I tried this popular style of Portuguese donuts in Hawaii and they were so good. And now Mochi Joy has perfected them and brought them to Indy. I tried three flavors: haupia (coconut) custard, vanilla custard and a cinnamon sugar. The custard filled are the best and they were so delicious! I also picked up mochi donuts because I couldn't resist them and they were all fantastic as well. Honestly, these are the best mochi donuts in Indianapolis. Such an open and cozy vibe! They have a local art, candles, and plants to sell in the store. The server was super sweet helping to explain the menu to us. My cousin and I shared a coffee (taro coconut, honey lavender, and toffee) and matcha flight (banana, pandan coconut, earl grey) with a variety of flavors you can mix and match from. I have driven past this location so many times and had no idea it was right here! Gah!! Tucked in to the side of a plaza between a pool supplies place and a nail salon, Mochi Joy gives adorable as soon as you enter the shop. So many options! I tried almost every donut they had and a malasada and a latte! Favorite? 1000% the iced banana oat milk latte with banana pudding cold foam. I don't know who is making these creations up but it's giving me life!! I did order decaf because it was 4 pm and I need to sleep. So out of the donuts- I have to say the Taro, the biscoff, and the Dubai were probably my top three. The taro was very sweet while the other two were not. I also tried the raspberry and the lemon one and I wouldn't order those myself. The malasada was filled with vanilla custard and was rolled in cinnamon sugar. I'm just not a custard girl. This was my first time trying Mochi donuts. I was drawn in by their book display. Such an exciting place to bring the family to hang out at. They have quite the assortment to choose from. I discovered Mochi Joy recently because... Yelp! I hadn't visited, yet, and was waiting for Mother's Day. What an adorable little shop! Bright, fun and cute (it is really hard to break the Oxford comma habit!), this shop is inviting and, dare I say, adorable. The kind lady behind the counter did not hesitate to answer my plethora of questions ("would you say I have a plethora?") and exhibited the highest level of patience with me. I left her a tip to show my appreciation, but then found out she was a manager and she doesn't get tips. But my good will wasn't foiled because she said it will go to her well-deserving employees. Now, that's a great boss! These donuts are fire! I love the little pearls of dough all working together to make the cutest little donut ring. I didn't know what to expect, but the donuts were a delicacy. Light and airy with a spongy texture. As you eat them, they turn a little doughy like a fun magic trick. Updating my review, because it's been more than three years since I last reviewed Mochi Joy Donuts. They now have their own brick-and-mortar donut shop in Fishers! No longer are they operating out of the Noblesville VFW. I was ecstatic three years ago when Mochi Joy came to Indy, because the owners are from Orange County. (OC people, let me see your hands!) They were the first ones to bring the concept of Hawaiian mochi donuts to the state of Indiana. Selfishly, I get really excited when things that I enjoyed in Southern California come to Indiana: Slapfish and Del Taco (coming soon!), to name just two. Now, three years later, there are many other mochi donut shops to be found all around Indy. But to me, Mochi Joy is the O.G. from the OC, and they will always be my go-to when I want a mochi donut. The shop is very cute and bright, with lots of seating and a nice couch by the window. They have about 15 different donut flavors available, with some special seasonal flavors that vary. I picked six different mochi donuts (taro, cookies and cream, banana, strawberry funnel cake, chocolate toffee and Fruity Pebbles). Their donuts are always fresh. In fact, they are so fresh that I had to wait a few minutes for them to dip a couple of them. I saw a sign that said that they also sell breakfast burritos. Sold! One of the things that I miss about SoCal is the abundance of places to get a slappin' breakfast burrito, and so I had to get one of their Hawaiian breakfast burritos to try. Breakfast burritos taste 500% better when you eat them while driving (a fact that has been scientifically tested by me numerous times), so that's what I did, with my cute box of mochi donuts as my passengers. read more

After hearing about Mochi Joy for months, I finally decided to stop by for their Memorial Day promotion! I got a 6 pack of donuts including their Pandan latte, ube Samoa, black seasame, lychee raspberry, and Golden Grahams smores donuts. I knew they were going to be good, but didn't expect AMAZING! The donuts weren't overly sweet and the frosting actually had flavor (not just a generic sweet flavor...it had FLAVOR flavor). The dough is so light and the mochi aspect isn't overly chewy. They have truly mastered the perfect mochi donut. My fave was the black seasame! I love their Asian-inspired flavors especially after a recent trip to Hawaii. They also have plenty of savory Hawaiian-inspired foods, including veggie options (veggie dogs!). I'm definitely going to try some out the next time I visit. I didn't interact with the owners, but I saw glimpses of both of them and they genuinely looked so happy to help customers and make drinks/donuts! I really love it here! Something big happened today...I officially became a matcha fan. Before this, I didn't like matcha because my previous experiences weren't very authentic. Lauren at Mochi Joy suggested I try a sweeter matcha (they offer flavors like strawberry, pineapple, and lemonade), and she mentioned adding vanilla cold foam to make it creamy. I happened to be here for an event and decided to get some extra items for myself...and then two