couple of hours later (on a Sunday afternoon!) Prashant was in my house listening to my ideas & then providing great input & suggestions. Following that meeting he made some AV equipment suggestions and helped me hone in on a great solution using: (1) Some of my existing audio components (2) New AV items (3) A used B&W center speaker that would work well w/ my existing B&W towers. Price wise Modia was competitive with both Big Box and Internet options for a 75" Sony TV, Marantz AV Amp / Pre-Amp, Apple TV, etc. etc. When we first met Prashant had told me that his prices would be competitive, but I was skeptical until he provided a cost estimate for my project. In my case the required behind the wall wiring was done by a contractor that was already working at my home, but the required wiring & cabling equipment and the location details were via Modia. When it came time for equipment install the main installer Robert did a bang-up job... quality work, took time to tweak the system, good job w/ the remote programming and cleaned-up everything upon his departure. I've had experience with other AV companies, and had no major issues but it was nothing like the service & competitive pricing that I received from Modia. Overall a stellar experience and I'll be using the Modia team to do some work in another area of my home soon. read more

They were very professional & helpful. They recommended the best system, that fits our budget & requirements. I wouldn't imagine great sound, if I had picked up my own. They helped me lot. I am looking to upgrade my sound system and when you are paying the price of a entry level sedan for a pair of speakers it's expected to get good customer service. The older gentleman sales rep said after he finished demoing a pair of b&w 803 d3 $17k a pair that i just wasted his time im buying an upgrade for my home and there is nothing worse than to be the insulted for being a smart consumer. Don't be the victim of this fraud business , a few weeks ago I bought a C48 Mcintosh Preamplier and was told the Unit will be have three years warranty from Mcintosh, when I registered for product waranty with Mcintosh and received the email back from Mcintosh and was told that Modia was discontinued as dealer for Mcintosh since april 2016 and My c48 will not be coverage for warrant from Mcintosh , I bring My c48 back to Modia store at Sounthlake Tx, They do not let Me return the Unit and told Me will talk with Mcintosh for warranty , I have waiting Modia to call me but they never call Me , I called Modia at Southlake TX but never can talk with the saleman , I was alway advised that the saleman off this day or went out for lunch , I am so frustrate with this Modia and never buy anything from Modia anymore. read more

Placed an order in Amazon.com for a Samsung 3D HDTV. The order was placed in Jan 28, 2012 and according to the tracking info received, they will try to deliver my item on Feb 15, 2012. Modia uses to deliver the customer's order what seems to be a moving company, or something of that sort. According to a phone call from the delivery (or rather moving) company, my HDTV has been sitting in my area for more than a week, but cannot be delivered until Feb 15 as mentioned above. It is obvious that these people do not have the resources to delivery the way real delivery companies does business. I have ordered other big or heavy items from Amazon.com and other companies, just to have them showing at my door within 3 days. Unless Samsung has an assembly plant in Jupiter or another galaxy, it is unacceptable that I need to wait more than 2 weeks to get something shipped from TX to NC. Specially when the item is already here in my area for more than 1 week already. My advice: stay away from this company. Who knows, now, in what condition my HDTV is going to be like. Keeping my fingers crossed that it is Ok when it gets to my place. read more

Following the Harvey Flood, we upgraded two of our systems with new equipment. As usual with custom type installations, there is always post-installation tune-ups that are needed. Peter (in the Westheimer Store location) was fantastic in trying to solve our operating issues....very service oriented. The installer, Robert, came back to the house and personally committed to solving the final issue with the TV. He explained exactly the procedures that he was performing, spent time to fully explain the operations of the equipment, and was professional in his manner. I entered the Legacy Plano Modia store today hoping to upgrade my Control4 system from 2.10 to 3.0 and other upgrades. I asked about upgrading my system from a troublesome HDMI Matrix switch to a new 8x16 system which would be an $8K+ update. I also asked about updates for various functions for my 10 room house. I was originally greeted by a helpful salesperson (Ben) and we setup a time to someone to come onsite to evaluate my current Control4 system and update. Not only did we schedule it, they made me pay for it for a $300+ visit only up front. After paying for it, I received an email hours later saying they no longer wanted to come to my house because I said I found a better price on a new NEEO remote control they wanted to charge me $600 for and I found it for $350, and which was not even part of the original quote. I was fully prepared to pay the $300 plus costs for visiting and also paying the extra amount (without question) for upgrading my system. The owner, Prashant, has no understanding of customer service or understanding of technology and I fully expect (and hope) his company to fail due to terrible customer service and lies. Wish i read the reviews on Modia before ordering a 60"Samsung tv from them on Amazon.....reviews on this company are less than desirable. I ordered the T.V on 12/18 , received an email that item was shipped out on the 19th, then received a phone call on the 21st telling me they were sorry the item has been damaged and they will have to cancel my order and refund my money. THIS is not acceptable nor do I believe what they are saying after reading these other reviews. I will report this to all necessary agencies and make sure I post my experience on every site I can so others to not make the same mistake. These guys are the biggest rip off ever! After threatening to sue them to get money back from work they never performed at my house but charged me for, (yes, they charge you upfront for services and then never performed) I met with the manager of the Westheimer store Mike Barron (who did not show up for the first appointment) and he promised a refund for the never performed services. He said he would credit it to my credit card but it never happened. They do not care about their work and their installers do not know what they are doing. I went with Houston Custom Installers and they fixed everything in one day and everything works great.I spent over $4000 for installation alone on two 52 inch TV that I bought from Modia and they never could get teh system to work right after 6 separate visits that they charged me for each time. Run as fast as you can from these guys. Rip off artists. read more

