So I went there on a Sunday morning for an 11:30 appointment. When I had arrived, I sat in the chair with my small bag on the table. Before she started doing my nails, she told me to put the bag behind me or on the floor, so I put the bag behind me. I then said to her I think that it is very rude to tell a customer to put their bag on the floor. She then said to me "When the Americans come in here I tell them to put it on the floor" so I said to her, "Don't tell me that the Americans do whatever. The American term does not apply to me I am from a different country. Don't tell me that" I thought it was embarrassing to tell a customer that. She then replied and said " That's your business not mine if the term does not apply. That's how I am" She was so rude that she told me to go somewhere else I said no and told her "You cut the nails already so YOU are going to sit there and finish them. Do not start what you cannot finish. I have noticed with her that she wants to do things her way and not your way as requested. I asked her to soak my nails off but she did not. She DUG them off and still charged me the soak off. I also went with my granddaughter and she got her nails done as well. Only lasted a few minutes. I went in to get Dip nails done a week ago because my usual shop was booked up. I walked in and there was only one other customer there and 2 employees, I asked for French style and was informed that they were out! First of all, Who runs out of French( I wondered if she just did not know how to do this with Dip Powder). Her manner was not very friendly, very cool. She did ask me a couple of question, but other than that she was very brisk. For someone who may want new regular customers, this was in no way good customer service. She acted annoyed with me and doing my nails. She also used the dremel on my cuticles which was different. but seemed to work fine. At the end of the manacure, my nails did look good. She stopped working and said they were done. ( I was waiting for lotion and a hand massage) I asked her if I could use some lotion and she said ok but lotion makes the nails less shiny. (I have never heard or noticed that!) I put on lotion myself and paid and left. (15 percent tip) Seems to me like she could have given me a choice of whether I wanted lotion and a hand massage. Popped in for a pedicure, they weren't busy took me right away, they were nice enough I suppose but I choose to be on my phone anyways so I'm not there to socialize. Everything was okay, I chose the 35 dollar pedicure, got it around 6pm it's now 9pm and it already chipped! I will never be back! Also when I tipped the girl 5 dollars, the paint job wasn't very good or what I'm use to, but she still took her time to do it, she looked angry and was rude when I was leaving. There were no other customers waiting and one just finished up. They refused me because they said it would take too long.... code words for "we want to close early and you would ruin that so we don't want to help you." I reminded them of their posted hours and I have had my nails done for years and a basic fill can be done in 40 min. I asked who the owner was and the rude woman said she was. So I asked for her name and she refused to give it to me. Then she instructed one of the employees to call the police on me. For what??? Because I asked for her name. She was telling the 911 operator that I was causing problems. These people are so rude and to treat a returning customer this way is absolutely unforgivable. While waiting for the police to show up I tried to take a pic of her and the store hours and business license. She tried grabbing my phone away from me twice and she pushed my hands away. I never touched her once. But she put her hand on me. She filed a no trespassing against me which I gladly accepted. I would never want to give them ANY business again after being treated this way. Young female was very kind and helped me figure everything out, I'm assuming it was the owner who did my nails but he didn't speak any english so she translated for him. My nails look good, one star down because I have two cuts at the tips of my big toe and my pinky which is annoying but not the end of the world. He was just way too aggressive with the file. He may have realized because my bill was $5 less than advertised. I used to like coming here because I thought they were very good. But you know what they say "If something sounds to good, it probably isn't". I've been here multiple times (past tense) and I thought I have found the "one" I can trust with my pedi. I'm not ashamed to share with you that we do have diabetes in my family and I am in fact "borderline". I get worried of getting a cut that might not heal right away even when my Doc has not officially said I am. I worry to get some sort of toe infection. It's a great deal of worrying when diabetes is in the picture. So, I try very hard to take good