I came to the newly-opened Mixt in the San Ramon City Center for lunch. I thought it was primarily a place to get big salads (Seinfeld anyone?). It turns out that Mixt refers to healthy combinations of fresh, organic ingredients. Sure they specialize in salads, but you also get high-carb grain bowls and low-carb plates too. The restaurant concept here is very similar to Urban Plates, but it seems much healthier to me. I chose a customized grilled chicken plate with Spicy Korean BBQ sauce. They give you a grilled breast and will slice it up for you. Chicken was reasonably moist and not too dry. Sauce had a very nice spicy kick. The cauliflower mash was a nice, healthier riff on mashed potatoes. Solid 4-star lunch meal. Color me intrigued. Mixt offers endless combinations of healthy ingredients and its more than just a salad place. Health-conscious folks can come here for healthy carbs or protein-rich meals. Like Mendocino Farms, they also sell unhealthy chips and desserts near the cash register. read more

As an EXTREMELY picky eater, especially when it comes to salads, I LOVE Mixt! I love that you can build your own salads and customize it exactly how you want it. Since they opened up at the City Center, I have been frequenting this place with colleagues and it does tend to get packed with the office crowds right around the noon mark so if you're planning on lunching here on a week day, you could tweak your schedule to be here a little earlier or a little after 12:30. The staff is really on task and they keep everyone moving so you won't ever wait for too long. My favorites includes their Sandia (special summer menu) which has roasted corn, toasted almonds, Oaxaca cheese, watermelon on butter lettuce and a basil based salad dressing. It's summer in a bowl- so good on a hot day. The other favorite is their Ritual salad. Lots of color, spicy peanuts, mango and a delicious dressing. What a turn around. I emailed customer service as Aaron from Mixt suggested. I decided to back for one last try since the food was good but the processes and service were awful. I went in, was second in line, and was past the register with the salad in the photo in less than five minutes. All with quick and competent service. Amazing transformation. Did all the other employees get sacked or what happened?! In either case, still not a five star but nowhere near my first experience. I asked for grilled chicken (the orange pots were filled with fish, chicken, and beef that was freshly cooked and looked hot and inviting) and was told the chicken cubes they add were hot. Ok...but....I still would prefer freshly sliced grilled chicken with some flavor instead of the cubes which had almost no flavor. Would like to see more choices overall too (comparison yet again to Urban Plates) but at least the rest of the operation was working properly. I really enjoyed this place! I think its a perfect spot for a quick and healthy lunch, almost reminding me a bit of Sweetgreen. I ordered the new pacifica crispy chicken bowl, and I loved how I could choose to get light sauce as I usually feel the standard amount is a bit too much. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and I really enjoyed the rice and mango as well! I've never tried rice like that before, but it was great. Portion sizes are also huge -- if you're not that hungry, it could definitely last you 2 meals. Overall, I'd highly recommend giving this place a try! read more

I have been craving a good salad lately so I decided to go for MIXT. I did an online order and it was so easy to order and checkout. They give you a time to pick up so you are not waiting around. I ordered the Cowboy Salad and it was delicious! Of course, I added bacon. It only seems right on a salad lol. Bacon completes me! My husband got a Cobb Salad. It comes with a vinaigrette so he added chipotle ranch dressing. He likes the salad a lot, but suggests that you ask for the bleu cheese on the side so that you can add as much as you want. They are a little heavy handed with the bleu cheese crumbles. He would like me to also let y'all know that the "honey" dressing are not that great lol. He tried them previously. My daughter ordered a Caesar salad and she said it was perfect. The dressing was good and they put plenty of Parmesan flakes and croutons. read more

Generally I like MIXT a lot, and I have been going here weekly for almost 6 months. Today I ordered 2 bachelor salads and the STEAK WAS RARE. I ended up stirfrying the meat at home myself. I enjoy steak, but rare steak in salad is not my thing. I've been to this place enough times to know that this is not a personal preference thing. This is an issue of quality control. Lately the portion size has been all over the place, and the dressing level seems to mean very different things depending on who's making your salad. I'm giving it 2 stars because they've been quite good for a long time. They could definitely improve how they control quality, and then I'd be happy to come back. read more

