A friend and I visited Mobay for lunch. I love the decor! It's a beautiful space. Everything was clean and orderly. Customer service was top notch! I had the jerk chicken plate with rice and cabbage with a beef patty. My friend had the jerk chicken tacos. Everything was delicious. I'd definitely return!

The food was tasty and the service was quick and the ambiance was a vibe. Came for a lunch date and it didn't disappoint.

I ordered takeout from MoBay Spice and was really impressed with how clean and classy the space looked when I stopped in. The décor feels elevated and modern, and the music was playing at a nice, chill volume. The customer service was also great, friendly and attentive even for a to go order. We tried the Salmon Rasta Pasta and the Oxtail Rasta Pasta. Both dishes had a nice kick and the salmon was cooked perfectly. The protein portions were on the smaller side though. The flavor was there, but it felt like it needed a bit more depth. It wasn't bland by any means, just missing that extra layer of saucy island flavor that would've taken it over the top.

**2nd Review**. Run don't walk to check out the brand new renovations at Mobay Spice. We went to have lunch as we enjoyed the first time and man........they have expanded. Double capacity. Chic model interiors without compromising Caribbean flavor. Extended bar capacity and full length bench seating. The place looks awesome. Once again I rocked the rasta pasta while the wifey had goat and my daughter had the oxtail mac and cheese. Great service, great ambience. We will definitely be back. Congrats on the renovation. THEY ARE BACK OPEN!! Go support. Zero regrets.

Four stars because 1. The service could've been a little better and friendlier, I find that when gratuity is included service is subpar and 2. The food took an hour and it was not as packed as it could've been. It took about an hour to get your appetizers once order and then another 30 min for our entrees and 3. The drinks are $18 which is expensive. HOWEVER!! the food was some of the best Caribbean food I've had. The jerk sauce is great ! The frozen Bob Marley was great as well. I would go back despite the long wait time and lacking service. Ambiance is very aesthetically pleasing!

Service charge and we tipped 20.00 because the server was really nice. The food was so awful had to take it home and fix it up.

Deeelish!!! I can't even begin to pretend to be an authority on Jamaican authentic cuisine, but what I can say is that this place was super damn tasty. The portions were a good size, and it was super fun to order a few dishes and share them! So happy I finally tried this local spot. Excited to go back! We went at lunchtime and got in and out smoothly within the hour. Service was decent.

    More inside

Let's start with the good, the ambiance is so good, it's beautiful in there. You don't feel silly dressing up , it's free parking, the ladies greet you with a smile, the service was pretty fast (it was pretty empty that night) and the lighting is so good for pics . Ok the cons . The food is INSANELY overpriced. In total we had 2 drinks, 1 appetizer, 2 main courses. The bill was $140.00, it is a mandatory tip but still coming from the northeast where a large oxtail dinner is $18.50. Don't get me wrong it was good! Cabbage was cooked to perfection, the oxtail fell off the bone, I do wish it had more gravy . The drinks were decent. We got the salmon dip for appetizer and we didn't care for that. Very watery for a dip it was more a vegetable dip... my girl also liked her curry chicken meal. The waitress was nice but when paying I confirmed tip was included because the little payment machine was asking for an extra $30 or so, she made a comment that it goes to the house and they have to split it , I'm sorry but I wasn't paying close to $200. I'd go back but probably for drinks at the bar and maybe an appetizer.

The restaurant is decorated very well and the seats are so comfy. My friend and I had an amazing time. The food was affordable and also really good. I enjoyed the beef empanadas as well as the jerk pork. Our server was great as well.

I'd been looking forward to trying Mobay Spice for a while and decided to stop in for lunch recently. The restaurant is fairly "cozy" and has a few high tops outside. I ended up sitting at the bar. The bartender was very attentive. I browsed the menu prior to arriving and knew exactly what I wanted to order. I chose the rum punch for my beverage, mango habanero wings for an appetizer and oxtail with rice and peas for my entree. The rum punch was good and strong. The wings were ok, but I was expecting the flavors to be more bold. The oxtail platter was a generous portion, but lacked flavor and could've been more tender. The rice and peas were bland as well and the cabbage was ok. While I did enjoy my time here, I can't say that I would return because I can't justify the price. It was over $80 with tax and tip for myself and the lack of flavors just didn't warrant such high prices.

