I had high expectations from Miyabi after reading other Yelp reviews and Miyabi still blew me away! Miyabi is definitely ranks high on my MN sushi restaurant list. For starters, I really liked the Kani salad. The blend of crab meat and seaweed with their sweet sauce is fantastic. For sushi, we tried the white tiger roll, ironman roll, spider roll, eel and cucumber roll, and white tuna roll. My favorite was the white tiger roll. There is a healthy portion of tuna, salmon, and yellowtail and it is just amazing. You got to try it. Their take on the classic spider roll is also tasty. I don't know how Miyabi finds all this fresh sushi. It's unbelievable compared to other establishments. There's so much sushi to try. My gf and I left Miyabi stuffed and happy. Service was excellent. Parking is plentiful with a nearby parking lot. Come here to get your sushi fix. read more

Absolutely a waste of money. There was hardly anything in our spring rolls aside from lettuce ( very little avocado, cucumber, mango nor shrimp). The Satay Tofu texture was great, however, it was swimming in sweet peanut sauce. The tuna poke had zero flavors, but tons of flavorless sauce. Delicious and affordable! We went to Miyabi for my birthday last week and we conveniently went during Happy Hour! We started with the Spicy Edamame and Crab Rangoon, both delicious! The Spicy Edamame has a wonderful kick to it! I had ordered the Spicy Girl and California roll. Both incredible and very fresh! My husband had gotten the Sweet and Sour Chicken and raves about it! Our server was new (as the restaurant is only three weeks old) and there were a couple of questions he had to ask about, but he was happy to find out our info and was prompt. Miyabi has some seriously great sushi. And it's reasonably priced, which is amazing. They also have a nice outdoor seating area where you can work your way through a lunch special and watch people in Excelsior shop for chotchkies. But service is always fast and everything I've ordered is fresh, flavorful, and they have a great variety on the menu without being too overwhelming. I dropped into Miyabi to order some takeout sushi today. The hostess was wonderful and I had a glass of wine while I waited for them to complete my order. When I received it one of the roles came out wrong I pointed that out to the hostess and she graciously offered to have them make me the handroll which I had actually ordered and she said I'm not sure what they'll do with this one which they already made. I watched the sushi chef, who, the hostess shared with me was one of the owners take the mistakenly made roll out of the package and throw it away when he replaced it with my correct order, so instead of giving me the role he made by mistake as a bonus for me having to wait while he fixed his mistake he actually chose to throw it away. I will not come back to this restaurant again. They should know better. read more

Had a wonderful night at Miyabi... the crab Rangoon and dumplings were fantastic, as was the variety of sushi we tried along with fried rice and lo mein. We had quite a bit of beer and sake between 4 of us and our waiter offered a free round towards the end of our meal. A friend recommended this place. Very friendly staffs and phenomenon sushi. It blow my mind, I have not found a place for such fresh sashimi and good price in the State for a long time, what a venture to take me back to Japan. My husband picked up food from here this evening, and it was our first time to try Miyabi. When calling in the order the staff stated it would be a 20 minute wait, my husband was next door to the restaurant and had just finished an errand so he went ahead and stepped in rather than waiting the 20 mins. He also realized we had edamame at home so quickly asked upon arrival to cancel that portion of the order. The staff member tried to refuse this and quickly went to grab our rolls. Rolls that, mind you, could not have been ours. This isn't Jimmy Johns and he had literally just hung up the phone with them when he entered the restaurant. When he stated the hot roll didn't feel remotely warm in the to go container and asked for our extra spicy mayo side, he felt mocked and as if they just threw old stuff at us because they were upset about the edamame. He got home with the food, and as the evening progresses I really wish he'd left it there! These rolls could not have been fresh, they looked nothing like photos others have snapped on Yelp, they were honestly comparable to the old $5 sushi from a grocery store or worse (the to go containers looked exactly like the grocery store as well). Ingredients were definitely frozen then thawed poorly. These rolls literally were the embodiment of why I shunned sushi for so long - fishy taste, too much rice, huge chunks of avocado as a means to take up space rather than add flavor, packed and rolled very unevenly, incredibly tiny portions and every bit of both rolls (BMW & Sweatheart) tasted old / pre-frozen and lacked any flavor - either that or whomever made them just threw up their passion for the day and quit. I do have a fave sushi spot in town, and I certainly will stick to that.. glad I gave this a whirl just so I could appreciate that spot even more! I wouldn't return here.. poor customer service, lacking passion, extremely rude.. sad because they have a large menu with some seemingly tasty options like the salads & such.. & I liked the idea of having a chance to grab fried rice at the same time. But, for me, I'm remaining loyal to my fave spot Sushi Fix (2-14 & Mojo are probably what this place was "attempting" to mimic with the rolls I had.. attempting is a stretch.... & I have absolutely never been treated rudely pre or post pandemic there.. service, food & beverages are all outstanding at Sushi Fix)! read more

