The place has the ambience of fast food corporate chain feel to it. You have several choices in size: Mini (6"), Mod (11") and Mega (11" thick crust). Several sauces: sweet bbq, garlic rub, extra virgin olive oil, garlic pesto, signature tomato sauce, spicy Calabrian chili tomato sauce, and creamy alfredo sauce. Several cheeses: asiago, plant-based cheese, feta, gorgonzola, mozzarella, parmesan, and ricotta. Love their business model and food but they always seem overwhelmed. Tried online ordering the other night and my order wasn't even started after nearly an hour. Pretty disappointed, really want to like their restaurant but it's hard to support a business that seems to not set their employees up for success. Y'all need a better system in place. I've been to this MOD location many times over the years. Yesterday I stopped in for dinner and it didn't disappoint. I love the quick custom pizza concept. I wish someone would bring this type of experience to Carson City. The food at MOD is always good. You build your own pizza or choose one of their specialties, so if it's bad, it's most likely on you! They cook your pizza up fresh and the ingredients always seem high quality. The cheesy garlic bread is always one of our faves and we love the options for gluten free, cauliflower, and thick crust now. I also love the sauce selection after they bake your pizza. My faves are ranch, mikes hot honey, and pesto. There is inside and outside seating at this location. Their drink station with sodas, teas, and lemonades is also nice. The only reason for the 4 star review is on my most recent visits, the staff has been somewhat foolish. They mess around behind the counter, crack jokes in front of customers, and poke fun at each other. While it doesn't bother me, I could see that impacting the experience of others. MOD fits both those categories for me! The concept is simple. You go through the line and choose your sauce, cheese, toppings, etc. The employee puts it together for you. You can go thin crust, double crust or gluten friendly. They truly are artistic when it comes to putting it together from the way they swirl the sauce to the last finishing touch. All the employee are nice, polite and helpful! They bake it to perfection and while it might not be as authentic as Grimaldi's it is perfectly executed in its own right The place is definitely casual and reminds me as if Starbucks opened a pizza place. I walked into this build-your-own pizza joint not having any previous knowledge of it, not even information from reviews. The name alone caught me and I had to find out what or who put the Mod into Mod pizza. Upon entry, I was stunned at how many toppings were available and how they charged a flat fee for each size pizza regardless of how many toppings one would choose. Upon pickup, I noticed how many sauces they offered, free of charge. If you don't know, sauces, when combined in different ways, can make the world go round. Balsamic and honey anyone? Buffalo and BBQ was a favorite of a worker that handed me my pizzas. Needless to say, I had to give it a try and surprise -- it was also a winning combination of their sauces. Have their sauces on the side (to prevent pizza from getting soggy for to-go orders) or put them on before they hit the oven, if dining at their place. Their pizzas were amazingly fresh, with delicious-tasting thin-crust dough that was perfect in texture- light, chewy, and fluffy. I ordered their equivalent to BBQ Chicken- Caspian (with pickled onions and roasted garlic added), a build-your-own hawaiian-style pizza (ham, pineaaple, onions, olives), their cheesy bread (dough, cheese, dried rosemary), and a build-your-own vegetarian pizza that I topped with all veggies except for jalapenos. The veggie pizza I concocted was sooooo good. It surprised me because it looked like it was going to taste like a plain salad. Boy was I wrong. The Caspian and Hawaiian were equally as satisfying. The only selection I wasn't too excited about was their cheesy bread (it's actually a favorite with other customers), which I felt was good, but a little heavy on the cheese. I did forget to ask for marinara sauce, so next time, I'll give it a second chance, since at Mod, they're all about second chances. These pizzas were so satisfying, esp. dipped in their sauces (veggie in ranch, veggie in balsamic and honey, Caspian in ranch and buffalo BBQ). I had a mad scientist moment with my food and it was fun. With good food, must come good drinks. They had that covered. Their drink case was loaded with different selections and among them, a favorite- San Pellegrino (carbonated fruit juices). I also found beer on tap and additional fountain drinks on top of the usual soft drinks. Service was outstanding. The workers that served me were down-to-earth and downright friendly. Pizza came out surprisingly fast. To my surprise, I found out that this company not only churns out great pizzas, it is also making a lasting impact in many communities around America. As mentioned before, Mod is all about second chances, hiring those who have disabilities, those who've been out of the work force, those, like mothers who need a more flexible schedule, and those who have gotten in trouble in the past. Another goal of theirs was to provide delicious gourmet food at an affordable price (come on over college students). They are all for profit, but the creators have also carefully thought