We had such a great experience at Tacombi in Long Island! Our server, Rene, made the entire visit exceptional. I'm a very indecisive person, and he was incredibly patient, attentive, and knowledgeable while helping me decide what to order. I had no idea Tacombi offered fish and shrimp tacos, I thought the menu was mostly beef, chicken, and pork. Rene recommended the fried fish tacos, and they were absolutely incredible. Honestly, they were some of the best tacos I've had in New York, and that's coming from someone who lives in NYC! Such a pleasant surprise. Rene also recommended our drinks, and everything was spot on. The esquites were delicious, and the bartender Bryan even came to our table to explain what a michelada was, which added a really nice personal touch to the experience. The service was fast, friendly, and welcoming from start to finish. Everyone made us feel genuinely taken care of, and it created such a fun atmosphere. I have been to several Tacombi locations, and this one has a pretty interesting setup, mostly outdoor but covered Very casual and relaxed atmosphere, service was pretty chill. We had the carnitas tacos, beef birria tacos, Baja crispy fish tacos, corn esquite, and a carnitas quesadilla. Tacos was good, lots of flavor and nice fresh toppings, and the quesadilla was cheesy and nice spiced Drinks was too sweet for me though and kinda weak on the alcohol. read more

We tried Tacombi for the first time over the Father's Day and birthday weekend, and I am officially obsessed! The steak taco was incredibly juicy and packed with flavor, the street corn was an absolute 10/10, and those fish tacos were genuinely outta this world. Shoutout to their outdoor setup for being so welcoming to our pup during our birthday and Father's Day weekend outing. I highly recommend the juicy steak tacos and the street corn! I really enjoyed the Tacombi in Forest Hills so finally decided to check out the Tacombi in Westbury when I had to go to Marshall's right nearby. It's a pretty cool spot for being in the middle of a shopping center parking lot. They have indoor and outdoor dining, and a pseudo bar area. I would have tried a margarita but I had a cold so went for the watermelon juice. It was good but not as fresh as I remember the Forest Hills watermelon juice being. The carne asada taco was good especially with adding the free green sauce. The shrimp taco was fairly good too. The small chips and guac were good and fresh and didn't have tomato, though you can't customize the spice level. The service was friendly but slow. Overall enjoyable Mexican spot especially if watching the bottom line compared to other Mexican spots nearby. read more

So been to this spot in the city and was excited to try it out here on the island. The food was fresh they give a small Portion for a large guacamole that cost 15 dollars. Our serve was okay he was attentive but made some assumptions when placing orders for the table. The ambience was quote at the lunch time we went. I tried Tacombi for the first time and their taco was good! Since I usually order birria taco at other taco places, I decided to try their beef birria taco. It was around $7 and the taco itself is an okay portion, but the taste was great and the broth that came with the taco was also delicious! If you're going for lunch, I saw they have lunch special which I'm planning to try in my next visit. They also have kids eat free promotion on Monday :) Definitely try if you haven't! read more

