I honestly don't even know where to start because this was one of the most frustrating experiences I have ever had trying to get my car worked on. I contacted Mobile Mechanics in Lehi, Utah, on Tuesday to schedule an appointment because I needed my car fixed as soon as possible. I was told they would come out on Thursday at 9:00 AM. I made plans around that appointment, cleared my morning, and waited because I genuinely needed my car back on the road.
Thursday morning comes around, and I am sitting there waiting at 9:00 AM. 9:15 passes. 9:30 passes. At this point, I'm thinking, "Okay, maybe they're running a little late." By around 30 minutes after the scheduled appointment time, there was still no mechanic and, more importantly, NO communication whatsoever.
So I called to find out what was going on. I was told something along the lines of, "Let me call the mechanic and find out his ETA, and I'll call you right back."
Well... they DID NOT call me right back.
Another 30 MINUTES went by. Still nothing. No phone call. No update. No explanation. No apology. Absolutely nothing.
At that point, I had already been waiting around for an hour for someone who was supposed to show up at 9:00 AM. I had no idea if the mechanic was even coming, where they were, or how much longer I was supposed to sit there and wait. My time apparently meant absolutely nothing to this company.
I eventually had my mom call, and at that point I was so frustrated that we decided to CANCEL THE APPOINTMENT. Why should I continue waiting around for a company that couldn't even give me the basic courtesy of communicating with me?
I am 17 years old, I'm in school, I work, and I have responsibilities. I was willing to pay what I needed to pay to get my car fixed because I NEED a reliable vehicle to get to work and get where I need to go. I made this appointment specifically because I was trying to get my car fixed as soon as possible. Instead, I wasted a huge amount of time waiting for someone who never showed up.
Now, because of this experience, I have to wait until NEXT TUESDAY to try to get my car worked on somewhere else. That means even more waiting and even more inconvenience because I was counting on this appointment actually happening.
The most upsetting part isn't even that they were late. Things happen. Mechanics can get delayed. Cars break down. Emergencies happen. I completely understand that. What I DON'T understand is making someone wait for an appointment, not showing up at the scheduled time, and then failing to communicate with the customer after specifically saying you would call them back.
If you know you're going to be late, CALL THE CUSTOMER.
If the mechanic is delayed, GIVE THE CUSTOMER AN ETA.
If something happened and the appointment can't happen, LET THE CUSTOMER KNOW.
Those are basic things that any professional business should be doing.
Instead, I was left sitting around wondering what was happening and having to repeatedly try to get answers myself. That is not how you treat a customer who scheduled an appointment and is willing to pay you to do a job.
I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with this entire experience. I cannot recommend a company that handles appointments and communication this poorly. I don't know what the quality of their actual mechanical work is because I never even got far enough for them to show up and work on my vehicle. Based on this experience alone, however, I would personally be very hesitant to trust them with my vehicle.
If you are thinking about making an appointment with this company, PLEASE make sure you are prepared for the possibility of wasting your time waiting around without communication. My experience was incredibly disappointing, and I would not want another person to have to deal with the same thing.
I gave this company an opportunity because I needed help with my car. I was willing to pay them and give them my business. All I expected in return was for them to show up when they said they would or, at the absolute minimum, communicate with me if there was a problem.
They couldn't even do that.
I will NEVER schedule another appointment with them after this experience. My time is valuable, and I expect a business to respect that. This entire situation was completely unacceptable, extremely frustrating, and a huge waste of my time.
If you can't make a scheduled appointment, DON'T make the appointment. If you're going to be late, COMMUNICATE. Customers shouldn't have to chase you down just to find out whether someone is actually coming.
Absolutely horrible experience. read more
