3.5 stars! Came here with my line sisters to celebrate our 7th anniversary and we were a little taken aback by the lack of staff. Our server (whose name I forgot because I'm posting this late) stated that she in fact does not work there and was only there to "help out a friend" ..... *blank stare*. Given the circumstances, she provided decent service. For the most part, we were the only patrons in the business, yet getting our appetizers/drinks/food seemed to take a while. The drinks were decent yet slightly overpriced which can be expected in ATL at this point. The food, however, was pretty good! I had the seafood dip as an appetizer and loved it, and for an entree I had "jungle rice" with shrimp. It was very unique and tasty as well. I selected Modish to have a birthday brunch and baby it did not disappoint. Let me preface my review by saying I was very paranoid that this was not going to work out. I initially made a reservation for 16 people. Of course, people are going to people, and I had 4 more folks RSVP literally 1 hour after I made my initial reservation. So I wrote back immediately and asked to increase my number to 20 (they do handle large parties, fyi). They didn't respond right away so I sent a second request only for it to be denied. So I crossed my fingers and hoped people wouldn't show up and let's just say I did get lucky with that, lol. Please note they place a $50 hold on your card when you make the reservation, so if you cancel, no matter when, you will pay that $50. So keep that in mind. Also because people will people, I asked my friends to arrive at 2:00pm. The actual reservation was for 2:30. Plot twist- I was the one that ran late lol. However, I fully expected for my friends to be standing waiting for me at the door. Imagine my surprise that they were already seated! Because of this, I got a whole birthday girl entrance that I didn't even bank on lol. Okay so now to the service. Our waitress was amazing and I hate her name is escaping me right now. She was very accommodating and stayed on top of everything our table needed. Even when my late friends that are always late showed up, she made room at the main table we had (initially my reservation was split between two sections and people would have been isolated if we remained in that setup). The outside of the restaurant could use a lot of touching up in the parking lot smells like raw sewage. However, we took a chance and went inside after reading previous reviews. The ambience is nice. The food was good. The restrooms were actually clean and our bartender waitress was super friendly even though she was the only waitress that we saw. Went on a Sunday with a 7 PM reservation so the establishment was not extremely crowded. This is more for a younger crowd due to the music and just the feel of the restaurant lounge. I really wanted to like this place more than I actually did. Ambience, vibe & decor are very very nice. Seems like a great place to take friends. Food was not the best but it wasn't nasty. I asked for my lamb to be cooked medium and every single one was cooked differently - one well done, one medium, one medium well.. as for my collards they were very good, I just had SO many stems in it. I literally pulled out at least 5 from my bowl. Great flavor though. Mac and cheese was piping hot and pretty decent. I got the island ting to drink and I think it was a good. My friends got the Rasta pasta and said it had good spice but barely any sauce and actual flavor. Way too much oil in the bottom of the bowl too. My daughter's and I had the most amazing dining experience at Modish yesterday. We celebrated my oldest daughters birthday and could not have chosen a better restaurant. This was my second visit and I was not disappointed. PROS Service- Imani was an excellent server and bartender.. She was kind, patient and knowledgeable about the menu items. Food - The Rasta pasta with jerk salmon was Delish! Cocktail - Lady In Red FYI - I did tequila instead of Hennessy. Vibe - I've gone during the week and on a Saturday. Just. Don't. Go. I did not enjoy my experience at this restaurant. I was immediately put off when my husband and I approached the entry door. He was patted down. My purse was searched. This is a restaurant. We were there for brunch. I've just never experienced anything like that before. We both found it insulting. I was particularly offended on behalf of my husband. He found the experience quite invasive as the young man groped the keys in his pocket. It was just not good. Before we could even get in the restaurant we did not like the place. I came on a Thursday and Saturday night and enjoyed both visits. I love the ambiance and the DJ is on point! My waitress was super friendly and attentive. The spot is a little small, so reservations are a must on the weekend. Weekday I was able to just walk-in. On Thursday we ordered, calamari, bang shrimp, chicken empanadas and steak rolls. The bang shrimp was