My family ordered pick up and got a large meat lovers pizza. The outside atmosphere looked like a regular mom and pop place which is ok sometimes you can get the best foods from those places. I don't like pepperoni because certain kind is very salty . I asked instead of the pepperoni substitute sausage. The price ended up being much more than the price on the menu almost twice the price . I didn't ask for extra meat just to substitute. Okay the meats on the pizza taste good but the crust was very chewy I had to pull and chew with my teeth. We've been trying local pizza spots to celebrate National Pizza Month, and several people raves about this spot. Established in 1966 it really is a well kept secret (at least to me) of Columbia. It has the local hometown feel when you walk in, and when we called ahead to place our order- the person taking the order was just a sweet as she could be! We went with LaBrascas Special, and just a heads up, they chop up and layer toppings. I LOVED this, but my husband prefers mainly meat and he had a hard time picking the toppings off (wife fail). We also got cheesecake and WOW... do not skip this. I regret not ordering the cheese salad, because all my friends have raved about this too, but I will be back to try this. It's not perfect, but I'll always love it. I love how the inside does not seem to have changed in the past 50 years. The food is good, too.

So we drive across town for me to experience this amazing pizza. We pull up in front of the restaurant and there are signs stating "No Mask No Service". No worries!! Always wear our masks! So I have eaten this place three times since moving here from the West Coast. Mind you I grew up in Detroit, was a frequent visitor to Chicago and New York so I know different types of pizza and what good pizza tastes like. Sadly, this did not come close to any of it. I was disappointed because I like helping local places where I live because I prefer them to larger scale eateries. Let's begin ... the crust is chewy, dense and lacks any sort of flavor profile. It reminded me of the rectangle pizza slices I'd get in elementary school. The sauce was okay but, lacked anything other than a canned tomato taste. Then the cheese and toppings were some of the blandest stuff I've ever had. Even their famed "Cheese Salad" was nothing to write home about as the cheese on it had almost NO flavor profile (if that was feta than it's something made to serve at hospitals because it did not have ANY Greek flavor what so ever) plus their salad dressing tasted like store bought generic stuff. I will say their wings were decent though I wish they'd cook them a little bit longer to get that "crisp" texture to them because they were slightly soggy/soft. Now, after speaking to locals, I have heard "rumors" that due to COVID-19, they no longer get their sauce from where they used to nor their crust from their previous supplier as both of them closed. If that is true then that sucks and I am sorry to hear this. I wonder what it was like to eat here back in the day when it was better maybe? Overall, not gonna spend money again sadly unless they change things and improve the product. Service was good and they definitely cleaned the place and added more to the menu but they really need to consider making their own crust. The sauce is good and the toppings are too. The cheese...hmm it doesn't melt or taste so it seems not to be a quality ingredient. People who grew up here go for the reminisce I think cuz it tastes great to them but I honestly have to wonder as I honestly have had all the frozen and chain pizzas out there and this is the worst I have ever had. Two stars feels generous. Plastic dishes, forks and knives, and foam cups. Plasticware couldn't cut thru the crust which was almost certainly frozen off a truck. There's absolutely no way the crust was made in house. It was a burnt disc that hurt my teeth to bite into. The only redeeming quality was kind servers and decent sauce/toppings. I haven't been in years and decided to go back for old times sake. First of all, the owner and his wife were out of town. I ordered the cheese crust with mushrooms, onions and hamburger. As soon as I got home I was very sick for about 6 hours. The food poisoning can only be attributed to the fact that the owner left teenagers in charge. It was awful. There was a piece of cheesecake in the dessert kiosk but I thankfully didn't try it because it was old and dried up. The kids said either the owner's wife or mother makes them but she was out of town, too. Please take the time to hire an adult manager. First time here.... we arrived and seated ourselves. Which is ok. Not a big deal. We ordered a cheese salad. And a medium pizza with pepperoni , sausage , ground beef and extra cheese. And sweet tea. The salad is good. The dressing is very tasty. Loads of cheese. The pizza was delicious. The crust is just the way we like it. Crunchy. It's a good size. Next time we'll do a mini. The sweet tea! People I find are split right down the middle on this place, hell my wife is not a fan. But I really don't care what others think about their pizza because