Walking into MITO felt like being on vacation in Miami! The vibe is incredible - tropical jungle meets an upscale nightclub. The servers were very kind and had great recommendations when it comes to drinks. Hibiscus margarita was very refreshing, strong and not overly sweet. The 'foot' drink was exquisite. Looking at the menu, it was difficult to decide what to order. We wanted to get a few items to share but ended up settling on the Birriya Pizza and Pojo. The price tag on some items was crazy - 9$ for a single taco? The table next to us ordered the shrimp taco trio, and it looked really sad on the plate, with hardly any garnishes and no sides. The menu definitely needs improvement, with more emphasis on how to pair different items together, such as adding a side of rice or beans since the tacos don't seem to come with it. The birriya pizza was very flavorful, and I would definitely order it again. Make sure your server brings the consome on the side, as they initially forgot it on our table. The pojo course was delicious - charred grilled chicken in a savory dry rub on a bed of potatoes. It would definitely benefit from a small side of veggies, but it was great nonetheless, and a very generous portion. Overall, I am excited to have Mito join the Twin Cities restaurant scene, and hope to see new additions to the menu this summer. read more

Friday afternoon dinner and drinks with coworkers. We heard that Grumpy's closed and a new Latin restaurant took over. They did a great job reinventing the space. Every which way you turn is a great Instagram backdrop. We had a large group of 10 people... and didn't think we would need reservations for 4 pm, opening time. But I guess they were "booked" inside, and we got sat on the patio. Perfect for a late summer afternoon. Loved the canopy in the trees for shade. Our waiter was Emmett, and he did a fantastic job with checking in on us through our 2 hour stay. Friends came and went at different times, and he was keeping up with the us. Many fancy drinks were ordered. Some had a "pour show".... so get your camera out to record. It was the highlight of the evening. Many different meals were ordered from pizza to sushi. Don't forget to stop by the bathroom before you head out. I also judge a place by its bathroom, and this one takes the cake! (The only place close enough to compare is Baldamar.) Wow! We loved the flashy Miami vibe. Such a fun ambience which included live music. The drinks are so unique and showy. The food was really tasty and also had a fun presentation. The ceviche was very fresh and great flavor. The shrimp tacos were crispy and delicious. Shout out to Esmeralda who was a great server and showed us around the restaurant. It is a stand alone building in Roseville with plenty of parking. There is a plan to have a club space upstairs and a speakeasy downstairs. If you are looking for somewhere with just flashy lights and overstimulation- go here! It's unfortunately overpriced and overrated. Drinks were okay, but extremely expensive. I will say they are creative but both food and drink lack authentic actual flavor. I got barely two small plates and two drinks and my bill was well over $100.... The quality is not worth the trendy little hype it currently has. Maybe if they changed their menu and progressed in their flavors instead of just the flashy "show" it may be worth visiting again... Not going to lie, food is amazing, but I feel you are paying more for the aesthetic. The building on the inside is beautiful and me and my family for my sisters birthday got a beautiful picture. I won't say that the money spent wasn't good, just that in the end, if the food was placed on a regular plate, it probably would cost less. The inside is without words drop dead beautiful. You got to see it to truly understand it. There is this beautiful flower bed in the ceiling to the bathrooms which was a hot zone for pictures. Well this was amazing from start to finish. The decor is like walking into a club on south beach and just has a good vibe as soon as you enter. The food was top notch with the Kobe beef tomahawk steak taking the show. It's one of the best steaks I have ever had. The octopus was very well seasoned and delicious. The table side guac was good and fresh but probably the only ok thing it was good, but not great. The claims from the billionaires menu were delicious and loved the presentation with the gold flakes. The service for a new restaurant was good and you can tell they are still getting used to things. A few hick ups but they were pleasant and gracious. Will definitely be going back again and again. I would tell anyone to visit this place. I liked the ambiance and the service was great. I didnt eat any food seeing that I can stand to miss a meal. Moving on the drink the drinks was hitting I was two drinks in and started feeling myself. There was a nice lady that is a bartender I wish I would have gotten her name but the way she worked that bar and handled the guest was freaking top notch. Anyways back to the drinks they serve the speciality cocktails in cool little cups dope right. Inside those cups is another life. Honestly, this is the best Latin restaurant I've experienced. The atmosphere/ambiance is unique and fun. The food/drink is excellent. The Birria