Visited for brunch and loved the lunch plate! The mac salad was a standout for me, along with the kalua pork and KFC. The ube espresso martini was a great pick-me-up. The staff were attentive, friendly, and helpful. An Orlando gem if you're in the area!
Another fantastic experience at Moa Kai! We came in for a work lunch and had a wonderful experience! The restaurant is beautiful. I love how the music sets the vibe but isn't too loud. The menu is fantastic. I got the garlic shrimp with rice and fries. The shrimp were so hot and fresh. They were perfectly fried! The garlic sauce was so rich and flavorful. We enjoyed the smoked meat platter, kalua pork, musubi, and chicken as well. We also loved the haupia pie and lychee lemonade. Service was attentive and kind. All the food came out so fast. This is the best spot!
This is definitely the best Hawaiian food around! Went for our first time today & we absolutely loved it. The staff were wonderful & friendly, they were great to chat with & have great recommendations. The space was warm & cozy, but the food & drinks were definitely the highlights. Everything we had was a 10/10 & we cannot wait to go again.

Service was great but they don't disclose the automatic 3% "kitchen appreciation" surcharge to your meal. That's new. Felt like we were cheated. Also $3 for extra gravy was an extreme up-charge given it already comes with the meal. Food was delicious but the hidden charge was malicious.
I love Hawaiian cuisine, and this place was spot on from the spam musubi to the kalua pork! The staff were incredibly nice, and since it's a diner service was incredibly quick. It was super packed when we came in for dinner on a Friday night, but the bar area had all open seating so we sat there. We started off with our cocktails and some spam musubi. The regular spam musubi is delicious, but the fried spam musubi is out of this world! The Hō'āhi Rita was deliciously spicy and perfect for my fiancé's taste. The Koa & Kane was a very spirit forward rum drink that was right up my alley! I honestly would try every cocktail if I could. Another beverage I got was the POG juice with vodka added for $12. It was dangerously good. My fiancé and I both order a Mix Plate with varying options (pick 2 proteins and 2 sides). Collectively, we tried the kalua pork, shoyu chicken, shoyu ahi, and spicy ahi proteins with mac salad and spam fried rice. The spam fried rice and the shoyu chicken was our fav combo! The chicken was so soft and deliciously marinated. The ahi tuna tasted like any other ahi tuna you would get at any nearby poke spot, but the chicken and pork were out fantastic! I would have the kalua pork in their sandwich next time instead of as a protein in their mix plate. I absolutely do want to come back here! They have brunch on Sundays, but this menu has a couple all day breakfast items so you could really have brunch whenever. There is no happy hour here (yet) unfortunately.
Went to Moa Kai while visiting Orlando for the weekend and it was absolutely amazing! The food was so flavorful and we tried a ton of things on the menu, everything was surprisingly delicious. The ambiance is so fun and makes you feel like you are in the tropics and the wait staff and managers were all great. You can tell that they care about attention to detail in everything they do. Absolutely wonderful!
Moa Kai Diner is such a gem! My friend and I had heard so much about this place and we absolutely loved it! The inside is a diner feel with the Hawaiian touch. The service was so nice and helpful for it being our first time there. We both got the POG juice which was so fresh. We also got the mixed plates I got the pork and shoyu chicken and she got the pork and Korean chicken. Everything was incredible the pork was flavorful and the chicken was tender and delightful. We cannot wait to come back and try more!
Expect to walk into a packed restaurant, but I implore you to wait for a table or grab a seat at the bar because the food is hands down excellent! From the pictures alone, I knew it would be good, but my expectations were blown! The flavor and portions are max! We did decide to sit up the bar because we were really hungry and the place was definitely packed and remained so well beyond lunchtime. The servers were present and friendly and helped us navigate some of our options. We shared a smoked meat plate as an appetizer and that was actually the highlight. My favorite dish! So much so, that I would most likely make that my entree next time. For entrees we ordered shoyu chicken and kalbi ribs. Both were solid. The ribs especially. I loved whatever marinade mixture they soaked in. A nice touch of sweetness! And the Mac salad was creamy and delicious. The portion blew me away! One plate is generous enough for sharing! An absolute must visit and dare I say, a hidden gem of the Orlando food scene. Very unique too because there aren't an abundance of Hawaiian BBQs around. The interior definitely had a fun diner meets Hawaii vibe. Adding this to my regular rotation and list of spots to bring out of town guests!
