The concept of making ones own pizza seems to be taking off and that's what this place offers. They have many fresh ingredients and options. Salads were quite good, as were the pizzas we ordered. Service is friendly and rather quick, even during a busy Saturday night. The restaurant has an industrial look, so it's a little hard to tell just how clean the place is, but it appeared neat and clean. Fun place to take the kids. Tons of toppings, the pizza come out super quick and the final product is delish! The crust has a great balance of crunch and chew. Their red sauce is well seasoned without being overly salty. Good quality mozzarella. I have to say that you could probably be satisfied with their small 6" pizza. Not stuffed...but not hungry, either. And the small is under $6! Interesting beverages. D.C. Brau in tap. They also had a carmelized pear iced tea at the fountain station. Used to be great - great service, great staff and good food ... now it is not so great. Slow service, they run out of items like romaine lettuce and instead of cutting more they say they don't have any (happened multiple times now)... no lemonade, bug in the ice and pizza is often undercooked or they treat you poorly if you ask for "a bit more" of anything. It was not always this way but it will be our last time here. We were regulars now we are just disappointed when we decide to try it. Choose something else! read more

So back when this first opened, I came here with a buddy and was kind of in the middle of "no pizza" mode so I had a chicken caesar salad that was just okay. Fast forward a year or more and when I was on travel for work, ran across one near the hotel I was staying at and really liked the pizza. Riding the wave of loving MOD, I came back here tonight. The place was crowded which is pretty normal for this place. I ordered the mini Tyler and just had water to drink. Normally I have more to say about these places, but there isn't a lot to say. The service was great, the food was OUTSTANDING. I mean, it simply is what it is - great! What's also cool about this place is that a pizza costs the same regardless of what you get on it, so you can really load it up without the per-topping charges you pay with like Domino's or whatnot. Only criticism I had was the Tyler was supposed to finish with BBQ sauce and they forgot that, but that isn't why I wanted that pizza, so it was all good. I found this place despite the hype to be very overrated. Called, "The Chipotle of pizza", it's pretty much just glorified pizza, but to save myself from writing such a diatribe of a review, here's some pros and cons. Pros -Quick service. To get pizza made like that in under 15 minutes is impressive. Time is really the essence at this restaurant. -Friendly staff. The pizza makers, or whatever you call them, were very cute and friendly offering their own favorite suggestions. -Good taste. Pizza did not taste like it was a TV dinner. -Nice selection of drinks. They do serve alcohol, but I got their milkshake, which was pretty much just like a Wendy's milkshake (not the Frosty). Cons -Glorified flatbread pizza. That's really what it is. -Small portion sizes. I got only 4 slices for the biggest pie. I was hoping for at least 6. -Rather pricey. I get it, milk prices and wheat prices have caused the price of food to skyrocket. But I didn't feel satisfied for the price. -Confusing layout. They have a lot of pictures and paraphernalia on the walls, but they aren't clear where you go to put your trash away. The concept is unique, which I see draws the crowd it does. Okay so this place is unique and fun but, most of all, delicious!! Think of chipotle concept but for pizza - you get to have them make your pizza right in front of you and get as many toppings as you want. But! Be careful, don't give into the MOD n00b temptation of going insane with toppings - my wife and I went crazy the first time we ate here due to a lifetime of topping-stingy pizza joints. Too many toppings can make the pizza not taste like pizza anymore... so learn from our mistake! But luckily we decided to give it another shot and this time we were reasonable with how many toppings we asked for and BAM! Best. Pizza. Ever. It's thin crust (although you can get thicker crust if you want) and their Mod size is more than plenty for one person (making it nice as everyone can get their exact personal pizza, no more having to split toppings down the middle!). Unless I am super hungry, I usually end up with 1 or 2 pieces left to take home for lunch the next day. Ever since we discovered how good this place is we've made it our weekly Friday night date! The atmosphere is really fun artistic. They staff is INCREDIBLE!! My wife and I have been coming here every week on Friday night for almost a year now so we've become pretty familiar with the staff. They are Rock Stars! Shout out to Anne, the manager, she seems like a great leader and always says hi to us and makes sure we are taken care of. Then we have Bailey