days later made my husband go back again. I am officially obsessed with this place. I ordered the matcha latte flight and chose taro ube, coconut pandan, and salted toffee caramel. The flight came with a little glass of Topo Chico, which is my most favorite sparkly water ever. All of the matcha lattes were good, but the taro ube was my favorite. I also ordered an ube donut and a Dole Whip donut to take home to my husband. When he returned a couple of days later, he brought me a taro ube matcha latte, an ube mochi donut, and a yuzu lavender donut. Let me tell you about these donuts. They were phenomenal. The Dole Whip and yuzu lavender were fresh, clean, and light flavors. The lavender wasn't too heavy, and the yuzu shone through. The ube, well, guys, if you aren't on the ube train, better hop on, because your taste buds will thank you. I don't think I'll be able to rest until I've tried all the flavors of their donuts. Finally visited the Fishers location. The shop was very clean and spacious. There was plenty of seating which I feel like is an issue at most donut shops. I ordered three donuts. Two were St. Patricks Day themed. All three donuts were fresh and had a good soft chew. I also ordered an iced coconut pandan latte and it was delicious. It even had some green in it to go with the theme of the weekend. I love the taste of coconut but it wasn't overpowering. I just wish the donuts were a little less expensive. I've been a long time fan and follower of Mochi Joy Donuts since their early beginnings selling out of the VFW in Noblesville, and now living the dream with a Brick and Mortar storefront in Fishers! I love the clean and bright interior that is serving chill bungalow vibes. There have been many Mochi Donut places that have popped up in Indy since they started, but Mochi Joy always rises to the top with the quality of their donuts - a satisfying chew, texture, and super fun flavors. Never too greasy or oily, and they really do nail it with their icing and toping combinations - it's what really delivers the flavors in their donuts. Mochi Joy is constantly expanding their offerings and trying out new items, like their shortbread cookies and cake scoops. I tried the King Cake cake scoop, and it was the perfect balance of frosting, cinnamon sugar and cake. It also keeps really well in the fridge so you don't have to scarf it down in one sitting - even though it's hard not to! I've really been into Matcha Lattes, so I decided to purchase one here. I liked the options of flavors they had. I decided to try the iced mango matcha latte. It didn't take the worker long to make it, and I was able to watch her make it, which was cool. When I got it, it was in layers and looked really pretty. I tasted it as it came; it wasn't bad. I shook it up and it tasted better. All of the mango was at the bottom, and I wish it were spread throughout the drink a little better to get more mango with each sip. The price of the drink was fair. The inside of this establishment is on the newer side and very pretty. There is a lot of natural light beaming through the windows, and the furniture is sleek. I don't expect that in the future. Many people were excited like me and ordering everything! The owners were prepared and while donuts sold out they were ready in the back to replenish the flavors. I have been a Mochi Joy fan since they were located in the VFW in Noblesville, and I am so glad they have their own space now where I can come and relax with friends and family. They were the first mochi donuts I ever tried and they are still the best in the city. I also use them to cater work events, and every catering experience has been flawless. Today I brought my dad in while we charged my car over at Meijer. Its easy to walk over here from the Meijer parking lot and sure beats sitting in my car while it charges! My dad is visiting me from England and I brought him here last week for his first mochi donut, which he loved! This afternoon he fancied something savory and opted for the cheese quesadilla which he loved. It came with a choice of mild, medium or hot salsa and some sour cream. Dad had an iced latte and I opted for the latte flight. I love latte flights because it gives me the option to try multiple flavours to then order again next time. For my flight I select Taro Ube, Coconut Pandan, and Brown Butter Vanilla, all of which are delicious and I will order them again in full size. If I had to pick a favourite it would be the Coconut Pandan. If you haven't visited Mochi Joy since they moved, or haven't ever been, don't hesitate! When I went to this gem I was amazed by the great customer service. The owners Tom and Rachel were so friendly. I love how they really got this place decorated. I ordered a Hawaiian breakfast burrito ($12) and a mochi donut ($3.25 - expensive for a donut!). It took almost 20 minutes for them to make the breakfast burrito. The staff was really nice and I liked the layout of the restaurant - lots of natural light and it was very clean. Their Hawaiian breakfast burrito has Portuguese sausage, which is an alternative to a lot of breakfast burritos around here that have chorizo. The mochi donut is an alternative to a traditional donut that is a little heavier. It's time to add a little joy to the North north side (Fishers). Mochi Joy now has a full café to celebrate their delicious donuts. In addition to a full menu of flavors for their mochi donuts, they also have cookies, cake scoops, and a FULL coffee bar. The space is bright and crisp, perfect for a community gathering. It has tables and soft seating for whatever the vibe is. The donuts are all delicious, but I specifically enjoyed the Coffee flavor. However what I will be excited to go back for are the shortbread cookies, the texture is not too crumbly and not too firm and the flavors are light and not too sweet. The Cake scoop