I really love Moa Kai, and I still come here pretty regularly. But I will say they do charge a "restaurant appreciation tip" that they don't really mention unless you're paying attention to your itemized bill (we even asked our server about it and she said they didn't charge any tip prior to us paying). It's fine to charge these things but I would rather you be transparent about it. The last few times we've been here we've had the same server, she's not the friendliest or most attentive but I guess we're here for the food and drinks.
We finally made it to Moa Kai and were thrilled that it lived up to the hype! It's definitely busy so it can get a little loud but the service is super quick and servers are very helpful. The garlic shrimp is very good but my only feedback is that it could use a little extra sauce. I did ask for extra that we were charged for when the bill arrived. Noodles are also excellent - highly recommend as a side! Fair warning that portions are on the larger side, which is awesome. Highly recommend the ube cocktail, which they can also make as a mocktail that's delicious!
Food 4/5 Service 4/5 Ambiance 5/5 The food here was okay. We ordered the loco moco and Hawaiian breakfast but they both tasted bland and lacked flavor. The portions were big and you get your money's worth, but the gravy on the loco moco was just for texture and the Hawaiian breakfast needed some type of sauce. The best part was the mac salad that came on the side! The food was reminiscent of Hawaiian fast food joints like L&L, Maui, and Ono Hawaiian BBQ. Service was okay too, the servers were attentive but in a way that felt rushed. It's a small restaurant and there was a line at lunchtime so they were trying to burn and churn customers out of there. The ambiance is superb, loved the color and decor of the diner and it truly transports you to the Hawaiian tropics. Not sure we'll be back though, but it was nice to try once given all the positive reviews.
Wow, what a diverse menu and relaxing environment to enjoy a good meal. It's very family friendly and you are greeted with a smile when you walk in! The poke bowl was really good and the shrimp and the perfect crisp. Portions are solid. I would definitely come back.

Moa Kai on Colonial Drive is the real deal and I got lucky squeezing in on a rainy Saturday afternoon because this place is usually so busy. Every time I have driven past there is always a wait. I went with the shoyu chicken which was delicious and came with a generous amount of protein. The macaroni salad on the side was the perfect complement. My fiancé went with the Korean chicken and the fried fish. The Korean chicken was so good and packed a nice heat and the fried fish was perfectly flaky and crunchy. The fresh juices were also yum! The passion fruit juice and the lychee lemonade were absolutely amazing and such a great value for everything you get. The space itself is so cute too, it has this chic vintage Hawaiian diner energy! Ordered the soup to go, barely got any broth. IMO the to go order should have broth in a separate container from the noodles. They stuffed it all into one container therefore there was no space for sufficient broth. read more

3- Parking/Entrance/1st visit service/bathroom 5-THE FOOD!!! The food is phenomenal and it's really designed well for a diner. The parking can be ATROCIOUS. Holy Hunger Games. The bathroom location bothers me and its cleanliness needs attending to on a regular basis. My sit down experience was just ok. It can get crowded by the door and my server wasn't that attentive. It took a while to even put my order in. I'm talking 10 minutes before my server even came to my table to order drinks. The food comes pretty fast and everything I've tried has been packed with flavor. That is the saving grace that has me coming back. I typically do take out due to my initial dine in experience. We arrived about an hour before closing at 3 pm and they'd run out of pancakes and rice and a few other dishes, but that didn't kill our vibe bruh! I ordered the Garlic Shrimp Po' Boy which came with a big beautiful portion of twice fried fries. You can opt in for spicy or non-spicy shrimp and I chose spicy. It had some heat on the back end of the bite, but truly only melted in my mouth. Shrimp portion was perfectly sized to the soft bread and lettuce and tomato gave it a cooling crunch. I tried my husband's Mac salad - which was good - but his side of Garlic Fried Noodles...OMG I could just eat those as a meal. We