I have a old Sony 300 CD Carousel that brought in for repair. I was reluctant to leave my unit, because when you pull up to the location they will not allow you to go inside the building. In fact you have to call them at the gate that surrounds the building. They only do curbside drop off of your equipment which I thought was odd. I spoke to the guy and stated that it was an old unit and did he really think he could repair my unit. He stated that was "what they do" and only if the customer doesn't want to invest in the repair is generally when they don't repair the unit. I didn't want to pay the $125 charge up front and only $50 would be applied to the repair after the diagnostics. He emphasized that they had been in business for 30 years so I decided to leave my unit. About 3 WEEKS later he calls and says that the parts aren't available and if he got a used unit with parts that it probably would not be worth it. I was willing to pay what was needed to get it repaired. I would NEVER recommend this company, I wish I had followed my first thoughts and declined his services. I just feel that I was ripped off. These NEGATIVE reviews are real. They probably can do some repairs on various units, but I wouldn't trust them as a best practice. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I called APM to ask them a very specific question about a Pioneer Blu Ray Player. Essentially, is the power supply for a specific model available. I was informed by a very rude person that answered the phone that I would need to give them $150 to answer that question! When I said that I was willing to pay them if they can fix the unit I would gladly pay them. She insisted that they needed the $150 to answer my question. I came by to repair a Yamaha M-50 amplifier in 2021. I left the Amp, a bag full of parts to recap it that I already had and the $125 fee for looking at the amp and giving a quote for the repair and recap. I live in another country and go frequently to Houston as I told Angel face to face then we shook hands and I never got a call from them, despite leaving all my info. After several months of trying to reach APM by phone and email I finally got through in June last year. I was told I needed to cough up another $400+ to get the parts necessary for the repair, so I asked for the correct email address, which was the same I had been using all along and wrote an email asking for the details. I never got a reply and now almost two years later I can tell for a fact that I lost my amp, my $125 and the parts I brought in, since Angel's wife told me over the phone the last time I called that too much time had gone by and they had disposed of my amp. I wrote again, begging to get my things back on their website and by email, but so far nothing. I want to thank APM for teaching me a valuable lesson in life. read more

Called in many times to get my DJ Controller inspected because I was told I had to do so by Pioneer Support before they are able to determine if I needed a replacement device or not. The lady that answers the phone asked me what I need after I explained to her what I was informed to do by Pioneer Support. She follows up being extremely rude after I told her it was my first time using the service there. They did not care about my issue and went straight to telling me I needed to pay $125 just to get the device looked at. Besides the inspection fee I was already aware that I would have to pay to ship the device in. Given that the DDJ-FLX4 was only introduced 8 months ago, no unit on the market is beyond the warranty period, but she didn't bother to ask me to provide proof of purchase or any other info. She also made told me that the company has nothing to do with Pioneer Limited Warranty and that I would have to call Pioneer myself (Which I already did and they send you back to APM if that is the closest repair center to you) Pioneer has informed me that I'll have to communicate with APM to determine why they're asking for a payment if the repair is in-warranty. I bought this device in brand new in December 2022 and only got to use it for less than a month before it started malfunctioning. I am extremely frustrated with how they talk to you and treat you and still have not been able to get any assistance with the attitude. read more

Onkyo receiver was left for repairs. After 3 weeks, it was returned with the problem still not corrected. APM said they could not find the problem, and it was working. After reconn the receiver, it had the exact same problem dropping the sound. I since purchased a new receiver, and the problem disappeared. Poor service, and Onkyo is poor quality. read more