here is the best I've had - you can get it on pizza, in an empanada, tacos, and even in their queso. Service is great! Drink presentation and the shot "airplane" are a riot. The remodel is gorgeous! Food 3/5 - MITO has a wide variety of options to choose from. Overall the food was good but not great. The tacos and burgers were the best out of everything. The sushi was underwhelming. The drink menu was fun but there are no non-alcoholic options offered. Prices for food are a bit high but you're paying for the ambiance. Service 4/5 - MITO definitely has plenty of workers. People were constantly walking over to refill our drinks and take finished plates away. We had a few wait staff take plates that weren't finished when I went to the bathroom. Ambiance 5/5 - The prices reflect the ambiance and fun beachy atmosphere. I had been to Mito's a year ago while visiting in St Paul. I was very pleased with the food and the service. My last visit 3 days ago was disappointing. I ordered Salmon and the shrimp passion ceviche The meal was just n not impressive The salmon was good but the ceviche had more fruit than shrimp. You could barely taste any shrimp at all. I ordered a Grey Goose Cosmo but I think they left the vodka out . The service was decent but they bought the appetizers with the meal. Anyway I doubt if I would go back any time soon. Told us it was happy hour and we asked multiple times to double check and then didn't give us happy hours prices. I believe the waiter knew what he was doing because he didn't give anyone their receipts before paying. He handed us the device to pay without being able to review the prices. Was my first time! Ambiance was amazing and the drink I had was great! The server I had was very attentive and I super appreciated the drawings of the cocktails so it helped make ordering easy. One thing I wasn't too happy about was that they didn't have the King or The Queen drink available in the cups they were supposed to come in so it was just a regular overpriced drink in a glass. This restaurant is super cute and amazing to post all over your social media. A lot of care is put into presentation of the food and drinks. I've been twice, once for brunch on the patio and again for dinner inside to get the two experiences. The menus and drink options are very different so be wary if you want the cool cups. Those are available with the dinner menu. The brunch mimosa flight is amazing. I tried several of the fancy cocktails in the crazy cups and those were amazing as well. Drinks are expensive but comparable to other places I'd say and they're super good. The food at brunch and dinner was lackluster to say the least. For brunch I had some tacos. The portion was small for the price and the tacos, rice, and salsas lacked flavor. For dinner we ordered the guac with some sort of roll up. Can't remember but the roll up things were fine. The guac needed salt and lime majorly. No flavor. The tortilla chips were bland as well. If we ordered something else I can't recall because it wasn't worth remembering. Service on both occasions was fine, no complaints. Our brunch waiter didn't know much of the menu but the dinner waiter we got helped recommend a lot of drinks to our taste. The food sadly looked unappealing due to the blue lighting. I really wish they served something more simple like chips and salsa. For an app we ordered the birria empanadas, which I thought was delicious and the cosome was flavorful. The chorizo and asada tacos were dry and lacked flavor in my opinion. The Diablo shrimp was good, we were impressed by the amount of large shrimp but wished it came with rice or tortillas (we did order tortillas for it) it was good but we weren't having a ratatouille mouth explosion moment (IYKYK) a lot of people were ordering the sushi which they would torch with a flame in front of you, they seemed to be raving about that. The cocktails are super fun and unique. There's a drink cart that rolls around serving shots, I opted out so I received a complimentary champagne, the smoke bubbles on the drinks were a fun interactive touch, she even served the bubbles over people's heads to catch in their mouth! There was also a fire dancer walking around to different parts of the restaurant, we also enjoyed the live music but it is very club like and loud in there. The vibe here is cool. But hostess is weird, i came in for a reservation and they had already sit my party. They didn't know where to take me so they kind of took me around looking for my party. The shrimp appetizer was the best so far, everyone finished it. The oysters is very tasty as well, full of flavors. I wish the waitress would have told me about the small spicy bottles provided for the oysters before i finished it all. The 24 hours chicken is SO dry, I wouldn't recommend it. The guac is ok, if only the chicharonnes is fresh then it would be bomb. It was old and smells already, very hard to even bite it. Mitos is a whole vibe!!! Some girlfriends and I met up because one of my girlfriends was moving out of state. We loved loved loved the vibe!! The drinks were so unique and more so delicious! The music and fire eater were so amazing! I will definitely go back. The downsides are the menu is so many different things and no one thing that stands out.