banging!! Everything else was ok a tad bit salty. We also ordered drinks and hookah which were both great. Came here for a birthday dinner and was more than pleased. I placed a reservation onlIne for 8 people, 2 days before my scheduled date (I like to live life on the edge). They quickly confirmed my reservation via email and answered all my questions. Modish is a new restaurant, they do not yet have the letterhead at the top of their storefront, so it is easy to miss if you're not looking carefully. They are located in a strip mall off of Buford highway with free parking, so it's very conveniently located. The decor is very nice, spacious but inviting and intimate. Music is BOMB, with a DJ spinning around 9 that evening (a Thursday). The drinks are wonderful, all very tasty and the thought out. My favorite is the Marble Glass, a drink that comes with a big bubble on top that you can POP! Crowd favorites are the Island Ting and the Lady in Red. Food is on point as well!! I was a little hesitant to come because the birthday girl needed her veggie options, but they had them and they were really good! My favorites were the Cajun pasta and the veggie tempura. My friends LOVED the ribeye and the lamb chops. We also ordered hookah, it was smooth and lasted for a long time. They have a happy hour menu from 7-9 that rocks too! Location and Parking They are located on Buford highway, right before the intersection of North Druid Hills. I may be dating myself, but I have been to the club and let's just say the kids these days don't party like we used to. They have a parking lot, but you can definitely expect it to get full on weekends with there being multiple restaurants and also a club. This night we were able to get a spot not far from the restaurant, and since it was raining that night it was appreciated. Reservations, Venue, and Atmosphere My friend did make a reservation because there was a large group of us and we were going later in the evening on a Saturday. The venue is decent size. Before you walk in there is someone outside checking ID's before you come in. I'm not sure if it's 18+ or 21+, but I do know that I'm older than both so it doesn't really matter to me lol. Inside there is a grass wall around about half of the restaurant. The bar is to the left and so was the DJ. There is both booth and table seating with high tops tables towards the back. The atmosphere was club adjacent. It seems like the attire was semi-dressy. There's a dress code on the website but it didn't seem like there were any violationsThere were a few people celebrating birthdays so there were a nice number of groups. The DJ was on set playing music, which would have been except for the fact that it was almost impossible to have conversations with the people in your party. They also have hookahs, but we didn't partake this night. Food and drinks Along with the DJ playing the music too loud this is where they lost more traction with me. For drinks I decided to have the Georgia Peach, which was supposed to have been made with Jameson, but mostly tasted like peach juice. My partner got the Island ting, and the only thing she was able to taste was pineapple juice. If I come back I know now to ask for my drinks as a double, which is probably gonna be an extra charge but at least I'll have a buzz. My partner and I weren't super hungry because dinner was so late so we decided to get a bunch of appetizers and just share them. We settled on calamari, oxtail egg rolls, seafood dip and the beef soya. The calamari was nicely fried with a very seasoned batter and was served with a thai chili sauce. The oxtail egg rolls were flavorful and the gravy was it was served with was also flavorful.The seafood dip was served with tortilla chips and pita bread chips and it was pretty good. The Suya on the other hand was not good at all, it was overcooked to the point that the meat was tough to chew. My partner and I were both disappointed on that front. Service Service was ok. I honestly think that since we were a large party we should have had either two servers or our waitress should have had some additional help. She had to bring our drinks and food in batches, which is no shade to her but I just think that it would have been better for her. She checked on us every so often and we weren't really without anything. Verdict Overall. Modish was just ok. The food was hit or Miss with a few things. I was initially surprised when they told us that they only do late night brunch on Fridays but we proceeded anyway. The steak was salty but eggs and potatoes were good Lamb chops did not have any crust, looked boiled but was seasoned well. Oxtail was great and spicy but the grits that it was served with were hard and inedible. Overall, not bad Our server was nice. The interior was cute and sort of different from what I have seen. I've seen this place all over and have been wanting to try it out. I came here on a Friday evening around 7:30ish and they were only