My rating: 3.5-4 stars It's been a couple years since I've been to smorgasburg so when I got there shortly after it opened, I couldn't believe the long line that already formed at Miya Miya. Had to look up this place to see what the hype was and was curious enough to wait in the long line. From standing in line to getting my food, it took almost 1.5 hours. Luckily it wasn't too hot today but the sun in my face the entire time was not fun. The service was friendly. I ordered the beef tallow fries and chicken shawarma wrap the yaz way. The fries were good albeit a tad salty. The wrap was good but I don't think it's worth waiting in line for that long. The prices are good compared to other vendors and I'm glad I tried it once. Next time I think I'd support other vendors which barely had any lines.

Miya Miya in the Row LA was an interesting experience to say. Without going too much into it, it's very much an stereotypical LA spot, where it builds a lot of traction and has long lines, just for the food to be okay. The best thing I can compare it to? Community Goods. Long lines, expensive drinks, better off looking elsewhere. But man oh man those prices are crazy affordable, which begs the question, why do people line up here, for the 12 dollar shawarma and 5 dollar fries? Or the deliciousness that is their food? Or maybe it's both? I'll personally never know. You definitely know this place when you see it, it's open during Smorgasbord LA and has the longest line. I came during a hot day, and unfortunately it was unbearably hot in every sense of that word. Wish they set up some canopies but I doubt that's in their control. But what was in their control was their efficiency. Knowing they had a giant line and was the busiest, the staff took their time with every interaction and even the back of house had a football game on, and one was just watching instead of getting through the mountain of tickets. Their food was definitely amazing and on the cheaper side, but for the service and lack of hustle? I'd probably patronize other stalls. Especially on hot days.

From the first bite, Miya Miya does not mess around. I stopped by their Smorgasburg popup in DTLA hoping for a solid shawarma wrap and instead got one of the best ones I've had in Los Angeles, full stop. The chicken shawarma is thinly sliced, perfectly spiced, and juicy. The balance between the garlic sauce, the acidity of the pickled veggies, and that sweet-sour note from the pomegranate is just next level. Portions aren't humongous, but IMO you're paying for quality: ingredients, flavor layering, technique. The staff were friendly, working the line well despite the popup crowd. If you like shawarma, or even if you're just someone chasing the next food experience, Miya Miya is absolutely worth the detour. Just go hungry, maybe with a friend so you can split fries, and prepare for your standards to be raised.

Chicken shawarma wrap - The Yaz Way with beef tallow fries

As of 5/25, this spot, with a streamlined menu and specializes in chicken shawarma wraps, operates out of Smorgasburg at the Row in DTLA on Sundays. The wrap is made up of thinly sliced, 48-hour marinated chicken using a Jordanian spice blend imported from Amman, served with a creamy garlic sauce and pickles, and wrapped in fresh saj bread. You can also order the wrap "The Yaz Way" - which I did, which includes a spicy garlic sauce in addition to a pomegranate molasses sauce that gives the eating experience a nice sweet / spicy dynamic to the wrap. I've read about this place and heard about this place in a couple of posts and podcasts. I was heading to a play on a Sunday at the Pantages and made it a point to come here specifically to get this wrap. So glad I made that choice and well worth braving some moderate Sunday traffic IMO. I also ordered some beef tallow fries that was seasoned with za'atar. A wonderful accompaniment to an already delicious meal. The fries were crispy and fresh and had a great flavor with the seasoning. The folks here were very chill/friendly and happy to see you when you step up to their stand. Since the menu is really simple and straightforward, ordering and getting your food is pretty quick as well.

Miya Miya is a vendor at the Smorgasburg that has the simplest of menus, a chicken shawarma wrap. You can opt for their sauce, which gives it some heat for a buck more. They also have beef tallow fries. That's it for the food options. They seem to be very popular as the line is long, being the only one there that sells Middle Eastern food. The guys there are really friendly. The food is fresh, as you can see the meat being sliced from the spit, wrapped up, rubbed on the spit for extra flavor and placed on the grill for a slightly crispy exterior. The flavor is really good, the meat is nicely seasoned. It's very portable so even if there aren't any tables, eating it isn't a problem. The wait times can vary. If they're waiting for the meat on the spit to brown, then you may end up waiting for 10-15 minutes. Going by my poor memory, I think they might also sell Dubai chocolate for$16. But I was plenty happy trying their wrap, and would get it again when I'm back at the Smorgasburg.

The line was the longest at the Smorgasburg and probably waited about 40 minutes to get to order. This place was bookmarked after seeing so much through social media. Ordered the chicken shawarma with yaz and beef tallow fries. Food was yums but honestly wasn't worth that long wait. Definitely will order again as long as there's no waiting

Miya Miya has the best chicken shawarma wrap. You have to go to Jordan to find something comparable. Their pop-up at Smorgasburg LA has two menu items: chicken shawarma and beef tallow fries. Chicken Shawarma Wrap: The saj flatbread has been toasted on a grill until it's crispy like an egg roll. Scratch it to hear how crunchy it is. Shaved chicken slices overflow from the top of the wrap. The chicken has been perfectly grilled on the spit. It's so tender, juicy, and crispy. The flavor is outstanding through a two-day marinade of spices imported from Jordan. A creamy garlic sauce and pickles complements the chicken well. Make sure to get it The Yaz Way and they'll drizzle sticky sweet pomegranate sauce on top. Ordering: It's about a 15-minute wait before your order and another 15 minutes until the food is ready. At the register, Chef Yaz will greet you with a fist pound. After your name is called, find a seat at one of the picnic tables. Parking: Parking is free for two hours at the Row DTLA.