care of my hands and feet. My goal is to share my experiences and provide awareness as well and so , ultimately, the goal is to be more careful where I get my mani and pedi in the future. Back to my experience, long story short of my last visit if not, I am almost certain has led me to go to see a professional foot doctor to address my concerns. After my last pedi here, a few days after, my big toe started hurting. I thought I'd soak and treat it at home. The following week, I went back to address my concerns and was very hopeful to get some attention. The lady there who was pleasant in the past was the person I approached and am almost sure is the owner. I told her that I might have an ingrown nail and needed attention asap. She replied: "We're too busy now come back another day." I asked how about tomorrow and without any eye contact from her, she said "fine". In my mind, she could've fixed my problem in 2 minutes max because she (herself) didn't have a customer in front of her--only others did. Her smart move is to turn me away. I was very disappointed and my gut told me um, probably don't give them any more business in the future. I do not agree with that response of hers because we all know that mani and pedi plus tips sum up to a hefty amount which by the way, I am a darn good tipper. Hence, I will not go back. I am moving on ladies and gents. I read a pretty close if not a similar review about this particular location. I went in today with my two stamped cards. One had a full stamped except for two. The other had two stamps. The owner would not accept them by telling me the cards have to have ALL of the stamps on them. I tried to explain that I couldn't find the one card and someone gave me another to start! I tried to explain that it is the total number of stamps that count and it is equal to a whole stamped card. She said "no" and I walked out very frustrated and will never go back! I've only been here once, but I plan to make this my new go to nail salon now that my friend has moved to the area. We enjoy making girl dates to talk and get our nails done regularly. We've been to a lot of places and this is my new favorite. We both enjoyed our signature pedicures, which are a bit pricey at 40$ each, but very luxurious. They come with exfoliation, massage, hot stone massage and paraffin dip. It seems like a real spa experience and definitely a good way to treat yourself. My only complaints are that the water and the hot rocks may be too hot, and of course it can tickle if you are ticklish. I'm not sure if the person understood my complaints about it being too hot so you may have to be a little vocal. We got our nails done at the same time and each had two people working on us. We later opted to do eyebrows too. Everyone was super friendly, although my friend continues to be slightly bothered that they encouraged her more than once to get her lip waxed. I have been a loyal customer for SIX years.. pretty much every 2 weeks for a fill and once a month for a pedi and on occasion my daughter would join for mani and pedi. I LOVED how Emma did my nails and she was very sweet. HOWEVER I will never go back again. I too a break from March 2022-July 2022 because I had surgery and they required no nails or nail polish. I go back a new fullset with shellac, deluxe pedi with shellac, and a kids mani and pedi... Paying $200 after all said and done. 6 days later 2 nails pop off without breaking from a FULL SET! I call- they tell me to come in and I have to pay $20 to get the two fixed... I wasn't happy but it was whatever. THE NEXT DAY another breaks pops off without breaking. I call and they said I can come in and get it fixed for free this time because I was pissed. My normal lady however isn't allowed to do it unless I pay $10!! but the other one can for free and she fucked my nail up the worse I have seen and it took her 30mins to do ONE NAIL. I was pissed but told its policy they only stand behind their nails for 3 days after a full set lol. i was told I could come back and my nail lady could take off the crappy nail fix the messed up nail for $10! The NEXT DAY another popped off clean so i had a missing nail the last few days because I'm not going back and today ANOTHER did... 5 nails- popped off in 13 days from a NEW full set... my natural nails don't even look like I has arylics on because they are not even drilled down with grooves smh. If this is how they treat a loyal customer of 6 years and won't stand by their product... after all the money o have dumped into their business...how do you think they will do you? TERRIBLE FOR GROUPS. I came here with my husband and 2 friends. They could only start with 3 people so I opted to wait, I assumed until the two people already there were finished. The women were both done within 10 minutes of our arrival. I waited AN HOUR AND A HALF to just be SEATED. I sat with a hot foot bath for 15 minutes while the woman who was supposed to be seeing me vanished in the BOH. I was so angry I didn't even bother to stay for the appointment, because I didn't want the three of them to wait as long as I did. At NO point did they communicate that the wait would be remotely long, let alone 90 minutes. The only reason they get 2 stars is because my husband and friends enjoyed their appointment. read more

