MOD Pizza is a fast casual pizza chain that Seattle is lucky to call home. This review was written in 2012 and I imagine by 2017 there will be MODs all over the country. They offer consistently excellent pizzas for $6.88. Their pizza is so good, I don't even touch delivery, frozen, or most restaurant pizza. Pros: 1. Price. Price. Price. At $6.88 - there isn't a better pizza I have ever had for the price 2. Consistent quality. I have eaten at the Bellevue and Lynnwood locations about 20 times combined and this one, just like them, delivers consistent quality. They do this with a simplified menu and a great oven. 3. Speed. Even when they are slammed, MOD is quick. For this visit in Redmond, by the time I finished paying at the cash register, my pizza was out of the oven and being cut up. 4. Friendly staff. They do a good job of hiring quality people and I have never had a bad experience. The Redmond staff was especially friendly on this visit. 5. Fun, casual atmosphere. My wife and I eat here after workouts, on a Sunday afternoon, or whenever. This is not a high-end experience, which is great. Perfect for families. Cons: 1. Their wine selection is disappointing. They had a really bad red and white when we went in. I expect more since they are local and we have Woodinville in our backyard. 2. They could use some more desserts. They feature ding dongs wrapped in tin foil (totally hipster) and pizzas scraps covered in cinnamon (twisties I believe they call them) 3. They don't have a huge amount of variety - so if you don't want pizza - probably not the place for you. :) Overall - they nailed it yet again. There are so many people copying Chipotle's successful method of serving higher quality ingredients quickly. This has been applied in the world of pizza with the gold standard being 800 Degrees Napolatana in L.A. MOD has taken a similar, but less glamorous approach, on high quality pizza quickly. The menu offers a variety of pre-designed pizzas that can be customized at no additional cost. However, while you might not be paying for the additional toppings you are getting dough that is cracker thin that has been machine rolled. They say Made On Demand (MOD) but that is not the case for the basis of the pizza. I thought that it was a little dry and packed into my teeth like a saltine does. The topping were of good quality, but I would not say the best I have had. I was left wanting for more of artisan topping than standard NYC pizza fare. All in all if you are looking for a pizza fix at a low cost, this place will do. If you know what double zero flour is, you might be disappointed. What did I learn today? The pizza was good. I really like wood-fired pizza and it's relatively hard to find. This is a double-whammy, though, because it's personalized! NO MORE sitting there with my wife complaining or having to resort to the dreaded "half-and-half" pizza compromise from hell. I'll just get my own. She'll just get her own... the kid will get his own. They even have various sizes of personal pizza, which I think is the missing link for Pizza Hut, Dominos, and those giants - where a personal pizza is basically only suitable for a little kid. Not to mention all their toppings and crusts are complete garbage. Mod has three sizes, though - 6", 11", and a double-crust 11". I got the double-11", which filled me up nicely. My wife might have been particularly famished that day, but she wished she'd gotten the double-11", because she was still a little hungry after the 11". The toppings and cheese were good quality and you definitely get the burnt/wood-fiery goodness on the bottom of the crust. My only gripe - the atmosphere was annoying, loud, and echo-y. I understand the aesthetic they were going for (industrial, minimal, trendy), but when they have to call out peoples' names when their food is done, and you can't really hear it... it's kind of stressful. I'd probably go out of my way next time to pick a different location, in hopes that it's quieter... but I'll definitely hit up Mod pizza again. We were looking for lunch in Redmond and found this on Yelp. It was a super cool place to hang out in the sun. Basically it's a one price pizza. You can have as many toppings as you want! They offer gluten free crusts for $2 more. It only took a few minutes for our order and all the staff was super friendly. We really enjoyed the pizza. The garlic knots were tasty as well and cheap. The winner here was the lemonade flavors!!! We will be back to try more pizzas. read more

Came here before watching Black Panther on Sunday (an excellent movie, by the way!) afternoon and it was pretty emtpy. The staff was really patient with the pizza we wanted to customize. There's a large variety of toppings you can pick from! You can also ask for some extra too (extra mushrooms, thank you!). The best part about my visit here is the draft beer! They had Mannys and Alaskan White on tap and we didnt realize we could get a pitcher, but got a cup of each beer for $10! Such a great deal. Did takeout tonight. The staff told me they would bring my pizza to me when it was ready. I checked once after 15 minutes, again after 30 minutes, and then again at 45 minutes. DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY - You will have more fun chewing on your doormat instead We ordered Mod Pizza online to be delivered - we thought lets save a trip! It was supposed to come at 8 PM delivered by doordash. At 8 PM, the delivery time switches to 815 PM. At 815 PM it switches again to 830 PM. Tried calling the driver - cant reach him - the call wouldnt even go through! Called doordash only to hear that it wasnt directly ordered with them and should contact Mod. Reached Mod central customer support, they say cant do anything , should call local store instead. Called local store they say, cant do anything once the driver picked up! We love Mod - typically. The store atleast offered to cancel the order and refund but cant fix the problem - cant reorder. This is a case where no one takes responsibility - If the doordash cannot promise a delivery , why do you pick up? If Mod cannot take responsibility for their delivery partner, why choose them? Finally at 8:35 the driver shows up. The pizza boxes are on the floor of the car and when asked what happened - we get a "no English" response. So if you like Mod, make the effort to pickup. If you have doordash, unless you like waiting for your food for hours, just delete the app because this is not the first time they provide this type of service. read more

