RVC area has so many fun spots for socializing and eating! Came into catch 13 late on a Saturday in the winter and it seemed like a great local hangout spot with big TVs and attentive staff. It was not packed and we received our sweet potato fries and drinks promptly. I also had a the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream and it was pretty good all things considered. Joey truly made my visit. Her service was exceptional, warm, attentive, and on point the entire time. You can tell she really cares about the guest experience. Big parking lot in the back after 6 p.m. you don't have to put money in the meters. Once you walk in, you're seated right away. The staff is nice. The waitress brings water to your table, you dont have to ask, then takes your order . There's not a long wait for your food to be served. I ordered the catch sampler 6 buffalo wings, fried Calamari, and two chicken empanadas. For drinks, I ordered the margarita flight 2 classic, 1 coconut & 1 passion fruit margarita. Was taken here on a lunch date Wednesday at noon. When we arrived, they hadn't opened the doors yet and were still mopping and getting ready. Once they opened the doors and we went in, we were greeted by our server/bartender Richie Rich! It seems like someone called out/was late or they're short staffed because he was doing everything! We were the first guests there but a few other tables came in after us and he was also their server. Despite him having to do EVERYTHING, Richie Rich's service was top tier! He was still very attentive, pleasant, and friendly. He was also knowledgeable about the menu items and made a few suggestions that we fully enjoyed. Our food and drinks came out quickly. Drinks: I started with the margarita flight $29 and she had the Pinot Grigio $7 on happy hour. You get to pick 4 flavors for the flight. I chose passion fruit , pomegranate, mango, and strawberry- they were all good and preferred in that list order. She stuck with the wine and I switched to the smoky rosemary pineapple margarita $17. This was so good I had 3 more. We also had some green tea shots on the house- thanks Rich! Food: we started with the crab cakes $19, spicy honey garlic wings $15, and mussels $18. We ended up sending back the mussels because they didn't smell right and got the baked clams $14 instead. The wings were the winner here! They were soo juicy inside with a nice crunch outside and the flavors blended perfectly. The baked clams and the crab cakes were really good too. For our entrees we had the 2 items Richie Rich said were his favorites and we were not disappointed. I had the grilled tomahawk pork chop with asparagus and mashed potatoes (instead of the roasted potatoes) $36 and she had the crab stuffed shrimp with roasted potatoes and steamed spinach $35. The pork chop was nice and thick and cooked to perfection. It was seasoned well with a citrus herb marinade and topped with a garlic Parmesan cream sauce that was just so yummy! I had to ask for some extra to go for the rest of my chop. The crabmeat shrimp was really good as well. Honestly, funky mussels aside, the entire experience was amazing! They have some daily specials as well like 20% off on Tuesdays for first responders (will be back for this lol), ladies night with 1/2 off drinks on Thursdays, and a few others. Needed a quick bite to eat so dropped in for something quick and light. Not quick light and bland but that's what we got. This was the most disappointing bira tacos I have ever ate. From the color to the taste it was lacking. The consommé tasted more like hospital beef broth. The bar was not set high. I was so disappointed because from the reviews it seemed like this place would be awesome. The crab cakes were overly fishy smelling and tasting but they were atleast better than the bira. Happy to try a newer location in RVC for dinner. Their layout and vibe very cocktail bar forward with small dinning area towards back. It's open and bright, offering full beer and cocktail menu along with diverse double sided menu with appetizers, salads, designer burgers and sandwiches, specialty tacos, pasta, chicken and fish entrées, sides and desserts of various kinds. So basically, it's has a little something for just about anyone. Opted for Strawberry Basil Gin Refresher, which I thought was on point with a pretty balanced blend of ingredients. My Mr. opted for a Purple Rain - Vodka based drink and found it to be super sweet. From what I tasted I can say it reminded me of a blue summer icy pop. Food wise I went with the Shrimp Oreganata that come over a linguine white creamy parmesan sauce. The flavors that stood out were definitely the bacon spice infused crumbed stuffing atop the shrimp and the parmesan cheese. ;) All in all a very well made and presented dish. My Mr. opted for the Lemon Chicken Breast entrée and stated a bit dry, not juicy and flour dredge coating a bit too thin. Thinking maybe additional white wine butter sauce maybe could have helped. Came here for brunch on a Sunday and we got a table pretty quickly around 2pm and the ambience is nice and good for being able to talk. However I'd say this is def not good Mexican food :( I got a salmon rice bowl and everything just tasted and looked old. Like the lettuce was graying, the avocado was a sickly pale green and just kind of mushed at the bottom of the salmon slab they placed on top. And the rice was clumpy and unseasoned. The salmon itself was ok but just bland. Maybe bc it's Sunday they're just using up old ingredients-- but I'm not gonna lie, chipotle has way better rice bowls! I am so happy I found this place online! I tend to be a food snob and prefer to try restaurants with higher ratings. When I saw Catch 13 had over 4.5 stars, I knew I had to try it with my boyfriend. We went on yesterday on a Saturday night, so we definitely expected it to be crowded, which it was. However, despite that, we had our food and drinks and finished them within an hour. My boyfriend had the old-fashioned drink, fish tacos, and burnt broccoli that he raved about. I had a delicious passion-fruit belini and filling nachos and platanos maduro. My favorite part of our experience was the manager Richy Rich and the host Cory. Both were very attentive and constantly checked in on us to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and our food. The chicken burrito, it's a large portion, comes with sour cream on top which makes it messy so ask for that on the side if you're trying to hold it but very good burrito and the quesadilla which was also a large portion, really tasty! This will be one of my favorite places to go to. I've lived in New York all of my life and I've eaten all over. Mexican food is my absolute favorite so it's safe to say I've eaten Mexican from everywhere. Catch 13 has been the best Mexican food I've eaten. When trying out a New Mexican restaurant my go to is always nachos. If you can't even make good nachos then I can't trust anything else on the menu. Catch 13 has the best nachos hands down. My 13 year old son is the pickiest eater on the planet. He raved about his food as he was eating and even ate off the rest of our plates. The staff were very nice. Our waitress even gave me a special treat for my birthday. The owner came around and checked on us to make sure everything was good. I appreciate that kind of attention to your customers.