out how they can contribute to the greater good at the same time. I am digging this restaurant and its mission and I know now the meaning behind its name. Just when I thought the ordinary chain couldn't get any better, Mod comes along and proves me wrong. You gotta try them out, you won't be sorry. P.S. You see that No Name Cake at checkout? They didn't name it because there was no name good enough for it. This is a unique concept in fast, customized pizza. Went there not knowing the "how to" of the place but managed to figure it out with a little help from the crew. Just ask, don't be shy. Bottom line you order a pizza made with what you want on it and it's ready in only a few minutes. There was a steady take out business going on while we dined in. The pizzas are personal sized but because we are not big eaters we shared two among three of us. Ambience is kind of steel cage like meant to look modern but a bit too glaring and loud from echo with of course the usual insipid corporate whoop music. It's like a fast food style. My daughter escaped from the Silicon Valley this week and came to Reno. She took us to lunch today to one of her favorite pizza/salad joints. It was very quiet in there which was nice so we got great pizza. They have personalized pizzas and salads which is fun. You can pick all your favorite ingredients for each. They have small, medium and large sizes for both the salads and the za. I got the small Cesar salad and a small personal size pizza with my extra sauce and my favorite toppings. Hear me out, in true fat girl fashion, you can not go wrong with a build your own pizza. I mean obviously they have their "menu" as well, but if I can add this that and the third I'm all about it. The adds ons are always fresh when we come here. The "pizaaristas" are always nice, friendly and quick on the line. I think they should have some cool clickey name for their line cooks her obviously. Decent portion sizes, my only suggestion is ask for extra.....everything lol. So that way every bite of your food has everything on it. I've been to a few places in Reno now that allow you to load up your pizza down a line as you go! Between the other two and MOD, you can always count on a Pizza your way! Mod is closer to me than the others however which makes this location my new favorite...and the price point is unbeatable. $8-$9 for a regular personal, rather than $11-$12 for one makes a difference for me. They have it all too! Roasted garlic is my all time favorite thing to get on my pizza now! I got my pizza with white sauce, garlic, mozzarella cheese, chicken, bacon, roasted garlic, mushrooms and red onion. This garlicky, Smokey, savory pizza was everything I needed! I love MOD Pizza. I've been in several times and realized I needed to leave these fabulous folks a review! MOD Pizza is really great because you can either order a pizza off the menu, or go four-wheeling off menu and pick anything you'd like on your pizza. There are so many different options of crust! Cauliflower, original, monster (I think?), and more... I tried cauliflower today! I'd never had it and while it is not keto-friendly, it is gluten intolerant friendly. I'm not worried about either of those, but there's some info for you! Honestly, barely noticed it wasn't bread. It was crunchy and delicious. I was hoping to get a picture of my finished pizza but I totally forgot... whoops! Hunger got the better of me. You'll find the usual suspects when it comes to meat and cheeses, but the toppings are really what MOD is about, in my opinion. The price you pay is flat, so no matter how many toppings you add, it's all one price. It's a true bargain. Today, I got basil, chicken, mushrooms, chopped red onion, red sauce all with a pesto swirl! It's fun being able to customize a pizza and I think taking kids on a 'date night' here would be really fun! Gotta say too, when selecting a fountain drink, try the Marion berry/Blackberry lemonade. I come here every other week for lunch and I have to say their pizza is amazing but their staff is outstanding. I always get a warm welcome and they always say have a great day when I'm leaving. I can't remember the gentleman's name but he wears glasses and has tattoos, he is absolutely a shining light there, very outgoing and friendly and makes you want to come back. MOD is one of my absolute favorite places in town for pizza! The pizza is delicious, the staff are always friendly, the service is quick and the price is right! The restaurant is also always clean and inviting. I love that you can build your own pizza or even add a few extra things to one of their classic creations. My go-to dishes are the Caspian pizza and the garlic bread sticks. The original crust is okay, but I definitely prefer the cauliflower for a few reasons 1) I can no longer eat gluten, so I don't really get a choice anymore haha. 2) The cauliflower crust is super crispy! The flavor is great and you can't even tell it's cauliflower - HUGE win in my book! They offer a small variety of alcoholic beverages if you're in the mood, otherwise they have a soda fountain and a few different lemonades/teas. The Marion Berry Lemonade is the best! Their signature No Name Cake is nostalgic as it reminds me of a better version of Ding Dongs, always great flavor and never dry. The last two times I've been to MOD, I've noticed they have different flavors of the No-Name beyond the original chocolate.