I am fond of it, it doesn't have to be fancy or out of this world it's pizza. Even with several negatives reviews I'm sure this place could care less because every Saturday after a few beers we head here and the line is generally out the door and a long 20 minute wait on pizzas to go ! Labrasca's is close to my office so it was a little shocking that I've never been there before. I saw the mixed reviews and didn't know what to expect but I love pizza and local business and thought I'd check it out for myself. The front room is small but there are more booths in the back room. It's seat yourself and my friend and I found a table in the back. It took awhile for someone to come take our orders. I got the small mini 6" pizza with pepperoni, sausage, ham, and bacon. My friend got an 11" pineapple and ham pizza. We waited for awhile for our pizzas (it was ok because we were taking over the Pokemon Go gym right by the biz) but it was worth it! I thought my pizza was super delicious. Tons of toppings and the sauce wasn't too heavy or sweet. The crust on my small pizza was perfect. Crispy but not overly done and it supported the weight of the million toppings and piles of cheese. My friend's larger pizza wasn't quite as crispy in the middle and was a bit on the soggy side towards the center of the pie but the ham and pineapple were delicious! I would definitely go back again and with it being so close to my office and next to the PoGo gym I'll be there soon! read more

I have been eating pizza from Labrascas for almost 50 years and always enjoyed it until recently. Tonight I ordered a take out of a medium with everything except anchovies and a cheese salad. I don't know if they are under new management since the pandemic or what the problem is. The Pizza was undercooked and the crust was like rubber. My wife took one bite then scraped the toppings off and ate it with a fork. The cheese salad was just a fraction of what it used to be with very little cheese and a small amount of iceberg. The Italian dressing was amazing as always. I hope that this was a one time experience. I will try them again, but another experience like tonight, will end my patronage. I've been hearing about this place for decades -- first time eating there. I wanted to love it because I love supporting Mom and Pop local eateries. I didn't hate it, so there's that. But ultimately I felt like it was "OK." To be more specific, it really tasted like eating a frozen pizza from the grocery store -- or as some have pointed out, kinda like school cafeteria pizza. I can pinpoint the main issue. It's the crust. The crust is clearly not made in-house. I don't know if this is because of some logistical issue, but I feel this place would be vastly improved by making their own crust. The crust really has a bland, chewy taste that tastes kinda like putting a Tostinos in the microwave. The cheese is passable. Not bad, not great. Where this place shines is in the sauce. The sauce is really good. This COULD be a GREAT pizza with a better, more-flavorful HANDMADE crust. I don't want to put down a local place, but it's a lot of money to spend on a pizza that tastes about the same as a grocery party pizza. Also, what's up with taking the sauce and toppings all the way to the edge? It's nice to have a little crust on the end to be able to pick up the slice. I was introduced to Labrasca's a few years back by a friend of mine who grew up in Columbia. They have been going for years and years, and it is very apparent why! When you walk in the door, you are immediately greeted by the staff, both working at the counter and in the kitchen. This is a local, family business where they treat you like one of the family. The atmosphere is one that will take you back in time, but it fits this little pizza joint. The pizza is delicious, and you simply must try a salad with cheese! First time here. Drove from Lexington and it was well worth the drive. We met the owner who was working hard in the back. So nice to see the owner managing business and taking a role. Our pizza was awesome. Thick and filled with goodies. So much cheese on top, prolly more than any other pizza we've ever had. This place is definitely old school and aims to please. This place is a local place that's been around for decades. It's unique. The vibe inside is cool and laid back but take out is king. Basically, it's new york style pizza (google it if you're confused; all the pepperoni wont be on top) any way you want to order it for a great price. i like the taste of their ingredients especially sauce and crust, also perfect cold, and yes it compares to pizza ive had in nyc. they also have their cheese salads- a bed of lettuce covered in pizza cheese with a slice of tomato and side of homemade Italian dressing. it's different but delicious. I wanted to love this place because it's down the street from my house but I just cannot. It's average at best. Very mild flavor and the crust taste pre made not fresh. Maybe they do make it themselves but it doesn't taste like they do. They put canned mushrooms on our pizza. The cheesecake did taste homemade and was delicious.