on the oven (best at getting our pizzas perfectly crispy) and a bunch of other super friendly fun staff ready to make the best pizza possible (Christian, Bryce, Hazel, Indie, Cali and others). Seriously great group of people. Ps ask for a sticker and see if you can get yours higher than ours on the pole near the back - good luck! Another thing: it's fast! Sure, on a Friday or Saturday night the line can be pretty long. But they are pretty efficient and once you get your pizza in the oven it only takes about 5 minutes or so for it to come out. If you are on a time crunch just go online or call in and they can get your pizza made ahead of time so you skip the line. If you order online you can pay and literally just walk in and pick it up. our advice on the best pizza possible: - cheese and extra red sauce - pepperoni - jalapeños - olives (I like olives, my wife skips this part) - then BACK to bacon last so it can sit on top and get crispy in the oven! - salt and pepper That's it! Pro tip: ask for it extra crispy / well done (or tell Bailey, the guy usually on the oven "code red"!). If you want a little extra food and fun with your meal, order the garlic strips. Very tasty and they have excellent dipping sauces to go with it (my wife likes the pesto dipping sauce and I like the Sri-rancha which is some sort of siracha and ranch mix I think - it's good!). They have pretty decent house wines and beers, as well as some beer on tap and then a great selection of high quality sodas. We love the house wine because A) it tastes pretty good and B) it comes in a can that is the same size as a soda can, so it's about 12 ounces and is perfect for two people to share! For desert They have this little tasty little specialty called "no name cake" and let me tell you... wow. It's like a hostess ding dong on steroids and so much better! Try one you won't regret it. That's about it. Try MOD pizza out if you haven't yet or give it another shot if you went topping crazy and didn't enjoy the pizza (remember more is not always better!). If you have more than 6 phoned-in orders that need to be cooked at one time, don't keep your in-line patrons waiting while you make all 12. Updated - went today for lunch with a friend. It was good :) ordered a mini for myself and with a drink it was a super cheap, yet filing meal. My last review's complaint about not having the topping list available while you wait in line was fixed- they had a box of paper menus and it was full this time. I guess someone forgot to fill it last time. Overall, good meal and fun to design your own pizza! We enjoyed MOD last night. We had attempted to try it out a week or so ago, but it was packed and there was no seating available. So we tried again, but a little earlier in the day this time. We made the right choice on time of day (5pm) as there was seating this time! My biggest complaint is that they don't have a list of all ingredients available while you're waiting in line. They do have a menu of already designed pizzas, but if they do have a topping menu, they weren't available the night we went. The ordering process may have gone quicker if we had a list of possible toppings before stepping up to order. But what we wound up having was very good and enjoyable. The pizzas were affordable- and it was nice to have a less expensive option for the younger or smaller appetites in our party since one of our girls eats with an adult palate, but has a kid sized stomach. The drinks were good, the husband and one of the kids tried the lemonades, which were strong but yummy. Another favorite fast-casual chain! I can't complain about all these new businesses hopping on the chipotle-style train. And even better is that at Mod Pizza, you can get unlimited any toppings for no extra charge! How great is that? So unlike other places where you might be limited to one type of protein and a certain number of veggies and so on, Mod allows you to put whatever your heart desires on your personal pizza. I love this. It also does not fall under the category fast-casual for no reason. We were seriously amazed by how quickly those pizzas came out. They were cooked in the brick oven but still were so fast! It's probably due to the thinness of the crust, which now leads me to talk about the pizza itself! I usually love a fluffy crust pizza but I think that what they do here is great. The crust was crispy and yummy so by the time you finish your slice with all the toppings and softer section of crust, you make it to the end where you get a nice crunchy snack! I got the Jasper and added arugula and roasted red peppers to it. I like how you can pick a one of their options as a place to start because it probably helps someone like me who would end up putting completely all random toppings together (although my mom did this and it turned out yummy too!). I was visiting family in Virginia when I came across MOD Pizza, which also has locations in my hometown of Atlanta (exciting). Having never been before but knowing of