Stay Away from them all together!!! They were the nearest Onkyo warranty repair company near us so I boxed everything up and sent it to them. As soon as it arrived, they called and said packaging wasn't good enough and it was destroyed. This was a $400 surround sound. And post office would not pay the insurance because APM said packaging wasn't good enough. In the pics that Angel whoever sent from APM, it looked the same as when I sent it. BEWARE, shady business run by unprofessional people. No coincidence this is a 2-star business, read the reviews- similar and troubling. They operate as a monopoly as the sole authorized warranty repair servicer for Pioneer DJ in the entire state of Texas and treat customers as such. There is insufficient documentation of your items, refusal to provide anything more than a business card as they take your item inside from a HOLE in a gate at the sidewalk, no e-mail access only phone with a rude woman named Mary Lou who controls the phone traffic, incomplete website lacking ANY information about Pioneer DJ intake procedure, or fees and policies, and customers have no idea what's going on inside as no customers are allowed inside, sidewalk transactions only. They refused to give any printout/email of item documentation and claimed to have no printer. Little accountability and dismissive about their lack of transparency. When I voiced concerns about the assurance of my item and requested more documentation than just a business card, like a receipt, an invoice, something of substance, Mary Lou and a voice claiming to be a manager "Jessica" said "If you don't trust us, why did you give us your stuff?" which is a suspicious response as opposed to, "No problem, we'll send you the documentation." The person who grabbed my gear said they have several of the same model of my item laying around unrepaired for several months, so don't expect mine anytime soon, deeply concerning--again, the ONLY authorized warranty repair place in Texas, they can treat you as poorly as they would like. What guarantee do I have of what they are doing inside with my gear and my item's components? When calling for further documentation, they stated they would no longer service my item, BUT would NOT release my item that same day when I asked for it, despite it being morning and assuring it was not worked on/ opened up and allegedly sitting untouched. The "MANAGER Jessica" claimed she doesn't know the safe combination and can't access my item even if she wanted to, and withheld its release for a whole day until the next day--again, very suspect and no idea what's going on inside. When I got my item back unrepaired, LO AND BEHOLD, a PRINTOUT claim check from a computer, which Mary Lou claimed they didn't have is not something they do and refused to provide a copy of when asked multiple times and they kept internally, which contains information on FEES you can incur for your item, how to inquire about your repair, potential STORAGE CHARGES, and a clause for "disposal" of your item if you fail to pick it up after notification. That's right disposal... AND a place for a customer to sign, left BLANK, but dated, and kept internally in their location, SHADY. THE CUSTOMER DOES NOT GET ANY OF THIS INFORMATION AT DROP OFF- EVEN IF YOU DEMAND IT, just a business card. This business operates with it's customers in the dark. I spoke to the owner of the only other authorized repair location in Texas which recently stopped their servicing of Pioneer DJ products (leaving us with only APM) who said he received many angry customers he had referred to APM, and that many relayed to him accounts of shady/bad dealings with APM when trying to get their product serviced. This place is not worth the shadiness and lack of transparency. Update after owner response: WELL EARNED 1-STAR. Called multiple times, they had plenty of opportunities to come correct and provide the invoice they kept, which I requested, they denied having, all of which contains important information including personal info, business name and info, receipt of product and drop-off transaction, which has a signature line to be given at time of drop-off . Line in form says: "When inquiring about your repair..." which means you should be receiving at the time of drop-off, and to be used in the event I would need to make a report about the loss of equipment. A business card does not suffice at all, no date, no real evidence of anything, and can easily be denied by the business at a later point. Other reviewers reference how their customer info was LOST in their system and they were literally screwed, say goodbye to your item. Asked to speak to a real manager, Mary Lou kept resisting and wanted to handle it herself, rude and condescending, Jessica just as bad. They are your first of many problems in this business. Your website fails to give proper info, no email, nothing (yes I used the form to contact in addition to calling, no response). In sum: You had an invoice, you refused to give it, you refused to service my product after I asked for info and assurance, was responded to condescendingly, your staff kicked it back and had no regard or concern to protect the customer, you guys are only looking out for your business. And sorry, withholding release of my item, as a "manager" is not excusable. You had many chances. Yet another 1-star review earned, just like the rest. read more

