Mochido has a pop up downtown in Bentall Centre until the end of December so I was able to conveniently try more of their donuts without pre-ordering. The texutre is so chewy and soft! They had some new flavours inspired by Culinary Class Wars (I got Chestnut Tiramisu) and I also tried the Vietnamese Coffee which didn't exactly taste like Vietnamese Coffee but it wasn't bad.
i've enjoyed mochido donuts at the night market and consider them one of the best offerings there. i've also had mochido donuts at muji, and picking them up at their commissary kitchen on laurel street in vancouver, however, was a very different experience. nothing can compare to the taste of a freshly fried mochi donut at the night market, which is definitely worth the wait. its hot, crispy goodness that's fun to share, and pull apart. i happened to be at the location to pick up buttercrumbs cookies, and on a whim, decided to call mochido and place an order for two flavours: black sesame and kopiko. in just a few minutes, an employee came out with my order, and after a quick tap to pay, i had my donuts. between the two flavours, i found the kopiko (coffee flavour) to be my favourite. although the donut wasn't warm and crispy like the ones at the night market, it was light, soft, and had a pleasant chewy texture.

At Mochido, they handcraft their mochi donuts fresh to order, specifically around your scheduled pick-up time. While there might be a wait for your orders, trust me, it's absolutely worth it! The fusion of savory and umami flavours with sweet and delicate chewy donuts worked very well. We tried the chinese donut rice roll, cuttlefish ink puréed egg yolk bun, durian mochi and salted brown butter flavours. Everything reminded us of happy dim sum memories and the egg yolk donut stole the show for us.
Delicious, light, chewy mochi donuts. They're addictive and every flavor was amazing. I don't think I can enjoy a normal donut ever again after eating these. We brought them home and they were gone in 15 min. Like a blink of an eye!!!!
Had the opportunity to finally try Mochido! They're mostly known for their mochi donuts in which the texture is quite chewy. I ordered the box of 6 ($16.95) with their June flavours: Churros, Cookies & Cream, Coconut Ube, S'mores, Salted Brown Sugar, and Black Sesame. All of them were pretty decent, but I think the cookies & cream and churros was my favourite. The cookies & cream had a lot of Oreo bits and I liked that there were many textures that went into a single donut. Churros -- I liked it solely for the taste. It tasted exactly like churros you would find at amusement parks, except with a chewier base (due to the mochi donut itself). I didn't really enjoy the salted brown sugar donut as it was a little bit too salty for my liking. However, the butter taste was pretty strong and this one would be a good option for those who prefer savoury-style donuts. Overall, I found this quite pricy (comes down to ~$3/donut) and not super worth for the money as the donuts itself are not too big either. I like that they were very innovative with their flavours and how they introduced "mochi-style" donuts to Vancouver. Mochido would be a suitable option if you were looking to try something new.
You must get your hands on these super delicious mochi donuts! @mochido.yvr There are 6 flavours for $18. They were all very soft, chewy and delicious! Churro - My favourite one! Taste just like a churro but better as its soft and chewy. Matcha - Can't go wrong with matcha, though I wish it was a bit more stronger. But still delish! Strawberry - Hubby's favourite. Strong bold strawberry flavour. Black Sesame - Very fragrant and delicious, not too sweet which was nice. Coffee - The coffee wasn't very strong so it tasted more like a latte which was still good. Salted Brown Butter - This one was also really delicious with the sweet and savoury!
Place is alright... nothing special... just a lot of Instagram hype unfortunately. It tastes like how it sounds... Mochi stuffed in donuts... but neither of these parts were done well. Mochi was now soft and chewy and the donuts were pretty mediocre. Wouldn't get this again - great concept but poor execution.
Soooo...good!! Kids loved it. Will be back next week again. Lol Ordered and got fresh donuts within minutes.
Kirin x Mochido collab. SOOO GOOOOOOOD. The flavours I picked: Durian mochi x2 Chinese donut Black sesame Salted egg yolk Churro Durian is pungent - better than expected cuz you can actually taste the durian! The black sesame is very sesame. Like the black sesame pudding. Chinese donut has an intense pb taste - plays off the sweet and savoury. Pork floss on top. It's basically the same ingredients as the chinese donut rice roll so flavours are spot on as expected! Churro was basic but solid. Salted egg yolk was my favourite! The pick up location is SUPER inconvenient though. Theres very little parking available (it's an industrial area so the spots are all filled), and the area has limited street parking too. Mochido's pick up service can be improved though. Even though you preorder for a pick up time, when you arrive you have call for service (it's on a tiny post it on the door LOL). And then you wait while they put your order together. It took about 20min for me to get my preorder. Thankfully my husband was able to wait in the car (we couldn't find parking), otherwise I'd have to spend more time waiting for parking too.