Typical 'chop shop' type nail salon. The gal who did my pedicure rushed through it and the massage was only of my calves, not my feet, and not very good to boot. I was impressed when I saw she was wearing gloves, until I realized she didn't change them when she was done with my pedicure. She simply moved onto the next customer without changing gloves or anything. Gross! What, then, is the point of wearing gloves? Apparently to protect her own hands from us, not us from her. Hmmm. I also noticed she put her tools back into the same bucket she pulled them from, rather than a separate dirty bucket... which leads me to believe they use the same tools for everyone's feet who come in. I essentially paid for an electronic chair massage and someone to paint my nails. Their hygiene practices left something to be desired, which I cannot overlook. The staff was friendly, so I hope they can get their act together as far as cleanliness goes. read more

This is the only nail salon I will go to, and I'm so glad I found it. Don't let the fact that its off Aurora dissuade you (the salon near 145th in shoreline...blatant front for 'happy endings'...avoid!). The salon is clean, bright, and the staff is also very friendly and happy to see you. The pedicures are reasonably priced, and they do a great job massaging the lower leg---my husband even likes going now because he loves the foot rub. The hot towel wraps tend to be just a little too hot, but obviously, they cool down quickly...no biggie. I usually have one of the younger girls, who love to chat and are very sweet, but the last time I had a gentleman. Didn't think he was a good...didn't say anything, and cut a nail way too short and it was throbbing for well over a week. The best part, IMO, they have a frequent buyer stamp card. I get pedicures maybe every 4-6 weeks to pamper myself anyways, which adds up to getting a freebie for something I would be getting anyways. read more

My mother-in-law, sister-in-law, niece, daughter and I walked in around noon on a friday. There was only 1 other customer at the time so we were all attended to quickly. There were 2 mani/pedis, an acrylic overlay and the 2 little girls got their nails and toes painted. Everyone was very pleased with the service they received and the girls were thrilled to be treated like big girls. I am very happy with my acrylics. they look natural but I no longer have to fear breaking my nails at work all the time. the salon was clean, the staff was friendly and professional and the prices were reasonable. they also have a little punch card that was like every 9th fill or pedi was free. read more

All it takes is one bad experience to ruin an entire establishment for me. I've been coming here for years and always enjoyed it, but my latest visit ruined it for me. I've always had the same thing done every time, so I know what the prices are. The nail tech seemed to be having a bad day and wanted to take it out on me, I guess. She was really rough with me and putting my arms and hands in very uncomfortable positions and they do not have arm cushions for this. Very unusual behavior for her to do my nails roughly when she normally doesn't. Then she filed the sides of my nails after putting a top coat so there was major scraping damage to my nails that were very noticeable. When I got done and went to pay, she told me it was $65 (not including tip)--just for a basic nail fill and to put a tip on ONE nail. I had the same exact thing done 3 weeks prior and it was $55. I asked if there was a raise in price to which she responded, "No, it's extra for the nail tip." Funny when I had to get a tip on 3 weeks ago, and it was $55. Still pretty pricey for a basic nail fill and one nail tip, but I still paid it because it gets done quickly and pretty nice, but on this day I was highly ripped off because someone was having a bad day. Not really nice to do to a customer who has been loyal where you have to cheat and lie about pricing. There are plenty of nail salons out there. This place is open on Sundays - major win! I was a little surprised when a gentleman working there was assigned to do my mani/pedi, but he did a great job! A gal did the actual painting, but he did everything else. The leg and arms massages were worth the cost all by themselves. The only thing I didn't like was the chairs - they are very upright. My first experience with modern nails was very positive. Good service, nails looked great. I decided to start getting eyebrows and upper lip waxed, eventually branching