I saw them at the street fair with my girlfriend (I've been in the past in Williston Park and Freeport) I always thought pricey but good. To my surprise, I ordered two empanadas and two tacos, took some photos and videos to promote! But then the manager tells me I can't eat because they only take cash. NOT a single other place in this fair is just taking cash. PUT UP A SIGN. I didn't have any on me so I just had to return our food. Food was just average and drinks were bland and diluted. Waitress was average but positive for the most part , The stunning part was at the end . We as a country have always been known for great hospitality. Why? Because tips matter. But that model is being eroded. I'm seeing standard service charges creeping up everywhere - especially restaurants. Whether that's good or bad depends on who you ask. The issue isn't that service charge exists.It's how it's being implemented Service charges are not always obvious. They're: - Buried as a normal line item - Not clearly highlighted - Easy to miss if you're scanning a receipt Then comes the trap. First receipt showed an auto 20% tip I got caught at this place . Paid 20% gratuities and then added a 20% tip on top. That's not hospitality. I'm not for venues quietly double-dipping because they know people tip on autopilot. If you're going to add service charge - fine. But be explicit. Be transparent. At least some venues have staff proactively say, "Service is already included " Wow, if they are expecting to trick people with a 40+% tip then it's a real shame. We came here as a family on Valentine's Day. The server gave my 5 year old a tall wine glass instead of a kids cup. She accidentally knocked it over and the glass shattered and the drink spilled everywhere. We asked for the food to go since we were all soaked. We sat there for 30 minutes waiting for the food and not one server came and cleaned the glass, ice, or drink from the table! We weren't even offered a towel! We then had to ask for the drink (that they charged us for) to be put in a to go cup to take with us. Very disappointed with the service! read more

It's all good. We come here often enough. Cinco de Mayo every year here. Same waitress each time, too. Never disappointed.

The place was cute inside; very tiny place with paintings hanging on the wall. The server was really sweet and took her time to answer questions and recommend drinks. The strawberry margarita was really good. The Buffalo chicken was a little soggy and they only gave one flat, the rest was drums. The empanadas only came with beef filling but was topped with chicken and shrimp. They do give complimentary chips and salsa. read more

The ambiance was really nice. Came here for lunch time with 2 of my coworkers. We were in the mood for some good mex food but I must say I was disappointed I'm the food. It had NO flavor. I'm surprised because Mexican food alwayssss has flavor. I should of asked who was the chef cause usually makes a difference. I had chicken tacos from the lunch menu but no taste whatsoever. The server put a 20 percent tip on my daughter's bill and never told her. My daughter and several friends then tipped her 25 percent on top of that. Mistakes happen, but the server was not a kid. I'm a server, and experienced servers point the added tip out to a customer. I called the manager in Williston Park and he simply didn't care. Said there was no proof and he had no way of giving their money back. My restaurant would have questioned the server and pulled the bill from the records. This manager did nothing and was rude. I called the owner and was told he'd call me back. He did, and I missed the call. After that I tried get ahold of him to no avail. He honestly could have tried again to get me, but didn't. We would never go there again. One server caused it. One manager made it worse. One owner didn't care enough. They lost all the girls and their families as customers. They lost all who have been warned. It's a shame. I hope the $100 really changed her life. She taught 6 nineteen year olds how not to be in their future. Saw this place on a whim and decided to try it out. The website stated that they don't accept reservations between 5-9 on Friday's and Saturday's but I tried anyway to be on the safe side. I was able to reserve a table at 8:30pm on Open Table and they honored it when we arrived so I'm not sure what to say about that. You get chips and salsa at the table when you sit down and I'm big on pico de gallo so I asked for a side of that for the chips. Both the salsa and pico were good. They have really good sangrias by the glass, in half pitchers, and whole pitchers. I ordered the passion fruit blanca and it was delicious and gave me a nice lil buzz. I love a good sangria!!!! They have a very extensive menu with all your favorite Mexican dishes. I ordered the salmon fajita and it didn't disappoint at all. I'm not sure what my friend ordered but she enjoyed her meal and soup as well. Although we sat in the dining room in the front, I love the vibrant decor of the dining room in the back. The service was good, but the music was loud! I was catching up with a friend and we were basically yelling our whole conversation. The food and the sangria is worth another visit, though. They have several locations so you may find one closer to you. I just happened to physically see this one, so I chose to dine here. read more

