It's a cool spot with great music, and the staff is attentive. They recently made some changes that I personally don't think they should've made. They used to have a big menu with really good food, but now they seem to be gearing more toward a lounge vibe. I think they should keep the restaurant atmosphere earlier in the night and transition into more of a lounge around 11 PM. I definitely miss the fried rice. Now the menu is mostly bar food like wings, sliders, and similar items. Don't get me wrong the sliders were banging, but I really want the full menu back. Honestly, I feel like they already had the same good vibe before, even with the larger menu, so now it feels like the same atmosphere but with fewer food options. They do have hookah, which is a plus for me, and the prices are reasonable. So if you're looking for a nice chill spot with good music, drinks, and hookah, this is definitely a good place to check out. I made a reservation on December 4th, 2025 for three for a birthday celebration on December 7th, 2025 at 6:30 PM for my mother's aide. Since this is literally the only Guyanese restaurant we could find on Long Island--and we drove 35 minutes from Suffolk--we expected a special evening. The reviews online and on TikTok made it seem worth the trip. When I made the reservation, I spoke with who I assume was the owner or manager and specifically explained that we were bringing an 84-year-old and were concerned about loud music, being that the restaurant had photos of it being a "dance club atmosphere". I was hesitant to make the reservation, but when I was called, and spoke to either the owner or a manager, I was assured the music would be kept at "dinner volume" and wouldn't be an issue, and that it only gets loud after 9:30 PM. I said, " are you sure?"...I was told yes, I was even told they would bring out a slice of cake with sparklers--easy, no problem. So we arrive at 6:30, and the second we walk in, the music is BLASTING--completely inappropriate for a dinner service at that hour and absolutely impossible for an elderly person to tolerate. Even I found it painfully loud, and I'm in my early 40s. I couldn't even hear myself speak to the hostess. I had to significantly raise my voice just so she could hear me speak. We asked the hostess if the volume could be lowered, and she said she'd have to get the manager. The manager comes over, and after I explained exactly what I had been told when booking, he couldn't have cared less. No attempt to fix the issue, no solution, just total indifference with a "Yeah...sorry". Because of that, we had to turn around and drag a feeble 84-year-old with a rollator back out to walk two blocks in the cold to and scramble to find another restaurant last-minute. Completely unacceptable and embarrassing. I wanted to eat here. I would have happily come back, supported the business, even ordered takeout when passing through Baldwin in the future. But after being misled and treated like our concerns didn't matter, I'd rather drive into Queens for Guyanese food than deal with mess that again. Do better. read more

Had the wings, crab rangoon, lamb fried rice and the duck Lo mein, wouldn't order the wings or the Rangoon again. The wings tasted mushy because of the thick batter they fried it in and the amount of sauce they put on them. The rangoon was okay but nothing special. I have been passing this place for months and I finally got a chance to go for an early dinner on Saturday evening. The place has a very nice ambience and is dimly lit. The music is vibing and the staff was extremely friendly and all seemed to be in great spirits. I sat at the bar and ordered food a drinks with my friend. We had the jerk chicken and brocolli with fried rice- very tasty!! I ordered two margaritas, one strawberry flavored and one regular, both were good! This is a great spot and I look forward to going back and trying other things. I also ordered food for take-out, which was a shrimp pasta dish and jerked wings. As for the food, it was very good. I ordered the fried plantain for appetizer and it was one of the best I've had. I had the jerk chicken fried rice and it was outstanding. The chicken was juicy and had just the right amount of spice. The rice was quite good as well. Huge portions of everything so you get your money's worth. Just when I thought they couldn't get worse because they have so much potential, they in fact got worse. I went there today with my bf and literally not one person was in there. The food wasn't the same. They were also missing a lot of items. No shandy, no Carib, no cream soda, no PEPPER SAUCE. What do you mean you ran out of pepper sauce? The food also is not as good as it used to be. They may have changed chefs but it is no longer tasty. On top of it not just being us in the establishment, I had to get up twice to get a waitress while I was eating. You could have one person or 50 in this place, their service is just terrible. On top of that, they charge 18% gratuity automatically. Imagine your service sucks consistently and you still force people to tip. I've pretty much had it with them. While the appetizer arrived promptly, the drinks were significantly delayed and did not arrive until after the appetizer had already been finished. The soda was noticeably watered down. The rasta pasta was very good, while the shrimp wontons were just acceptable. Once the