Came here for good pizza and MOD Pizza delivered it to me! So many choices and combinations to fill your pizza need! The interior is modern and well done with the ingredient bar in full sight when you get ready to order. After a little bit of indecision I got the Dominic with extra chicken and black olives. Changed the tomato slices for the roasted ones and had a perfect combination. They cook them fast and it came out ready to eat! I LOVE mod pizza. The choices you have are endless. I really appreciate pizza places having crust options for others. I get their mad dog pizza with cauliflower crust and with the modification it is about $13. My daughter's kid cheese pizza was about $8 I believe and with 2 drinks the total was about $30. I normally get her the regular 11" and she can eat the whole thing, when I got her the kid one, she said that's it ? that's how much she loves their pizza. They cook it perfectly every time . When we walked in, all the workers said hi or welcome at different times and one said "you guys are so uncoordinated " lol I didn't mind though. The guy making our pizzas was a little quiet and seemed to need help but he was nice. Everyone seemed very sweet and helpful. They keep their establishment fairly clean as well. I love their aesthetic as well with all the photos on the wall. Fast food pizza sounds crazy. It might be crazy but it's also pretty awesome. On the front of the building on the sign it says "super fast" and that it was. I've never been to a MOD Pizza before. I was out of town and following my people to where they wanted to eat. I am very particular about what toppings I put on my pizza. I was happy to find out that this place has build-your-own personal pizzas. On my pizza, all I got was pepperoni and pineapple, my fave. It came out within 5 minutes. It was spectacularly fast. By the time we got our drinks and picked a table, our food was ready. Was it good though? I thought so. I ate some then and saved half for later. The personal pizza I got was 11 inches. That's pretty big to eat all at once, though I could if I was really hungry. They had a bunch of miniature pizza boxes by the drinks. I grabbed one of those and put my left over pizza in it. Very cute little pizza boxes, way too small to put a whole pizza in. However, for just a couple slices, it was perfect. It fits in the refrigerator nicely. I heard that they opened a MOD Pizza in west ashley. I'll probably be trying them out one day soon. The pizza at this location was great and so was the service. I will keep this place in mind next time I travel to Columbia and I'll make sure to try out the Charleston locations as well! read more

My bowl overflowed a bit and the staff wanted to put it in a bigger bowl so that it's easier to eat from (this was at the end of my order when I finished with my topping selections). However, she was instructed to only serve it in the small bowl and whatever overflowed was to be trashed. The location is great for us, the people know us by name and are always awesome, the pizza is just fun. One thing I wanted to make sure to highlight is this. You will never run out of options at MOD because they are always changing things up. We go all the time and there are usually new ingredients and fun new items to try. It never gets old for being the same concept. Quick Read: Gluten Free? No. We don't normally go here, but went to change up our routine. We started off feeling safe when they asked if my pizza crust was gluten-free for preference or allergy - they changed gloves right away. The glove change didn't matter when they cross-contaminated my entire pizza and placed it directly on the oven floor where previous wheat crusts were baking. Corporate clearly doesn't understand Celiac disease, and while the employees mean well, it's just not safe. I literally had to walk out and throw out my entire pizza (I wasn't about to be rude to the employees) and go elsewhere. Food allergies are no joke and I'm surprised at how careless MOD is with them. Edit in response to owner: Gluten friendly means absolutely nothing when you're cooking on surfaces filled with wheat flour. Takeout for lunch, first time. The order was ready right on time, the staff greeted me and were very friendly. We got the 11" pizza's: mad dog and another. Perfect portion, hot and fresh. We're veterans and visit Dorn VA several time's a month (transplants from Tampa, FL). We have been to several fast food or takeout type restaurants around Columbia and were very disappointed. The restaurants have been dirty, with rude or careless staff. They made mistakes with our orders. Really gave a bad impression of Columbia. I am a fan. I can't help but thank of Cosmo Kramer when I think of making your own pizza. It's not quite make your own, you get to choose toppings kind of like going to Subway, but this is with pizza. The people working there were really nice and helpful. You can pick from standards on the wall, or just come up with your own. You can also go with a standard, but alter the toppings. They offer a cauliflower crust, which I thought would be a good low carb option, but then I read later that it's still high in carbs, because of the other stuff added to make cauliflower look like a pizza crust. They asked me my reason for going with the cauliflower, which I found a bit intrusive, but then they explained they just wanted to know if I had any allergies. My wife loved her pizza, and liked mine a lot. I was a little disappointed that the cauliflower crust is a bit misleading, around 87 carbs in a whole crust, for that reason I go with 4 instead of 5, but we will be back. read more

This is the first time I've experienced the sandwich-line model (Subway/Moe's) used to make pizza, and I have to admit to loving it! The number and variety of toppings (and drizzles!) is beyond reproach -- from the expected (pepperoni, sausage, mozzerella) to the upscale (asiago, gorgonzola, ricotta, artichoke hearts) to the "Why haven't I ever thought about putting this on a pizza!" (roasted cauliflower, rosemary). My wife loved the fig balsamic glaze on her custom pie. Our pizzas were transferred from the line to the oven and delivered to us within minutes. Minutes! Their salad bar looks just as scrumptious -- any toppings that can go on your pizza can go on your salad. Heck, they even have a salad pizza! I plan on trying the salads next time, but I can't pass up a gluten free crust when one appears in my dietary landscape. MOD Pizza opened 6/28, so the employees are still "green" and have corporate trainers breathing down their necks and watching their every move... which made for a kind of awkward experience. The set up is like Moe's (they even yell "Welcome to MOD!," when you walk in). They offer 3 different sizes with "unlimited" toppings for the same price - so of course portion control is key. I felt like they were a bit stingy on the cheese... my coworker ordered more than 5 toppings and the corporate chick was watching the creation of her pizza like a hawk. After you order, you move down the line to pay, after you pay, you kinda stand around near the drink machine or wall alongside tables with people dining while you wait for your name to be called (you can also order online if you want to skip the line). I paid $8.61 for a "mod" size CYO pizza - I was hungry and it was decent. They have quite a few toppings and finishing sauces to choose from so the creations are endless. I don't think I'd want to dine in due to the set up of the place (from ordering to waiting - the line follows around along the tables and people have nothing better to do than to hover over and watch you eat, while they wait.) All staff were friendly (hoping it doesn't wear off after corporate is gone) - a few of the trainers were a bit snippy with the staff, which I'd rather not be a witness to... the process was fairly quick, I'm glad a new food option is in the area and I do look forward to trying the place again once things have settled down. read more