ordered a shareable dish which was the King's Hawaiian bread French toast. Dusted in cinnamon-sugar and dripping with lilikoi syrup - where have these been all my life? Washed it down with a cup of Kona coffee. Next time I really want to try the ube pancakes but the server suggested coming earlier in the morning on weekends or coming to dinner during the week for their full dinner menu. Best Hawaiian place in Orlando and Tampa hands down. Food was AMAZING. Ahi poke 5/5 Had to get a second order because it was so good. Kalua pork 5/5 Seasoned perfectly! Mac Salad/ 4/5 Could have been a tiny bit sweeter for me but it was great! Korean chicken 5/5 No complaints! Perfect little spicy and super crunchy! Malasada 5/5 Made to order with a guava filling. YES PLEASE the place is big on the inside and clean. The employees were so sweet and gave us great service. Ambiance was everything! The music was awesome! It felt homey hearing all the artists I grew up with while eating some authentic Hawaiian food. I'll be back for sure! read more

I was excited to try Moa Kai, especially because the interior is so cute! There are palm leaf decorations everywhere, but somehow they managed to make it feel chic instead of overly tropical. It has a really fun, laid-back vibe. It is definitely on the pricier side for what it is but not the worst I have seen, but I think that's somewhat expected for the area near Mills Ave and Colonial. It feels like everything in this area is trendy and expensive. This spot also replaced the old Mongolorian restaurant that used to be here, for anyone who remembers what was there before. The parking lot is tiny, but honestly, it wasn't a huge issue when I went. Just something to keep in mind if it's busy. For food, we tried the fried Spam musubi, which was an 8.5/10 for me. I've never had a fried Spam musubi before, and while it's definitely not the healthiest thing for the body, it was good for the soul. The crispy exterior just made it so satisfying. I also tried the ube espresso martini, which was nice and definitely fun to try. For my taste, though, it was very vodka-forward, so I would have preferred a little more of the coffee/ube flavors to balance it out. The Spam and egg Hawaiian breakfast plate was probably my favorite. I really liked the combination and thought it was a solid breakfast, although I do wish the Spam had been fried a little longer to get it crispier. I'm team crispy Spam all the way! Overall, I really liked the atmosphere and thought the food was good. It's a cute spot if you're looking for Hawaiian comfort food with a slightly more elevated/chic diner feel. We don't have too too many of those on this side of Orlando. I'd definitely come back to try some of the other dishes! read more
I stopped here for lunch during the work week and it was relatively busy but not to the point where we didn't get seated immediately. I ordered the grilled chicken and the fried fish with a side of mac salad and kimchi. First of all, I was shocked at the portion size especially for a lunch special. Secondly, that grilled chicken was so good I almost wondered if I should've doubled up. It was juicy and I felt like I could taste each grill mark. The fried fish was crunchy on the outside and flaky in the inside. Flavor was perfect and was a nice contrast to the chicken. As a cherry on top, or in this case kimchi, the kimchi was a nice break from the savory entrees. The mac salad was the most disappointing item here. The elbow pasta was not cooked long enough and the taste was bland. Despite that, I still quite enjoyed my meal and left feeling satisfied. The ambiance is a blend between a sit down high-dive bar with a fast casual vibe. There were plenty of natural lighting which I love. Moa Kai is definitely a place to try if you enjoy good Hawaiian food! read more

I heard a lot of good things about Moa Kai and was super excited to try and it did not disappoint. The Crispy Korean fried chicken with a sauce that's lightly spicy and sweet so good, and the crunch held up perfectly. The lychee lemonade was addicting I drank back to back. The lemonade was wonderfully sweet and incredibly refreshing the perfect balance of sweet and tart. Really hit the spot. The ambiance was really cute and really hit the Hawaiian theme spot. read more