its roots in Seattle, I stopped by for dinner, looking for something healthy, light, and tasty. I wasn't expecting much from a DIY-pizza chain stop, but MOD Pizza met all my expectations and exceeded some. I presume mod to stand for modular, which means customizable 'mod'ules or units, and that's exactly what makes MOD Pizza shine. Food: 5/5 Again, I was looking for something healthy, light, yet tasty, and with zero expectations of finding that at a pizza shop, I was surprised by how delicious my pizza was. MOD lets you choose from different sizes, mini (6"), mod (11"), and mega (double 11"). I paid attention to the calorie counts, and the mini (@300-400 calories) was what I was looking for in a dinner portion that night. Since I had a big lunch, I opted for the veggie option, and the closest one on the menu was the Tristan. It came with mozzarella, asiago, roasted red peppers, mushrooms, and pesto. The crust was thin and delightful - while the toppings used were fresh and well seasoned. I've been to a number of DIY pizza spots in both MOD's hometown (Seattle) and in Atlanta, and MOD's pizza had the best taste of them all. Service: 5/5 The staff here explained the menu options fairly well - when I initially ordered the mini, they warned me that it was small. I actually thought it was a decent size for around 300 calories (I felt full after eating it). I also told the staff I was looking for something with more vegetables, and they let me customize it to make it happen. Some of their team members were having a team meeting in the main dining area and they all acknowledged me as I sat down waiting for my food. This shop is well-run. Environment: 4/5 I can't really recall much about the decor, other than that it was well lit, clean, and resembling that of a Chipotle. Nothing really stood out, and being a chain, they all have a cookie-cutter approach to aesthetics. Bottom Line: Call it the Chipotle for pizzas, but this chain actually served up the best tasting pizzas in the DIY, fast-casual pizza category. Pricing is extremely reasonable - $5.25 for a mini 6" pizza with fresh ingredients makes it in the Subway category for a good deal. The healthy options and carb counts also make it a great lunch/dinner stop for those on a diet plan. The days of eating large, greasy cheese pizzas and ending up with leftovers in a box are over. I'm looking forward to trying MOD when I get back to Atlanta. read more

This was my first visit to a MOD and my wife's first visit to this location. The first person who took our order seemed very distracted. We had to repeat orders to her several times and even as she pulled the dough off the racks still got it wrong. While beginning to make the pizza, what did you order again? My wife got a salad and as you watch them make it you can see the items they are putting in. One guy started making the salad and walked away and the lady he handed it off to began arguing with my wife that the feta cheese in her Greek salad had already been put in. Take a look and see if it is there, no, it is not. Then she said oh, we put it on the bottom. What? Ok, the bowl is clear, look on the bottom and see if it is there. No, it is still not there. I thought toppings were unlimited? Why are you arguing about a sprinkle of cheese that is clearly not there? Let's ask the other guy if he put the feta on. He said no. Finally we get some feta. I like the way the crust on the pizza is cooked but it has very little flavor. The sauce, cheese, and toppings were good but spread it on cardboard and it doesn't really matter. Seating area had a lot of crumbs left on the tables and napkins, straw wrappers, condiment wrappers, etc. on the floor. There were no straws in the self serve drink area and even after telling staff, were still not replaced by the time we finished eating. This staff in this location gave me a bad impression from the start and it did not get better. My wife says the other locations are not like this so I would be willing to give them another shot but we will not be returning to this location. read more

Went here yesterday and was appalled to find the place FILLED with fruit flies. I'm not talking a stray fly here or there, I'm talking full on invasion. There were dozens on dozens on dozens of them up the walls, on the display signs and buzzing around the workers. While standing in shock and awe that none of the workers seemed concerned about this, we also noticed associate using his bare hands to handle dough (in fairness the hand he WASN'T using had on a glove) while prepping the pans for prep (the dough that's about to be your pizza). He was also smacking the pans on his jeans to remove the dust or something before smacking the dough down bare handed. Now I'm not a health inspector, but this does not seem at all up to code. Needless to say we went down the street for non buggy food. Which really sucks as I was pumped to have both gluten and dairy free options available. Management here needs to step up! read more