With a huge hype on social media about this place my wife and I decide to give it a shot. It did not disappoint. There are couple reasons why I give it a 3 instead of 4. Mochido"nut" - 3.5/5 the donuts are delicious. It got the fluffy texture like the bubble waffle but also chewy at the same time. My only advice is to eat it while it is hot or else it taste different after you microwave it. Many people will say "same goes with any other bakery or donuts". I believe part of it is right due to there are donuts out there that taste amazing after 20-30sec in the microwave aka Mello donuts. My wife and I both agree that their original mochido tasted amazing and we would go back for more. The rest of the flavor really depends on what your taste preference is. Top 3 for me were 1) original 2) black sesame 3) taro crunch . Being super picky I felt salted brown Butter was a little too salty. Suggestion to the owner- there are flavor mochi out there. I feel if you incorporate that towards the mochido that will enhance the flavor. For example: taro mochi in taro crunchy mochido. Service - 3/5 I feel they need to be a little more organized. Staff are great and helpful but there were couple customers left due to lack communication at the front. For those that didn't order online and wanted to order on the spot It is a little bit challenging. Price point - I personally feel it is a bit pricy. If I was around the area I would go back again.
Best chewy, soft, tasty donuts. Our favourite is always the Brown Sugar donut! It's easy to get even if you don't pre-order.
Loved loved these donuts. It's in a really obscure area. There is no storefront at all. An employee comes to the door and takes your order. Best to order online or call in ahead of time. They only have 7 flavours and they change regularly. I thought all the donuts were delicious and very different. I really enjoyed the salted brown butter one.
First thing off the top - I highly recommend you place an order on-line or via cell ahead of time before coming down here. This location is strictly a kitchen & not a restaurant. If you're not sure about flavours, call & ask them like I did - clear good explanations for each flavour available on the day you place your order. I ordered 6 flavours - Black Sesame, Elote, Tres Leches, Mangonada, Churro & Original Glaze. I thoroughly enjoyed each & everyone of them! Mochi donuts are chewy & sweet. How to best enjoy them - because they come in several flavours, you'll really want to try all of the half dozen or more you order. I'd highly recommend you cut up each donut with a steak knife (better cut & makes it easier) into 4 pieces. Then try each flavour out. Eating one whole one by itself could actually ruin the experience of enjoying the rest of them. Put the rest away at room temperature for later. If you put them in the fridge overnight, warm them up slightly before eating them. Keep in mind that this is a very delicate to the palate treat & not like regular donuts you might have weekly with coffee. So to truly enjoy mochi donuts, take a break between orders of about a few weeks or you just won't enjoy them the way they're meant to be enjoyed. The Vancouver location isn't a walk in and sit down shop, instead you have to order through phone and pick up your order from a door. The donuts are really chewy and I like that you can rip them apart easily to share. It's a good balance of salty-sweet dough but my favourite is definitely the mochi texture. I don't usually eat a lot of sweets so the glaze on top can be a bit too sweet for me (I got mango, and peach oolong flavours). I think for the price and experience, I'd come back again to try the other flavours! read more

I love these donuts! I've had them before at the night market and couldn't forget about them. However, they aren't always on the way and not all the special flavours were for me. So when they came out with these flavours, I knew I had to pick some up because everything sounded so good! Flavours: Red velvet Strawberry daifuku Lychee rose Black sesame Salted brown butter Churro We ended up getting 3 boxes of half dozens. Don't judge, some were for friends! The chewy donuts were best enjoyed fresh. Out of all the flavours, I still liked the salted brown butter one from the regular menu best! read more