Moa Kai, i love you so freaking much. My husband and I were recently married in Maui, Hawaii and have been itching for the food there since we've come back. The only place we've found in Orlando that even comes CLOSE to those aloha vibes is this place. From their Mai Tai & Lele Lychee cocktails, to their smoked meat, mac salad, and Spam Musubi, everything is so close to the real thing. The service is very fast, we've never waited longer than 15 mins to be seated and the staff is very kind and attentive. Thank you for being so incredible, Moa Kai! I love ya! read more

The food here was giving mall food court food unfortunately :( In this visit, I ordered the Mix Plate (Pick 2) which came with the following dishes: - Shoyu Chicken: Dry and similar quality to the Terriyaki chicken at a Japanese food stall in a food court. - Spicy Ahi: Poke didn't feel and taste fresh. Also, the pieces weren't cut properly! There was a thin film of fish still holding the pieces together. - Garlic Noodles: Was also giving something you can find at a mall food court. Wasn't worth the upgrade. - Macaroni Salad: The pasta was not fully cooked and not in a good al dente way. A bit gritty. I also tried a piece of my friend's fried fish and it was okay, but also not restaurant quality. The prices relative to the quality of the food aren't justified in my opinion. Regardless of the food quality, the service was solid and attentive. The interior is also nicely decorated. They even have free parking at the restaurant. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back here again nor recommend to others. read more

Fantastic hawaiian dinner! Have a great experience from the start to finish, this place have the aloha atmosphere, love that vibe. Great customer service staff is so friendly and attentive. Food and cocktails are so delicious, served with generous portions. For appetizer we order their popular fried spam musubi and char siu manapua a steamed buns filled with slow cooked char siu. For entries we got the garlic shrimp with noodles and mac salad and the mix plate pick two with fish and korean chicken and kalua pork withbkorean chicken everything is so tasty mouthwatering. For cocktails we got their popular hoku poni and lele lychee. My favorite was the hoku poni. We cannt go without trying their popular ube haupia pie, soo delicious. This is a must spot if you are in Orlando. read more
Moa Kai Hawaiian Diner is a great spot for the aloha spirit in Orlando. We finally got to try this place out during a recent trip. We got there right at opening on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy, thankfully. We were greeted right away and, even though we were right next to East Colonial by the road, we felt like we were transported to Hawaii. From the friendly greeting to the casual setting, we felt the warmth even before ordering our food! We were seated right away and took a look at the menu. They have a lot of Hawaiian classics here from musubis to their classic plates. I ordered the garlic shrimp (of course) and my partner ordered a mixed plate with the kalua pork and shoyu chicken. We also go the fried musubi because we were curious. The fried musubi was good but definitely on the heavier side with a generous serving of the sauce poured on top. Not sure if I'd get it again just because it was so heavy but good nonetheless. I really enjoyed the garlic shrimp. It's not my favorite out of all the Hawaiian spots in Orlando but pretty solid. My boyfriend liked his mixed plate. The services for each dish was super generous where we ended up taking our dishes to go and they were delicious even after reheating them later that day. I really love the diner feel in here and the friendliness that the staff emits. Overall a great spot for some Hawaiian comfort food in Orlando! read more
Really friendly service! Huge portions and fun atmosphere . This is my second time going to Mos Kai for lunch and it didn't dissapoint. This time I tried the you pick two and got the spicy tuna and the grilled chicken. The tangy slightly char flavor was incredible . You get hints of sweet pineapple , soy and some spice. The ahi tuna poke was very fresh and a nice sauce on top of the tuna. I got the seaweed salad as a side and it was really good. Last time we went we tried rhe banana bread dessert and it was incredible. Prices can be a little high but the portions are huge and the food is really fresh. read more
