I go here a few times a year. I really enjoy the sesame shrimp. The staff is top notched and the ambience of the dinning area is outstanding. The dish is always fresh and hot and delicious. I think I'll try something else the next time read more

I have picked up takeout from here often and I also frequent this place for lunch and their happy hour. The atmosphere is modern and stylish with a nice bar area that lots of people mention in other reviews. The vibe feels lively but still relaxed enough for lunch or drinks with friends. They have a sleek interior and the bar is a fun spot to hang out. Their happy hour is only on Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:30 and it's worth planning around that. I've grabbed a few happy hour bites and drinks and they are always good. They do have creative cocktails and quality sushi and small plates during happy hour. I will say their non-lunch prices are on the higher end compared to other Asian fusion places around here, but they do offer a big variety of options. You can get everything from sushi and sashimi to ramen, noodles, rice bowls, and more creative fusion entrees. For what you get the variety and quality make it worth it to me. The food is always yummy whether I am grabbing lunch, takeout, or eating in. Everything I have ordered has been flavorful, fresh, and comes out fast which I love when I am grabbing lunch on a work break or picking up takeout after a long day. I've never had a slow order or a mix-up with takeout which is something I appreciate. Overall Moca Asian Bistro is one of my favorite Asian fusion spots around Hewlett. The modern vibe, great bar, big menu, and consistently tasty food keep me coming back again and again. If you like variety, good happy hour deals, and quick service this is a great choice. read more

Great service Tasty and very nice portioned food. Way over priced sushi though!! If you got Money to get rolls for 26$ to 35 dollars a rolls then come here. But nothing bad about this finally tried after all these years. I'd comeback for hot food read more

I'd rate MOCA three and a half stars. Eclectic Asian fusion that's sure to have something for everyone. Menu draws from various regions of China, Chinese-American, Sushi, American Hibachi, Thai, Indian, Malaysian, Japanese, and Western cuisines. We ordered pick up directly through their website. It was pricey, but everyone was happy with their food. Order was ready on time. Neatly packed and nothing missing. I had the roasted Peking duck which was only a "half" duck for $43. The set included steamed baos, scallions, and sauce. Duck was perfectly greasy. The skin lost its crispness from traveling, but I suspect it would have been perfect if we dined in based on the color and some of the crispy remnants. A fun entree to eat. I also shared some of the yellow Thai curry. Pretty good curry considering it was a fusion restaurant in the suburbs. A bit of a sticker shock at $27 for a veggie curry. That's more inline with a ritzy downtown Manhattan or Brooklyn restaurant. I arrived early before the order figuring I would grab a quick drink at the bar while waiting, but nobody was working at the bar. Relatively nice atmosphere. They have a wall with a nice selection of Japanese tea pots. read more

I was greeted at the door which I appreciate and seated right away. Service was great and attentive during lunch time. Food was good (I had pineapple fried rice and sushi) and my lychee Martini was strong as well. Ambiance was cool. A few people sat by the bar and another small group of 3 was nearby. I like places where I can enjoy a meal by myself and read or listen to podcasts. read more

This has been one of my favorite restaurants for Asian cuisine. The service is always top notch

The staff is always attentive and every dish I have tried is delicious; and the drinks are always strong but tasty. At my list visit I had the seafood yellow Thai curry dish and it had the right amount of spice and paired well with my Pinot Grigio. My husband and I frequent this spot at least once a month and sometimes I even come and just get a booth by myself and enjoy the calm ambiance. read more

The food is delicious! I started off with the miso soup and then shared the shrimp dumplings with the family. The service is fast and they're very tentative the minute you walk in! The ambiance is cozy, semi dark with comfortable chairs. The music is good and not too loud. A mixture of different songs. I am definitely returning! We were celebrating my sisters birthday! Oh, don't forget the desert! read more

MOCA is an Asian Fusion Bistro I call it the " New Hyped up Chinese Food " (There are several of these restaurants look on their site for updates ) it's very good and the restaurant has great ambience! You are NOT getting the old classics here lol! Some of my favorites starting with the MOCA Nut alcoholic beverage very delicious! Next for appetizers it's the Thai Crab cake for Rocky and I'll have the Beef Baby short ribs, sometimes I just have drinks and appetizers! Main courses Sangria crispy duck, an order of pineapple fried rice or Rock shrimp Tempura. These are our faves but they have an extensive selection including Sushi! Delicious desserts too ! Free On site parking, good service Enjoy! read more