serving brunch, so the menu was very limited. Them serving brunch is no issue to me because I loveeee brunch food lol. My only thing is that my waffle was pretty tough BUT my chicken had a really great taste. My sisters ended up getting a lemon drop and and a dusserita and they were both REALLY sweet! Although, the Dusserita kind of reminded me like margarita mix from the bottle. Ok Folks, I found another hidden gem. This spot is kind of tucked back, in the Sun Tan shopping center and totally non descript from the outside. But step in side and they have 12 jumbo tvs and a warm inviting atmosphere. They have a full service bar and the bartender knows how to make the PERFECT espresso martini. The furniture is beautiful plush teal, the space is warm and inviting, large CLEAN restroom and we went on Sunday for brunch and the DJ was on FYRE. Now, the music was originally so loud we had to shout at our waitress, but we asked the DJ to bring it down a notch, and he complied immediately. But of course the most important part of a review is the food. It was brunch so I had the Pimento Cheese Waffle sliders made with chicken breast. The order comes with 3 large sliders, with the chicken juicy and completely drenched in the sweet hot honey sauce. The waffles are fluffy and chewy at the same time. each slider is the size of a breakfast biscuit sandwich, but the chicken is cut thick. Delicious. It comes with fluffy, fresh scrambled eggs and you can tell the eggs are real eggs. My brunch mate got the chicken and waffles, which came with 3 full chicken wings, seasoned and crunchy, and a thick Belgian waffle with fresh strawberries and blueberries. Exquisite. A great shout out to CAT , our waitress who was attentive without hovering and took very good care of us. Please don't let the outside of the place fool you or stop you for stepping in for a good meal and a great cocktail. It may look a little janky from the parking lot, but Modish is the shiny pearl inside the crusty oyster. The ambiance in there is beautiful i can't even explain how satisfied i was with it. We came in sat down the staff was very nice, you could tell that our waiter was new he could definitely use some more training but he was sweet just a little slow. I started off with the marble glass drink it was good, he couldn't get the bubble to work on all or our martini glasses which sucked but i will give it to him he did try! The drink was pretty good but the red lady one was definitely better very well balanced. For appetizers we had the empanadas which were really good the filling was very seasoned outside nice and flaky. The calamari was really good the sauce that came with it was amazing, also the bang bang shrimp to die for definitely enjoyed them the most! For dinner I had the fried lobster tail and grits it was definitely different from your typical lobster and grits but it was good! I loved how it was a soupy effect to it not too salty or spicy the lobster was cooked great! Wish it was more grits but overall really good. I paired it with the Brussel sprouts that were like a hint of brown sugar vinaigrette thing it was great! My friend had the Ribeye and it was cooked to perfection the sauce that also was served with that and the lamb chops was good! We went here last night for a birthday dinner. Unfortunately, this restaurant failed to meet our expectations. The atmosphere was nice and the music selection was great all night. However, our server, who never even gave us her name, was more interested in smoking hookah behind the bar than serving guests. Truly, not worth the 20% auto gratuity imposed upon every table regardless of party size. For appetizers, many of the food items were bland and lacking any depth of flavor. We ordered the oxtail egg rolls which were good once you dipped them in the oxtail gravy but not without it. For entrées, we ordered the herb crusted lamb chops and braised Jamaican oxtails. The lamb chops themselves were excellent, however, the mac & cheese and smoked turkey collard greens were definitely lacking flavor. Even the house made au jus tasted like nothing. The oxtails were great as well, but again, the sides were subpar. The cabbage has absolutely no flavor and tasted like crunchy water and the rice & peas were extremely dry. In short, this restaurant is priced as though they're an upscale establishment when that's for from the truth. My advice, save your money and go somewhere else. Wanted some food and drinks to celebrate a friend moving from ATL and decided on Modish. It was a Friday evening and thankfully there were plenty of seats. I started off with a spicy mule and was a little disappointed as it was just watered down with some spiciness. I ordered the crab and shrimp dip and decided on trying a marble glass since my friends were raving about it. The dip was pretty good and the pita bread that came with it was the perfect touch. Marble glass was a hit!!!! Super cute and packed a punch ok. Definitely