WOW the chicken shawarma The Yaz Way was amazing!! I'm so glad I finally got to try it after attempting to twice and it being sold out! The workers were super cool and the food came out reasonably fast for the amount of people ordering all at once. I loved how creamy and meaty it was, paired w the pickle inside it added the perfect crunch to combine it all together. Imma need more of that pomegranate vinaigrette sauce tho!! Might as well put it inside :3 can't wait to try it again with the sauce on the side so I can have it with each bite!!! I literally had a dream that I came back for more but they were sold out, and the workers asked me to come to the back to help them make more. That's how good it was, they got me dreaming about it.

Really good Mediterranean wraps! The chicken was super flavorful and everything tasted fresh. The line was kinda long but moved fast, so no big deal. Fries were insanely crispy as they fry them in beef tallow which makes a huge difference. Definitely coming back next time I'm at The Row!

In line at Smorgasburg, biggest line

If you've seen the hype about this shawarma stand on social media--believe it. This place is the real deal. The menu is as simple as it gets: just chicken shawarma wraps (and fries), but the execution is perfection. The chicken is carved fresh off the rotisserie, wrapped in a beautifully grilled pita that's both warm and toasty, with tangy pickles and a flavor explosion that hits all the notes--garlicky, spicy, sweet, and savory. The drizzle of pomegranate molasses is magic... though I wish they gave me even more of it. The fries? Crispy, golden, and fried in beef tallow for that extra richness--seasoned just right without being greasy. On a good day, they sometimes offer off-menu loaded fries topped with their shawarma and sauces, but quantities are so limited they weren't available when I went. Here's the catch: the demand is INSANE. They only operate twice a week (Sundays at Smorgasburg and Friday nights in West LA), and they strictly limit one wrap per person. I waited about 30 minutes in line just to order, and then another hour before my food was ready. Honestly, in the summer heat it was a challenge, but grabbing a local brewery drink while waiting helped. By the time I got to the front, I was literally the cut-off customer--and even with a lighter wrap than others, it was still ridiculously good. The vibe is very festival-like, with everything prepped fresh right in front of you. The owner came out to kindly cut off the line and was super friendly and genuinely grateful for the support, which made the experience even better. Yes, the wait is long. Yes, the portions are rationed. And yes, I'd do it again. I just wish they had a brick-and-mortar spot or opened more often because this is by far the best shawarma I've had in LA. Until then, I'll be back--ready to stand in line all over again for just one perfect wrap.

my brother realllllly wanted to try this chicken shawarma from miya miya and they only open like two days out of the week, one of them being sunday at smorgasburg! we came pretty early around 10:30am, waited 20 min to place our order and then got our food at 11:40am. and the line just got longer as the day went by. but omg the shawarma was very much worth the wait. it was soooooo incredibly tasty. filled with garlicky, spiced, juicy deliciousness. there were so many flavors and depth! esp with the little crunch of the pickles which provided a nice touch of acidity~ and the pomegranate molasses for some sweetness! i couldve devoured 2 tbh. but its limited 1 per person which i totally understand. we also got beef tallow fries and a side of their garlic sauce to dip them in. the fries were fried to perfection and well seasoned! garlic sauce was bomb too. there are lots of tables and seating available if you walk around the area. although its a food market fest, it isnt all that rowdy and is quite mellow and enjoyable. lots of ppl walking around but it wasnt overstimulating either would i come back to wait 70min for this? probably yeah :)

    Shwarma and fries

The food was good, but not worth the wait. From start to finish, it took us 3 1/2 hours to get our food. The shawarma was pretty good and I would recommend getting it Yaz's way. The fries were well cooked and well seasoned. Overall, I liked the food and the staff, but to me there's no food worth standing in line for 3 1/2 hours. I'm glad I got to experience it once and you should as well, but I would recommend getting here an hour before they open.

Stopped by here for lunch at Smorgasborg on Sunday after a recommendation from the gals at Nova Arts Salon. I got the chicken shawarma (minus dairy) with some extra pomegranate sauce + the beef tallow fries. The meat was a tinsy bit on the dry side but the sauce covered for that I think and over was delicious - I would eat there again for sure. Service was great, friendly and offered good recommendations for substitutions. Smorgasborg gets hot as hell on the blacktop in The Row so be sure to come prepared: hat, sunnsies, sunscreen, water, etc.

I normally don't focus too much on pricing at restaurants, but the final bill on this one had me do a double glance. I get that you're in the LA Arts District and paying for the location and ambiance, but the pricing seems a bit excessive. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd honestly love to come back and bring friends because the restaurant itself is nice and the food was genuinely good.