When my Onkyo receiver broke under warranty APM was the closest place to San Antonio that is authorized by Onkyo to do the repair work. I drove my receiver to them to have the repair work done and was told that it might take a few days before they could look at it and let me know what was wrong. A few days later I get a call from them letting me know the problem and that they will place an order for the part that is needed to do the repair on it. Well, that was on August of 2022. I had been waiting for them to call me for about 4 months and wondered what had happened. I call them to inquire of the status of my repair and they said that they are still waiting on the part to come in. I told them that I understood and would contact them in a few weeks. A few weeks goes by and I call them again. They tell me the same thing that they are still waiting on the part and again I say that I understood. During this whole time they have been professional and polite and courteous with me. (I got the feeling that they want to fix my receiver as much as I do but are hindered in doing so because of the lack of parts availability.) I contact Onkyo and let them know my situation with the parts not being available and me have to wait so very long. After a few emails and talking with some one on the phone, Onkyo said that they apologize for the repair taking so long and that they could send me a a refurbished TX-NR6050 as soon as one was available. That was in September of 2022. Well, I have been waiting since then and figured that Onkyo would send one to me eventually. Now, I get a call February 2024 from APM, they leave a message that my receiver is fixed and that I can have it shipped to me in San Antonio or come by and pick it up. Yayyyyyy!!! I don't fault them for the extremely long time that it has taken for them to do the repair work. They are at the mercy of parts availability. During this whole process they have all been kind and professional with me. They called whaen they said that they would call me. When I call them and asked them what the status on my repair work is, they were honest and told me that they were waiting on the part. On May 19, I've bought a Chauvet DJ Q-Spot 460 to be repaired. I've tried to send it in for repairs to other service repair shops, and APM Electronics was the only place that was able to repair it. It took a lot of time to repair the light, which it is OK by me since I was in no hurry. I understand they needed time to figure out the problem. I just wanted the light to get repaired. They got the light fixed and have been working great with no problems. Their customer service has been always great to me. They are super understanding and friendly. I let the claim processor know I had requested an estimate but had not received nor was I likely to. Claim has been resolved. I hope the above better explains the issue. Communication with their customers could be better. They are quick to inform you when you drop a television off that they charge $5/day to store your TV once their repairs are complete. I dropped my TV off for a $75 diagnostics evaluation. A full week went by, and I heard nothing from them. Worried about their $5/day storage fee, I called the shop to follow up. After a brief hold, they told me that my TV needed a $600 repair and wanted to know whether I wanted them to go ahead with the repair or wait for me to come pick it up. It would have been nice to know that information without my having to call after a week of silence. I chose to pick the TV up without investing in the repair. I called the shop again a week later with a follow up question and left a message. I never received a call back. It appears to me that this shop's customer service efforts are primarily focused on they money they will be collecting from you today. But it doesn't appear that they take the time to think about your likelihood to do business with them again in the future. Something to think about. read more

BE AWARE... the worst customer service ever. Giving this place a 1 star is giving to much. They had my TV for 4 months with excuses from wrong parts shipped to them twice to replacing the entire unit except the outer frame and still didn't turn on. How??? Like replacing a entire motor of a car and still wouldn't turn on . They don't call customers and rude when you call to check on your merchandise. My TV is under warranty and the manufacturer was told the TV at one point it was ready for customer pick up and when I went to pick it up it wasn't ready. Shady. They was going to let me leave with it until I ask them to turn it on. This place either needs new employees or a crash course in customer service fast. My 60 inch Sony flat screen 4K TV was struck by lightning. It was only a few years old so I was not happy. I had just moved so forgot to put a surge protector on it. It would not turn on, black screen. The AMP tech came to my home, took it down, took the back off and check the different circuit boards. Found one the test should as fried then took the board off and under it it was burnt viably. So I knew he found it. He ordered the new board and it can win a week later. He fixed it and rehung the TV. Worked perfectly. A year later still working great. They did a great job and saved my TV. read more