We came across this restaurant not really knowing what we were hungry for. We were greeted warmly by Yuki who made some great recommendations. We had Chicken Curry and Beef with Thai Peanut Sauce and fried rice. They were all awesome. You could tell the food was made fresh and not a bunch of frozen veggies thrown together. We found the portions generous (we had leftovers) and not badly priced when compared to places like Benihana. If you are looking for some cheap Chinese food, this is not it. But if you're looking for great Asian cooking, you've come to the right spot. Not only would I return for the great food but Yuki was one of the best waitresses I've ever had. Amazing food! Best wonton soup that I've had in the twin cities! The serving sizes were big enough that I had leftovers for lunch but just the right amount for my husbands dinner. This place is excellent for sushi. I've eaten hear twice and each time was superb. This place has an extensive Asian menu, but the Japanese items are where this restaurant shine. Today was my first time dining here. I'm not one to leave reviews but this place has the worst service I've ever had. Walked in, said wait to be seated. Literally no one else was dining there. Workers looked up and did nothing. I had to walk over and ask to be seated. Ordering food and getting the check was a disaster. I had to walk up and ask them several times to be served. Whenever the waiter would come over he would leave in 2 seconds and would take the menus away quickly. Never again. HORRIBLE!!!! These people don't know how to treat other human beings. I have never been to a sushi restaurant with such big pieces of sashimi! The salmon sashimi is so buttery delicious! All of the fish was extremely fresh and the plates were filling and amazing. Our server, Jisoo, was very attentive, gave suggestions, and made sure we were cared for. The restaurant itself is very modern, nicely decorated and I love the tall cushion booths. ZERO STARS! Instead of ordering take out here, I would of been better off eating a $.29 bowl of ramen noodle! I paid $60 for 3 entrees and it all went in the trash! Not even the steamed rice was good. Must of been sitting out all day. The Orange Beef was $18 for "meat" that was more like leather. Pad Thai was the worst I have ever had. Tao General Chicken was a sauce fried crust over chalky chicken nuggets. Yuck! On top of how bad the food is, they over charged me by making me pay for a side of rice when rice comes with it. To round off the horrible experience, I waited 35 minutes or so in the restaurant for the togo food. When I asked about it, they had it sitting behind the counter for awhile already. I don't recommend using Grubhub with them though because for the same price you somehow get half the amount of food and it's not worth the price. We just had lunch there and were stunned by how good the food was. I didn't think sushi varied that much from place to place, but it is superlative at Miyabi -- fresh and subtly tasty. The pad thai is perfect, as were the other noodle dishes we ordered. We adored our waitperson, who was super helpful and knowledegable but didn't hover too much. The decor is elegant, and check out the restrooms! The prices were excellent, too. We will make special trips to Excelsior just to go to Miyabi again. read more

Nowhere near expectations. Drinks were okay. The Pad Thai was flavorless. Sushi was reasonably good but did not compare with the other Japanese restaurant in Excelsior or others in Eden Prairie. Atmosphere was loud. Bench seats too far away from the table, meaning you had to sit on the edge of your seat to avoid dripping soy sauce on your clothing. Shirt is now in laundry. -:( Total bill for a less than satisfying birthday meal was $99 including tip. Won't be doing that again. read more