food was delivered, the server did not check back in, no one came to the table for over forty-five minutes. Although it was Halloween night and the restaurant was busy, the lack of attentiveness was disappointing. When the server finally arrived, we waited another thirty minutes just to get the check. My second visit, the experience did not improve. The restaurant had run out of soda and only offered cranberry ginger ale, which the server explained was due to a party the night before. This was frustrating, especially since the restaurant was empty and no alternative accommodations were offered. The jerk chicken pasta was average, with an excessive amount of jerk sauce on the chicken. I did not enjoy the food. The lamb and duck were undercooked, which was concerning. I visited this establishment a couple of weeks with my siblings for us to hang out and catch up. I started with the Ginger Sidecar drink which has Hennessy in it. It was very good and had the right amount of liquor in it. For appetizers we shared French Fries and Fried Shark. The fries were well seasoned and delicious. The shark was not good. It lacked seasoning and it tasted like it wasn't cleaned properly. For my entree I ordered the House Special Chow Mein. The serving was huge but the food was okay. It wasn't the best Guyanese Chinese cuisine I've had. The server was very nice and attentive. They played nice music which kept you entertained. However they need to work on the food. It was mediocre and that takes away from the experience. If I return to this restaurant I would probably just sit at the bar for a drink and have some fries. The food was not the best. The buffalo wontons were 10/10 Mozzarella sticks 8/10 (classic mozzarella sticks, fried perfectly.) Salmon island pasta 7/10 (a little greasy) Palm island iced tea 10/10 (strong af, good flavor) Music was great reggae/dancehall. Lively but still conversation volume. The entrees we ordered were jerk chicken and broccoli and the Island pasta with jerk chicken. My partner loved her jerk chicken pasta. The younger kid DJ was playing really good music from the past - current. When the DJ switched, the vibes sorta took a while to get back to especially the Soca, Reggae, and Chutney vibe, but the crowd was still dancing which is great. Drinks were really good and great tasting. They had a drink that was really nice with the fire on it. The hookah was good too and the service for the bar. Plantain chips, shrimp wontons, and cha chi kai chicken...for the cha chi kai chicken, please ask for the sauce at the side. My cousin ordered his regular style and OMG it was pepper sauce galore..he couldn't eat it. The fried rice is more a 5 spice fried rice, instead of the brown soy sauce Guyanese Chinese fried rice. Same with the chow mein, it's a yellow home style flavor..not the brown soy sauced Chowmein. The island pasta and jerk lamb was decent too. Along with the main entres, 4 stars - because when the Chowmein, pasta, fried rice etc. came, no serving spoons were provided to dig in, which is a standard in restaurants, and we had to ask for each dish, when we indicated we are ordering for the table, and not one person. In addition, they didn't have enough menus oddly so we all had to share 3 menus, but the restaurant wasn't packed to capacity for menus to be shorted. Also, my drink originally had a straw and when I got a refill they forgot the straw and I had to ask and the waitress brought it with her bare hands touching the naked straws.... usually at restaurants they serve the straws covered with a wrapper or in a napkin for sanitary purposes. One of the worst experience ever. We were a party of 10. They welcomed us in a warm way. They took our drink order. They brought out one drink at a time. We had to keep asking for the drink and they kept saying it's being made. We look over at the bar and no one was making a drink. It took over an hour for half the drinks to come out. We were done woth the food and all the drinks haven't come out. Not once did the manager or anyone come and apologize for the lack of service. None of the servers cared to explain anything because gratuity was already included on the bill so no one cared if you're happy with the service. This place is a NO for me. As a Guyanese, I know our fried rice and our Guyanese Chinese fried rice, this was neither, the rice was a salty mushy situation. It was a large portion of blah. The duck I had with it was extremely tough and hard to eat. I will say the lamb chops are actually cooked exceptionally well. The menu is really tiny, I needed a bit more options and some items that are on the menu and heavily featured on their socials were not available (lobster & dessert). My cocktail was disgusting, I also didn't bother telling the waitress/host/bartender, I felt she had enough to work with. The serving plates are large, actual family style sizes. I think the place needs some uplifting, the tablecloths may not be it or the floral plates for appetizers, just gives the feel of being in an elderly persons home. On the weekends at night, the music is louder and the small bar is often packed, but usually there are other tables. The service is very nice and they will make it up to you if something goes wrong! I placed an order and went down to pick it up about 20 minutes later . I walked in and the music was nice and ambiance felt good . I sat at the bar