I have used these guys a dozen or more times over the last 20 years. They are always honest and fair in their pricing. several times I just knew that the equipment was badly damaged and would need expensive repairs and instead was told it was a bad solder joint or broken connection for which I was charged practically nothing. I give this company 5 stars because they have worked with me on repairing the high-end receiver that I shipped in. They explained all the processes very clearly on how to ship equipment to their facility. I asked them as soon as they received my equipment to take pictures of the box. Because I myself have order things to my residence and the contents are broken or things are missing because the boxes have been tossed around. I am writing this review due to the reviews that i was reading about this company, and I took a chance because not very many people have good experience taking the time to express the good work these folks are doing. It's crazy to think a company would to equipment to sell it or not open for business. It's just doesn't sound right. Anyway, the few times I, talk to these people they were friendly, helpful and very informative on the status of my Onkyo. I have used Apm in the past to repair an old pioneer amp. I took a subwoofer to them today and was told that I had to pay $75.00 for the. To tell me if they could get parts to fix it. That is an issue. $75.00 is a lot of money to be told that they can't get parts when they should know whether they can get parts are not. it's frustrating. So . . This is the reality about electronics repair. They don't know if they can fix it. They are going to charge a high fee to tell you if they can fix it and shift all the risk to you. Which make economic sense. Of course, I am not going to fix anything. I'll just buy a new subwoofer and be done with it. My Panasonic TV had an issue that was covered under warranty. Panasonic put me in contact with APM because they are an authorized retailer for Panasonic equipment in my area. I set an appointment for APM to come to the house to investigate the problem. The appointment window was from 9-1pm. APM contacted me at 8am to verify I would be available at 9:30 when they planned to arrive. Angel arrived right on time and was confident he knew what the problem was. He had the TV put back together and working perfectly within 30 minutes. He was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and efficient. Hopefully I won't have any audio/video issues that necessitate additional repair, but if I do, I'll definitely take my business to APM. Chef recommends. read more

Super friendly people. I spent 250 dollars to have a stereo amplifier fIxed. I dropped it off in early December, picked it up 6 or 7 weeks later. Some of the people left reviews stating bad communication or slow service. Communication was fine and I never rush people if the job gets completed to satisfaction. I plugged the amp in today to test it and nothing was fixed. I'm not sure what they did. When we all have a hundred things that eat up our time, keep my 250 bucks, don't wast my time. read more

Overall I am very happy with APM electronics' work on two vintage Pioneer amps and one cassette deck that needed repair. I was giving them pretty challenging work (parts can be hard to find, slow to get) and they eventually got it all working as asked. When I got them on the phone they were straightforward and gave me details about the status that proved they were on the level, but the problem was I needed to call them any time I needed an update. It's a little frustrating to need to call a company 2 weeks after to get a status report, and have to call again the next day...but in the end Angel and his crew did everything they promised, told me what they couldn't fix (old parts no longer available) and the price was fair. I can see why other Yelpers are upset, but honestly, slow communication is FAR from the worst thing I've had to deal with when it comes to electronics repair in Houston. I don't normally post reviews, no seriously, I never do. My occupation is in customer service, and I know when a company is incapable of providing healthy customer service. First off, I wasn't nearly upset when I called APM Electronics. I was told by Pioneer to send my equipment in to this third party company (APM) they contracted to do their warranty work. You'd think it'd be a seamless process. To anyone reading this, have you ever had a product (so dear to you) under warranty, sent it in for repair under instruction from the manufacturer, and then have the contracted third party repair company contact you because they don't have enough proof that you're the owner of the product? First off, no. I paid for the equipment. I proved this to the manufacturer already, otherwise they wouldn't have paid for my repair and shipping. On top of that, they're getting paid by Pioneer for the repair. You've done this before. Why are you contacting me and not the manufacturer who informed me to send this to you? If APM isn't getting paid by pioneer to carry out the repair, it would make sense as to why they're taking their frustrations out on me, but I know they're getting paid because they're contracted at either a flat rate or on an individual repair basis paid out monthly or however long. Rude receptionist, too. Very inconsiderate to the circumstances, she was taking out her frustrations on me. Why are you frustrated? I just sent you over $1k worth of equipment and you're frustrated? I haven't seen my equipment in 3 weeks. I am allowed to be frustrated, and I am now; but I was respectful on the phone, unlike the receptionist. When I asked once, nicely, for her to repeat the email address for me to send my additional information to, she asked "are you done yet?" I laughed after she hung up, but I was very respectful the whole time, explaining my frustrations exactly without being rude, informed her that pioneer had sent them an email on my behalf that would clear everything up, to which she claimed they didn't receive. You didn't even look. You're ridiculous. I don't wish bad upon people, and I still won't, but if I did, I'd request for you to be fired. In an age where most markets and industries are over saturated, decent electronics repair companies are tough to find, apparently. If you value your time, your money, your sanity, and respect from customer service, do your homework and find a good one that isn't as confusing as this one. Highly unprofessional. Horrible experience. Feel bad for the owners, hire a young person who's more motivated to treat customers properly. Hope I see my equipment soon... I would not recommend this place . Pioneer authorized dealer recommended this place for repairs . Took them 2 weeks to diagnose and was told was the cpu and needed to order from pioneer which would take a week. A month later , they replaced the part and it's having the same issue, they think pioneer sent them defective part. But had to get pioneer to help them diagnose it this time , to which the lady who gathered the info from the tech , it was actually sow thing else wrong and wasn't the cpu and had to get different parts . To which her husband attempted to back track and say , no sometimes they get defective parts and that's what it was . Well so why is the price going up again to repair if the part sent was defective . It's been a little over 2 months now and still no radio. It's a navigation head unit and is just 7 months old so parts can not be hard to get . And now the bill is sky high so far and still I have nothing yet read more