Ordered the pick two: Korean chicken and Kalua pork with spam fried rice, Mac salad, and garlic fired noodles. Very delicious and surprisingly very filling for two. Waitress was very attentive and service was great. Parking can be a little tight if there is a yoga class going on but other than that, plenty of seating and very bright and good ambiance. Well, it our second time visiting this authentic hawaiian restaurant. This time my husband amd I brought my father in law who has never been here before. Excited to share the experience we had here with my father in law we ordered. As we waited for our food ee spoke to him about how great the food here is. The owners are super nice and friendly. They are very easy to talk to and you can tell they enjoy conversating with their customers. I really like that the owners enjoy getting to know their customers. That makes such a difference and makes us want to come back. That to me is a plus. Not only the food is great but the owners are ready ro mingle. Can't wait to go back. Moa Kai Hawaiian Diner - A Friendly Spot with Room to Grow I believe Moa Kai is one of the newer Hawaiian-inspired diner concepts here in Orlando, and I was really excited to give it a try. Overall, the experience was just OK for me -- not bad, but not quite what I expected flavor-wise, especially compared to some of the Hawaiian and Japanese spots I've visited before. We ordered a variety of dishes to share. The mixed plate platter was decent, but I personally felt like it was missing some richness and depth of flavor. I've definitely had better spam musubi elsewhere -- and especially in Japan and Hawaii -- so my expectations may have been a little high going in. That said, not everything was a miss. My brother really enjoyed the Korean chicken, and my brother-in-law loved the burger, especially the one topped with pineapple, which added a fun island twist. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made the dining experience more enjoyable and relaxed. Overall, it's a casual, friendly spot worth trying if you're curious about Hawaiian-inspired comfort food. While the flavors didn't fully wow me this time, the warm service and laid-back vibe make it a nice place to hang out with family and friends. read more

The macaroni chicken was honestly to die for, super flavorful, comforting, and so good that we took some home. The Korean chicken was also really good with great flavor and a nice texture. The fried noodles were tasty too, and the rice was unique with little Spam chunks in it, which gave it that Hawaiian-style twist. The restaurant has a fun Hawaiian vibe, and I liked that they have a bar. It's definitely a cute spot for a casual family meal. The staff was also friendly, which always makes the experience better. My only real issue is that it is a bit on the pricey side. The fish dip was $14 and served with Club crackers, which didn't feel worth it for the price. I also thought the drinks were a little overpriced for what they were. Cleanliness could be improved a bit in the dining area, but the bathroom was nice. *Rating: 2 1/2 but rounded up to 3 Moa Kai Diner is a cute little spot and the latest restaurant to take over one that didn't do well. I was so excited to find a Hawaiian style diner since I have fond memories of eating in Hawaii. I had high expectations and frankly, it was rather lackluster. The server was nice and food came out at a reasonable timeframe. The portions were decent but the presentation was a bit underwhelming. It reminded me of hot mess on a plate. I ordered Spam Musubi which was pretty good. The Loco Moco consisted of a hamburger patty with a fried egg over it. There was mushrooms, onions and gravy poured over white rice. Also a mac salad was the side item. The entree tasted mediocre even though it was rich but lightly seasoned. The beef patty was just okay. I liked the gravy over rice which gave the entree some flavor. I did enjoy the creaminess of the mac salad the most. The Ube Pancakes were big and kind of fluffy with a scoop of whipped cream. I was disappointed that it was so sweet. I'm sure someone with a sweet tooth would enjoy it. I had high hopes for it because I love anything ube. My niece had a breakfast plate that consisted of spam slices, fried eggs, white rice and mac salad. It was as simple as the taste. I ordered a nonalcoholic lemonade drink which was also unmemorable. I'm not sure if I went on an off day, but I'm willing to give this place another chance. Maybe order something different next time. I love small local eateries, so although my experience wasn't the best, I don't discourage anyone from supporting them. It's still fairly new to Orlando and has time to improve. I can see the charm and potential of the place. It's great for a quick meal with friends or an informal date. While I was there around brunch time, the diner started to pick up. Really missed that Hawaiian diner food that I thought you can only really get in Hawaii. But man this was so close it hit that craving spot I needed. Service was great the place was busy and everyone loved their dishes. Why would I give them 5 stars then... the "I'll come back" factor was high for me, I look forward to my next visit again and wish them great success. I would love to see them make a fridge case full of different kinds of Poke that includes different flavors of tuna poke and tako poke! read more