This place was just meh for me... the only positives were the free chips and salsa and the margarita I got before my meal. The server was super nice but he was the only one for the whole restaurant and was running around to all the tables like a chicken without a head. Me and the hubs got a bunch of items to share and 90% of them were incorrect. We either asked to omit things or put things on the side and it was like nothing the waiter entered on his handheld device got to the kitchen. Super frustrating when it didn't need to be that way. The food was OK, only 1-2 items really stood out for me. And to be honest, I take pics of my food at every meal when I go out. I wasn't the least bit interested in doing it this time. This tacombi location has plenty of parking in front, and if not, then there's a whole parking lot nearby within walking distance. Plenty of seating inside as well! Very large location compared to queens/manhattan/brooklyn locations. We ordered the Agua de Jamaica (Hibiscus juice) and the Agua de Piña (pineapple juice) for drinks. Both were very good but we liked the Hibiscus one more! For tacos, we had the Baja crispy fish taco, carne asada, al pastor, and crispy chicken tinga. In another location, we were pretty disappointed with the Baja crispy fish tacos and we wanted to give it another chance at this location. While the taco itself wasn't soggy this time (thankfully!), the flavor remains the same - bland. It lacks flavor. Maybe it's just how tacombi makes it but they boast a good Baja crispy fish tacos. If that's what you're looking for, probably look elsewhere. The taco that stood out the most was the crispy chicken tinga taco. By far, best taco of the ones we had at Tacombi! Has a slight kick, very flavorful, and very messy but what taco isn't? Haha! We were disappointed that every other table was given salsas to go with their tacos, but we weren't. At other locations, we were given them but not here. To be honest, service was pretty slow and we noticed the workers just chatting away in a huddle while we waited. Good work relationships are to be cherished, however please also be attentive! Lastly, we ordered the churros with chocolate dipping sauce. While tempting, I'd advise to skip. You can find better churros somewhere else as well! But if you're craving it, it'd probably satisfy that craving. read more

The place was semi inside and semi outside. The decor and vibe was cool and the service was great. I ordered the lunch special which was a good price. I also ordered a margarita which was decent. I just discovered that I've eaten at a Tacombi restaurant before, one in Flatiron and another in Brooklyn. Now I'm adding the Long Island Westbury location to the list. I will say, one thing that has stayed consistent is the wonderful service. I've been to the Westbury location twice already and have always had a pleasant experience. The food is solid and is definitely worth adding to your Taco Tuesday list. So far, I've had the tacos and a Birria Burrito. The Burrito is massive and super filling. The tacos are reasonable and you're good with just three if you're regular hungry. The ambiance gives street taco stand, which is the point, but it's super cozy and chill. My kind of vibe. Had no idea there's been a Tacombi in Westbury. I came in after some shopping and the decor was so pleasing to the eyes and restaurant itself was open, spacious and clean. The staff was very friendly and made it a point to make myself and my guests feel welcome. I enjoyed my vegan Burrita which was full of flavor and freshness. This is a 3.5-star review. Some friends swear by this place and told me so much about it. So, while I was out running errands (Total Wine & More and Target), wifey and I decided to check it out. The place has a really chill vibe, and I like the minimal design and colors. The staff all had smiles on their faces and were very nice and accommodating. Food-wise, though, I was expecting more. We ordered the Corn Esquites, Beef Birria, Baja Crispy Fish, Carne Asada, and Al Pastor Quesadilla. The corn was pretty good, and the chicken quesadilla wasn't bad. The chicken had flavor, but the quesadilla could have used more cheese. As for the tacos, here's how I would rank them from best to worst: fish, birria, and then carne asada. I'm not a big fan of fish taco either, so keep that in mind. For the sauces, the spiciest one was the best-tasting, followed by the green one, and then the medium one. Overall, it wasn't bad. Would I give them another shot? Probably. But I can't imagine they would be much better than another place I reviewed with 5 stars. read more