I have bought four tv's, a sound system and two Blu Ray disc players from Modia over the years, and I can say without qualification that they offer the worst service of any retailer I have ever dealt with! Once the sale is completed they have no use for you. I tried for six weeks to get them to send a technician for repairs I would be happy to pay for, it was never able to actually schedule anything. They promise to call you back, but never do. They might have been better back in 2015, but in 2016 they should be avoided at all costs. read more

Great products but horrible service. If you are buying something they are very helpful. But don't try to get anything serviced by them. I spent over $30,000 on a home theater system and after a few years needed help with repairing a component. They refused to offer any assistance at all. We made the mistake of going to Modia without reading all the negative comments some customers have posted. We could have saved ourselves a trip. The guy who showed us around had a condescending attitude, was extremely reluctant to give much info about the products they had on display lest we chose to buy the product from a better store with better people serving the customers. Modia does not honor its pricing. I have tried to resolve a complaint with Modia since Thankgiving. I ordered 3 TVs online through their website. I found a special deal for an LG TV for $99. They cancelled the order with no explanation. After multiple attempts to resolve, I have given up on Modia forever. Customer service says a manager will call but never does. Be warned. If you get a good price, you will likely never receive your order. They caused me to miss out on lots of other specials while trying to get them to honor my order. I will not be doing business with Modia ever again. read more

I bought a McIntosh receiver from them a year ago this past Feb. Since then the dealer is no longer an authorized McIntosh dealer. I recently had a firmware issue with the unit and took it back to them since it was under warranty. Reflashing the firmware required an authorized service center to handle. Even though they were no longer an authorized dealer MDIA did everything they could to be sure my unit was fixed and back to working order as it was the day I bought it. Matt, the sales mgr., and Mr. Mody, the owner, did handle this in a professional manner and took care of me as a customer and even delivered the unit to my home since I was 48 miles from them. I tried another McIntosh dealer (big box store) but was rejected after sitting 2 weeks at their location, since I did not purchase the piece from them (remember - unit was still under warranty). I have done much business in the past with MODIA and will continue to do so - customer service is one of the long lost parameters in the world of internet sales. I much prefer a brick and mortar store to hand my hard earned money over to, especially at the level of audio that I like. read more

Unfortunately Amazon.com is using Modia as a supplier, while guaranteeing the process. I bought a Sony HDTV online from Modia/amazon but when it arrived it was clear that the box had been opened previously, packing materials were broken up, and setup instructions wrinkled. I phoned and phoned the number listed and no one ever answered. Finally I submitted a complain through Amazon and at first a guy at Modia with a heavy accent (everyone there seems to be from India) denied that the box was for a demo, but when I told him I took photos of the tape on the box and of every step of opening it up (never bothered to take out the tv), he said that a "mistake" on their part must have been made and what could they do to "put a smile on my face" and "make me happy." I got an RA to return the product but then had to phone Amazon again to get them to lean on Modia. Modia said that they would have the unit by Saturday (sure, Fed Ex doesn't deliver then), and so I checked tracking to find out it wouldn't reach them (since they are paying for the cheapest delivery schedule) till Tues. Then even if they issue a credit to my credit card on that day it likely will take 72 hours to appear on my account. Maybe folk in Houston ought to look into INS violations and get this crew deported for criminal activities. read more