I took them my 17 year old Velodyne subwoofer a little over a week before Thanksgiving because I wanted it to possibly be ready when The Beatles "Get Back" premiered on Thanksgiving day. In all fairness, the sub has always sucked. I had to send it in the first time while still under warranty and then I took it to APM a few years later. Cost for the sub was $500 brand new. We had a bit of contact the first week where I was told that it would not be ready in time which was no surprise as I had taken it in pretty late. I was told that the parts were hard to come by and it could be a while so I just let them be. I didn't have any contact again until a few days ago when I called to follow up since they had not. I was told the estimate was $630. I had already had to pay $135 for them to even look at it. So I was up to $765, $265 more than I had payed for it brand new. I think I can buy a better sub with that money. read more

APM Electronics provides high quality repair at a low cost to customers. I had my Sony Tv and my stereo repaired. They were right on the money, on time and saved me some money. APM was able to repair it, instead of replacing the part. So there I saved a lot of money. Now, on my stereo or should I say, turntable took some time to repair only because, they had to order a part. Being it's an older model, the part was hard to find. But, it was worth the wait. It plays now like when I bought it several years ago. APM Electronics, employees were nice, helpful and very professional. Their fees are very reasonable as well. Two weeks later I called back to find out that they haven't even started on it and wouldn't know when and couldn't give me a ETA for repair. Mgr was a complete jerk and basically threatened me that he would throw my stuff out if I didn't like their policies. I will be filing a report with the BBB on them. read more

APM Electronics is outstanding all the way around from when you walk until you pick up your item. I dropped off my Onkyo receiver to have it looked at. It was $75 for them just to look at which I was a little hesitant to cough up, but did it because they were one of the only licensed Onkyo repair locations in Houston. I asked Mike several questions (most of which were supposed to be his opinion about my receiver and the repair) and found him to be very honest and helpful. Mike proceeded to tell me that it would take aprox 4 days to open up the receiver and see what was wrong with it and within that time period I received a phone call from Mike saying that my Onkyo needed to be repaired. I asked how much it would cost all in to fix the receiver and he gave me an estimate of $400 and the total at the end was $423 with my $75 down. Mike said that the repair would take upwards of two weeks and once again within that time frame the receiver was fixed and in perfect working condition. After all this, the receiver working and the great customer care were not the only factors for APM getting 4 stars, but they also helped me out with getting a refund from Onkyo because of a faulty part that was in my receiver. Thanks to the great APM family, I got my receiver repaired, they got paid and I got a little bit of money back because of the APM help.