out to getting a Brazilian wax, which I have been doing now for a few years. Usually 2 people do a Brazilian wax. Other than the attempt to up sell me on other services, my experience remained positive. I went in today for a pedicure and Brazilian wax. My pedicure was lovely. My waxing however was not. Only one person, who has never waxed me before, did the waxing. Some pain is normal, however there was one point when it was more painful than normal, but I brushed it off. Women are kinda used to beauty = pain. They kept asking me if I was OK, which I thought was odd. When I got home, I got into the shower to get the wax off and OH MY GOD! The pain was intense! I washed myself and there was blood in my hand. After washing thoroughly, I got out and blotted the area dry - blood on the towel. I got out a mirror and flashlight, did some contortionist move with them to see what was going on. There is a 2", deep gash in my labia. I'd post a pic if I could folks. I clean the wound and apply neosporin to it. I notice other areas that are bruised. I call to let them know the situation. I am told it's no problem, sometimes this happens when the skin gets stretched. Really? It's never happened to me before. She continues to be dismissive to me and tells me to come in, they will put something on it. Um, no thanks, I'm debating wether to go to the doctor or not. Not once was I asked 'what is your name?', 'how did you pay? - we will refund you for the service today', 'what can we do to make this right?' My husband comes home. He looks at it and says its oozing, but not bleeding. No stitches needed. Tells me that I'm never getting another one of these again. I agree. Unbelievable to me that they wouldn't even offer ANYTHING to try to remedy the situation, one that they were clearly aware of. Really horrible. I am praying that I don't get an infection. Update: went to the doctor a day after this occurred to address a possible infection and for peace of mind. Left with a prescription and an office visit bill. All told this 'service' has now cost me around $300 monetarily. The stress and pain is another thing. My blood pressure was off the charts at the doctor's office. Do not get waxed here - ever. Update: I won a judgement against them in small claims court for the injuries I sustained over a month ago and have not received a dime. They have not responded to my email and have not tried to contact me. I will be contacting the sheriff to serve them with papers. read more

I think this place, Modern Nails and Spa is great! I have been to a few places in my past. I don't get a pedicure very often, at most once a month or once every 6-8 weeks and never in the winter. But when I do, I like the place to smell good or have no odor. I have a problem with smelling the acrylic nails I think. The stuff that is used to do manicures has much more of a toxic odor than usual in all the other places I've been to. So while I don't get manicures, I get pedicures and they do a great job and are extremely friendly. Especially the man who owns it. And he is pretty funny to boot! I have always had a great experience there!! Oh and they do waxing and many other services as well. I have my eyebrows waxed once in awhile as well there. Don't go here!!! Save yourself the money and the headache. I went in here today due to the fact that I was in the area and couldn't make it to my normal place before they closed. I used to frequent this nail salon about 18 months ago and spent a lot of money at this salon. I went in today and the place was dirty and the nail tech was extremely rude. I stayed only because I needed to get my nails done today. First when I explained to the girl what I needed done she looked confused- this should have been my queue to RUN. I just asked for dip powder and she says they do them all the time. They had like 8 colors... I asked if they had more and she said no... yet they were sitting there with a lot of dip powder colors that were not offered to me. I chose one of the colors offered to me and let her do my nails. She didn't know what she was doing and forgot to file down the dip powder which left my nails a rough texture. I came in with dip powder that was smooth and have been getting my nails done with smooth dip powder for 10 months. When she told me I was done I said well no these aren't right and the girl argued with me that it was. She tried to tell me that it's this way because they used different products. IT WAS THE SAME PRODUCT!!!!! When I tried to tell her why it wasn't right she just stared at me and didn't know what to say or offer to fix it. I also left with the tips of my fingers still stained red. They didn't even cut my cuticles down or use cuticle oil on me. She charged me full price. I left and called my normal girl and will be taking time off of work tomorrow to get this fixed. If I could leave 0 stars I would. This place sucks. read more
