The staff was friendly. The crust was a good balance of crispy and chewy. Not over think but not paper thin either. The toppings were fine. Best pizza in Columbia? No. Good place to try? Sure. Note: I was almost turned off by the other reviews. My thoughts... Others critique the abundance of college students. Well, it is located under a student-friendly apartment near USC. College students are going to be there. Some critique the brown/black bottom as burnt. Pizzas are backed in a pizza oven, not a Pizza Hut assembly line oven. I wouldn't call it burned. Point is, don't be turned off by the stars.

With all the different meats, it leaned a bit salty, but still enjoyable. The mozzarella sticks were also really good. Service was on the slower side, especially since the restaurant wasn't very busy. The first Sprite tasted off and came out more like plain soda water with some particles in it, but they did bring out a corrected one which we really appreciated. Overall, Village Idiot is more about the vibe and being with your friends, so we still had a great time.

It had Mozzarella, Asiago, Mushrooms, Roasted Red Peppers with a Garlic Pesto Finish. I am a lover of cheese, so this was perfect for me:) My husband tried the Mad Dog. He said it was tasty and he liked the crunchy thin crust. It had Mozzarella, Pepperoni, Mild Italian Sausage, Seasoned Ground Beef and a Signature Tomato Sauce. I adored the Cheese Bread! It was light, not overbearing with cheese. I enjoyed the taste. Overall, the meal was great, and the customer service was wonderful. Looking forward to trying out something different next time we visit.

We got there about 20 minutes after opening and sat in one of the booths. The waiter took our orders quickly and brought out our drinks. We ordered 3 personal pizzas and a steak and cheese sub. We had one plain cheese pizza, a Supreme personal pizza and a build your own personal pizza with pepperoni, onions and mushrooms. We also ordered one small Garden salad. 1 sweet tea, 2 waters and a diet coke. The salad was excellent. Crispy cold lettuce with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, two types of cheese and good croutons with ranch dressing. The steak and cheese sub came out and we were surprised when wee saw the bread. We were expecting a regular style hoagie bun or baguette type bun, but looked almost like a pita bread from the top. I asked the waiter what type of bread it was and he said they make their own bread. It was excellent. Looked like a naan bread almost. She ordered jalapeno's on it and it was excellent. Said she'd order it again. The pizzas were good. I had the supreme and the sausage was real good. We all agreed that the crust and cheese were very good. Two of us thought the sauce was different and must've had something it it, as they didn't rave over the sauce. I had the supreme and there were so many toppings that I didn't pay much attention to the sauce. Mine was very good. We were surprised that they only offer two sizes of pizzas...personal and large. Large is $24.95 and personals are around $14.95. They have a good selection of pizzas. Our one complaint was the pricing. They charge $2.00 for toppings and $3.00 got premier toppings. It's the same charge for either the personal or large pizzas. Our personal Cheese pizza (with no toppings) was $9.50. My personal Supreme pizza was $14.95 (which contained mushrooms, onions, pepperoni, bacon, black olives and green pepper) while my wife ordered just a personal pepperoni with onions ($2) and mushrooms ($3), totaling $15. Seems like they'd charge less for toppings on a personal size than on a large! My bill as $43.97 before the tip. Our neighbors bill for their pizza, sandwich and drink was $32.59 before tip. They were charged $4 for jalapeno's on the side and slices of tomato.

We took our 2 kids and there are no high chairs (to be expected with this type of establishment). The booths are roomy and we had no problem with our toddler sitting through the meal. Our kids each had a slice of cheese pizza and the slices were giant. The food was hot and fresh. Items did come out one at a time with the kids food last but it was all within a few minutes so no big deal! Overall, a great trip to Village Idiot. Will be back again next time we are in town!