Took me a long time to finally try out this place but I am sure glad I did with my family. My wife is a sucker for 2 simple things - margaritas and mexican food. The drinks were good and I loved that when you sat down, you wereimmediately greeted with chips and salsa. The food itself was pretty decent as well, We ordered the vegetarian enchiladas, Quesadilla and Vegetarian pick 3 from the menu. I felt the quality was ok for the price and service was bit delayed for a Thursday evening. The dessert aswell wasn't worth the price. This review is long over due from summer..I cant believe I live so close to this restaurant and did not come here before! Since i first came across it in July i've come on three separate occasions with different sets of people and not a single person has left disappointed. Parking is sometimes a tough situation where you cant find a spot for blocks because of the street parking signs. Every time i have come here was around dinner time(6-7pm ish) and have had no trouble being seated. My favorite is the number 10 which is the burrito mojado, its DIVINE. All of my favorite ingredients wrapped up into one perfect meal. Soft tortilla stuffed with grilled steak, oaxaca cheese, sour cream, guacamole and topped with veracruzana sauce with a side of refried beans topped with cheese and rice. Mouth watering. I wish their drinks were a little better because they taste mostly like sugar water but if they put some more effort into that, it'd definitely pair much better with the food. Also during happy hour, even for extra charge they don't let you change to a frozen option or flavored marg which did not make sense to me because most places will just charge $1 or $2 for any changes. After reading the reviews of this place and having expectations, I was let down and I'm not a fan. I live not too far from margaritas and drive by very often always wanting to try the place out. My dad suggested going to brunch one Sunday and I was pumped to try it out. The ambiance and decor is very trendy. However, our table had so many flies constantly hovering over our table and nachos once we arrived. The one thing I enjoyed about my experience were the drinks. I got a strawberry mojito which was great. However, my meal was another story. I ordered the fish tacos and was pleasantly surprised by the initial platter. But once I picked up one taco, it all fell apart. It was impossible to eat. I told our water and she brought out more tortillas that did the exact same thing. I was unimpressed by the lack of quality of the meal and certainly the price comparison to the quality. It is a cute addition to town. However, I recommend eating before coming here. Possibly just coming here for happy hour rather than dining. read more

We came here for Tuesday Margarita special day! They have some tables outside. Masks required to go into use the bathroom. Servers wear masks. They made guacamole fresh at the tableside! We got a few appetizers to share. My friends ate the wings almost before the plate hit the table! The nachos were basic refried beans, salsa, and a dollop of sour cream and avocado. Don't worry, because if you actually come to Margaritas Cafe on Hillside Ave, the only Español you'll need is in ordering your meal. But seriously, Margaritas is a quality spot. It took over The Ivy Cottage which wasn't a large restaurant by any means, and in turn, Margaritas packs in as much as they possibly can. That sardined feeling only grows with the guac truck (fresh guac? Count me in!) and mariachi band (live music) strolling about. Despite the spatial issues, the place does have a contemporarily festive flare which adds to the almost-fiesta mentality. Unfortunately, popularity and a busy town makes for long waits on the weekends. Even for a party of two on a Friday night there was at least a half hour wait time being quoted. Mi amigo and I waited about this long (maybe more) and were lucky to get ourselves a spot (albeit a tight squeeze around others). Once settled, our relatively quiet, but friendly waitress helped guide us to a couple of drinks. What drinks? Margaritas (I mean, ya gotta)! They boast a ton of different flavors so you're bound to find something you'll like (I kept it simple). There's also complimentary chips and salsa on the table, and that aforementioned table side guac which we optioned for (though there wasn't a lot made for the price). For dinner, the menu holds plenty of Mexican favorites along with one great deal: a make your own combo for $15. It's a little hidden (I wonder why), but scour those pages and you'll come across that Mexican gold (so to speak). My combo consisted of a taco, flauta, and tamale. You'll also get some greens and rice on your plate to round things out. The taco was tasty and the flauta (like a taquito, only better) had a nice crunch with good, meaty filling. The champ was the tamale. If you've never had this corn husk-filled selection you gotta give it a try (especially here). Super fresh and it made the meal muy bueno. Overall, Margaritas Cafe of Williston Park is a swell place to have a meal and make it feel like a fiesta. It'll be a "compact" fiesta for sure and you might have to wait a bit for it to begin, but don't let that stop you. I'll gladly return for more (maybe I'll try another location too). Nice service, decent prices but just average food. Owned by the same group that runs The Cuban, this is one of a few Mexican eateries in a chain that offers Mexican-American standards like tacos, burritos, nachos, enchiladas etc. This location is small and pretty tight but the decor is spot on with lots of tributes to the great Frida Kahlo. Not recommended if you're going with a party larger than 4. In terms of food, it was decent but not memorable. The sampler had lots of things to pick from (jalapeno poppers, nachos, taquitos, etc.) but the inclusion of buffalo wings threw me. Tacos were average - steak was well cooked but the tortilla for some reason couldn't hold the filling and 2 of my tacos didn't make it to my mouth. Flavors were ok though. The wife got a skirt steak which had good flavor but was cooked unevenly - rare in the middle and well done on the ends. The arroz con pollo was pretty awful - just their rice mixed with the grilled chicken (I know this isn't the dish to get ever at a Mexican restaurant but my son needed to order something since they didn't have what he wanted). The restaurant also for some reason ran out of pork tacos (see preceding sentence). One wonders how that happens on a Friday night at 7 and later on in the evening we discovered that the dessert chimichangas suffered the same fate. Prices are pretty reasonable and the service here was very good. Servers are friendly and attentive which makes up for the so-so food. Overall not a bad meal but I think I'd rather just go to a mom and pop taqueria and get my fix there. read more

