We recently added on a room to our house & remodeled pretty much every room in our house during the process. This was a huge undertaking for us. We hired MJ Remodel to take on this project and they did not disappoint. I could not have been more happy with the results. Ricardo, the owner of MJ Remodel, is amazing. His crew is equally amazing. Their work is top notch. Ricardo was so accommodating to our wishes and needs and really listened. He not just improved our home, but with the much needed changes to our home he helped to improved the quality of our lives as well. I'm in a wheelchair and needed a bathroom I could function better in. So they installed a gorgeous roll in shower and Ricardo personally oversaw the design, and construction of a vanity in my bathroom that I could use while in my wheelchair that not just functioned but was beautiful too. Completely fits my needs and I could not have asked for anything better. MJ remodel also opened up a room for us to make it a more open concept, added a sliding glass door and a picture window, added a built-in bookshelf and storage area with seating, painted the entire inside and outside of the house, put on a new roof, added concrete to make going in to my home more wheelchair accessible. They also handled all of the city permits and handled all the frustration and delays that came with that, they completely remodeled both bathrooms and our home in addition to adding on a room addition with a complete new bathroom and roll in shower for my mother who uses a walker. Her new room is absolutely beautiful, with high and vanity and tile. They replaced the electrical panel on our home as well, and the electrician did a very professional job. Every one of Ricardo's guys are very professional, kind and courteous men. We have thoroughly enjoyed having them work on our home. If there was ever an issue or something that was done we had questions about, they addressed it quickly and took care of anything that we asked. I feel Ricardo and his guys went above and beyond to make our home beautiful and accessible and functional. If we ever need any kind of home-improvement/construction on our home in the future, I would not even hesitate to call Ricardo at MJ remodel and hire them. Liz took notes/measurements at the Appt for the Estimate to do the job of 2 bathroom remodel's and I never heard from Liz or anyone else from MJ Remodel again. We first came across MJ remodels when my in-laws neighbor renovated their huge Victorian house by Ricardo and his crew. They did such a beautiful job, we decided to give them a call. Mario came out to do the measurements and talk about what our vision was then gave the dimensions to Ricardo (the owner) to draw up a plan. When we first met Ricardo he greeted us with a smile and a firm hand shake. Then got to business! He came up with a layout of our kitchen that no other contractor did. Solved so many space issues and made the overall kitchen so much more functional than we ever thought possible. As well as our master bath. When we started talking about the master bath. Ricardo came up with plan that I was sure was going to make the bathroom look too small. But turns out I was completely WRONG. Our new master bath is seriously a show room piece. When looking to remodel our small 1996-built kitchen, we received quotes from three contractors. We chose MJ Remodel not only because they were the best price, but also because Ricardo has an unparalleled talent for taking an existing space and maximizing its potential. In our case, we wanted to open our kitchen up but couldn't grasp the logistics of where we would move the fridge. In short: we lacked imagination. Ricardo came in and instantly said we could put our fridge in the space that our laundry room was and moving the washer and dryer into the garage. He said we could knock down a wall and put an island/bar. He even said he could build us a walk-in pantry! My wife and I lack the ability to visualize the way Ricardo naturally does, so we were both hesitant and skeptical that our tiny kitchen would look right with what Ricardo planned. We went to the warehouse to pick out the cabinets, counters, and backsplash: my wife and I felt unsure and lost. Ricardo quickly gathered some samples that he suggested we use based on the lighting and our space we were working with in the kitchen area. What was an anxious situation turned into confidently making the right choices thanks to Ricardo's expertise and advice. The initial time frame was to begin work on November 5th and it would end mid December, just before Christmas. During our time of construction, we had a handful of familiar technicians visiting our kitchen: all of whom were kind and busy! Ultimately--due to a number of extra add-ons and a few days where the techs didn't show up--our kitchen wrapped up construction on December 22nd, which was still before Christmas. Even after that date, we made a very small list of things that we found needed modification, altering, or adjusting as we started using our kitchen. Our kitchen has been completely transformed and our guests are left awestruck when they see our kitchen that--by the way--feels like it has received a makeover from one of those reality shows! We are beyond satisfied with our new kitchen. One of Ricardo's employees came mid-January and took care of all the items on our short fix-it list! A few blemishes on our experience were that, as aforementioned, there were a handful of days that we would wait for someone to show up and they didn't. A minor thing to note was that we had to spot paint after, but we were left with the necessary tools to do so at our own leisure. So I saw what Ricardo did at my sisters house and their kitchen and bathroom came out beautiful. I gave them a call and Ricardo came out and measured and told my husband whatever your wife wants we will do it. I will contact her with the estimate. I waited 2 weeks and gave them a call and they said it wasn't ready yet and usually takes a 3 weeks. I called the next week and they said I should be receiving it in my email..Nothing. I called again the next week and same thing. I called again and his receptionist told me they probably had my email incorrect so I text it to them. Nothing. I guess my project was not big enough. But they were very unprofessional and very rude to lie to me and said it was coming to email when they never had any intention of doing it. It has now going on 6 weeks no return phone call or email. Please reconsider using this company! They promise you alot of things and will not get back to you. Initially they said the work that I wanted they could complete in 6 to 8 weeks. It turned out to be almost 4 months. I told them I was renovating to move my dying mother in. Their work crews showed up to work always late and did poor work. They do not provide a receipt after requesting numerous times via email and face to face contact. Their measuring is off and they installed a mirror in my bathroom that was to big covering the window partially. They will not pay me my $425.00 that I paid them for the mirror. They told me they were doing me a favor by installing. They do not return your call and I have spent many wasted hours waiting for them to show up to work. They have great excuses why they can't be there or why the job is taking so long. Everyone BEWARE. NEXT STOP I'm reporting them to the Contractors Board. I did let the Company know of my intentions and dissatisfaction. read more
