Good pizza at a decent price. Papa Gio's is one of our go to spots for take out when we are home.

We stopped in while visiting the area and unfortunately the experience was pretty underwhelming overall. The staff didn't seem very welcoming -- in fact, they appeared annoyed by even the smallest customer interactions, which made ordering and dining in feel uncomfortable. The restaurant itself has that classic New York / New Jersey-style pizza parlor vibe -- small, cramped, and a bit run-down -- but in this case it leaned more toward dirty and damp than charmingly old-school. Because I have significant issues with traditional gluten, I ordered the gluten-free pizza. It's made on a pre-packaged cauliflower crust that was largely flavorless and had a somewhat uninspired texture. The sauce was bland and really needed seasoning, and the cheese was simply... cheese. Nothing particularly good or bad, just very average. That said, I'm grateful that I didn't have any negative reactions after eating, which is always a concern for me when dining out. Go for the pizza, not the pasta. I ordered the chicken Marsala and it was not creamy and delicious like I have had it at other Italian places. It was dry noodle and an ok chicken filet. I tried my daughter's pizza and it was delicious! Garlic knots are also yummy. So if we go back we'll be getting pizza. The place is kinda small, so you may have to wait for a table. The vibe is very family/casual, with TVs on and the kitchen open behind a counter where people come get takeout orders - quaint enough, but not high ambiance or fancy if that's what you want. read more

This was an emergency backup for the failure of Za in Columbia. We were starving. Stopped in for a quick early dinner. They had slices premade and topped off in the oven. The garlic knots were exceptionally tasty. Copious amounts of garlic. Only downside was lack of variety of beverages. Nice little spot. read more

WOW AMAZING! I have never had such a great dine in experience, the staff are amazing and the food was made fresh! I came in on Monday there were two girls, the one that helped me said her name was Sophie, she had an excellent smile and tremendous service. I did notice she was very efficient and was doing a lot. A friend and I went on a pizza tour today, hitting 4 shops for a slice each. We started at papa gio's and couldn't pass up trying the sicilian too. It was my personal favorite crust of the day. Perfectly crunchy, on the outside and soft on the inside. The sauce was not my favorite of the day, but I will be back for that Sicilian treat at some point! read more

I get tired of chain pizza restaurants so this place is not only convenient to my business yet also tasty and just what I need for some bomb a** pizza! Love me a cheese pie. First time I got one at Papa Gio's it was the real deal. Stromboli same. Since then it's been hit or miss. Few times OK, few times not. Haven't been in a couple months because of the inconsistency. Truthfully, I'd just as soon make the trek to Dano's where I can get great pizza EVERY TIME. Gio's service seems a little abrupt. Great Italian food! Just like New York, the big slices, the authentic pasta it's all great! They play Italian music but not too loud, so you can still hear people at your table. We ordered take out on a Friday night around 7pm. There were two parties eating inside and several to go orders. We were told the wait would be about 30 minutes and it took that amount of time. I felt like that was an appropriate time to wait. The garlic bread knots were delish. Huge order! It was an entire to go box filled with a side of marinara. Truthfully, I liked them more than the pizza. They get 5 stars! Perfect dough and plenty of garlic and cheese. Delish! We got a large pepperoni pizza. It was good, but I wasn't blown away. I prefer veggie pizza but kids won on the order request. Kids enjoyed the pizza and gave it 4 stars. My oldest son agreed the garlic knots were his favorite... This place has garbage customer service. I came in 40 mins before close for a stromboli and asked for specfic ingredients (pepperoni and beef). I get home and see that they added peppers, onions, and mushrooms. While initially pissed, I calmed down and called the restaurant to ensure my refund for the next time I come in. Never before have I gone through an interrogation at a restaurant for a mis-prepared meal. They told me that I told the cashier incorrectly what I wanted, despite me insisting that I asked the cashier if I can have specific ingredients (pepperoni and beef) with my wife as a witness. Reluctantly they said I can get a refund if came back that same night (by this time, 6 minutes before they close), or they will remake me another one tomorrow. I told them I'm not coming back tonight, and that I will bring it back tomorrow for my money back. Again, they reluctantly agreed. Fast forward to the next day, I bring the stromboli back and I'm getting interrogated again! Placing the blame on me on how I ordered the stromboli and how they are going to refund it today (as if it was a favor towards me). They proceeded to try and refund me the subtotal of the stromboli ($22.95) until I pointed out the sales tax that was also due (about $2.30). A new disagreement came about with them claiming the tax is included despite me showing them the receipt, subtotal, and overall tax for the purchase (we also had a cheesesteak and fries). Four employees/managers in the restaurant and I'm looked at like I don't know what I'm talking about. Eventually they caved in and gave me $24 (still the incorrect amount). At this point, I didn't feel like arguing. I took the money and left. While Papa Gios food is pretty decent, the customer service I experienced was despicable. I will never go back, and I urge you all to find a place that will value you as a customer. read more

They had the nerve to give us a menu and then charge us more than the menu prices s based on the fact that their new menus would be in soon. So our 15 dollar pizza became 16.95' our Samford went from 9.99 to 10.99 and the drink went from 2.25 to 2.50. Not a huge amount of money but extremely unethical. This place used to be great but now it's just a disappointment. The prices used to be competitive, delivery used to be free, & the staff used to be competent. Now, however, the prices seem to keep rising, they started charging for delivery (& were, quite frankly, very rude when asked about it) and the girl ringing up the order couldn't figure out how to change a one topping pizza in the family meal deal to a specialty pizza. These places never seem to make it for long once they start making these kinds of changes & quality drops. I know I won't be recommending them to anyone like I was before. There'll be another good pizza place to replace them eventually... Update...tried to give this place another chance. Called in and order and was told it would be ready for pick up in 20 minutes. We showed up to pick it up on time and paid then were made to wait an additional 20 minutes before we asked why it was taking so long. The same girl lied and said she wouldn't have told me 20 minutes she would have told me 30. (Even though it had been 40 at that point) Lied as if I wouldn't know the difference. FINALLY at the 52 minute mark it was read. No apology for it taking more than twice the time we were quoted. Last time I'll ever come here! read more
