I love Hawaiian cuisine, and this place was spot on from the spam musubi to the kalua pork! The staff were incredibly nice, and since it's a diner service was incredibly quick. It was super packed when we came in for dinner on a Friday night, but the bar area had all open seating so we sat there. We started off with our cocktails and some spam musubi. The regular spam musubi is delicious, but the fried spam musubi is out of this world! The Hō'āhi Rita was deliciously spicy and perfect for my fiancé's taste. The Koa & Kane was a very spirit forward rum drink that was right up my alley! I honestly would try every cocktail if I could. Another beverage I got was the POG juice with vodka added for $12. It was dangerously good. My fiancé and I both order a Mix Plate with varying options (pick 2 proteins and 2 sides). Collectively, we tried the kalua pork, shoyu chicken, shoyu ahi, and spicy ahi proteins with mac salad and spam fried rice. The spam fried rice and the shoyu chicken was our fav combo! The chicken was so soft and deliciously marinated. The ahi tuna tasted like any other ahi tuna you would get at any nearby poke spot, but the chicken and pork were out fantastic! I would have the kalua pork in their sandwich next time instead of as a protein in their mix plate. I absolutely do want to come back here! Hawaiian diner was nicely done and front staff were friendly. Korean Chicken was delicious and garlic shrimp was good, but the Shoyu chicken was dry. We also got the thick beef ribs, which were not to our liking but appeared to be cooked well. I missed that that these were beef ribs, not pork. The Kailua pork and cabbage was moist and seasoned just right. The sides of rice and mac salad were good and plentiful. I would go back for the Korean chicken and Mac Salad, but that's about it. Well, I could be talked into more of the Kailua pork and cabbage too, it's hard to make at home. I paid the required 3% surcharge for the back of kitchen and my adddd my standard 20% tip, because the total was still reasonable. But I would have maybe cut back the tip to 15-17% if it had been more costly of a meal. If this becomes a restaurant trend, I will do this for sure. read more

Expect to walk into a packed restaurant, but I implore you to wait for a table or grab a seat at the bar because the food is hands down excellent! From the pictures alone, I knew it would be good, but my expectations were blown! The flavor and portions are max! The servers were present and friendly and helped us navigate some of our options. We shared a smoked meat plate as an appetizer and that was actually the highlight. My favorite dish! But I will say they do charge a "restaurant appreciation tip" that they don't really mention unless you're paying attention to your itemized bill (we even asked our server about it and she said they didn't charge any tip prior to us paying). It's fine to charge these things but I would rather you be transparent about it. We finally made it to Moa Kai and were thrilled that it lived up to the hype! It's definitely busy so it can get a little loud but the service is super quick and servers are very helpful. The garlic shrimp is very good but my only feedback is that it could use a little extra sauce. I did ask for extra that we were charged for when the bill arrived. I stopped here for lunch during the work week and it was relatively busy but not to the point where we didn't get seated immediately. I ordered the grilled chicken and the fried fish with a side of mac salad and kimchi. First of all, I was shocked at the portion size especially for a lunch special. Secondly, that grilled chicken was so good I almost wondered if I should've doubled up. It was juicy and I felt like I could taste each grill mark. The fried fish was crunchy on the outside and flaky in the inside. Flavor was perfect and was a nice contrast to the chicken. As a cherry on top, or in this case kimchi, the kimchi was a nice break from the savory entrees. The mac salad was the most disappointing item here. The food here was giving mall food court food unfortunately :( In this visit, I ordered the Mix Plate (Pick 2) which came with the following dishes: - Shoyu Chicken: Dry and similar quality to the Terriyaki chicken at a Japanese food stall in a food court. - Spicy Ahi: Poke didn't feel and taste fresh. Also, the pieces weren't cut properly! There was a thin film of fish still holding the pieces together. - Garlic Noodles: Was also giving something you can find at a mall food court. This time I tried the you pick two and got the spicy tuna and the grilled chicken. The tangy slightly char flavor was incredible . You get hints of sweet pineapple , soy and some spice. Well, it our second time visiting this authentic hawaiian restaurant. This time my husband amd I brought my father in law who has never been here before. We got there right at opening on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy, thankfully. They have a lot of Hawaiian classics here from musubis to their classic plates. I ordered the garlic shrimp (of course) and my partner ordered a mixed plate with the kalua pork and shoyu chicken. We also go the fried musubi because we were curious. The fried musubi was good but definitely on the heavier side with a generous serving of the sauce poured on top. Not sure if I'd get it again just because it was so