Super good Hawaiian diner! I ordered an ube & rum cocktail and it was so good. For food, we had a poke bowl and a pick-2 lunch platter with Korean chicken and pork. The Korean chicken was to die for! It was perfectly crunchy with an amazing sauce. For dessert, I tried the ube pie and everything was fresh and delicious. Our server was incredibly nice, and the prices were very reasonable. Definitely coming back. read more

ABSOLUTELY LOVE this diner!!!!! I will be returning numerous times. There was a line to be seated but bar is first come first serve so my boyfriend and I sat at the bar that the bartender was tending to. So there was no wait. The establishment is super cute and on the smaller size. It feels very open and bright. Midcentury modern/tropical diner flare. The bartender, Olivia gave us exceptional service. She gave us great recommendations and was a pleasant person to chat with. I will be coming back just to be served by her again. We ended up getting cocktails because they looked too good to pass up. First two were the Lilikoi Tini and the Lele Lychee. The Lilikoi Tini was a deliciously sour and bubbly concoction. The Lele Lychee was smoothly sweet and went down so nicely. And then we ordered the Koa&Kane which is their version of a tropical rum old fashioned. I am not a fan of old fashions but that had tropical fruit flavors punching through. We also got the Hō'āhi Rita. If you love a spicy margarita then I highly suggest plus you get the bonus of guava. For food, we ordered the pupu platter to get us an assortment of the starters. It included Gau Gee and Pork hash. Both super tasty. The chicken and beef skewers were deliciously seasoned and buttery. And OF COURSE we ordered the fried spam Musubi. Olivia said it will heal your soul.... Well it sure did. It was orgasmic. Do not skip the musubi. For the main dishes, we got the Kalbi ribs with garlic noodles instead of rice and the loco moco. All exceptional. I was especially addicted to the hawaiian mac which i devoured. The garlic noodles were sooooo tasty. The flavor of the ribs was fire. And i was not expecting this cute lil pieces of rib meat on the bone. I had imagined a whole rack. But it didn't disappoint. My boyfriend was in heaven with the loco moco especially because it included mushrooms. It was delectable. And of course, for dessert we got the malasadas! Guava and Lilikoi. We got the last ones. The guava was fire but the lilikoi flavor was lacking and tasted more sugary than fruity. I am a passion fruit/maracuya/lilikoi snob due to it being my favorite fruit. We literally finished everything and did not waste a drop. I will be returning in the near future. This IS AUTHENTIC hawaiian food which Orlando was lacking. So I am beyond thrilled to have this diner here. And also the prices are insanely good. And another plus is they have a decent sized parking lot. Mahalo Olivia and Moa Kai!!! read more

Heyyyyyyy you guyyyyys! Didn't know much about Hawaiian cuisine but was intrigued so let's goooooo- adult beverages lele lychee martini and Moa mule both were mixed by Vic and he was on point with the mixology. No HH currently drinks are $13-$15 range for specialty cocktails. Vic provided great convo, personality and recommendations. For food we opted for 2 appetizers. Diner setting, open seating, friendly staff, open kitchen concept. It was a delight thanks for the experience! Let's eat!! read more

My friend and I just ate here for the first time and it did not disappoint! Moa Kai is a tropical, chill, and cozy diner. Service was great and the food was even better. There's a good variety of foods from skewers and spam musubi to plate lunches and poke bowls. I ordered the fried spam musubi to start and then shoyu chicken and pork with white rice and garlic noodles--delicious and flavorful! There's A LOT more I wanted to try, so I guess I just have to come back very soon. *Colonial Drive is a busy road. The turn into the restaurant is very easy to miss. The diner is located in a small plaza. read more

The food was tasty and just the way it is supposed to be. We loved every bit of it! It reminded me of the ono food of the Hawaiian islands! Come on back for more good food- come on down if you haven't!!! The dining room was clean and the staff was friendly and polite. read more

Got the fried spam musubi to start... I have never been much of a musubi guy, but this one knocked my socks off. It was fresh, had a perfect crunch and was so delicious. Next: Plate Lunch. The Korean Chicken was BANGING. It had so much flavor with just the perfect amount of spice and sweetness. The fried fish was really good too and that sauce that was put on top took it to the next level. I had never had spam fried rice before but I'm tempted to go back and ask for the recipe because it was Devine. Mac Salad was pretty good too but I'm picky in that regard. Nonetheless, I still ate that up! I ordered the Ube Pie... (I ate it in like 3 bites and by the time I realized, I had forgotten to take picture.) That was very very tasty, especially if you like coconut. I was also a fan of the atmosphere. I've never been to a diner that has a full bar. I thought that was really cool. You could really go here for brunch, lunch, or dinner with cocktails. They offer a myriad of options. I will definitely be throwing this into my list of go-to places. read more

