I was with another company for many years but something changed. The tech who usually came left that company, and his replacement was two hours late and couldn't diagnose the error that was being indicated by the flashing light on the furnace. His recommendation was to use the filter with the lowest MERV available. So I tried Modern Air Solutions. The technician was on time, thorough, and after electronic diagnosis, asked if he could check out the floor vents. Within seconds we realized that we had covered a floor vent with a box. With two other vents already being closed, that created a back pressure problem. Moved the box, the light stopped flashing and has never come back. So I changed my biannual service provide to Modern. Each subsequent tech, including Karl most recently, has been great. The old company failed to offer a service renewal after a consistent 8 year run since they had installed the unit, so they seemed to know things weren't going well. read more

I had the worst experience with Modern Air Solutions in Oswego, IL simply I called them, to check my furnace which wasn't working, their technician diagnosed the problem to be the Capacitor and asked me to buy it from them which cost $265, while the original Carrier Capacitor on the market was $20!!! and it's only plug-and-play, no handy work needed. I looked online, I found it, I showed it to the technician he approved, and I bought it online, just plug and play... but unfortunately it didn't fix the problem !!!. When I called them to tell them that, they simply turned me to "Jennifer" who was extremely disrespectful and uncooperative and just kept talking without listening, and when I asked her if she prefers to reject without even listening she said "YES.. that's the best" ... so it was a bad experience and I would never recommend to anyone ... read more

Well, where do I start? It's a month and a half later and we are finally confident our new furnace is functioning properly. We dealt with a broken furnace for a full month! A month in which we experienced temperatures hit lows in the 30's and even had accumulations of snow! We had over 8 visits and spent over $3000! We spent countless days without heat. We spent countless days with an unsafe furnace. We had to request days off of work to be available for services. We had to spend countless days running our furnace at full heat consistently without the ability to turn it down while we were asleep or at work. The expenses and inconveniences this experience brought us are immense. This company also advertises 24 hour service. This is 100% false! We were even told one time "If we come on the weekend it'll cost you more." How absurd is it that you would even put that burden on a customer who is cold and needing relief! (Not to mention who has also already spent $3000 on a new furnace that you installed incorrectly) When the owner of the company finally came to our property (45 minutes LATE) he had the audacity to try and make a joke about why I wasn't home. He said to my husband something along the lines of, "She calls me out here and then she's not even here?" How disrespectful. We had an appointment at 9am. At 9:45, I had to leave for a prior commitment. To make matters worse, in order to attempt to make up for their shortcomings, they asked if we wanted gift cards to local Geneva business. Really? No! All we wanted was our furnace to be fixed! If anything, we shouldn't have had to pay for the new furnace! Or received a discount for their actual services. After trying to reach out to MANY other HVAC contractors over a year's period of time and getting absolutely nowhere, one e-mail message to Modern Air via Facebook instant messaging got me an appointment next day. They were very easy to work with, worked around my schedule (which I very much appreciated), and came to the house exactly when they said they would. This, in comparison to another contractor who had an appointment scheduled days in advance back in Nov. 2016 and failed to show up and didn't call (and when I reached out to him, apologized and re-scheduled for the next day and AGAIN did not show up), was a welcomed surprise. Karl was very knowledgeable, courteous, and just an all-around nice guy who did great work for a reasonable cost. He didn't go out of his way to simply make money and recommend that I get a new humidifier because the humidistat had gone bad. He just gave me the facts on fixing it for just over $200 or so, and then advising me on the cost of a brand new unit. It made more sense to me to replace a 10 year old humidifier vs. simply repairing one part, but he never pressured me either way. He simply educated me on the benefits of both, and I opted to replace it as it seemed to be the better investment. As an insurance agent, I have a large clientele who always ask me for recommendations on home contractors for the purposes of repair or diagnostics (especially due to claims, but just in general home conversations as well). I will go out of my way to recommend Modern Air Solutions moving forward to all my friends, family and clients. We needed to get the central A/C unit in one of our rental units in Schaumburg replaced as it just died a few weeks ago. Our realtor had recommended Tom at Modern Air Solutions last fall when we were thinking about replacing the old A/C unit. He quoted us a great price on installation of a new A/C unit, but we decided to try to keep the existing unit for at least another year. Unfortunately, it didn't even last the first day of use this summer. So I called Tom and asked if he could replace the A/C at the price he quoted last fall. He replied back that he could still honor the price so I scheduled for them to come and do the install. Carl came first thing in the morning on a Friday installing the new unit, but unfortunately I had to get the circuit board replaced because the old unit needed only 120V, but these new units need 220V. We needed to get the circuit board changed in order to get a 220V line to the A/C unit. I was able to get an electrician to replace the circuit board the next Monday and Carl came back that same day to finish the install. By the end of the day, the A/C was running perfectly. I will definitely call Modern Air Solutions again if I need any HVAC work done in the future. They were very professional and gave me a great price for a new A/C unit! read more

The first time I called them, we had a few rooms that were not heating sufficiently. We thought they would suggest a new furnace or some other costly repair. What they showed us was poor airflow from the original installation. These guys are magicians and artists. They rebuilt ductwork in the basement to improve flow and voila! Called our "usual" service provider that advertises 24/7 emergency service, and after 20 minutes on hold before someone finally answered, found they only had techs working 10-3 today. Tom, the sales rep,, came prepared with brochures for all the furnace choices and accessories like humidifiers. No high pressure sales tactics. He patiently answered all of our many questions. After leaving our house, he emailed us a proposal that included prices on a variety of furnaces and any add-ons we might want to do - humidifier, air cleaner, etc. I was very impressed with his presentation of information from the nice folder with all the brochures and all the different prices on the proposal.
