Nightmare Phone Repair Experience at Be Wireless (Houston) Dropped my iPhone 14 Pro on Saturday, July 19. Took it to the Apple Store the next day (Sunday) but didn't want to pay $499 to replace just the rear glass. I also stopped by a UbreakIFIX shop and they recommended a brand new phone. So, I researched Yelp for repair shops. Rob from Be Wireless responded at 2:30 a.m. (!), and since the shop had been around for 37 years, I decided to give them a shot--even though reviews were a bit mixed. I dropped by around 1 p.m. on Monday. The owner was accommodating and even offered to meet me later that evening so I wouldn't have to trek back into the city during rush hour. lol Pop BUT, that's where the problems began. 1. Initial Repair & Immediate Overheating When I got the phone back around 7 p.m. Monday, I noticed: * They had cracked my front screen during the rear glass repair, so they replaced the front as well. * The phone had visible moisture/humidity inside on the back and was returned with a scratched casing and dirty. * When I powered it on, a thermometer icon appeared with the message: "iPhone is too hot and will turn off." It overheated immediately. * The rear wasn't sealed properly. The owner admitted it should have sat under the infrared lamp longer. I refused to take it home. They promised to make it right and took it back for more work. 2. Unauthorized Parts & Botched Fixes * The next day, they replaced the battery without my permission - with an aftermarket version that doesn't register as authentic. * Later, they said they damaged a sensor (a diode?) and needed more parts. * The owner missed our Wednesday meetup, calling en route to say they needed another day. I'd now been using my kid's phone for three days. 3. Aftermarket Parts & Makeshift Solutions * They replaced multiple front screens because of heat and burning up issues (again, not my fault). * Eventually, they offered to install an aftermarket, thicker screen and knock 50% off the original repair. I agreed - I just wanted my phone back. 4. More Delays & Excuses * They worked on the phone for two more nights and gave it back July 24 (Thursday). But even then: * The front glass wasn't sealed properly and was lifting. * There was a white "depression" on the front and humidity spot that had continued to spread on the rear screen * Owner admitted the repair was rushed because I needed my phone back - looking back, essentially placing the blame on me. 5. Still Not Fixed * They told me to try using it overnight and return if issues persisted. Suggested using rubber bands to hold the screen in place (!). * Camera shortcut wouldn't work. * Flashlight button worked, but the light didn't turn on. * Screen kept flickering all night * display color issues--my Snap icon was greenish! 6. Final Straw: Apple Diagnosis By Monday, July 28, I'd had enough. I ran another diagnostic online with an Apple tech and scheduled another in-store appointment as a last ditch effort. I was desperate at this point. Their report: NINE+ failed components, the ones that I can remember right now, include: * Face ID, Camera, front and rear Glass issues, Water damage, Battery, Sensor, Software, Unsealed casing allowing humidity to enter, Rear glass misaligned and cracking (this is the first repair that had taken place) At one point, the Be Wireless owner told me to "try Windex" on the rear glass to fix the condensation. (Girl, what?) Eventually, the rear glass separated completely. It continued to crack in the Apple Store. I have photos (see photos, and 1 video!) and plenty of evidence of the owner admitting they returned the device unfinished, because I "needed the phone," and "because iPhones run hot and have glitches all the time." I'd explicitly asked them to take their time and return a fully functioning device. 7. Final Attempts to Reconcile I offered to Zelle half of the $129 for the original, but again, cracked glass repair since I agreed to keep the thicker screen after they cracked the front glass. The owner replied, "I'm not worried about the money - I just want to get you a functioning phone." When I mentioned possibly needing a new device, he said: "Don't let Apple talk you into buying a new phone. We can fix all of this - for free. They are easy fixes and updates that can be solved. Nothing less than a 5/5 for this business. I sent Yelp a request for a quote at 10 pm yesterday and literally 5 minutes later, Robert replied with an estimation for the repair. Even when I told him extra information (my LCD screen was also broken), he modified the quote immediately which was accurate for the actual repair as well. Definitely go here first if you treasure your old phone and want to preserve it before trading in for a new one. The other phone repair businesses only replied to my request through Yelp the next day and their speed of response was nowhere near the level of BE wireless. The price provided by these other businesses were also around $10-20 more expensive than BE wireless' price. I also had a very pleasant experience at the shop with Ken, the front man, who was very humorous. I was actually 15 mins late and one customer got in line before me. Nevertheless, Ken promised my repair will be done in one hour still, and he kept his words. The repair was also spotless. My phone glass and LCD screen were smashed from falling onto the pavement. Don't go there unless you're prepared to go back a second time for them to fix the additional issues they caused repairing your device. And above all do not pay for the "full proof $20 extra fee to make sure the touch sensor is successful" when you go in for a cracked screen repair... I specifically did so (when my touch had no issues prior) because he told me there was a high level risk of this failing after screen repair, and my touch was perfect going in and now is completely mis-aligned. I didn't have time to go back in for them to fix this (hence why I paid the extra fee the first time) and now my touch is completely off. Cheap but not worth it in the end unfortunately read more

An update to my original review: i ended up getting a quote of the competitor not too far from this business. Not only did said competitor charge me the flat rate they quoted me; another customer that walked in and had a similar issue, was charged the same flat rate-unlike my experience with this business. I am very disappointed with the response from this business handling my review. Since my review was posted, I've received long messages from the owner telling me that my experience was untrue-i wonder which part of my experience was untrue-the part where i was quoted one price, but upon walking into the store quoted another price (the difference was just over 30%). The messages received from the owner includes justification as to why price charged at the store is higher (again, either don't advertise your rate as 'flat' which it was not a flat rate, or explain to your customer why there are two rates, and let the customer make his/her own decisions, otherwise YOU ARE MISLEADING a prospective customer). Owner accused me of going around and slander companies (funny how most of my reviews are really positive ones-maybe that's called slanted in 2020); owner threatened with 'pursuing other actions' in one of those long rants. This honestly has been one of the worst interaction I've ever encountered. My conclusion: there are so many other places to get your gadgets repaired; this business might do a great job in repair, but their handling disputes, if such arise, are on a poorer side - risk not worth taking in my opinion. read more

Loved this place, my iPhone X screen had broke and had checked with Apple on how much it would have been for repair.... $279 close to half of what it would have cost for a brand new iPhone X. So I messaged BE WIRELESS right away for a quick quote. I had to get it fixed ASAP because I'm new to Houston and I need my GPS for directions,they were quick to respond and was able to squeeze me in right away! Not only was he quick but he was so helpful. My screen works perfectly and the touch is not off at all. I will never go to another place to have my phone repaired!! I love their customer service so much, from messaging with Robert through their yelp page, to how awesome Ken is in store. I came in because my screen popped out, but he said since my phone was still properly working, he recommended for me to put a case that will hold the screen in so I wouldn't have to replace the whole new screen just yet. I left and it was meant to be, my clients little son had gotten a hold of my phone and had dropped it and dragged it across the floor (so it looked that way).