I have been to MOD many times and always found it a great value and quick service. Well I just learned of their new personalized pizza building process (ala Subway, Chipotle) where they walk you down the ingredients line to "personalize" your pizza. While this may make it seem like an improvement in product results it comes at the cost of efficiency! Before even if there were large crowds the orders were taken fairly quickly and the orders came up in less than 10-15 minutes. Now it takes much longer to even place your order so plan to spend more time getting your MOD pizza or go during non peak hours. I will think twice before coming to MOD for a "quick" meal. It's too bad that MOD has to now compete with sit down places like Flying Saucer for the amount of time it takes to get your "personalized" pizza. [3 Stars] -- Update -- I recently revisited MOD at the invitation of some friends and was anticipating the slow agonizing ordering process. However I was happy to see they have gone back to their winning formula and order taking efficiency. MOD pizza is usually my go to lunch place for weekday. I used to go to the Bellevue location and decided to give the Redmond location a try today. Food quality: there is a consistency between both locations on food. I really like that it's easy to customize, able to order online and pizza is made in minutes. Con for this particular location: I ordered online and got to the store right at the time stated. The cashier told me that it should just be a few more minutes since it's in the oven. I waited 15 minutes, and another couple walked in, ordered and received their food while I am still waiting. I walked up to the counter and notice the cashier is holding a broom chatting with another worker. He was nervous to approach me so made another person to give me my order. My pizza was lukewarm and felt like it's been sitting there for awhile. I really do like the consistency in all their restaurants. Everything is the same from the entryway to the kitchen area. Food is always good. Maybe it's bc I love this crust pizzas and able to create my own. I don't know why this particular location is my least favorite. Might have been good when it came out of the oven but when it arrived an hour after ordering it was cold and gross

Ordered 2takeout pizzas. Arrived and was advised they were running behind. No problem. Waited 10 extra minutes and lady called me over and they only made 1 of the pizzas. I had to wait another 15 mins. to get the second, which means the first one will be dead cold before getting home. Pizza crust was flavorless and like a cracker. No chewiness or airiness to edge crust. Mod Pizza in Denver was fantastic with killer Neapolitan style chewy and crispy flavorful crust. This store needs some attention from the owner. Today was my first time having mod pizza because they ordered it through work and I ordered an individual cauliflower pizza with garlic sauce, arugula, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese. I also put roasted garlic on top. It's one of the best pizzas I've ever had. I'm also eating a Caesar salad and I'm very pleased with how crisp the Romain is. Zach let's get over our case notes for MOD Pizza. As we have established across many reviews, we are pizza snobs, right Zach? And while MOD Pizza does not hit the nail on the head for our preferred style, it does offer a decent service. Decent personal pizza, good price. All pizzas (at least, from this location) are $6.88. That's a not a bad deal, right Zach? Choose toppings to pile on, it goes into the fire, and away it goes. The assembly resembles that of a typical taco chain, ala Chipotle, Qdoba, etc. The pizza itself is not bad, nor is it thick. The New York style fan in me is glad for this choice - no overbearance of dough. Also offered are salads and "knots", which served as a surprise, right Zach? We have not encountered Garlic Knots in Seattle of any competence. Sadly, MOD's knots are not what you would expect if you hail from the east coast. They are cheap, so at least judge for yourself. MOD Pizza, while not the pinnacle of the food, is on the better side of the dividing line. Don't discount MOD Pizza, if you're looking for a personal pizza. read more

This was my first visit to MOD and I have to admit, they have something unique going on here. I enjoyed the industrial surroundings and the assembly line pizza build. They also have a really cool, modern version of the brick pizza oven. Your pizza is baked at high temperatures and comes out in about 4 minutes. This crust is more flatbread than pizza. That's okay; I like a chewy crust. I chose the Caspian and added some bacon to it. It is fun to add toppings without adding to your final bill. If you are into finding the "ultimate" pizza you may be a little disappointed. If you want a light lunch or dinner this is the perfect spot. The toppings are fresh and tasty and the bread is baked to a crisp. For a custom made pizza, you can't beat the price. read more

This pizza place is great! It's such a good idea for "fast food pizza," although I have to admit my favorite thing here is the Cesar Salad. The dressing is SO delicious! I highly recommend it! The pizzas are good and the garlic knots are amazing! You can pretty much choose any combination of ingredients and the pizzas are "personal" so you can get something completely different from everyone else you go with. F grade for execution, flavor, and customer service!! I understand that more fast casual restaurants are trying to mimic the Chipotle model, because it works for them. Mod pizza is a great example of why some places should just not even try! I have been in the culinary industry for 25 years and my opinion of MOD Pizza and their business model is that they should just close the doors. The busier it gets the more mistakes that are made! The execution was embarrassingly amateur! My table had three wrong pizza orders out of six! The orders were very simple! One pizza came out COLD! It was remade and came to me with the wrong toppings!!! I saw At least half a dozen orders get screwed up by these guys! Customers saying "oh, I didn't order that"....I lost count on how many refires happened and I can only imagine how many pizzas are given out for free! Great food cost guys! My table had two free pizzas based on screwed up orders!!!! I will never come back and spend my money with such a unorganized and forgettable place!