I've passed this place on occasions when they're closed but I had time today and stopped in for lunch. Immediately I walked into a tranquil Caribbean atmosphere with the decor, the music and smell of good food. Not a large place but just the right size for a bar and several tables. I was greeted with a welcome in & told to sit where I want. I chose to sit at the front by the window to get a view of everything. I was on my lunch hour so I opted for the jerk chicken tacos and a side of fried plantain. No cocktail today - just water. I did see other patrons drinking and enjoying their libations. Presentation was excellent and my food came out quickly. The flavors were delicious, a side of jerk sauce for some extra spice and my plantains were served hot out the pan. Overall, Ashante was a great server who provided some conversation and asked if I'd give a review - of course! I stayed a little while to work after my table was cleared and the lunch rush came to a close. The tunes were on point with a mix of old and new reggae hits. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu for date nights.

This review is long overdue! Sorry Neirah! You and the entire staff were amazing. The food and customer service was a 10/10 experience! My friend & I ordered family style, so we shared the Oxtail Tacos, The Rasta Pasta, & the Curry Shrimp ... let me tell you, not a single flaw in their recipe! The food came out just right, from the seasoning, to the spice level, to the texture ... Mobay Spice has it down to a science! I used to live in New York City so my standards for good Jamaican food are pretty high & Mobay Spice exceeded my expectations. Easily the best Caribbean restaurant I've been to thus far in Atlanta! Keep being awesome guys! & once again, special thanks to Neirah! You were amazing & I hope to see you all back again soon!

Ok Mobay Spice this rice and peas and jerk chicken was on point!! I didn't realize the restaurant was back open for sit down so I went for takeout. It looks nice inside and I'd definitely return for a sit down meal. I was craving some back home fried chicken but that's not on the menu, so I had the jerk chicken instead. The rice and peas was exactly how it is in Jamaica, and the jerk chicken was very good. Generous servings as well, I had left overs.

Do they have any vegetarian options or will they be expanding their menu to include at least one veggie-friendly option?

From what I recall, several vegetarian sides. Rice and peas can be veggie, but probably have to ask. Good luck!

The fries were amazing and I should've gotten the aolie initially, but didn't get it until I saw another table with an order. It was delicious. The service was very good. The wait staff was attentive, making sure we had our beverages and if we needed anything before the 2 arrived. Once they arrived, the staff gave us a few minutes to make sure the 2 had a chance to look at the menus. We ordered appetizers to start...corn bread, sage fried pierogies and poutine. We weren't sure about the poutine because we didn't see any gravy, we did see the cheese curds on the fries, but once we finally dug in, the gravy was at the bottom. The pierogies were tasty. We asked if they could cut the cornbread so each of us could get a taste, which they did. Corn bread had a toasted texture, and the honey butter was delicious! Everyone ordered something different. One had fish and chips, which would seem to be a likely order for a pub. Their special for the day was a ruben. Another ordered a falafel sandwich, and I think 2 salmon BLT's and then one salad with rainbow trout. Portions were not overwhelming, but we realized that we were full from the appetizers and almost everyone ended up taking most of their main choices in doggie bags (boxes). As time got closer to the festival to start, it did get crowded, but the staff handled the influx of people and people were seated relatively quickly. This was a nice destination as most of the group live a drive from Decatur. Lovely afternoon visit!

The whole area actually looked like it had gotten a refresh since the last time I'd been around. There's a massive shared parking lot, and finding a spot was no problem. Once we parked, we followed the signs, walked through a courtyard, and found the entrance. Inside, a sign pointed us to the left, where we walked up to the counter and were greeted with a warm welcome. We grabbed a menu and quickly reviewed it. They don't offer flights, so we each ordered a couple of half pours. I went with a hazy and an IPA, while Wifey chose a watermelon pilsner and a lager. We placed our food order at the same counter--Wifey went with lemon pepper wings and mac and cheese. I ordered six spicy wings and a side of coleslaw. They provided an order number stand, we grabbed our beers and headed outside to a high-top table made from a barrel. The food came out surprisingly fast--they brought our trays right to the table. Everything looked great, and once we started digging in, the flavors backed it up. My wings had just the right amount of heat, and the coleslaw was a solid pairing. Wifey really enjoyed her wings too, though she said the mac and cheese could've used a little more flavor. Before leaving, we grabbed a couple more half pours. Wifey liked the watermelon pilsner so much, we ended up taking home a six-pack. It's pretty much a self-serve setup once your food arrives--you bus your own table, grab your own wet wipes and water, that kind of thing. It's a casual setup, so no big deal there. Out in the courtyard patio area, families and kids were everywhere--enjoying the "green" space, playing games and hanging out. I definitely noticed a diverse crowd--younger, older, from all backgrounds--everyone just enjoying the day. It truly felt like a space where all are welcome.