Wanted to give this place a try since there are not too many Hawaiian restaurants around plus they had malasadas. Super crowded so we sat at the counter. Service was on the slow side but we kind of expected that so Im sure they will figure that out. Ordered the pupu platter, the bao buns and the malasadas. Also ordered the musubi but it never arrived so we will have to go back again...oh well LOL... oh and by the way, they automatically add 3 % to your bill for kitchen appreciation .....whatever that is so you may want to tip accordingly. Anyway all the food was good. The malasadas were excellent. We got the lilikoi and haupai. It's kind of small inside and they have a little bar with some delicious sounding drinks. A good experience and we will be back to try some of the other dishes when its not so busy and hopefully by then they will have their service figured out. read more

Good food, friendly service. Parking is an issue and it can be hard to find a seat but overall a nice place to try.

The spirit of aloha hits you the moment you walk through the door at Moa Kai. Every single person working there was so kind, welcoming, and genuinely warm -- the service was fantastic! My husband and I visited Hawaii about a month ago, and the post-Hawaii blues have been real. We've been missing the food and the hospitality so much, and Moa Kai brought us right back. The food was incredible. We ordered the Spicy Ahi Poke, the fried Spam Musubi (honestly better than most of the ones we had in Hawaii!), and the two-meat mix plate with Shoyu Chicken and Kalua Pork. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and absolutely delicious. We didn't get cocktails this visit, but we saw a few being served and wow -- they looked amazing. And they even have fresh POG juice! Of course, we had to grab hot, fresh malasadas to go -- that's a no-brainer. We'll 100% be back and will definitely be bringing our friends and family. Orlando is truly lucky to have a little piece of authentic Hawaiian food and culture right here at home. read more

Maaaaan! Where to start!? I was SUPER excited to try this spot, I'd driven by it last week and was intrigued, then I started seeing TONS of Instagram (because you know you're phone listens to you obviously Hahaha) and my family likes to do Fun Food Fridays. So when today rolled around I had to give it a go.. but I was out voted and we wound up further down Volonial at a place that rhymes with propante and the service was terrible, the food was cold, and I insisted we leave. I'm SO GLAD I DID! Moa Kai is AMAZING!!! Seriously night and day compared to what I'd come from. The server (Ashley) was so attentive and smiling the whole time. Even though it was clearly busy no one was stressed and literally everyone was attentive and polite. I ordered the Fried Spam Masubi, and Char Sui Manapua for appetizers and they came out quick and hot and did NOT disappoint. The steamed buns were beyond divine, so soft and luscious, and the char sui was perfectly seasoned and tender. For our mains we ordered the Kalbi Ribs, Loco Moco, and a Mix Plate with Shoyu Chicken and Kalua Pork. I cannot possibly stress how perfect all of the food was. The Kalbi ribs were tender and perfectly seasoned, the prime beef patty on the loco mock and the gravy brought me right back to home cooked meals when I was a kid, a literal hug on a plate! The shoyu chicken and kalua pork were truly amazing. Dessert was the Ube Haupia Pie, now I'm no stranger to Ube being a massive lover of Filipino cuisine, but good lord this pie was perfect. My daughter is a picky eater but she devoured half the pie and that was only because I fought her for the other half! Hahaha While I love a good meal, I'm a cocktail aficionado and was most hype about trying out some of their customer cocktails. Let me tell you, there are some really good cocktail lounges in town, but there isn't a better Mai Tai around all of Orlando. It was perfectly tart and refreshing. Next up was the Lilikoi Tini which had a perfect blend of passion fruit and vanilla with just enough prosecco to add a delightful mouth feel! Lastly, the Koa and Kane seriously blew my mind with how great it was. It had the deep almost molasses flavor that comes from a dark rum and Demerara syrup, mixed with a fantastic tiki bitters Kola Nut flavor. Hands down my favorite cocktail of the night. Hats off to the entire crew for creating a spectacular menu and cocktail program. Speaking to the staff they made it clear that the entire setup is a family operation and they took inspiration and direction from everyone, which is super refreshing. I cannot possibly recommend Moa Kai enough, for the foodie and the cocktail lover alike, this is a cannot miss spot. I see phenomenal things in Moa Kai's future and I'm excited for my next visit. read more