and told the staff I was there to pickup an order. There was 1 girl working the bar and taking tending to the tables . There were only 3 tables that needed waiting in addition to her making drinks . She seemed to know what she was doing but constantly had to be reminded by the customers to check on their food and that they wanted to order more drinks . Unfortunately after waiting almost a hour I left without ever receiving my food. So this reviews is based solely on the customer service point . I couldn't tell you about the food . After seeing various videos of ppl raving about this place on tik tok my husband and I decided we would try it out for date night. BIG MISTAKE! We arrived at about 8:20PM on a Saturday night and were told the wait would be an hour. Against our better judgement we decided to stay and wait. Once seated at 9:20 we were told that the kitchen is backed up and the wait time for food would be 30 mins which we were okay with. We quickly ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees. Drinks came pretty quick but were not flavorful at all. My husband ordered the palm island and it was literally just a cup full of flavored syrup. He could not even stomach it. First appetizer which was the shrimp wontons came out at about 10:20pm and let me make clear that they were not worth the wait. There was nothing special about them, just no flavor or spice. I had to ask the waitress for pepper sauce just to eat them. I will give credit when it's due and say that their pepper sauce is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Bottle that up and sell it because that was really the star of the night. My husband ordered the jerk chicken wings for an appetizer and he liked them. They came out at about 10:40pm nice, hot crispy and well seasoned. So now it's 11pm and we had been sitting there for an hr and half and only had appetizers and drinks. Our waitress kept coming back to the table to ask if we needed anything and apologized for the wait. Other waitresses as well realized we were sitting there too long without food and would come over the table and bring shots and offer us drinks on the house which we declined. At about 11:40PM my husband and I started to get irritated as we were seeing customers who had arrived after us being served food and even some finishing up their meals while we were yet to begin. Minutes to 12AM a different waitress came to the table and asked if we had ordered entrees which we told her we did. She asked who our waitress was and went to find her. She came back a few minutes later asking what we had ordered and then left again, came back again to confirm the selections and then left again. By this time my husband and I were super annoyed because what is really going on. She comes back to the table and apologized and said the food will be right out and offered us shots and drinks on the house which we declined again. By 12:20AM we had had it and were looking for any waitress to just ask for the bill so we could leave. 12:30AM a different waitress comes over to the table finally with our food in hand. My husband ordered the fried rice and chicken and I ordered the jerk lamb chops and palm island pasta. After this 3 hr disaster of an experience, the food came out and while my husband's was hot, my pasta and lamb chops were COLD! I had it at that point and approached the nice waitress (who wasn't actually ours) who checked on the food and asked for boxes and the check. She could see I was visibly angry and tried her best to turn the situation around but it was already too late for me. She did however discount the bill and offer us drinks and shots on the house but again it was a no for us. We wrapped up the food and left. As a West Indian woman I want nothing more than to support my ppl but this experience was not it! I truly believe our initial waitress forgot to put the entree orders in from the very beginning. I say all this to say if you have 4-5 hrs to waste go there and try your luck but I will NEVER RETURN. I wish I could have left a review rating ALL of the food we ordered, but if I'm basing this off the 2 appetizers we did receive, I would/will not go back. While the pepper sauce and jerk chicken wings were good, that was not enough for us to be waiting 4 hrs for as you could get that from anywhere. I want to say I went to this restaurant with my family and I would like to say the food was delicious. We had the cha-cha chicken ,fried plantains ,chicken fried rice and of course the lamb Island pasta. The lamb was so soft and tender. This dish was so delicious It was worth the $50 for a huge portion. The fried rice was authentic. It had a bit of a ginger flavor which I really didn't care for .I was looking for more of a Guyanese Chinese comparing it to restaurants in Queens like legends and Kaieteur. The reason I gave four stars not being picky. It wasn't because of the taste of the food it was because for one the bathroom had no paper towel to wipe my hands the glass door was smudged with fingerprints, and when my table was served, their food was served one at a time, not together that everybody could eat, but then again we went during the weekday in the afternoon. My sister and I had peppered shrimp and shrimp wontons as appetizers, and we had peppered lamb fried rice and veggie as entrees, and it was very good and flavorful. The customer service was amazing.
