I love mod and I've been to this place a ton with nothing but amazing comments. I went in tonight, ordered my pizza but I felt INSANELY rushed by the guy taking my order (no one was in line and the shop had 2-3 small groups) he was very rude, and had AirPods in having a full conversation with whoever he was otp with. When I was waiting for my pizza I was sitting close to the counter. He like yelled out my name so loud I like visibly jumped. Because they're easily amused, don't want to put anything too challenging in their mouths, and typically have someone else paying for the experience. Coming out to the Pacific Northwest from anywhere East of the Mississippi and North of, oh, D.C., pizza in these suburbs can be a shock to the system. Entire chains are built around adding ranch dressing to a pizza when its rightful place is in the garbage. And those are the establishments that will cook it for you. Then there's regional powerhouse Papa Murphy's who's so used to the customers living 30 miles down Slackjaw Road in whatever former logging community they're commuting in from that they not only don't attempt to deliver, they don't own ovens to heat up the pizza. Their whole "take and bake" model hinges on the idea that the white-goods stove your landlord bought at Home Depot is perfectly good as a pizza oven... even in the 65% of Oregon homes using electric ovens. Then you get MOD, which was basically dreamed up by bored parents who saw the Poppy episode of Seinfeld, blew past the abortion debate, and settled on the completely non-hygienic make-your-own-pizza premise. They cleaned that up a bit, but the crux is still "hey, what if we charged you one weirdly exorbitant price, gave you this dough circle, had you do all of the ingredients, and we baked it! The result?! Yeah, it's not great. The "open-face tortilla quesadilla" definition of their pizza by another reviewer is spot on, but the target audiences for this dreck absolutely do not give a shit. They're driving down from Kirkland to inspect Costcos in Hillsboro and Beaverton and don't have time to look up "good pizza" or "good restaurants" or "anything unique at all." They want something that tastes the same anywhere, even if that flavor is half-trying parent's pizza party for a 10-year-old in Everett. MOD Pizza isn't pizza, it's resignation: The acceptance of a sub-mediocre experience in exchange for never having to go through the process of trial and error. One of these in Downtown Portland is turning into an actual, independent Neopolitan pizza shop, but there aren't enough inflatable frog suits and tall bikes in the region to wash this chain out of the 'burbs completely. read more

This place is right around the corner from a movie theater and in front of a bank. There is private lot parking. This is a place where you can customize your pizza any way you like it. All the pizzas come in the same size but you can change the type of crust, sauce, toppings, seasoning, and finishing sauces. I got a pizza with all the meats, jalapenos, ranch and buffalo sauce. Then I got a "No Name" cake. The "No Name" cake is the perfect combination of chocolate goodness and whipped cream filling. The pizza was great. It was filled with toppings and exploding with flavor. The fancy hoho like dessert cakes are moist and dipped in dark chocolate true treasures but wish had discount on buying multiples to make family sized options 4 equals the price of a whole pizza. Cane sugar sweetened ''Mexican" glass bottled cokes are another big fav and a nice albeit very expensive option again in multiples for a family of 5. The place wasn't too tidy during the lunch hours. Even though it wasn't the busiest, and there were quite a few tables empty, but mostly dirty. The pizzas were baked perfectly and tasted like Mod's. It was my first time with garlic cheese bread and they weren't innovative too as they were done on a similar pizza crust. I wish they were more like garlic knots than a pizza. It is a pizza place and so may be they didn't want to digress too much from that. I went on a Tuesday while they had a fundraiser and I was treated so well and I got one of the best pizzas I've ever had. So, while this is by no means pizza nirvana, its a pretty tasty and inexpensive spot to grab a bite. This is a fabulous place for kids. Not fancy, huber affordable, pizzas can be tailored to very specific tastes, and they have milkshakes!! Staff is very friendly and eager to please. They also seem happy. I like happy. Didnt have that tailored pizza or shake this time though, I had the pizzas in my photos chosen off the menu, a salad that easily fed two people, and pear iced tea ( cloying, traded it for a perfect lemonade). The space is loud, the music is loud, and its hard to think. My pizza eating companion felt the ordering was hard with not super clear instructions. Overhead menus suck. I liked the cracker crust,the salad, the topping choices and the prices. I can bring Princess and her middleschool posee in here after a movie and not break the bank entirely. I will be back. Today MOD launched their Hillsboro location! A new pizza place in town:). Whoot whoot! Made-On-Demand (MOD) Pizzas are hand crafted and baked in wood fired oven. They are mainly based on Chiptole concept. Loved the customize your own pizza option! Get any amount of toppings at no extra cost. Their standard pizza is for $7.17 and they have mini 6 inch pizzas and double crust mega mode pizzas as well. So far loved their service. I am glad they opened in Hillsboro:). I hope to get same quality and service for my next visits too. Keeping one star for next time. read more

The food is amaZing but the process is horrible same with every mod, they have two people making pizzas is not enough. The lines get really long, and pretty much never go away, and it takes forever. I got here at 2:50 and I was in line till 3:13, that's 23 minutes of standing in line and ordering. I saw 5 people or so actually leave the line because they got tired of waiting lol. WOW!!!! What a great place!! The guys were so patient & friendly with everyone. Fiancé & I do NOT agree on pizza toppings so this concept of building your own individual pizza was GREAT! It was like going down the line at Subway but with delicious pizza instead! I was skeptical about the garlic strips, especially for such a low cost but they were sooooo good! Turns out I could only eat half of the 11" individual pizza. Oh and the tea!!! I am an iced tea snob but love trying new variations. I got their carmelized pear tea. Interesting. I used to come here all the time, but I've noticed that this location has gone downhill!! The employees always used to have such great customer service, but the crew that I've seen here over the past several months are rude and don't care about the quality of your order. I've had burnt pizzas (entire bottom of the crust is black) and uneven toppings (everything piled in the center rather than spread out). I've even had an employee get upset at me for asking for the pesto drizzle when my pizza came out of the oven. And she refused to add the sauce! She said she could only do it if I requested it at the beginning of my order. Is this a rule at this location? Every other Mod Pizza that I go to gladly adds one or more finishing sauces to my pizza at the end. Cedar Mill, TV highway and downtown Portland locations are much better! Drive to one of these other locations if you want to be treated nicely and want to get what you pay for. read more

The man who was starting the orders was very kind and friendly. However, the tall lady with lots of eyeliner that put the toppings on our pizzas was quite the opposite. She had a very annoyed demeanor and a scowl on her face the whole time. She also rolled her eyes when I made a request for light sauce. The cheese was also empty and she had to refill it, and when she did she proceeded to slam the empty bin on the ground making a ruckus. I love almost all pizza but this stuff here is rather unmemorable. So I figure I better write my review right now after lunch lest I forget how blah it really was. I'm thinking that if they put more sauce on the thing that would likely improve the flavor a great deal. I was going to order with extra sauce but I ordered online and didn't see an option for extra anything. Now, ordering online via my iPhone is cool. I dig the ease but as I mentioned, there's no option to customize my order by asking for extra sauce. If there is such a feature, forgive my ignorance but I did search diligently.
