Tres amigos appetizer

Great ambiance. Perfect for a celebration or a family night out. Food was yummy. Service was stellar. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable. The portions are generous. Good cocktail menu. I recommend Mesita for a lunch, brunch, or dinner. You will have an enjoyable experience.

Brunch with the family

Ambiance was inviting and lovely. We went during brunch so didn't need reservations but made one anyway as we were a party of 5 just in case. There's a small parking lot but is shared by the other businesses and usually filled. Parking was a struggle even on a Sunday where you dont pay the meters. Service was courteous and quick; he was friendly and helpful and easily reachable. Note- they take foodie card but only for parties of 3 or less. They do also have a rewards system when you input your phone number during check out. They provide free refills on soft drinks. We reserved a Brunch party service for over 20 people here and it went very smoothly. The food was good and served in good time. The servers were attentive as well. My only complaint is that all the drinks were made poorly-- literal sugar water that hurt my stomach. We had pitchers of White Sangria, Red Sangria, Passionfruit and Bellinis. Otherwise I'd only go back for the fajitas.

Fish tacos.... 4/5

Legit my favorite fish taco. I've been coming here for years and literally getting the same thing every time haha. They have great Tuesday specials; whether you get a quesadilla or a taco; it's typically bussin and the prices are good. This time in particular my Taco was a 4/5. They gave me A LOT more fish than usual but its flavor lacked a little bit and I needed a touch more sauce but overall still pretty good. They also give you free chips and salsa and keep refilling them so that's a plus. Drinks are pretty eh but def go for the tacos. Cool ambiance. Nice decor and a great place to catch up with coworkers, friends or even a mini date. Service is typically pretty good as well. Gave us a table on Tuesday even though he didn't make a reservation

Fall brunch menu

Visiting Rockville Center, I remembered that Mesita was near, so me and my plus one decided to stop in. We made reservation because it's a must and found parking on the corner by the restaurant. We stepped in to find a fall festive theme. Autumn decor set the tone here with much of what you would expect from October. I find some consistency in service, the staff performed as a cohesive unit, not neglecting the customer. That's a plus! Also as our waitress was May C. She was very attentive, keeping a watchful eye on us at all times. I'm thinking that observation is a prerequisite skill at Mesita. I'm kind of hesitant on this review because we came for brunch. Not realizing that they served brunch. Also the kitchen was closing, which I feel has a cause and effect on the quality of food and this review. With that being said, I ordered a breakfast burrito. I should have stuck with my desire to have an enchilada. I was discouraged because I've never had a breakfast enchilada. So the breakfast burrito was huge and filling but it was served lower than room temperature which effected my mood. My plus one had steak and eggs. She says that it was nothing to write home about. They don't have steak sauce nor do they have black pepper. We did enjoy the Mimosa and everyone received a complimentary Leches shot. The restaurant was not filled to capacity and I noticed that there were 2 private dining rooms, one empty and the other smack filled. I did meet Marty the manager who was very kind and accommodating. I would like to visiting this location at night to see if it's bustling like the Garden City NY location.

Mesita in RVC just set the bar way higher for what great service and great food should be. Hands down the best service I've had in a long time. On top of that, their Restaurant Week deal was unbelievable -- you get 1 appetizer, 1 main course, and 1 dessert for such a low price. I genuinely hope they bring this special back because it was such an amazing value. The food was beyond delicious from start to finish. Every dish was full of flavor and super fresh. My girlfriend and I have been coming here for a while, but after today's experience, Mesita officially became my new favorite restaurant. Between the incredible service, the vibe, and the quality of the food, it's a guaranteed 5 stars. We'll definitely be back!

Fajitas!

If you like Mexican food and cute decor this is your place! Walls lined with skulls and Mexican artist paintings, looking almost like a small Pueblo, this restaurant gives you the vibes you're looking for on a Margarita Monday, or even a Taco Tuesday! The prices are a bit higher, $18 for a classic margarita, and $20 for guacamole, but the food is tasty! The maduros (sweet plantains) come out covered in a sweet cinnamon sugar, and the shrimp ceviche was light and refreshing. The fajitas come out on these giant planchas with all the fixings, would've like more than 3 small tortillas, but there were plenty of toppings. They have vegetarian options, including burritos, tacos and fajitas. Our server was so nice, but a little hard to find most of the time when we needed some napkins or our check. I recommend a Sunday or weeknight, as Friday and Saturday can be a bit busy.

Monterey Chicken

Went to Mesita last weekend for dinner. The place is huge, with a dark, dimly lit atmosphere and loud music--definitely not ideal for having a conversation, so be prepared for more vibes than talk. That said, the bathrooms were clean and the service was decent. Now, the food? Absolutely spectacular. The steak fajitas and Monterey chicken were phenomenal--flavorful, perfectly cooked, and very satisfying. We ended the night with the banana locos for dessert, and it did not disappoint. So good! My only complaint (and it's a big one for me) is the cocktails. I love a good drink when I go out, and unfortunately, Mesita missed the mark. My margarita was overloaded with sweet & sour mix and barely had any alcohol. For $20, it tasted more like a sugar bomb than a proper cocktail. Definitely not worth the price. Because of that, I'm taking off one star--I'm all about my drinky drinks, and if the cocktails aren't hitting, I usually don't return. 4 stars for food and ambiance .

