Jasper with pesto sauce
Quin B.

This is a fast pizza chain. You can choose a Mod classic or create you own pizza. There is a pizza assembly line that you go down where you select how your pizza is made from the crust up to the toppings. The thin crust pizza bakes for a few minutes then you can choose a sauce to top it all off. I believe there are a couple more pizza chains like this and this maybe the best way to custom make your pizza. My pizza was ready in minutes after ordering. I selected a pesto sauce to accompany the chicken and mushrooms. I took it home and began to critique. I didn't like it. The pizza just did not fulfill my pizza cravings of hunger or taste. The flavors and the sauce just didn't do it for me. The crust was not delicious and I was not left wanting more. The pizza wasn't terrible, but I can find better in the area so there is no need for me to return here.

Literally the best place to grab lunch during work. I love all the toppings I get to choose from, and it's so easy to create my perfect pizza. Favorite combos: arugula and balsamic fig glaze. Sometimes I add chicken, sometimes I'm not in the mood. Their pesto is a great addition as well if you don't like red sauce (which I don't). Their app is super easy to use and curbside pick up is a breeze!

Order station

Pizza, salads, etc that can be build your own or pre-set. Two stations where you can order your food. Plenty of options of toppings and sauces to can have. Fountain drinks and specialty lemonades. Good services especially during a lunch rush. Spacious for large party's to sit and eat together. Two single use bathrooms gender specific. Free parking.

Spicy pie

Friendly staff and quick service, but I just felt the pizza was just ok. In Schaumburg there are so many better places to get pizza. But this place and other fast casual pizza places serve a purpose so I'm not discounting that! I've just had better pizza. However, you can customize it however you want and I of course got the spicy pie (pepperoni and jalapenos). Good, not great!

MOD is good because it gets the job done. I like the idea of picking my own toppings and having options to choose from. My favorite part of this place is the option to top my pizza with a sauce! Social and friendly place!

MEAL: Dinner ORDER TYPE: Dine-in MY ORDER EXPERIENCE: I heard so much about this pizza place from many friends, so I went ahead and tried it out. As soon as you enter, just to the right side of the entrance there is a line which takes you straight to the counter. As you are waiting in the line there would be a menu board for you to decide the pizza you want and then it takes straight to the counter. For me there were not a lot of people in the queue so mine finished faster. As it was my first time, I was unsure what to get. Then upon reviewing it I finally got Value(s) Meal where I got MOD-size (11") pizza and a 24 oz beverage. I chose this Value Meal because I liked the concept where 50c of my every meal goes to support Best Buddies. NOTE: MOD comes in three sizes Mini (6") MOD (11") Mega (11" thick crust) For my pizza I got Tristan Pesto and Veggie pizza. It comes with mozzarella, asiago, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, pesto drizzle and for beverages I got some diet drink. It took a while, but it was not too late either. I was curious to try it because the pizza is well baked in their special oven. I grabbed my order and tried to sit outdoors but there were limited seats, and it was full. So, I had to sit indoors. I waited enough so I really wanted to have that first bite. OMG the presentation was mouth-watering. When I took the first bite it had its own taste. The pizza was thin, soft, and well baked. It had just the right amount of everything, and the game changer of this pizza was the pesto drizzle. It just took to the next level. I finished the whole thing just in no time. By the time I realized it was gone haha. The spell from Harry Potter "Evanesco (vanish)." Overall, the pizza was good but got little pricey because of the Value Meal, the restaurant was huge and bright. They had a variety of seating options (Highland chairs, booths, outdoor seating). The customer service was good where the waiter at the counter suggested I sign-up into the mobile app for rewards. The location is so busy that sometimes it's difficult to find a parking spot closer to the restaurant. The place is close by and will go back again to try more varieties. PROS: The prices are reasonable, and the pizza size is filling Good deals where you can get your pizza order below $10 CONS: Limited outdoor seating

The pile of poopy paper towel

Poop on the floor and all around bad time. When I arrived no employees were anywhere to be found. I stood at the counter for at least 5 min without seeing anybody. Eventually several employees all came out of the back and made my pizza. The employee that made my pizza was friendly and helpful. A different employee was at the register. This employee tried to tell me that they don't sell a combo meal. The sign that says they sell a combo meal was literally hanging above his head. An employee that I assume was the manager had to come and help. I eventually was able to pay for my combo meal. I then went to fill my drink. There were no lids. The manager then sent an employee that was wearing a dish towel like a bandana wrapped around his face to fill the lid dispenser. It's also worth mentioning there were two dirty damp dish rags bunched up on the drink counter. They remained there for the duration of my visit. Now here's where things get pretty poopy. When I went into the bathroom to wash my hands, I quickly realized someone had clogged the urinal with liquid poop, and caused the soupy poop water to flood the bathroom floor. The poop water was seeping under the door and was pooling on the floor in the dining room. When I mentioned all the poop water on the floor, I was told by the manager that it's not poop water. Staff they just put an absurd amount of paper towels on the pooling poop water. And I guess called that good enough The pile of wet poopy towel just sat on the floor for the duration of my stay. This can be seen in my second photo The whole experience was bizarre and gross. I definitely would not recommend going here Now here's where it gets poopy

Mod Pizza usually my lunch go to with co workers Never have been to the Schaumburg location but did not change my opinion on Mod Ordered my Mad Dog with Corn With the fig topping to finish it off Mod Pizza workers at every location have a good eye for spotting talent. Every worker has great energy and is ready to work.