Beautiful decor, expensive with so-so food and Meh service. We had mini wonton soup (the best thing we had 8/10), ribs (6/10) and pineapple fried rice (5/10). I didn't their tea it was too bland (2/10). read more

I have been to the MoCA Asian bistro in Woodbury, the whole staff is very attentive. So I was in hewlett and thought we would try the hewlett MoCA, the waiter was on his phone the whole time he was waiting on on. He never took our menus, or offer us more water, he was more concerned what was on his phone, as we where leaving the hostess we notice was on her phone as well. Get off your phones and work. This is a lovely place, but the people that work there have different priorities. read more

So this place has closed and reopened a few times. I've been coming here since I was in HS and always loved it. This is my first time back in yeeaarrsss and while the menu has changed a bit, I was happy to say that this is still a spot that I would come back to for some good eats. Food: Golden dragon roll was amazing! That mango on top is what really makes it !! The crispy chicken with sweet Thai chili sauce is always my go to!! Veryyy goood Whoever is at the bar has a heavy hand and I just wanna say thanks for the extra pour cuz we were lit off of once drink. Fried Oreos were stale. I was very disappointed because that's literally what I used to come here for! Service was meehhhh. While the owner or manager did come out and apologize for the Oreos and comp it from our bill - our waitress seemed irritable - she clearly didn't feel like being at work that night. Ambiance is chill. Come however you feel. Dress up, dress down either way youll feel comfortable. read more

Came here with family to try out the food. Good experience overall. The kids enjoyed the food. Service was also great.

Sushi was delicious! We had the volcano along with several classics: California, Boston and shrimp tempura. All were fantastic. The waitress was helpful but could have been more involved. Overall the restaurant was private with several divisions and booths but it was mostly empty at the time we were there. Overall it was pricy but we left content and satisfied. read more

Ambiance was above average, above chain restaurant but below fine dining. Hostess was in the front but walk out from the back about 2 minutes later. She immediately took another group without asking who was here first. I didn't make a stink about it but I was a little annoyed. Food was decent, and packed some flavor. Server was bland and not too engaged in her job. Upon finishing, I asked for dessert menu. I looked it over, didn't like any choices. I may have said something about wanted crème brûlée and suddenly she says "oh we have crème brûlée" but it isn't on the menu. All in all, solid place to visit on the weekday. read more

I recently met a friend for lunch after not having been here for a while and enjoyed my three-roll special. Our server was prompt with the food and we had a peaceful and relaxing meal while catching up. The rolls had a nice amount of fish in each, not found like that everywhere. I would only recommend that they refill the tea to keep it hot, but otherwise, a pleasant lunch experience and the lunch specials themselves, which include miso soup or salad, are a great value. Nice atmosphere as well. read more

I went to MoCA for first time and had dinner there with my sister. I was disappointed not to see a bento box option for dinner. Since I wanted to try a sampling of dishes I ordered 5 appetizers. The portion sizes varied with the short ribs and pork spare ribs having most to eat with duck tortilla being the smallest. Vegetable tempura was fried to perfection but lacked flavor. It needed some salt and the dipping sauce was not enough to save it. They did not have jasmine tea only green tea and I enjoyed my unsweetened iced tea. The food came in three intervals with our plates changed each time which was great. However I think they were short staffed with only one served working 10 tables so he only came when the food came and refilled my iced tea once. It was nice not to be rushed but the lag between the dishes left us eating more of the earlier dishes with little room for the last two dishes. The grilled chicken satay was dry and only the fish and beef satay tasting better. Tempura veggies you only get one of each veggie and the duck tortilla I felt the avocado and hoisin sauce overpowered the duck. The peanut sauce for the satay was runny and the best dish of the night was the beef short ribs. The pork spare ribs were tender and came off the bone nicely but the sweet and sour sauce tasted like America bbq sauce. My mom makes Chinese bbq spare ribs better than the restaurant. Ambience was nice but tables and booths are close to each other so it can get loud. It was a fun experience but I would like to try lunch next time. read more