The rice and beans were well seasoned and flavorful. The Carne asada and Al Pastor tacos were ok, but very basic in taste compared to the other 2. All were about the same price, so they fell short. Service was pleasant and efficient. They have a takeout window as well as a covered open air, outdoor restaurant area for waiter table service. Slow kitchen, awful service, bland food, but high-tier aesthetics and PLENTY of parking space. TLDR: Skip Tacombi, and stick to your local taco truck. Walked in hoping for a spot to dine-in, let a waiter acknowledge my existence and played the waiting game. 20 minutes pass, and I'm seated, where I'm promptly ignored for another half hour. I get a good look at the building during this waiting period, and I gotta say the decor is absolutely spectacular- I would be impressed if I weren't so upset. At this point I decide to place my order through Uber Eats since I'm getting nowhere with the waitstaff. I'm only have to wait for another 15-20 minutes, then abandon my table (where I have yet to be attended to) to pickup my order from the front counter. I take my food, go to an outdoor table (which again, gorgeous decor even on the outside) and lay out my food to assess everything that just happened. Definitely not having the best time so far. Diving right into my Corn Esquite, it's a small cup of cheese and spices that taste exactly how you would expect. However, I'm assuming this cup had been sitting for a while, and over time the accumulated steam pooled up in my cup. It made a very watery corn and cheese mix that was a bit unpleasant as I got further into my cup. Still, the initial bites were great and I would order it again despite the setback. Hoping the next dish will be better, I get right into my Crispy Fish taco. I LOVE fish tacos, and it was heartbreaking to take that bite to immediately taste disappointment. Very bland, and unfortunately soggy fish that desperately needed the hot sauce provided on the side. The Al Pastor was no different. Chicken Quesadilla DID have a texture that was quite nice, but had the same blandness the tacos suffered from. My saving grace from this experience ended up being the Piña Agua Fresca, which was cold, refreshing, and delicious. It was a welcome bit of flavor that was sorely lacking from the rest of my food. I will say, this was all happening during a busy hour, and I understand rushes being hectic and wait times can understandably get long. However, this is the first time I was straight up forgotten by a restaurant- I don't even know how it was possible when I was sitting at a table DIRECTLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BUILDING! And the quality I received is unacceptable, especially at this price point. Save your money and hit up a local taquero instead. read more

A casual taco spot decorated to transform your dining experience to seem like you're in Playa de Carmen. All that's missing is the sand and the sun. I was here on a fairly cold evening so the heat lamps that hung overhead helped but it was still too cold to sit long and enjoy my meal. I was worried the food would get cold quickly. The menu is fantastic: carnitas, pork, steak, quesadilla, tortas and more. Great spot for a casual night out. Bar and select soft drinks available. Needs more insulation for the winter months but it's great I'm sure, for the warmer weather. Only thing is the temperature outside was 45. But no worries, heat lamps are hung all around this place. But eat quickly or the food will get cool faster than you'd like. Not sure how they will heat this place during the even colder months but it's sure to be a hot spot the other three seasons. Food was Delicious! Staff was friendly and we ordered by scanning the QR code. There is table service if you request it but the app was easy enough. Must try, the guacamole and fresh chips. Most likely not here for the food though, which was miniscule, mediocre and rather pricey for what you get. It must be for the cool open air environment and large selection of cocktails and beers. Also if you are sitting way in the back, the music is too loud for my taste. Hard to carry on a pleasant conversation. So we moved out to the front where it's all open air, no wall separating the outside, and less noisy. Service is 5 stars. Not sure of the name of our server, but she was great! Pleasant and very helpful. Tried a few different items across the board. Tacos ($5-7) were small and lacking much ingredients. You'd probably need to eat at least four of these to be full. Tried the fish. Nothing out of the ordinary. Tried the shrimp. The shrimp (I think the taco only had one shrimp) was cut into tiny bites. I've been to dozens of Mexican joints for shrimp tacos. This is the first place that cut up the shrimp. Maybe it's to make it appear like there is more of it. Also sauce was on the too spicy side which I wasn't expecting. Tried the chicken taco. Nothing special. Small portion overall, to the point that it looked sad. I also tried other items but not worth talking about. Oh, the guacamole was good. Nice and fresh tasting. Excellent. Decor. This place is huge, with high ceilings and plenty of casual seating. With also some picnic tables around the outside. Final note. A beautiful restaurant to eat at while enjoying the beautiful weather in October. Came for an early dinner and the sun was setting, make sure to sit where the sun doesn't blind you because I did and I got a little red on my nose and cheeks when I got home. My favorite taco was the fried fish. It was a nice crispy and airy piece of fish with an amazing flavor. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the carnita taco and my elote in a cup. The corn wasn't sweet at all and it lacked flavor so I couldn't even finish it. The carnitas needed more seasoning. The drinks on the other hand for happy hour was really good, so good I ordered 2!