Thank goodness my toddler is little and I could push the table back and make room. Uncomfortable. The food was not nearly as good as I remembered. I went with a large group. Very noisy place with a band playing music throughout the dinner. The best part of the meal was the guac which was freshly prepared at the table. After that downhill, the service was cordial but appeared overworked. I had the Mole Chicken which I found OK , but nothing special. Across the table I got similar reactions. I've been here a couple of times before and the food has been ok. But I've been going to a lot of Mexican restaurants recently and I have to say that this runs far behind ANY of the others. I had #7 which was 3 enchiladas, one steak, one chicken, and one cheese. The steak was cut in small pieces and was so over cooked that it looked more like dog food. The chicken had very little chicken. And the cheese was the best. But it didn't take much to be best. The sauce over the top resembled and tasted like a can of hunts tomato sauce. It's a very small restaurant and you're basically sit with the people at the next table. Very hard to not follow their conversation and got them to not follow yours. The server was ok. Not friendly not nasty - just there. Basically I see no reason to ever come back. read more

Ate here twice. Happy Hour is not great at all- the only margarita they discount is the house one and it's not good. Food is also not great. Husband got sick from it and so did I the first time. I've now been here twice, and LOVED IT both times! I came in yesterday for lunch with some friends to celebrate my birthday and we all enjoyed ourselves very much. The Guac is amazing, they roll their little guac station over to your table and make it right in front of you. I ordered a Margarita and it was perfect. All of us really enjoyed our main course as well. The service was amazing, my friend was convinced she was falling in love in our server LOL! At the end, to my surprise the staff came with a sombrero, maracas and tequila to sing happy birthday and pour me a shot, it was so unexpected, but it was great. I have been to other Margarita Cafe locations where my favorites are the East Meadow and Wantagh locations. However, this one is very close to where I work. My experiences have only been during lunch hours. Parking can be very tough in this area. They always seem to be short staffed during lunch, that the main bartender is usually the table waiter as well so he's constantly running around. The drinks are very watered down and if you get a flavored margarita it's very sugary. They also do not believe in any buy backs when you sit at the bar and order a few rounds. Also, they aren't consistent with the lunch portions. For example, I sometimes ask for a side of tostones where sometimes they have gave me only 2.... while sometimes they have gave me 5 or 6.... When I mention this to the waiter/manager, they say it's the correct normal lunch portion, but doesn't make sense at all so it seems to be very inconsistent. They need to have at least another person on during lunch, need to work on the consistency of portion sizes for each chef working, as well as to make a good margarita without being too sugary/sour. read more

Solidly consistent Mexican grub! This location in Williston Park seems to be a little bit more fancy than the others I've been to in East Meadow and Woodbury. Parking is a bear however. We started off with an order of calamari and empanadas for an appetizer. The calamari was nice and crunchy and not chewy at all. Really Well done! The empanadas were a tad dry but they seemed very fresh. We also ordered a sangria pitcher which was delicious. It had nice pieces of fresh fruit in it. I ordered the chimichangas which did not disappoint. Again, standard stuff. Nicely executed plate with a side of rice and beans. Fried nicely. Exactly what I expected. My dinner partner ordered a flank steak dish. He requested it medium rare and it was cooked perfectly to temp. The steak was also accompanied by rice and beans. He was very pleased with his order. Overall, the main course portion want mind blowing. Prices were affordable. I think this place could benefit from a little creativity with its side dishes. The rice and beans were pretty "meh". For desert, we both ordered flan. My flan seemed impressively homemade and very fresh. This place will probably be a ton of fun when these Covid restrictions finally wind down. The bar looked like a cool place to hang out. Our waiter (I forgot his name) was great. Very responsive and made sure we were well taken care of. Overall a solid 4/5, the bland sides were about the only negative I can think of. Social distance and mask guidelines are being followed very rigidly here. read more

All I can say was the meal was LIT!!! Started off with a pitcher of margaritas, then we went for the homemade guac (prepared at the table,) then came our incredible meals. I got the steak rancheros (recommended by one of the many friendly waiters.) It was absolutely incredible. The mariachi band also sang happy girlfriend to my girlfriend and got a complimentary shot of tequila. It was such a fun night and we will without a doubt be returning. read more