It's very clean, and smells clean, (not sure about the bathroom didn't go in there) they have great Jazz music playing! It's a good atmosphere. Lots of parking, I had no trouble getting parking. Two of my friends left food on their plates, I and the other two didn't leave anything safe to say the food is pretty good. I had the Avocado salad I enjoyed the dressing they put on it, could have gone for more lettuce though. I also had green tea, I love that they bring you the whole tea pot and not just a cup of tea, it's so annoying to have to wait for hot water. They get a 3 star because they had a cook/chef walking through the dining room wheeling trash..... that is not comforting... I don't want to see anyone who handles my food taking out the trash while I'm eating.... They need a busser or something to handle that, not someone who is cooking the food. Also, their staff isn't super friendly, y'all know I'm big on service. Now that I went to a Korean BBQ spot that had AMAZING service they've raised the bar for other food spots. read more

Good food with good customer service. Courteous staff that was polite and patient. The restaurant is always a nice calm vibe and clean.

Their chicken dumplings are very good. The dough is nice and light and their wines are excellent

Beautiful ambiance, great service. Walked in on a Wednesday night, no reservation, restaurant was pretty empty, we were seated right away. Wait staff was very friendly & attentive. Started with lychee martinis which were perfect, not too sweet. Appetizers - spring rolls and rock shrimp tempura were both good. For entree my friend and I shared the Mongolian chicken which was the perfect size for 2. Came out on a sizzling skillet with a side of white rice. read more

The food was very tasty and it came on time. Ambiance was very nice. However, the staff was not very friendly. Faces were serious, with flat affects and because of this, the vibe was uninviting. My uncle is disabled and almost voided on himself and the lady at the front desk made him wait, even after I explained he was disabled. She even cut me off while I was speaking, instead of pointing me to the restroom. The staff did not seem very happy. Not sure if they were just having a bad day because it was my first time dining here, but not one person smiled. From the hostess to the waiter to the person who cleared the table. The person who collected the money did say thank you. The staff wasn't straight out rude, but the vibe did not give friendly. A smile and eye contact goes a long way. The dining experience is not only about the food, it's also about the service and professionalism of staff. Black people are sometimes treated by other groups with disrespect and substandard service, so feeling welcomed is very important. I recommend customer service training for the staff. Had the staff created a warm and friendly environment, I would have given this restaurant a 5. read more

This was my first time at Moca. Unfortunately it had quite a dingy feel to it. My water glass was extremely dirty. Cocktails were quite strong but definitely not the top shelf tequila I requested. Service was mediocre at best. I tried a mixed curry seafood dish as recommended by our waitress. It was just ok. Seafood did not taste fresh, I would not come back here anytime soon. THEY HAVE ROACHES! I should've stayed home but didn't feel like cooking. I'm not going to be long and drawn out. They have roaches and not waterbugs. The manager Cindy didn't really care and it seems like they know they have roaches. We were so disgusted. That fact that they make food like rice and it could Possibly have roach eggs in it, is upsetting. The dept of health should shut this place down IMMEDIATELY! read more

This was such a fine restaurant. After not being here for some months, I still find the food excellent, but the service has really gone off the rails. MoCA was one of my favorite little spots in that neighborhood until things took a turn for the worse. MoCA Forest Hills was a favorite and when they closed for renovation I began to patronize Hewlett. My first 4 visits things went well. I even developed a rapport with the staff and my daughter and I enjoyed each of our mommy daughter dates. I even brought other folks I was hanging with to the venue and they were completely blown away. Given our good track record I decided it would be the perfect venue to celebrate my mother's bday. Called weeks ahead and made the reservation because I was catering to a part of 15. The staff was super accommodating. The night of I arrived on time but one part of my party went to the wrong location. I apologized profusely and placed and order for drinks and appetizers until they arrived. Once all my party was seated we went for more apps and drinks and then dinner. Everything was sailing smoothly. We celebrate with desert. Great night, or at least so I thought. The bill is right over $400, we include 20% tip and I go to use the bathroom only to hear upon returning that the staff member who was waiting to clear the table was racist. He apparently told my guests " you're finished eating, time to go" and was mumbling under his breath. I was so hurt. I didn't want to create a scene so I spoke to the manager and asked that it be addressed. She assured me she'd handle it and call me back. Days went by and I hadn't heard from her. I called back and heard that the store manager wanted to speak to me. Until this day, months later MoCA never addressed the situation and I refuse to spend my money there anymore. Such a pity because I really liked the venue. read more
