I went through my home appliance repair company to have my AC recharged with freon which I do every spring as I have a small leak. The company's name is "Cinch", I pay them around $55 a month for appliance repair policy. I paid the $120 "deductible". The guy from Norteck showed up, took a look at my AC, took pictures, then he told me I need to pay him an additional $120 to clean the AC as it looks dirty. He said he cannot check the AC until he receives the additional $120 cleaning fee. He also said that he will send the photo of dirty AC to the company if I do not pay him the cleaning fee and that the insurance company will deny my claim on the basis that no routine maintenance performed . He was prepared if I refused to pay the additional $120. I obvously dropped the insurance company and will be seeking legal action against both Nortek and Cinch. If this happned to you, please post a reply so we can proceed with a class action legal solution. read more

Read fine print,ONLY 30days warranty on there work. Other companies give 1year warranty because they feel confident in there work. Doesn't seem like this company does. We had an installation and had issues within few weeks then they said sure we can come out but if it turns out it not an installation fault they wanted to charge us there full service fee (i believe it's $139) for a 5minutes job with a $10 part. After couple month we had an other issue which turned out to be an installation issue, we called them and the manager was very rude and said your 30day installation warranty expired, but we can come out for a full service fee! No thanks, it's not a pleasure to do business with them! read more

DON'T BOTHER. Unskilled technician tried rip us off lying that we have to exchange very expensive part. Didn't fix anything and charged almost $400. Next day I called to another company. Their worker fixed our furnace in 15 min saying that it needed only minor repair and charged $50. I asked him few times if any part needs to be exchanged and he told that no and that my heater is in great condition. When I called to Nortek's owner to complain about her worker and I wanted explain that I don't want pay few hundred dollars for nothing, instead of apologize, she started yell to me. She told that I have to pay or she will report me to police that I hired them and don't want to pay. NEVER EVER USE THEM!!! read more

Pretty simple review. They showed up as promised, took care to protect my house's carpets and floors, they did a great job on the install of a high efficiency furnace, and the job was completed in the time frame estimated. Lisa and her team have serviced my home and my business for years. I have recieved nothing but top notch service every time. They always remember me and even ask about my kids! The first time I hired them was almost 7 years ago. I needed them to increase the air flow in my dance studio to meet industry standards. Although they were a little confused at first, Lisa did research to find out exactly what needed to be done. I was so impressed by the time she took to research. And even then it was a less than $100 fix. I really appreciated their honesty. Next I saw their information on the furnace of the Bikrim Yoga studio I attend. I was surprised that they were so well known! I had another company come into my home when my furnace "according to him". Needed to be replaced. I remembered my friends at Nortek and called them out. They did a clean and check for free for me and were able to do another fix that kept my 15 year old furnace running perfectly. I recommend this company so much. They have done duct cleaning when I moved into a house that had cats from the previous owner (we have allergies), and come out at all hours of the day or night to help with my business heating system (I had an awful landlord that did nothing). And as far as the negative comment made above, It makes me sad, but I betcha it was posted by a competitor. I had the misfortune of my heater not working suddenly yesterday with outside temperature around 25 degrees. Spent the night with a space heater since the home warranty and the after hour HVAC tech they initially called would not agree on the quote amount. We were quite frustrated by the morning what with a toddler at home who we had to confine in one room and drop off to the daycare at the crack of dawn. The house was around 54 degrees in the morning when we left. Called the warranty company again in the morning (did some yelling again) and got Nortek as the available company. By this time I was quite desparate to get the work done and was even ready to pay out of pocket. Justin from Nortek called me as soon as I hung up with the warranty company- sent the info of the Tech, Tyler, who immediately arranged to stop by. He found the problem to be the inducer motor. I thought now the work will be done but he told me how he and Nortek will have to jump through hoops with the warranty company and if the company doesn't cooperate, it would take days before getting the motor installed. But he did understand my problem and the fact that I have a toddler at home and promised that he will expedite it. I called Nortek and spoke with Justin and Lisa who patiently listened to my problem and told me that Tyler skipped his usual round to get my work expedited and was already doing part tracking which he would have normally done by the end of the day! Then Lisa spent almost an hour and a half with the Warranty company to get an approval that could have taken days and convinced them to expedite the part replacement. Within 2 hours Tyler was back and replaced the motor in under half an hour. He also did some cleaning and didn't charge me for it. What Tyler, Lisa and Justin did for me is beyond professional courtesy and I cannot thank each of them enough for helping out! I contacted Nortek from a recommendation and saw they had good reviews on Yelp. I called them due to a problem with our furnace during the recent cold spell we had. The phone operator was courteous and got a tech out to us pretty quickly. The tech was on time and seemed to be thorough even though he spent about 15 minutes looking over our furnace. His recommendation was to replace the inducer motor due to it drawing too many amps and therefore overheating. He also recommended a cleaning and tune-up. Fair enough, the cost seemed high but we needed to get the furnace fixed. I decided to get a second opinion and had another company come out. They sent a senior tech and he looked our furnace over and said the inducer motor was fine and that the only problem was a dirty sensor. Once cleaned, the furnace is running great. I understand that the techs are very busy during peak season and need to get to customers in need but this seemed a bit negligent to me and hope this isn't the norm for this company. So glad we got a second opinion and saved ourselves quite a bit of money. Be careful. read more