heavy but good nonetheless. I really enjoyed the garlic shrimp. It's not my favorite out of all the Hawaiian spots in Orlando but pretty solid. For starters, the staff is always very friendly and even when we had an item come out incorrect, they were more than happy to fix it and make it right. Went to check out Moa Kai for dinner and see what the buzz was all about! We went on a Friday so it was definitely jam packed but there was plenty of parking. They had a waitlist for those wanting a table but also had first come first served on the bar areas. We opted to sit at the bar so we can eat quickly instead of waiting. It was a little bit confusing as waiters were going around taking orders and we didn't get our waters until 10 minutes after. Another waiter approached us to get our actual orders. We opted for their appetizer tray that has their various appetizers (fried wontons, grilled chicken skewer, and dumplings). My partner got the moco loco plate and I got the mixed platter with poke and grill chicken. We all shared their POG juice (as must try for sure!) Flavors of the food were fantastic and good portion sizes. I definitely had enough leftovers to have lunch the following day! I can't vouch for if this cuts close to authentic Hawaiian flavors in the islands but it definitely took me there! Only wish was that the waiters would communicate and also write down the orders as we ended up with duplicates for some items or wrong items but it was quickly rectified. Our server brought out our food right away. So thumbs up to the back and front of the house for the quick service. The rice was cooked to the softness of my choice, mac salad tasted similar to what I'm used to, Korean friend chicken had a crispy batter and tender meat, spicy ahi was more salty and not really spicy but still satisfying. Nicer casual ambiance towards the bar area. Overall good experience. Fyi there is a kitchen appreciation fee which I think was fair since our orders came out within a few minutes and to our standard. Price was reasonable so I hope people still tip accordingly. read more

Was pretty acceptable. Space was clean with simple interior including vibing music and comforting yet spaced out seating. Drinks were quite simple with no major "out of the ordinary" aspect. We stopped in for lunch at Moa Kai last weekend. It's in the old Mongolorian spot and they did a great job with maximizing seating in a small space. We were seated in a booth and the sun was blaring in. The windows are tinted but it was still pretty warm in those seats with the sun hitting us. They might need to get some shades or something so guests aren't baking while they eat. Service was great, everyone was super friendly and attentive. Everyone was chipping in to help eachother, we interacted with probably 5 or 6 different staff members during our meal. We ordered the Lychee Lemonade, it was refreshing! Sweet but not too sweet! I got the two plate with the kalua pork and the Shoyu Chicken. My SO got the same plate but with Kalua Pork and Korean Chicken with upgraded sides; petal fries and garlic noodles. The plates without upgrades were $16 which was a great price for the portion we got. We both had leftovers, enough for a full meal the next day. Everything was delicious but the star of the show was the crispy Korean Chicken, it was SO good. I was a little jealous of my fiancees plate bc I wanted more! He got the petal fries, we weren't sure what they were but it turned out they were just regular french fries. We shared the ube pie slice, it was light and just the right finishing touch for our meal! We were very happy with our experience, the price, service and the food were all top notch! Food was good. Service was good. Nothing spectacular as just as good of food comes from scrappy looking food trucks. No complaints just not memorable. No need for it to be a full service restaurant would be much better off as a "fast" casual or a bit less fancy feel. Ordered two two-meat plates. Kalua pork was good. Poke was small but fish was delicate in the best of ways. Fried chicken was better than expected but nothing to come back for. Shoyu chicken was what to expect Spam fried rice is worth the up charge. When I tell you I literally yelped out loud when I heard what was taking the place of the Monolorian (RIP), I am not kidding! We love Hawaiian food and often have a difficult time finding it around Central Florida. So this Orlando native ran here as soon as they opened and we were very impressed! It's important to remember that this is a diner; its comfort food at its best. It was completely packed when we got there, and waited about 15 minutes for a spot to open up at the bar. Once we were seated our server and bartender took excellent car of us. I ordered the Kalua Pork & Cabbage, which has slow cooked pork with Hawalian salt wrapped in banana leaves, on top of steamed cabbage. Instead of the default side of 2 scoops of white rice and mac salad, I opted for the spam fried rice (YES), and Edamame. My husband ordered the Kalua BBQ Pork...which was a Toasted brioche, kalua pork, pickled red onions, topped with housemade guava bbq sauce. WOW. We couldn't gobble this up fast enough. (insert several crying emojis.) For dessert we opted for something we haven't had before: Ube Haupia Pie...which was Layered ube & haupia filling in a macadamia nut crust.