First time trying mochi donuts and it was pretty good. I tried the original, churro, and HK waffle. My favourite was the HK waffle, although the amount of biscoff cookie crumble varied on this one. The original was also good too. Churro was disappointing as it actually didn't taste like very much. The ones with glazes were definitely better. Overall the chewy texture was interesting. I recommend pre ordering your donuts ahead of time so that it's a quick pick up. I didn't realize it was at a commissary kitchen, so I had to call them to come down and order and then waited about 10 minutes or so for my order to be ready. The box the donuts came in was cute. read more
We got two boxes (1 dozen total) of randomly assorted mochi donuts from Mochido. They were super chewy, light and stretchy. They taste best warm and fresh out of the oven so eat them super fast when you receive them. I love the texture of them and they taste very similar to the ones I had from Mochill in Japan town of SF. I was the most excited about the black sesame though the icing was so much thicker than what I expected and compared to the one from Mochill so I was a bit disappointed there. But overall the entire texture of all donuts were amazing. Most of them were really really sweet but they're donuts so what can you really say? My favourite was probably the lychee snowflake. As soon as I took a bite out of it I instantly craved my favourite bbt: grapefruit green tea with lychee jelly LOL. The taste of this donut tasted EXACTLY like lychee jelly. So impressive! We also ordered a strawberry milk and it tasted so yummy. I'm slightly lactose intolerant but I really wanted to try it. Tasted a little but too sweet but the strawberry purée tasted extremely fresh. They're located in kind of a weird location - they don't have any seating inside their store and you have to wait in a line outside their door while they prepare your order and bring out your boxes. The line can get pretty long so I'd suggest to pre-order online for pick up! Otherwise you'll need to wait in line and order at the door and wait for your order to be made. After seeing SO many posts about mochi donuts, I just had to find some in Vancouver to see what the hype is all about! However, I made the mistake of not eating them right away while it's still fresh darn stomach. Supposed to have a separate stomach for desserts but apparently my lunch took over both spots so I didn't get a chance to try it until late at night. The first one I tried was "Easter bunny" - purposely got this one for the many #Easter collabs but of course...I forgot to take a picture when I had good lighting no solo picture but it's probably for the better since I made a mess. I do like the texture of mochi donuts but aside from that, I don't really see what the hype. It's just soft and chewy and very sweet on the top! I ate the buko pandan and black sesame the following days. While it didn't have that same "freshness", it wasn't stale so I was still able to enjoy it. I was quite looking forward to the pandan since we don't have that in Saskatoon (that I've seen) and gotta say, I don't see what's so special about it I do want to try a different dessert that's pandan flavour to get my full verdict on it though. I also got the Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk and panna cotta. Can you believe this was my FIRST caffeinated drink out of my 5 days in Van?! I know I'm shocked too I really liked the drink but definitely $$$ so probably not again... In conclusion, I'm not sure what I was expecting for the mochi donuts so there's no disappointment? It tastes good and maybe I'll get it again if it ever makes it way to Saskatoon! read more
I heard rumors that Mochido mochi donuts were good but little did I realized it was THIS good!! We ordered the Gingerbread KitKat + Churro + Black Sesame. This is the kind of dessert/treat where you would close and flutter you eyes as you savour every bite! It had the perfect mochi chewiness yet the firmness to be eaten like a donut! The flavours were spot on with just the right amount of sweetness! I really enjoyed the holiday flavour, Gingerbread KitKat! Although 3 donuts was more than enough for the two of us...a big part of me wished I got the half a dozen! They have preorder or walk ins but if your want make sure you get all the flavours you want make sure you preorder in advance cause they do so out! read more

FANTASTIC donuts. The black sesame was absolutely the best. Churro was ok but needed more sauce or drizzle and other flavors were just a little bland overall. They were all a great combo of crispy and fluffy and fresh. The pickup process was so odd though, location is weird and parking is highly limited. read more