Presentations and flavor were great! Downside was that it definitely is overpriced for what you get compared to other similar restaurants. We were pretty frustrated how long it took the wait staff to greet us for drinks after sitting. I also wish they had a sign at the front that says seat yourselves and someone will be with you because everyone I saw that came in was confused about that process. Every time the wait staff came over it took a while. I think they were trying to give the kitchen time since it just opened and they are trying to get the hang of things but we were sitting there almost 40 minutes before we got to order food. Once we ordered three other groups got the food way before us and they came in anywhere from 10-25 minutes after we did. Someone came in ate and left all by the time we ordered and received our food. The kitchen needs to really work on getting orders done as they come in. I had friends that went before us and told us they had the same issue. My #1 complaint was the shrimp. The flavor was phenomenal but I had no clue traditional Hawaiian garlic shrimp is deep fried with the shells and legs still attached. The batter, seasoning, and flavor is all on the outside of the shell. I tried removing the shell/legs and it was nearly impossible to and when I finally got it the shrimp had no flavor really since it was all on the outside. I asked the waitstaff and they told us that's how it's supposed to be and it's safe to eat. It was honestly super hard to chew and made my stomach a little upset. I really wish they would put on the menu that they are cooked with shells/legs on since it is not the norm, people are going to assume (as I have seen in other reviews) that the shells would be removed. I would get this again but I would hope I can ask them to deshell it first. I don't mind having the tails on but the whole thing is way too much. I really want to give this place another chance. I loved the flavors and the restaurant was nice. Hope they take these reviews/feedback seriously so it can be a better experience moving forward for guests. Pros: flavors were amazing and cute vibes Cons: kitchen/wait staff timing, logistics of sitting/host area, menu disclosures on certain dishes(shrimp), slightly overpriced read more

Cute atmosphere and prompt friendly service! We ordered the Ube cocktail, sweet and delicious! We had the pick 2 with chicken and pork and the spicy shrimp plate. Kalbi was over seasoned and undercooked pretty underwhelming overall, it was a very low quality cut of meat. Mac and cheese was super bland with no flavor. Wakame seaweed was very old or very low quality not refreshing like it should be. The booth was pretty comfy though. Great eats! This place has great potential! My favorite of what we tried was the Fried Spam Musubi! It was fried just right in a light batter and made with a good ratio of rice to spam and topped with the sauce that brings it all together. It was delicious!! If you need a little more kick, their hot mustard is a fantastic addition to every bite! If you don't like ramen became of how rich and heavy the broth can be, try the Saimin soup noodle! The soup is lighter and savory, not complex in its flavor profile, but much easier to down and enjoy. The light soup is complimented by the char siu and spam for just the right saltiness to balance it out. And as with the musubi, you can add the hot mustard or the chili and garlic vinegar (fyi the chili is VERY spicy ) for more of a punch. I do wish there's more veggies incorporated but it may not be a thing for this Hawaiian dish. The macaroni salad was delicious! Light and refreshing. I thought the smoked meat was okay but not enough smoked flavor and maybe it needed to be a more crispy. It tasted more like the char siu. I'm so happy this place opened and that my friend and I could visit. We had a lovely time. The interior is really so well throughout and beautiful, giving the vibe of a picturesque, tropical modern diner with hints of art deco. Super pretty! The design of the menu is cohesive and they don't overwhelm you with too many menu items. Our waitress was super friendly and sociable too. Can't wait to try other menu items! read more

Delicious food. Huge portion. (Easily could share one plate) Well Priced. Came out fast. Friendly staff, great food (the smoked meat is a favorite), nice ambiance for a casual spot, and good cocktails, too.

