I rate a restaurant based on my expectations for a place of that type. As a diner, I was very pleased. I had the smothered moab beef sandwich and loved it. We had a big group and our waitress was very accommodating of 11 kids and 6 adults. We went there after some hiking on a hot day and it was a perfect, air-conditioned respite. The food came out fast, the shakes were delicious, and we finished our meal with a fantastic brownie Sunday. Exceeded my expectations! I had the Diner Deluxe burger, and it was cooked to my liking. The Geoff's burger sauce is delicious, and the fries were cooked perfectly! I was pretty sure I was walking into a tourist trap... prepared for highly overpriced "industrial" food and poor service. Wait for it... WRONG!!! Thus place had great food (not 500 things on the menu like some dinners) at very reasonable prices. And the service was great... polite, prompt, and proud (of their diner and their town). We started our meal with the Sweetwater potatoes: nicely cooked sliced spuds with bacon, cheeses, pepper and sour cream (on the side at our request). It was just the right size for a shareable appitizer for two. My date had a beef taco salad (real steak not some sliced mystery meat) with a large portion of Avocado. The lettuce was fresh and crisp and the shell was flakey. I opted for the open faced roast beef sandwich covered in green chili. The meat was tender and the chili had great flavor and a subtle heat. We were too full to get dessert, but heard lots of raves from other diners. And the ice cream portions are outrageously large. So, not a tourist trap, just good food done right at reasonable prices served by nice people. Try the Moab Diner, they won't disappoint. read more

Oh Moab Diner. This place was alright. It lives up to its name of classic diner fare. The place was so packed for what you get here. The food is good, but not great, so I wouldn't expect this place to of been packed for the 2 ish hours we were here for. Especially with all the other restaurants you can enjoy in Moab. You can definitely get a lot of food, for little money. The food won't blow you away, but it's a great family joint. I got the chicken fried steak, which was alright. The gravy didn't have much flavor to it, which was a slight bummer. The steak was burned quite a bit, but it luckily didn't taste to bad with some char on it. The portion size was really big, but i would rather have smaller portions if it means the food taste better. The salads were pretty basic that come with the food. My friends got burgers, which they enjoyed as well. Overall, you won't be impressed with the quality, but the overall food is... good and hearty. The value is perfect for a family, you won't spend much money. Also, if you want dessert, oh man. Definitely get some ice cream here. They have the quality stuff and the portion sizes are, once again, huge. The one scoop of ice cream is two scoops when compared to most creameries. I know you probably here that all the time, but it's legit here. If you are needing a quick bite to eat, and want some decent grub. This is probably your place. Great place for many multiple reasons. We arrived from the mountains cold and hungry and were seated and given menus immediately. The staff was very friendly and followed all the CDC Covid safety measures. Our waiter took our order and was very patient with us as we were very hungry and the menu is pretty extensive. The most impressive was the quality of the food and how fast it came out. And the restaurant was already busy with the evening crowd. We ordered appetizers and 4 entrees and food came almost immediately. The kids really enjoyed milk shakes - they are very delicious and I highly recommend ordering one for a great Diner experience. We still can't understand why this place was so packed. The ambience was cool and staff was really nice. But! My boyfriends breakfast burrito was more like a flattened egg quesadilla with the flavorless green sauce poured over the top and my scramble had so little flavor that I ordered a side of gravy to amp it up a bit and still needed to add salt. The orange juice was watered down... that's just wrong... come on people. I've had more flavor on an airplane. Our waiter asked how the food was and we told him, "uhhh not good" and he responded with a upbeat "I'm sorry" and walked away. At least he was nice, I guess. Part of the dinning review of Moab, UT I had breakfast here. It was busy when I got there. The service was a little slow but friendly. I had the Mountain Bikers Breakfast. The eggs with ham, bells and onions was very good, grilled just right. The hash browns are fresh but unseasoned. However it is a good quality potato so it has flavor. The biscuits are too dense like Bisquick biscuits and the gravy lacks bacon fat, probably made with yesterdays sausages and then thicken with roux, also it had sage as seasoning which I didn't like. Overall I liked this place and would go back. I enjoyed the breakfast. I didn't like the biscuit and gravy. The service is friendly. I recommend this place. read more

We stopped here Saturday night for a couple of To-go meals and some shakes/malts. I tried calling multiple times to place our order but since no one ever answered the phone, we just drove up. The place was packed and there was no clear direction on where to go for service outside of the ice cream counter. I finally flagged someone down who took my order. After about 15 minutes, my buzzer went off and I went back inside. My food (2 meals) was ready but when I asked about my shakes (3 shakes and a malt) they said it would be just a couple of minutes. I took a seat and waited. The counter was empty and I continued to wait. About 10 minutes later, my desserts were ready. I asked one of the girls behind the counter (shorter dark haired girl with a nose stud who wasn't really wearing her mask) which cup was the malt and she rolled her eyes and said she didn't know there was a malt. After looking at the ticket and double checking the order, she began to ask the others around. At this point, another girl came over and asked what was going on. No one answered so I just said, I'm just trying to find out which one is the malt. The original girl just looked at me and said, very rudely, "Give me a minute". After asking around again, a gentleman looked at the cups and said "oh, that's the malt because it is lighter". Mistakenly, I left without actually checking. There was no malt. 4 dessert drinks and 2 entrees ended up with a $46 bill. The food was mediocre at best and I am still bitter that after all of the drama, my order wasn't even correct. If you visit this establishment, don't expect a whole lot because you won't be getting it. read more

The stayed at the Gonzo Inn across the street which was lovely, but due to COVID they were not doing their normal breakfast. They had 4 locations available that would offer us $6 off a piece for breakfast. We chose the Moab diner because they seemed to have the best selection of food choices. Their food was fantastic, service was friendly and quick, and even better, they offer a sack lunch option as well. We ordered these with our breakfast to take on the road with us. There was nothing special about this diner. I was surprised to see so many 4 and 5 star reviews when the food was okay. Service was fine and friendly! I don't care if it was cold because we got it to go, I don't care that it was done in a few minutes because I understand food prep, but I do care about flavor. They could have browned the sausage to improve the pre-made flavor and it wouldn't kill anyone to salt their food (although the sausage was fine salt wise). The whole thing was flat. This isn't a covid thing this is a cooking thing. I'm not saying anyone should be a world class chef but put some pride into your cooking. First of all I want to say that I have been eating at this cool Cafe for over 30 Years, It has always been a favorite place for us to have breakfast well we are staying in Moab, I was there with 5 others during the Thanksgiving Weekend, We were all 6 very disappointed with our Breakfast's, The wait was like from the time we were seated until we got our food was about 90 Minutes, The Waitresses told us several times how sorry she was that we had to wait so long. I think if the quality had been what it had been in the past we might not have been no where near as disappointed as we all were. Its really sad to see the place do such an bad job. read more

I am gluten free so no wheat for me. The green chilli sauce had flour in it. But as with most small towns, the waiter was willing to help me and asked the cook, but he didn't know that wheat was flour. I had to send back my meal for a omelette without the sauce, but they added plain green chilli which was appreciated.