is similar to a Neapolitan style with three flavors, I don't remember which flavors, but it's pink, green, and white. The coffee program is spot on and the syrups are all homemade in-house, with fun flavors like pandan or salted caramel. They have regular milk or oat milk. There is also plenty of parking. Dare i say my favorite mochi donuts around. Visited their new storefront on opening day and like before when i visited when they were in the VFW location on national donut day, there was a line. It was an hour wait this time and the people were willing to wait. Despite how busy they were, the employees were cheerful and helpful. The owners Rachel and Tom are incredibly sweet too. The venue is clean, bright, and open. Decent amount of tables and seating available. There's a good sized parking lot. My kid was fascinated by the automated small trashcan in the restroom. I can't recall if there was a changing table or not but it's something i started to notice now after having kids and really appreciate. They did pretty well with menu signage although some items in the case were missing labels. I saw the allergy notice sign by the register and they can't guarantee cross contamination with nuts and such since they use the same equipment to make the items. Despite the warning we gave our son with the nut allergy a bite of what we thought was a taro shortbread cookie to shortly realize that it had macadamia nuts in it. While it was listed on the outdoor menu, the cookie flavor wasn't listed in the case and the workers told me they didn't think the taro flavor had the nuts in them. Our bad, kid is OK. Allergy notice taken. It seemed they were able to keep up with stock as the pandan donut was sold out but was restocked right when i got to the counter. Totally made my day since i love pandan! Besides getting the freshly made soft slightly chewy spot on flavors mochi donuts, I decided to try a shortbread cookie and the coconut pandan iced latte, which were lovely. I can't wait to try some of their new menu items. Like what is a cake scoop?! And soon to come mochibun hot dog and black sesame latte taste like? Ok. So this shop is a pop-up shop that operates out of the Noblesville VFW. There is more than ample parking available in the VFW's lot. They serve mochi style donuts like you would find in Hawaii. In addition to the donuts they have Mochi Sticky Bread, and some kind of corn bread. If you are thirsty, they have canned drinks. The woman working the counter was so very friendly and welcoming, Their selection of donuts and mochi bread that they had available were all on display on the counter. They remove them as they run out. And yes they do run out. Luckily, they only ran out of one flavor by the time I got there. Even though they operate out of the VFW, they still have seating available to sit and eat your treat. I got a six pack and a mochi bread. They were all fresh and delicious. I will admit, the mochi bread can get a bit messy. Me scarfing it down probably did not help either. All the donuts were delicious. I liked the Chunky PBJ, and Taro Unicorn and Lemon Meringue the best. I highly recommend checking out and supporting this business. This past weekend I had the pleasure of picking up a four variety pack of Mochi Joy donuts during the Pandan Party at Blue Mind. I've enjoyed seeing all the collaborations and pop-ups Mochi Joy has been participating in throughout town. As someone who lives downtown to make it all the way to Noblesville for donuts. I had a great experience at Mochi Joy! This was my second time coming in. The establishment is extremely clean with plenty of wide space, loads of natural light, and a cute design. It is a very inviting atmosphere. The service was amazing and helpful. Upon entry, we were greeted with a smile by the staff. They also provided me with useful recommendations. The store also offered samples of their shortbread cookie and their Hawaiian snack mix. Both were very tasty. The donuts were 10/10! Originally, I wanted the Elephant Ear flavor (highly recommend!), but they were sold out :(. We ended up getting 3 mochi donuts: Brown Sugar Milk Tea, Bourbon Maple Pecan, and Lavender Lemon. DELICIOUS. I am constantly amazed at how Mochi Joy masters the art of making the donuts taste EXACTLY like their descriptions! I have seen on Instagram the opening of a new mochi donuts place in Fishers called Mochi Joy Donuts. I was driving in the area and decided to stop by to see what they had available for donuts. The ambiance is very nice and elegant with white all over the place and nice decor on the walls of mochi donut logos. The bobblehead of the owners on the counter was cute and a nice touch, so had to take a picture of it. The menu is largely displayed over the counter and easy to read which I like very much. The flavor selection of mochi donuts is shown in a clear glass case on the counter, and I will say the flavors are very creative and quite impressive. I decided to get five mochi donuts to go: lavender lemon, red velvet, fruity pebbles, dark chocolate raspberry, and matcha strawberry. The woman at the counter was very nice and professional when she took my order. She demonstrated excellent customer service. She convinced me to sign up for the loyalty program which is $5 off after purchasing $100 worth of products. I tried the donuts and they were fantastic!! All of the flavors were superb and did not disappoint me at all. The fruity pebbles mochi donut was my favorite out of the five donuts. The texture of the donuts was perfect, and I could taste the flavor of each donut with elegance. This was a wonderful treat for me, and I'm so glad I stopped by Mochi Joy Donuts. If I am in the Fishers area again, I will definitely stop by here to get some donuts. It is a wonderful addition to the Fishers area and I do hope it sticks around for a long time. read more
