Delish food & great service. Ordered an extra cheesy pepperoni pizza and it did not disappoint! Restaurant is clean and provides lots of seating. & that appetizer bread will have you full before the main course. It's delicious!

Stop by to get wings...the wings were just the way I like them. Crispy...loved the lemon pepper & hot buffalo sauce. Pizza was good. My wish list is that they had a house made wing sauce. Something different! Check them out!

I ordered the Alfredo Fries and Lamb Gyro. The fries were nice and crispy just like I asked for. The Alfredo fries were great. Nice and flavorful. The lamb Gyro was good. I lived in Europe for three years. I used to eat, gyros all of the time fresh off of the roller. I have a higher standard than most people for a Gyro. The Gyro at this location was OK. It was not amazing and it was not bad, it's right in the middle. The Tzatziki sauce was extremely cucumbery. They should use less cucumber next time. The sauce overall was about a five out of ten, it was average. The overall atmosphere inside of the restaurant is great. There is plenty of seating and a nice bar. They do not sell liquor at this location but they do have wine and beer that you can buy. The waitress was wonderful. She made sure I had everything that I needed and that I was ok.

Tucked away in the Big Lots shopping center on St. Andrews

An excellent addition to the pizza scene, By the Fire is a wood fired pizza place near the Big Lots on St. Andrews. I was bummed out that my favorite place closed a few months back but I think I might have found my new spot! They know how to make a really good pizza. They started as a food truck but their dining location is nice, clean, and comfortable and I expect this place to do really well! Their homemade crust is just the right balance between crisp and airy with a little bit of a balance. Although doughy crust is not my favorite, they managed to get just enough doughiness without going over the top. I ordered the spinach and artichoke pizza which was quite flavorful. It has an olive oil instead of the marinara and the cheese is almost creamy in consistency. This particular pizza has both mozzarella and ricotta and they were quite good! The toppings were fresh and I can only eat about half of the pizza as it was very filling! The good news is I now have leftovers and I am excited to eat them! I had the cannoli for dessert and it was quite tasty as well. They have a few items on their menu to include wings, salads, sandwiches, and a few desserts. I did get a side of the marinara so I could try it and dip my crust in it and it was actually quite tasty so I am sure a regular pizza would be just as good but I am glad that I got the one that I got because it was excellent! It is almost brand-new but they already have a few folks that appear to be regulars. The only negatives were the lack of unsweet tea, and the service was a little bit slow because they are understaffed. Like most other places they are in the same boat but I'm confident that once they can get some more folks on board that will correct itself. I didn't have to wait too long and they were quite friendly so it was not a detriment to my experience. Every brand new place has issues that need to be worked out and they will. I look forward to returning!

Incredible addition to the local, small business pizza scene in Columbia. By The Fire is a hidden gem off the beaten path close to Irmo, in a shopping center on St Andrews Rd. But it's well worth the trip out there. Talked with the owners once and you can really see their passion for making a good pie. I encourage patience too as a good pizza takes time to prepare and cook. Pictured is a chicken and jalapeno pizza.

Upon arrival @ 2pm the large restaurant was fairly empty with the exception of only a few tables/booths. Was this a sign to turn around an abort the lunch mission? Thankful, the emptiness was not a sign of anything ominous. Lol. We were promptly seated at an intimate booth and served by the oh so pleasant Shannon. She was extremely sweet and informative, as this was the first time trying out Travinia for each of us. We started with calmari for the table. We were speechless by how delectable it was. The mix of assorted pickled peppers with in the perfectly fried tentacles and the marinara, also with a little heat was so good. We honestly consider a second order. A couple of us started with Blood-Orange lemon drops and decided to select options from the lunch menu. We each ordered one chicken pesto Sando and one chicken parm sub to swap and share. The third in the party went rogue and opted for spaghetti bolognese and a mini loaf of garlic bread. Once entrées were served the table was silent... a sign that everyone was pleased. lol. My choice was the chicken pesto and I swapped half for the chicken Parm sub. Both were good, however the chicken pesto by far was the front runner. The pesto was well-balanced with the right filling-to-bread ratio. It was simply just very tasty and I wish I didn't agree to share the other half. The chicken Parm was ok, however, there was too much bread to chicken parm ratio and it lacked a little flavor. Both sandwiches were accompanied by a side of pasta salad that was also enjoyed. We all left full and happy and I look forward to returning when I'm inevitably bullied into visiting SC yet again. Just A Note: After review of the menu, they can be considered pricey. Nonetheless I suggest giving them a try for lunch if you want to check them out and definitely opt for the chicken pesto sandwich.

Rachel was quick, witty and so sweet and had a way with the kiddos my daughter loved her. We started off with the cast iron goat cheese as the appetizer- solid and even the kids loved it. Literally tasted so fresh and delicious, my husband was going to go with the steak however they unfortunately were out so he went with his second choice which was the creole shrimp and grits which he cleared the plate but that too was sooo delicious. Our waiter recommended drinks for us to start off. I had looked at the menu already so I knew I wanted to try the tuna tostada for an appetizer and my girl got the brick oven broccoli. The tuna was so fresh and melted in your mouth and it was perfect with the chili lemon mayo and capers, giving it a nice pop and spice. The tostada was cooked perfectly and had the nice crunch. The broccoli was cooked well , not hard but not soft and had some spice to it. I ordered the hanger steak with sweet potatoes instead of fries and omg it was so good. I got my steak cooked medium well, and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I loved the Parmesan on top of the sweet potatoes. It was the perfect pair. The drink I got was a white sangria which was sweet but not too sweet. You could def taste the wine and all the fruit flavors. My girl go the oven brick salmon and that didn't miss either. There was also a nice roasted red pepper and black olive salad that came with it. My only criticism is that I felt like the portion of octopus was small for $21. Then I decided to try the Boeuf bourguignon. This was definitely comfort food. A very tasty beef stew, but a bit different recipe than I'm used to for this dish. Theirs has potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, and onions. But the broth tastes like they might also use a touch of tomato paste. I could be wrong. Nonetheless, it was tasty and the thick broth was yummy on the piece of crusty bread it was served with.