a 10/10. However if you're not a fan of mint stay away. And last but not least my entree came the Rasta pasta. Babbbyy if you're scared of spice then this is not the dish for you! The pasta was spiccccccy. Not exactly my cup of tea. Came here for an early dinner on a Monday night, which isn't easy to do because most restaurants are closed on Mondays. The setup was pretty cool so that checked out, my waitress was nice and attentive and had great conversation for an outta t owner like myself. Now, lets get to the food! I ordered the fried snapper, lobster mac & cheese along with Brussels sprouts. The fish was trash. It came with sautéed onions and peppers but the taste was nonexistent. It actually smelled fishy, so that told me it was on the verge of going bad or already bad. I ate a small portion of the tail before i realised what the quality of the fish was. The lobster was decent. It was basically a small fried lobster tail and just mac. There was no lobster pieces in there at all. The Brussels sprouts were pretty decent as well. They were tossed in this sweet chili like sauce and after a while, it became too much for the pallet. My bill came to $93 and that is WITHOUT alcohol. Visited for a birthday. They are still a fairly new establishment and gaining their footing. The staff is very friendly which is a plus and can be helpful when it comes to the speed of service which was slower than expected being one of the first groups into the restaurant for the evening. I think as they gain speed in their service the experience will for sure be a five star experience. The atmosphere is nice. They had a DJ Saturday night when we went and the decor is super cute and chic. The ladies restroom is clean and even has sanitary items available which is super cool. The food was pretty good. However I must warn/state: several people in my party ordered the seven cheese Mac and cheese and were very disappointed with it stating that there was clearly only one cheese involved in the making of the Mac and cheese. Also, the spinach dip that someone ordered had to be sent back because it was clearly just a cheese dip. Other than that, everyone loved their food! Take note that the only entrees that come with a side automatically are the burgers. Everything else will require you to order your sides separately. The drinks with the bubble were a hit amongst everyone that ordered them. Again, they are a new establishment and it seems they are still finding their way. The other drinks we ordered were okay. They took some time on this from the bar to the flooring and decor. 5/5 there. It's definitely a turn up spot, but still a level of sexy as far as the vibe. Now, our waiter was just slow as hell. My partner and I visited Modish around 5:30 on a Friday. We were hoping to catch Happy Hour but unfortunately they do not do Happy Hours on Fridays. This restaurant is somewhat hidden. You have to read the doors to find it. We were seated immediately because there were not a lot of people there. The facility was clean and the music was loud. We ordered drinks, a hookah and about four appetizers to share. Everything was amazing. Each dish was so flavorful and tasty. We even got more wings to go. We ordered the chicken empanadas, brussel sprouts, bang bang shrimp and sesame wings. Our margaritas were also delicious. Our server was good as well. The facility itself is cute and chic. I would rate this place a solid 6/10. The aesthetic is super cute and they have very Instagram post-able cocktails, but the food was ehhh. I ordered the bang bang shrimp, yams, and macaroni and cheese. The shrimp was fried very hard and was way too crunchy for my liking, with not enough sauce. The yams sauce tasted fine, but the actual yam itself was very bland. Additionally, the macaroni and cheese had a lot of cheese "pull" but 0 flavor. This spot is quaint and has great ambiance. Great for a low key night to get dinner and drinks. They also host game night and wine nights regularly. I had a good time on a week night with some girlfriends; it was lively but not crowded. read more

Came here on a Sunday for a brunch date , and I was pleasantly surprised.. the décor was immaculate and the vibes were amazing . We decided to sit at the bar and was met with the friendliest bartender named Bre .. she had the sweetest personality! We went here on a Monday night for a birthday dinner. We were originally the only customers here and there was a 45 minute to an hour wait for our food. The food arrived cold so we were confused on the time it took to come out. The food had a good taste. I would recommend getting the stuffed chicken breast and lobster Mac. The greens were good too. The Birthday girl was in from out of town and she picked this restaurant because of the vegan options. I was surprised when the options were limited. My friend talked about having the vegan cheesecake the whole meal just to find out, they were out of it. Very disappointing. read more
