The gods answered my prayers for not only when an old school stereo & hi fi store to replace my compact disc player. But a place with a person who understood audio equipment. Now if your looking for a place like a Best Buy your sadly not gonna find it, but the guy working here knew his audio equipment and shared years of knowledge to place me into something I'd enjoy and use for another 10 years. I wasn't upsold so you need not fear this. You can sit in the listening room and jam out on a couch like you'd be doing at a college dorm. It's cluttered but felt homey so much you wanna go back just to hang with dude. I'm thinking of new speakers so I'll be back soon. I've been a customer of the Northgate Seattle Best Buy for 20 years…read more I've made many major purchases there - Sound system, TVs, laptops, washing machine & dryers, refrigerator, etc. I was always satisfied with the experience and customer service. That is, when they had customer service. As another Yelper noted, there is no longer a way to call the store. The local number (206) 306-7663 loops into AI nonsense that will not be able to help you - the 888 number is worse. Neither # has a way to connect you to the Northgate store to talk to a human. I spent way too much time this afternoon trying to navigate the "AI assistant" in order to schedule an appt with Geek Squad. Finally I gave up and searched online for a way to schedule - nope - not available. I was offered a slot in Everett WA, but no way to schedule for Northgate. I purchased a new Macbook Air in July and also purchased the Total Tech Support plan. Unfortunately, there is no way to contact them to set up an appointment. Yes, who in corporate made the brilliant decision to eliminate customer service?? (shaking my head)

Each of my visits were with a friend of mine who has been a customer for many years who pre-arranged our visits. Connon has been amazing setting up multiple options and swapping out components so we could listen to the differences in various turntables, preamps, amps, speakers, subs, etc. for my listening room project which I hope to complete this year (summer 2024). Although I haven't personally taken advantage of his offer yet, Connon is willing to buy back equipment for upgrades (less than full price). This lowers the cost and burden of experimentation on the journey to build an amazing audiophile listening experience. Four years in and I'm still super happy with my Planar 6 turntable. Connon gave me a great deal on a demo model with a pre-installed Ania moving coil cartridge on which I've played hundreds of records. I don't know of a better place to shop in Seattle for HiFi sound equipment. Note: I noticed a handful of reviews complained about the hours (not open Sunday-Tuesday), lack of immediate personal greeting, or a verbal caution when interacting with expensive equipment like a $5K cartridge. I haven't experienced the same, but I've only been to the store on pre-arranged visits when we knew Connon would be here. That said, I don't compare this store with a typical "walk in, buy something, and leave" store that's open every day, has prices marked on everything, but virtually no expertise to help you make the best purchase decisions. With a little patience, you can get the most personalized service available, great deals, and fantastic products. Highly recommend!