I've never had Hawaiian food before and was very eager to try some down home, diner style cooking. First, I was greeted right away by a very cheerful person. I let her know it was my first time and she took care of me like an all star. Wonderful service! The dining room is a box with tables and a diner counter that overlooks the cooks. Might be weird staring at the cooks as they prepare the meal! But it's a nice setup. I went with the pick 2 plus 2 sides. Fried fish, Korean spicy chicken, mac salad, and upgraded to spam fried rice. The portion was HUGE. And for under $20? A steal. Seriously, they could have given half the food and it would have been a good value. Everything was perfect. Fish was crunchy, tender, and slightly sweet. And the sauce was killer. Korean chicken was good too. Spam fried rice was to die for. Wow. I'll take it over pork fried rice any day. Finally the mac salad was creamy and delicious. I'll take that at any picnic ever. Outstanding meal. Outstanding service. Great price. And right near Mills 50 so the traffic is...challenging! My husband and I stopped by for dinner on a Saturday night. Most tables were full but we were able to snag a small table that seats 2 with no wait. Several parties came after us and had to wait, though most of the parties were 3-4 people. My husband and I ordered Mai Tais which were delicious and a little strong. We each ordered spam masubi to start which arrived quickly. Nice size portion. So simple but so tasty. For the main course, my husband got the salmon poke bowl. I tried a couple bites and enjoyed it. I got the garlic shrimp. Sides included rice and mac salad. It was a lot of food. We both really enjoyed our meals. The service was good. We didn't have to wait long. Eating here brought back some good memories of vacations to Hawaii. I will definitely be back! Mahalo Mia Kai for an excellent meal! read more

My husband and I had been seeing multiple stellar Yelp reviews for Moa Kai, so when we were in Orlando and looking for a place to have brunch, choosing Mai Kai was a no brainer. I loved the kitschy Hawaiian decor that was interwoven throughout the typical diner set up! Lots of color and mini hula dancing dashboard ornament on each table. Our server was friendly and remained pleasant and attentive as the restaurant filled to capacity by noon. There were so many tasty options on the menu , so we opted to start out with the pu pu platter appetizer so that we could try a little bit of some of their dishes. My husband ate most of it (as I only really eat chicken as far as meat goes) and loved everything he tried. I ate the chicken skewer and really liked the sauce that was used. For our entrees, I ordered the garlic noodles (which came with chicken) and my husband ordered the beef ribs with a side of rice and a chicken skewer. The portions were generous and we both couldn't finish our meal, but both dishes were delicious! We will definitely come back! read more

What a great restaurant! I saw this restaurant mentioned several times on social media and so glad I gave it a try. My coworkers and I met here for lunch on a weekday. The restaurant offers a cute and quaint vibe. The diner atmosphere is apparent with a nice modern touch to it. The service was great! Everyone was very attentive and helpful when going over the menu. I ordered the lunch mix plate where you choose 2 meats. I chose the Korean chicken and the kalua pork. The plate also came with white rice and Mac salad. It was alot of food for $16! I really enjoyed everything. The Korean chicken was out of this world good. The pork was juicy and flavorful. The rice was seasoned well and the Mac salad was yummy and added a nice chilled element. While visiting I tried the fried spam musubi appetizer. It was pleasantly great. I like the saltiness level to it. I cannot wait to come back and try more from the menu! read more
