Bought Challenge Strada tires and a "flat attack" inner tube 8/18/23 In less than 300 miles the rear tire was wearing down to a flat spot and the "tread" was completely gone in the center. As far as the inner tube goes, got two flats on back to back rides for the first time in my 9000+ miles of riding in all sorts of conditions and environments, minus mountain biking. The tires and inner tube, were not worth anywhere near the listed price and I'm thoroughly bummed with the attempt to give a 15% "discount" to remedy such a low quality product they're selling at full price. And $110 for a set of tires and an inner tube might not seem like much to a majority of the people who see this but it sure as hell is to me, especially when in the end they aren't worth half that... Whoever was on the customer service line today came off as a good example of declining customer service/satisfaction in general, especially when he tried to place blame on the manufacturer's product and not even acknowledge that the company is, or at least was, selling it. Ya know, anything to absolve yourself from accountability, it's the 'merrican way... Any-who, just signed up for Competitive Cyclist's and Jenson USA's mailing list, got an automatic 15% "discount" and didn't have to waste any resources to do so. read more

I ordered a cassette removal tool for a hub drive ebike. $35.00 for the tool was a high price but I needed it. The quality of the tool was very poor, rough edges and burrs. It would not fit in the cassette, I thought perhaps it was due to the burrs and tried to remove them with a light file and crocus cloth, still no good. Looking at the tool I saw the problem was the splines where too wide and not the same shape as the opening on the lock ring. I contacted Modern Bike and provided pictures including comparison of the spline shape with a Park cassette removal tool. They then requested i send a video, which I tried to do one handed but could not. I contacted them again and asked for a refund, they would not give me one because I had tried to remove the burrs. Any material that I might have removed would not make the splines too wide. Poor quality product at an inflated price that doesn't even fit and no refund. Stay away from this company. read more

I received the pedals on the day their website said I would (I paid for two-day shipping). Plus, they arrived before 5pm. I did notice the pedals had some marks on the allen/hex sockets previous to my installation as well as for their spring adjustment. The box also suggested they had been taken out previously. Purchased high end cycling shoes, they came as ordered but the fit was off and wanted an exchange, not even a refund. The customer support rep who sounded as if he was asleep told me I had to pay for the return shipping ( which I can understand) but I also had to eat an additional $14 due to the cost of the original ship from their location to my home. This was when I discovered the entire inside components were made of cheap plastic. It could not be repaired. I asked for a refund and they said the bells were "not made to be dropped". I purchased a DT Swiss rim from Modern Bike. Unfortunately I goofed and ordered the wrong spoke hole count. Modern Bike's website provides instructions on how to return a product. Shipping is at the buyers expense. Because of the size of the package, shipping is $61.00. I was hoping Modern Bike could generate a shipping label at their reduced shipping rate for which I would pay them. However, they have not responded two my two email requests. In addition, during work hours they take their phone off the hook. Customer service is important. I will not be purchasing from Modern Bike in the future. read more

They were few days late on getting my order processed and shipped. If you plan on exchange or return they charge you 30% of items price for re stocking fee and you pay the shipping again. Also if a order was declined because the order did not ship out in time(and you spent some money which no longer has the balance you had for the purchase)they will ship the package when your debit card has the proper balance without re assuring you need those parts. The employee who I tried to speak with about the situation did not care to help. Late shipping cause a big mess and now I will just avoid this store. read more

NO RETURN SHIPPING EVEN THOUGH THEY MESSED UP. Modern Bike shipped me the wrong length spokes. The invoice in the box correctly lists the 286mm spokes I ordered, but the spokes in the box were 283mm. As other reviewers have pointed out, they say I have to pay for return shipping. Other than they were where I was able to easily find the spokes I wanted online, there is nothing special about this retailer - prices and shipping were average at best. I ordered some spokes. It took a week to ship them out and they ended up shipping me someone else's order. They emailed to apologize and say they would ship our correct product on the day the wrong product arrived (day 11 after I ordered). I called and then found out that they no longer had the item in stock and did not know when it might ship. I asked for a refund and was told that once I returned the incorrect product they would process my refund. Odd, I sent them payment before shipping, I didn't receive anything that I ordered and I am told not to expect a refund until I jump thru hoops, print a label and find a place to ship it back (long drive for me). If you ever have to return anything to these guys they make it very hard. I contacted them ahead of time and asked about the return process and made sure it wasn't going to cost me extra time and money to return a brand new front rack. They never sent me any kind of e-mail after receiving it but told me over the phone. The "new deal" was that they were going to give me a gift certificate the was 45$ less than what I paid. Straight up crookery! Over the phone they made up all kinds of reasons as to why they couldn't return it. All new reasons like it's scratched (i actually have photo proof that this rack had absolutely no scratches)....they commit fraud because they can. read more

Awful customer service and awful shipping/return policy. The seat post (a small item) I ordered qualified for free shipping but after arriving 8 days late, once I had found a better option and wanted to return it, I had to pay return shipping in full. I also was told that if I had installed the seat post I would not get my money back, so I didn't bother testing it. Very unusual for a retailer to be so stingy and unsupportive on these sorts of policies, but I was at least willing to bite the bullet on this one. Problem was, they shipped it in a box that was twice the size of what it needed to be so return shipping was $20 for a small item. Then when I'm finally issued my refund, they deducted the original shipping from when they sent it to me saying "that's money we're out regardless of free shipping". Throughout this experience, the customer service representative was really rude. If you really care that much about shipping, send it in a normal size box. So basically I spent $35 at this point to return a seat post I wasn't even allowed to try out. I will never recommend these people to anyone or buy from them again read more

I received a Sigma bike computer which was found to be most probably defective in that the grey button on the back would work only sporadically. Since the included written instructions were almost unusable (written in about eight languages and the English portion described the use of the computer very poorly) I went to the online video that was much more helpful. The problem was that the back button worked poorly and I kept having to re-input information when it didn't work. After almost an hour of fussing around, when the job should have taken no more than 5-10 minutes, I gave up and returned the item. Note that I've programed many computers over the last 45 years, so inexperience isn't the issue. The problem is that I was charged the shipping cost BOTH WAYS for an essentially defective speedometer. That's basically unethical and something I've NEVER had to do before.