I received something in the mail to try out Mixt. I know it opened in the Bishop Ranch City Center not too long ago. Looking online and at the menu online, it seems like it's a chain that offers lots of healthy alternatives and has salads and sandwiches. I decided to plan my order online for pick up for a weekday dinner. I came home from work around 7pm ish and placed my order. I ordered the impossible meatball, since I wanted to try that and I had two sides. When I arrived, I discovered they were out of impossible meatballs. I see the guy at the counter attempted to call me to tell me BUT ODDLY enough, he chose not to leave a message. I prefer if he left a message in an attempt to let me know ahead of time. So instead of the impossible meatballs, I decided to change my order to the steak. However, during this haste, they FORGOT my chimchurri sauce. I originally ordered my impossible meatballs with the chimchurri sauce. So everything was a mess that day with my order. They didn't have my original planned order (although they saw my frustration and disappointment, they did compensate me with their lemonade which was delicious). But then, they forgot to give me me chimchurri sauce. Their sides were okay but I found them too salty for my liking. I am just disappointed how empty it was during the time I went to pick up my food and they happen to be out of what I wanted, so it was somewhat of a disappointing trip for me. This is the most extensive toppings bar that I've ever encountered with some fancy/fresh ingredients! It is warm inside, so don't be surprised when you see some fruit flies by the toppings. I really want to like Mixt. I have been here three times and I've never been satisfied. It's unfortunate because I would like to eat here more. I have gotten the Pacifica salad, the flat iron steak, children's chicken for my girls, and just the turmeric drink a couple of days after they opened. I was disappointed in the food every single time. The turmeric drink is fabulous; but, I didn't see it the last time. The salad tasted like shredded cabbage and they skimped on the dressing; it tasted so bland. I has to add olive oil and garlic salt when I got home. I decided to be bold and try the flat steak thinking it'd be much tastier and flavorful than the salad. Oh my! I had about 6 pieces of hard chewy non flavorful steak. It's definitely not worth $15. I ate up the brussel sprouts and that tasted way more flavorful than the steak. I might stop by and buy their turmeric drink if I am at City Center. I want to love this place so much. I dig a good hearty salad. As others have pointed out there are occasional slip ups but I give them all the second chances when there's something incorrect with an order. Missing bread slice, missing topping, missing protein. I gripe at the price sometimes knowing that despite shelling it all out I might not get 100% of my order but I like what I usually end up with so I keep coming back. But something about tonight just did me in and I don't think I'll be ordering here again. Tonight I walk in to grab my takeout bag, say hello and thank you, and despite only maybe 1 or 2 other customers in the building nobody even turns to acknowledge me. (They had a chance there to tell me if they were out of stock of something in my order but nothing.) I get home, open my Falafel salad and no grapes, no cauliflower. I sigh, never have they missed two toppings. Then my husband notices something slimy all over the bottom of his salad container as he takes it out of the bag. Ok, gross. My last review mentioned how the staff didn't ask if it was dine in or takeout which led to everyone eating in a plastic takeout container. That was my first time there. MIXT is a great stop for healthy organic foods. You will leave full or with leftovers. The salads are HUGE and the kids plates are plentiful. You can choose from salads/bowls that have been already created or make your own. While the kids plate had basic choices on the menu my daughter asked if she could have Brussels sprouts instead and they glad substituted them for her. The restaurant is very happy to make your meal exactly as you would like. You do not find this everywhere you go. My kids both left with boxes as they could not finish and I was completely stuffed. The salad was so good I couldn't stop eating it. The bar of fresh ingredients in the restaurant is incredible and will make any salad lover drool for sure. I ordered this Beetnik salad on DoorDash tonight from Mixt. I was disappointed with the expired avocado, no beets as ordered, and spinach that appears to have bug holes in it. Salad was warm and wilted. The goat cheese was placed on top of salad with one massive lump. This salad obviously lacked love when put together. I chose the Parmesan cauliflower mash, broccoli and roasted corn. Of the three I chose, the mash was my favorite. So it's definitely not potatoes, but just as delightful! Maybe it's the cheese but it has this light creaminess that makes it so divine. My second favorite was the roasted corn! It was really yummy. I don't know how else to describe it because I'm a corny kind of girl! Haha. The broccoli was good and had a slight kick to it. Warning it definitely does smell like broccoli and shouldn't be something you eat at your desk because your colleagues will definitely catch a whiff of it! It was pretty good. Pro tip. So I visited this spot, whilst searching for something fresh and healthy-ish, which isn't an easy feat in San Ramon- other than Whole Foods. To be fair, I'm not super familiar with the area. However, I was in a hurry and looking for something fresh & decent to grab, this place caught my eye and I gave it a whirl. It offers fresh ingredients, a menu of build your own assembly line type fair... salads, warms plates, sandwiches etc. they seemed to have some decent offerings. The food I had hit the spot. I wondered in late-ish one night on my lunch break looking for something healthy. The staff was super friendly, even thought they were near closing. The food was great. I can't complain a bit. It's not a formal sit down 5-star dining experience with at me service, but if you want to grab something healthy chill and quick, this is for sure a decent spot. Greens, goat cheese, fast casual? Count me in. I'm always on the prowl for fun and delicious health conscious eats, and Mixt is right up my alley. But I still balk at paying $10+ for a salad, and end up comparing its value to the salad bar at Whole Foods. For the same price, would I be able to create a better tasting combination of ingredients? Are the ingredients diverse enough that I would have trouble making them on my own? Mixt is one of the few that passes muster. I love Mixt's selection of fun and enticing toppings, colorful selection of precurated salads/bowls, the option to create your own. I also appreciate that they include calorie counts for their dishes. If you're familiar with Homegrown, Mixt has a similar vibe and concept, just with more salads than sandwiches, and a wider array of customization options. Upon perusing the menu, the Beetnik, Verde, and Rain Bowl all caught my eye. For my first time here I opted for the Beetnik salad, dubbing walnuts for almonds because I'm allergic, and with dressing on the side. Delicious! The goat cheese in particular was really fresh and really made the dish. The balsamic dressing was on point as well. My dad is a fan of steak, and ordered the Bachelor with medium (as in quantity of) dressing. He enjoyed it but could have gone for a heavier hand on the dressing. All and all, we had a great experience, and I count myself a fan of this new addition to the City Center! read more