This is my response to Lisa. Nortek Environmental was assigned to do a fall maintenance checkup on my furnace October 23, 2015. I was assigned another company when Nortek found a problem that day to do the repairs. I called the Sears home warranty plan right away and asked if Nortek could do the job because they were located closer to my home. I am not happy with Nortek Environmental because of the time it took your company to install the parts once you got them knowing I had no heat from my furnace. When you received the part on a Wednesday November 03, 2015 I could not get an appointment until the next Monday. At this point I had no heat from my furnace for about 13 days. Then when the part was installed November 09, 2015, the furnace still did not work so another part was ordered. Nortek got the second part on a Tuesday November 17, 2015 and again I could not get an appointment until the next Monday. Leaving us with no heat from our furnace now for 26 days. Finally it was repaired Monday November 23, 2015 and working after 31 days of no heat. I even called your emergency number and no one called back. I would have paid the difference, Nortek already had the part. How you could you let a customer go with no heat is beyond my comprehension no matter what the reason. Like I said poor customer service. read more

Don't look any further, this is the only heating and cooling company you need to call! My young family woke to a 55 degree house at 6am on a Sunday. As my husband dressed the kids in winter gear, I was leaving a message for a heating and cooling company we've used in the past. After waiting an hour without a call back I turned to Yelp and found Nortek Environmental. So thankful for Yelp! My emergency call to Nortek resulted in an immediate response from Lisa who was very kind and sympathetic that early Sunday morning. She went over pricing and patched us through to a technician who kindly talked my husband through technical support to isolate the issue in hopes of having to save us the cost of a trouble call. AMAZING! Over the phone the problem was figured out, and the tech brought us a replacement part super quick. They were lifesavers that cold day! I was also pleasantly surprised to receive a follow up call a few days later to make sure everything was ok and that I was happy with the service. Seriously, don't look any farther, you won't find a more professional or courteous company out there. These folks are the definition of good people! read more

Had them out to do a furnace clean and check and was not impressed with the level of service. However I decided to give them another chance because they are a local small biz. They cleaned and checked one furnace and it is now firing up intermittently. The 2nd furnace was determined to be unsafe due to a prior poor installation by another company. Because the job would also require the coil and AC unit to be replaced they would call when the quote was ready. It is the beginning of heating season, 3 days later, on a Saturday and still no word from them. My call to their office revealed they are open till noon. They returned my voice mail only to say "call us if u have any questions" Since this is a potential $8k bid I can only imagine what their commitment is. read more