I didn't realize how busy it would be. This place is in the middle of nowhere in some warehouse industrial zone. We waited around 25 minutes and luckily they didn't sell out. I don't really like donuts but the texture of these were SO SOFT AND CHEWY I LOVE. reminds me of korea! I got three flavours: Black sesame: my favourite! Churro: the flavour was good but needed a bit more sugar/icing Coconut ube: this tasted more like coconut than ube, if you love coconut this will be good! I'd def go back, but I recommend pre ordering so you can just pickup and go! read more
Newly opened mochi donut shop in metro Vancouver. It's in high demand so it's hard to get it since they only have limited quantities everyday. They offer per-order on Tuesday and Friday and also walk-ins from 1pm until sold out. We have got half dozen donuts ($16.95): - Matcha - salted brown butter - black sesame - strawberry - coffee - churro My favorite of all six donuts is black sesame, but other flavors are also good. Probably the most popular place as of right now. The hype is real! These boxes sell out within minutes online. If you really want a box, be sure to wake up early to preorder yours. They also do walk-ins, but I hear the line is always really long and they do sell out quick. Taste wise, these are actually so worth it! A box is $16.95 and it comes with all of their flavours. As of this review, their flavours are: churro, strawberry, black sesame, coffee, salted brown butter, matcha. My faves were the salted brown butter and matcha. Salted brown butter had a perfect balance of sweet and salty. The matcha was good too, but could've been stronger. The donuts itself were all nice and chewy! These didn't last very long since they were so small! I would pass on the drinks since they were quite expensive for the size. The Vietnamese Coffee with Condensed Milk Panna Cotta was strong but it was $7. The other drinks were $6, Strawberry Milk was disappointing because it didn't have much strawberry flavour and was nothing special. read more

Yummy! A client of mine came by and wanted to give me a box of these. I told her no, I don't want an entire box and only took 3 (I regret my decision lol). I ended up getting the black sesame, lychee and churro. They were all so delicious and I'm a suckered for anything mochi. My Dad really liked the black sesame, I wasn't a fan and found it somewhat salty. The churro was nothing special and I actually thought it was a sugar donut, but still yummy. The last one I had was lychee which I thought it was strawberry until I bit into it. I'm definitely going to get a box to myself! read more

My whole family are big fans of donuts, but we ended up tossing most of them to the bin. They look super nice but just not sweet enough, far from what you expected from donuts. The next day they are all stale and the only place to go is the bin. Hard to believe when you have kids and none of them would want to more than 1. The shop expected a 10% tip on the pick up orders but the place was a trash and not easy to park. read more

Famous donuts in town, line up everyday. We got there before opening, but still had to wait for half hour. There is a limit that each person can only purchase 12 donuts. All the flavors taste so good, totally worth the waiting. read more
Not worth the hype. The base of the donuts are all the same, they just change the glaze. The box of six looks small, but because the donuts are very sweet, you wouldn't want to eat more than one; problem is, they're stale the next day. Great for Instagram but mediocre donuts. read more

These donuts slap! They live up to the hype and it's no wonder they are always sold out online. It took me weeks to try to get an order in at 9 am on Tuesday. I would try to order right at the crack of 9; yet, I was still unsuccessful for weeks. Someone must have been buying a truckload of them. I finally got my hands on a box of 6 and couldn't wait to finally try them. When I got to the location, there was already a long line. I tried to look for some signage seeing if there was a separate line for preorders. Seeing nothing, I asked the girl in front of me if it was the line for preorders and she said yes. After waiting for 30 minutes, we both discovered that preorders could go right to the door! *face palm* Therefore, if you've preordered, don't wait in the long line like I did. Just go stand at the left side (when facing the door) and let them know you've preordered. I wish they had signs indicating that as I could have saved a lot of time. Anyway, I wasn't expecting much from the donuts as I've tried other iterations of so-called mochi donuts and they were disappointing (the only other place that has stellar mochi donuts is Little Fox Bakehouse in Richmond). However, these donuts were so good and I totally get why people are going crazy over them. My favorite was probably the salted brown butter and strawberry, although they were all excellent. I will most definitely be ordering them again if I can manage to get another online order in! I don't suggest going to the store and waiting in line as you'll be waiting a long time and risking not getting any. But yay that Vancouver finally has a legit place to get pon de ring mochi donuts! read more