I tried several items since I lived in Hawaii for three years. I consider myself a conosuier of Hawaiian staples. I tried Loco Moco, fried Spam Musubi, Malasadas, Mac Salad and even the Kahlua Pork. OMGOSH!! FANTASTIC!!! I felt like I was back in Oahu!! The guys and gals do a great job as well as background music...all my favorite Hawaiian Island reggae. I was VERY well taken care of by the cooks and the wait staff! Thanked them personally on the way out...and the Hawaiian Diner experience was wonderful. Very neat and clean and took me back to my days in Hawaii. Mahalo!! I WILL be back and I'll bring my wife next time. I ordered malasadas for her as well as the Kahlua pork and Mac Salad. For local Hawaii people- this place is dabomb.com ! I moved to Florida from Kauai over a year ago and of course always on the lookout for legit local kine grindz. I will say walking into this place made me feel like I was home. Some items prepared a little different- but once you take a bite the flavors flash you right back home. I opened the menu and instantly started tearing because all you see is items you would find on the menu back in the islands. The pork hash- SO ONO!! Mix plate- every combo cannot go wrong! And the poke- out of all the poke I tried here in Florida this is DA ONE! Last week we found out bad news and I needed to get admitted to the hospital, so before we went in my husband brought me to Moa Kai for comfort food and I bawled the entire time. Rudy was super accommodating and kind! The playlist was fire. It was just what I needed to face the rough journey ahead. This place is special! Hawaiians, current & prior military formerly stationed in Hawaiian, and Hawaiian food lovers! You must visit Moa Kai Hawaiian Diner on East Colonial Driver near Bumby. I went there on a Friday night and was immediately greeted by the most upbeat staff I have ever met. The customer service is welcoming and friendly. Don't be afraid to come if you are unfamiliar with Hawaiian food as the staff has great recommendations. You will be able to choose from appetizers, saimin & noodles, plates, burgers & poboy, poke bowls, açaí & pitaya bowls, desserts, great juices, teas, coca-cola, lemonade, and amazing cocktails. The seating has benches, tables, and high top at the bar. All the dishes are reasonably priced and will not break the wallet. The kitchen is open to view the chefs from your seating area who also give a friendly nod, smile, and wave at customers. The food was flavor able and amazing with the finish product being there was nothing left on my plate. This was my first visit and I was so impressed that I brought my mother (who was visiting) and a neighbor the next day. They were both equally impressed and my neighbor made plans to bring her daughter there for her birthday. I've been here 2 times this week, which is a testament to how delicious the food is here! I love the Hawaiian decor. Its very 50s diner meets upscale Tikki Bar and they did it well! The dining area is kind of all the small side, so large parties may need to be split up. It will be tight if you are a party of 6, but they can make it work! Service was fantastic and all of our food came out in a timely manner. Our table had lots of appetizers. The stand out was the fish dip. It had a perfect smokiness to it that is often missed in other locations. If you like fish dip, don't pass on it here. The fried musubi was preferred over the regular musubi at our table. I think it was the spicy sauce. My brother had the loco moco and loved the comfort food feel of this dish. I had the fried tofu and opted for wakame instead of rice. The tofu was very good but I wish I would have just kept the rice! The Wakame was good, I just wanted to eat the sauce from the tofu with rice. On my second trip I had the garlic shrimp po boy and it was life changing good. The garlic butter sauce that they toss the shrimp in is fantastic. Other dishes that were had were the poke bowl (good), pork sandwich and pork over cabbage (both parties said the pork is amazing), and Teri burger without egg. This place is definitely worth a visit and a return visit. I am already thinking of the next dish I'd like to try. read more

Yum, yum, yum!!! I cannot recommend this place enough! My husband and I came here on a Saturday around 2pm and the place was packed! The ambiance is very cute with the palm tree wallpaper and leaf ceiling fans. We waited in the small waiting area for about 10 minutes and just like that our table was ready. For drinks we ordered the Lilikoi Tini and the Hoku Poni, both were delicious! The Lilikoi Tini was like a passionfruit martini while the Hoku Poni was a creamy ube and coconut cocktail. For food, my husband ordered the Teri burger with fries and I ordered the mix plate with kalua bbq pork and Korean chicken. The mix plate comes with white rice and Mac salad, but I substituted the rice for kimchi. We also ordered a side of the stir fried garlic noodles. All of the food was absolutely delicious! The stars of the show were the kalua pork, Korean chicken, Mac salad, and garlic noodles! The flavor was exceptional! It reminded me of Rainbow Drive In in Hawaii! For dessert, the Ube Haupia pie did not disappoint! The dish was light enough for us to enjoy after our heavy meals, and the flavor and texture were delicious!
