My backup gas station. Not the cheapest gas but convenient and avoids the long lines at Costco. While I'll eat non brand food, I prefer branded gas seems like the quality is better. Haven't bought anything from inside so can't remark on service. read more

I come in here every morning to get my coffee or redbull. I'm polite and say good morning, pay for my items, say thank you, and keep it pushing. The guy who's working never says a word. Not hello, not thank you, nothing. This dickhole is outside as I'm walking up to the shop, and he stops me in the parking lot and says "I'm sorry I'm not going to help you anymore". I'm caught off guard, it's not even 7 a.m. I say excuse me? He repeats "I'm not going to help you anymore. You know what you did". I ask him if he's accusing me of something? I was confused. I apologized and said I didn't know what he was talking about. He just kept repeating "I'm not gonna help you anymore, you know what you did". Nonetheless, save your time and go a block further to the shell. This guys a weirdo. read more

This place is good for repairs and such, but not for gassing your car or picking anything up from their store section. Their convenience store is so small and has very limited options for snack/drink. As for gas, they only had one pump open! 2 of them said out of service, and the others wouldn't allow you to go past inserting your card. The screen would freeze after that. Won't be visiting again. read more

I am horribly finicky about people touching my cars but I trusted yelp reviewers on this one and everyone is right. Eli is a true Customer Service oriented individual who tells you why, how much, when, and thank you. I now have my auto technician in San Diego, thank goodness. Don't bother getting your car smogged here. Before I even turned over the keys, a technician was giving me the preamble about how lately even newer cars were failing. I knew I was in for a good one...and I got one. Apparently the fact that I recently had a 120K service done (2 wks prior) and the battery replaced caused "...the monitors to not come on for the test". I was given the directive to drive the car at least 100 miles before coming back for re-test at half price. The car had easily been driven 100 miles since its service. Even if this crafty tale is true, since when do you have to declare a new battery before getting a smog check?? I'm most humbled to post a retraction here. Eli was right about the whole new battery thing. I should have taken him up on his offer. I spent a lot more in the end. read more

I've always been one to take my vehicles to the dealership and pay their inflated prices for quality work. Not anymore! One night I was filling up at the Poway Mobil and my ignition locked out. Put in the key, wouldn't turn, nothing could fix it. Simply could not start my car. I called a tow truck to tow me to the dealership and the driver recommended I just leave it there for "Eli" to look at in the morning. I wasn't too thrilled about the idea, but I went for it anyway. The next morning I receive a phone call from Eli (the Service Manager) at 9:00am who explained the entire situation and gave me a fantastic quote for repair. I was back on the road the very next day. Since then I've brought 4 or 5 different high end vehicles to him for varying types of service. Everything from an oil change and tire rotation to a full on 90,000 mile maintenance and replacement. Eli and his father even do the maintenance on my Hybrid RX400 (most mechanics won't touch them). Like I said before... I never would have dreamed of taking my vehicles anywhere but the dealership for service, and now, I'll only take my vehicles to Poway Mobil. This is a great shop. A family owned and operated business. They're honest people and they treat you right! Eli is my mechanic. read more

I will not say that this is the place to get work done for cheapest cost, but then this the place which never does cheap work either. I have now known Eli for more than 8 months and by far anything he says is best for my cars. I just bought an IS350 and first thing I did was to take it to Eli and have him put his good hands around it. He always guides me with best possible and most important maintenance. I have tried not listening to him and faced consequences. I am myself an automotive engineer and work on the next generation systems that land in high-end cars and Eli is a person who understands what I talk and give me his ides too. I was on my way to work and my car started making strange noises so i called AAA right away. They referred me to Poway Mobil and it was on my way so i stopped by expecting to be turned away because i didn't have an appointment. Eli was quick to hop in my car with me and take a drive to hear the noise himself, he was so understanding and immediately diagnosed the problem. We took it back to the shop and he lifted the hood and had it fixed in less than an hour and i was on my way back to work in no time. Not to mention he only charged me for a half hour of labor plus the mount...excellent service, friendly staff, and flexibility under last minute circumstances. I recently ran into car problems and my car had to be towed to a repair shop. The AAA driver recommended this shop so I figured I would give it a try. Eli, the Service Manager, was awesome. He got my paperwork done and had Enterprise to pick me up within 15 minutes and got me on my way to work. I heard back from him a few hours later that my car was ready. When I went after work my car was ready and I was out in less than 10 minutes. He was very honest and straightforward, which can be quite difficult to find! I have nothing buy great things to say about this place. I was having a power distribution issue with my Ford F150 so I took it into the Dealer thinking it was a transmission problem and it would be covered by the warranty. The dealer came back and said the problem was caused by a faulty spark plug and it would cost over $1,000 to replace them. I did my research and it turns out that the spark plugs in my truck were a 2 piece design that were prone to break in the engine when trying to remove them. Apparently this is a recurring issue with a lot of Ford F150 owners with truck models 2006 & later (Thanks Ford...). I called several shops in the area that were completely unaware of the problem and couldn't provide an accurate estimate. When I called Poway Mobil, Eli was very knowledgeable on the issue and was able to quote me with a very reasonable price for replacement that was less than 1/2 what the dealer quoted. He was very personable throughout the whole process and explained exactly what he would need to do and how long I should expect it to take. The shop was able to remove all the spark plugs without any breaking (I'd never heard of anyone being able to do that in all the on-line Ford forums) and the costs were exactly what they had originally quoted me. My truck runs great now and I'll definitely be going back here for any future maintenance. read more

I came to Poway Mobile after I read the yelp reviews. I gave them a call and made sure they were doing smog check. It is really hard to find a good place to get smog check done. I don't like going to different places each time. I really liked this place. The crew is really really nice and efficient. They get it done by the time you get your paper work done! My engine light was on and I diagnosed the problem as a crackshaft position sensor (with an OBDII code reader). Replacing the sensor is simple but I needed the professional meter to perform the "re-learn" procedure. Didn't want to buy the expensive meter so I went to Mobile and met Eli. I told him the problem and he verified with his pro meter. The original quote was a little high only because the price for the sensor was incorrect in his guide. He got the sensor for 1/2 price and passed that savings on to me. Most mechanics will take advantage of you in that situation and you will never know. Eli also removed all the external built up oil residue from the engine after fixing an oil leak. The entire engine is nice and clean now. This place has that small town feel to it. Eli and his crew are locals and they know word travels fast so they really strive to do a good job and treat you honestly. I'm glad I met Eli and would go back. read more

I was referred to Poway Mobil by a previous mechanic. I was told by Eli that it was my sparks plugs. It was not. He said that he was going to do a diagnostic on my cylinders 7,8 . I had to ask for the results and he only produced a psi from #7. After $300.00 he said I need a new engine could not help me. When I had my truck towed to Perry Ford in Poway they said that they would read the codes. Well, Eli cleared the codes on my F150 so now they have nothing to go on. I was told by Perry Ford that you never clear codes untill the problem is fixed. I have gotten three other estimates on my truck and each mechanic has asked about codes when I tell them that Eli cleared the codes they said " thats not right, that should never be done unless the problem is fixed. When Eli was confronted he said that clearing the codes is normal practice. Never apologized. His bad decision is costing me additonal money. I will not be recommending Poway Mobil or Eli. read more