Shrimp Ceviche

The ambiance was super cute when first walking in. We had made a reservation and I'm glad we did because it filled up fairly quickly! My friend had a drink at the bar while waiting and enjoyed her beverage. All the alcoholic beverages looked fantastic. The staff were very good about taking orders quickly and even the food came out in quick timing. I noticed the staff going around with a cart making fresh guac which I absolutely loved. I ordered a quesadilla from the appetizer menu which filled me up. If you're not looking for a full meal & not break your bank the appetizers are very good and will go the mile! There were a few little things like refills on water and not getting sliced lemons for them, but all in all the food was great!

Taco Combo
Rachel A.

I came here with my friend for Cinco de Mayo. It was PACKED. They had a DJ which was nice. Upon arrival we got chips and salsa on the house. We placed our order with Carlos. We got the mild guac with chips, queso with chips, street corn and the choose your own 3 tacos. We picked 2 Barria Tacos, and 1 steak taco. The chips and queso had home made chips that were fried, however the queso tasted like velveta or the cheese you get at the movies. The guac on the other hand was delicious!! The street corn had a nice smoky flavor. Oddly enough they did not bring us extra chips for the guac; only upon request. Service was very slow but it was because of the holiday so it was extremely understandable. Overall good food, good atmosphere and a nice place to come for a girls night, with friends or family.

Table setting

We stopped in for brunch at Mesita! I got the steak & eggs, the steak was nicely seasoned, cooked close to how I ordered it, and paired well with the eggs (my eggs was soft) not the way I like them. And crispy home fries, was pleasantly tasty. Solid, satisfying brunch plate. Also had a glass of mimosa, fresh, bubbly, and just the right kick for a slow and quiet Sunday. Service was friendly, the service was not quick I think because they were about to close for bunch, and the vibe was laid-back, which I liked. But if you're looking for a no-fuss, hearty meal with a little brunch sparkle, this hits the mark. Would come back again, maybe I will try the pancakes next time!

Tableside Guacamole

Hours later I am still so full! Huge portions, delicious food, and a fun birthday sparkler! I have eaten at Mesita but many years ago. Glad to see it holds up! Thank you for a great brunch! The table side guac was a HIT!

Shrimp Fajita
Sabrina T.

I'll start by saying the ambiance here is nice. The staff is also very friendly and attentive. However, I'm always disappointed with my drink. The presentation is nice but it's not mixed well. Ive tried here more than once hoping for a better experience but it's just not great. I'd rate it 7/10. I would come here for apps over entrees.

When we pulled up and parked right out front, I waited in the car for about 10mins while my husband stood outside of my door and smoked. My husband noticed during that time that several people had walked in and then walked right back out. I was looking forward to listening to some R&B music, so we finally headed inside but was stopped at the door by the bouncer who said there was a cover charge of $20 for men and $10 for women. I said, "For a neighborhood bar? It's not even 12 yet..." To be honest, it felt a bit sketchy because it seemed like the bouncer was uncomfortable even telling us that there was a cover charge - and a pretty high one (for LI) at that. Now we understood why so many people walked in and then left seconds later. It's too bad though because it sounded like the music would've been just what we wanted, and this was our first night out without our kids in forever so we were prepared to stay out late and drink all night. I just don't like feeling like I'm being taken advantage of. We simply walked down the block to Dunn's River and paid a $5 cover (which is more realistic for this area) - and the music and vibe were totally worth it. I guess The New Vibe didn't want our business....or the 6 others that went in and walked right back out before us.

It's located right across from a train station, and there are a lot of restaurants, stores, etc. in walking distance. Staff were also nothing but kind and courteous. Though renovated in recent years, this is an older motel (all rooms accessible only from outside), which makes the nightly rate seem like a reach. However, factor in free breakfast, free parking, and the aforementioned location, and it becomes more palatable. Our room was clean, and, thankfully, everything worked as intended. Between random sirens and people walking around outside all the time, it wasn't exactly a quiet stay, but that was to be expected. Be forewarned that the beds here run firm, which may make sleeping difficult if you're used to a softer mattress. Overall, Best Western Mill River Manor served our needs. "We apologize for any inconvenience and want to make you aware we are awaiting some repairs to our pool and are unsure what date it will be open this year." I hate that my family and I were thrown off by the pool photos and site description, but at least this statement was all the way down below. For the price, it definitely feels like my check-in experience wasn't fully worth it. Thankfully there were no other major issues with my stay. Check-in staff was friendly and efficient. The housekeeping staff did well in cleaning my room daily. Breakfast offered was warm and freshly delicious, and was a delightful way to start a busy day. Parking is free and was convenient enough to always find a spot. Lots of ways to go upstairs to get to my room quickly. AC worked perfectly, water temp was great (just low water pressure), and wifi was easy to connect to. Couple other minor issues: On the last day, one of the 2 beds made us all feel itchy unfortunately and hopefully they weren't bed bugs. When I closed the bathroom door my first night, for some reason it locked from the outside and so we couldnt use the restroom. Thankfully front desk was quick to answer despite it being late and a security staff came very quick to open it for us!! I think a 3-star stay perfectly described my experience as it could have been better and it could have been worse.

The location is quite convenient and easy to find as it is on a corner of a major highway/intersection. They had pre prepped omelet things that made it easy to make a fast food style breakfast sandwich. There was bacon, sausage patties (a bit bland), cereal, a pancake maker (was on the fritz), and a fridge with yogurt. So grabbing a good ole chobani on the go was a plus imo.