Chicken BBQ Pizza (Caspian) with added toppings

I'm a huge fan of places that lets me custom pizza and cook in about 5-10 minutes. You get to have fun picking your own toppings and usually the toppings are unlimited such as at MOD (if it wasn't unlimited then it would not be worth it). You can build your pizza from scratch or you can pick a pre-built pizza. I usually do a combination of both where I would pick a pre-selected pizza and add on extra toppings that I like (usually pineapples and ham, added notions and veggies) I basically create another version of my favorite theme which is BBQ chicken pizza. Service is friendly, you get your own food, drinks and box your own leftovers. Hubby and I can usually get away with spending about $20 for 2 individual sized pizzas and a drink. I've been here about twice and prior to that, we use to love going to Pie 5 which is another version of this. Great place to dine in fast food with the personal customization that leaves you feeling special and proud of your own food creation.

Almost two inches here.

The food definitely stands out in terms of quality. It is most comparable to places like Canes , with the chicken/fries/toast combo. However they excel in comparison with their dirty sodas and other food offerings. The fries, cheese curds and Texas toast are all delicious snack options. Everything comes out hot and cooked to order. The portions are a good size and it all tastes fresh. The dirty sodas were a fun thing to try out. During my visits, I tried the "Toasty Marshmallow" (Mr Pibb) and the "Float On" (Barqs) . Both are sweet combinations and are fun treats. There's a lot here that makes them stand out from most fast-casual places and overall provide a quality dining experience.

Shops that offer chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches, fries, and similar options have become very commonplace in this area of the Chicago suburbs. Even without considering the quality of food, there's a few features that make this a hit for me. The dining room is fun, yet appropriate. The value here is great both in terms of quantity of food, and overall pricing. The ice cream that changes monthly provides a fun way to customize a periodic visit. While I'm not crazy about the texture and flavor of it, it's still an enjoyable dessert -- particularly on a warm day. The sides such as fried cheese curds and spicy fries are different. The dirty soda options also provide a ton of possibilities for social media posts and different flavor options on each visit. Service is not too slow for how busy the restaurant is, and parking isn't too difficult. The food is very good here, both in terms of flavor and texture -- and generously portioned as well. The tenders rival the best versions I've had from other dedicated chicken restaurants. Crispy with tender chicken that stands well on its own without sauces, but at the same time has a heightened experience with the quality sauces, which each have a distinct flavor profile. I also enjoyed the cole slaw and texas toast considerably, and especially the fries which were crisp and matched very well with the sauces. The same level of food quality is also present in their sandwiches and wraps, which mix the same quality components together for a delicious product.

The food came quickly but when I checked the burger, it had ketchup on it, so I took it back to the counter and they made a new burger for me. I attribute the error to the fact that they were very busy on this Saturday night, putting out a lot of orders. The burger was tasty, the fires were crisp and the Diet Coke went down easy. Bottom line is always check your food before you bite into it but it turned out all good in the end. Four stars...

For the last few months, the service level here has been getting worse and worse - forgetting food items and basically not caring about the customer. Here's my most recent problem: As I'm sure many of you are aware, if you complete the online survey from your receipt, you get emailed a code for a free large fry. I've been using these survey codes for years with no issues. Last week, I go to the Schaumburg location, place my order - with a new trainee (no problems with him - he was great), and hand him my survey code for my free fry. He didn't know what to do with the survey code so he calls over the manager (Ganzo). Ganzo proceeds to tell me that they no longer accept the survey codes and that the survey reward will appear in my Portillo's Perks app - wrong! I asked when did this new policy start and he's says 3 or 4 months ago and then walks away. I say to him as he's walking away that that's not true as I've used survey codes at other locations several times in the last 4 months and asked why am I still being emailed survey codes if you don't accept them??? He again just says it's only in the app and walks away again. I call him back a second time and showed him there is no survey rewards in my app. He angrily types something into the register and then tells the cashier to give me the fry - the cashier asks how to enter it and Ganzo says "Enter the survey code I gave him" - this all sounded to me like the manager just didn't want to honor the free fry. When I got home, I immediately completed my survey from the receipt, which clearly states: "Upon completion, you will receive a validation code via email" for a free fry. I explained in the survey what happened and requested I be contacted - and as usual, I was emailed a code for a free large fry. Sadly, a week later, I get a totally generic email from "Portillo's" that didn't even address me by name and just thanked me for contacting them - did not address any of the issues I reported or any apologies. I'll be avoiding this location from now on. I now go to the Rolling Meadows and Arlington Heights locations, which so far, have still been providing good service.
