Came back from a trip and husband noticed a leak coming from under the sink. Turns out our garbage disposal was leaking! Fortunately the previous owners had put little plastic bins under the sink, so it was able to catch a lot of the dripping water before it ruined the wood. Contacted our home warranty company last night and were assigned Mitchell's Plumbing. I think we've had them out 1-2 times in the past. Their scheduler called early this morning and said she would try to get us scheduled the same day. I loved that because I didn't realize how dependent I was on our kitchen sink to wash hands or rinse items! The scheduler (I can't remember her name!) called a few hours later and let me know that the tech would be on his way to us next. Soon the tech showed up (forgot to ask him his name) and took his shoes off outside! That was so considerate of him to do so. I don't think I would have asked him to take off his shoes since we were on a tile floor, but it was a nice touch. He quickly diagnosed the garbage disposal as needing replacement, which was fortunately covered by our awesome home warranty. An hour or so later, we had a new garbage disposal installed! Not the same brand as our old one (Insinkerator) but he said it was the same horsepower and the one the home warranty company covered. We didn't want to pay anything additional so we went with what was provided, WasteMaid. As we were walking towards the door, I asked the tech how long garbage disposals typically last. He said they could last anywhere from 3 to 20 years depending on your luck or how one uses it. Guess we will see how long this one lasts! Mitchell's Plumbing does a great job with getting things done fast. I do notice the techs don't do much small talk, which is probably why they can get same-day jobs done so efficiently. I guess I'm just used to contractors hanging around and chit chatting but for Mitchell's, they always seem to be rushing off to the next job, so I just stay out of their way instead of asking them if they want to be in my Yelp review photo lol. They get the job done, professionally and efficiently, so that's what's most important! read more

The secretary was so RUDE. I called our home warranty about a clogged toilet pipe (clogged before we moved in) and they said they would give me a good plumbing company and gave me the direct and emergency line for Mitchell's Plumbing. My home warranty explained they put in an order already, I just needed to call one of the numbers provided. I called the direct line, the person who picked up said I needed to wait and they'd call me back by 5pm to schedule after they went through their order requests. She sounded annoyed, but I let it go because maybe she wasn't having a good day. I am not familiar with how their company and the warranty works so I tried to be patient. I did not get a call by 5pm but I was okay waiting, so I did not call back. The secretary called the next morning and said she was supposed to call me back but didn't. She was not apologetic, but fine, maybe she was busy. We scheduled an appointment. I spoke to my husband and he told me we need to update them the bath tub is also clogged now too. So I called back to update and same secretary picked up again sounding annoyed. I asked about putting in an emergency request. She rudely told me to go through our home warranty. It is fine if I needed to, but she could have explained all of this respectfully and kindly. I am just trying to get information and if I'm asking the wrong people, there is no need to be rude. They can't expect everyone to already know the process of how home warranty works with their company. I did not appreciate the way I was treated so I called again to cancel the appointment and requested a different plumbing company through my home warranty. And of course this last call was met with a sigh as she answered and she hung up with an okay right after I asked to cancel. One of the drawbacks of cooking extensively is when you have the bad habit of letting your "garbage disposal" do most of the work when ridding of all your food prep waste. It doesn't matter how amazing your pipes are or how bloody destructive your disposal unit is; it is a matter of time before you get a clog somewhere along the line that will make you freak out and call up a plumber to fix your mess. Here's the thing: I don't mind calling a plumber. I do mind, however, when it comes to which plumber comes (just like the same way it comes to which mechanic will fix your car). You don't just settle for any plumber right? You don't just let anyone come and waltz away with another portion of your hard-earned money yeah? Well, our home warranty assigned us to Mitchell's plumbing yet again, which the lady was exceptionally pleased about. It has been more than two years since the last visit but they proved to be exceptionally competent and honest when it comes to servicing all home plumbing issues. They do not take shortcuts and are thorough in making sure your pipes are good to go for a few years (of lazy mistakes like mine). They give out advice freely as well in how to avoid the same bloody issues that brought them here. It was a fast $100 out of my pocket because they unclogged all the pipes that had issues within 15 minutes. He gave me extensive advice to avoid it from happening again. He even explained how the mess happened in the first place (in excruciating detail, which I totally appreciated). Here's to another few years of healthy pipes and if anything happens again, I know exactly who I want to show up at my house. Now I wonder if there is a way to unclog my arteries for $100. I am soooo happy with them. They called the same day and asked if they could come by in 30 minutes! Absolutely! (I had already been waiting for 3 days for the other guy). Each time, Martin has come out, and has proven himself to be professional, well-informed, hard working and willing to go the extra mile. Today he came out to snake the mainline in an old cast iron system. He quickly understood the scope of the problem and diagnosed the underlying issue. It was related to the septic tank, which had been pumped yesterday. It's unhealthy state had led to a problem in the waste plumbing. Martin cleared the line, and gave sound and clear advice on preventive maintenance steps, which you can bet we will follow. Mitchell Plumbing was assigned by my home warranty like another reviewer because they were available before our regular company (I think you get what you get with ours). They were Clean, Prompt, entirely Courteous, professionally dressed, and treated my family and myself with respectful verbiage and body language. I never felt a gimmicky or unsafe vibe (like some chain companies do). They had all their tools with and their work vans with them (which btw, they have a great look to vans- cool logo). They listened to what I knew, what I didn't, and offered advice on what to do. They literally wasted zero time as I'm a watchful client. I was able to make a very important meeting because of it and most importantly, they fixed the problem. They also told me specific issues that involved our particular area and our hardware- and additional knowledge I could do to increase efficiency that didn't involve upselling. One of the solutions I hadn't heard yet. However I will use them and my other Union shop in the future depending upon scheduling needs. I would say Mitchell and George Wilson plumbing are on my top list. I won't know how long term the fix is until later and I will post. Priced fair. Very relieved. Recommend. read more
