I have been looking for a good handyman, and after reading Parker Handy reviews, we went with him to install our exhaust fans. I was soooo wrong!!! He did not communicate to my husband that he could not properly install our fans. He did not communicate that he would be using parts of the old fan to install the new fan. My new fans look a mess. When I asked him to come back and install the fans the correct way, he stated. This job may vary in complexity depending on the option chosen. If there is a ready-made adapter trim available at the store with the right size, then the additional cost will be minimal. If a custom trim needs to be made from decorative materials, it will be a more complex and individual job, and the price will be higher. The best and most affordable option would be to find a ready-made trim that matches or is slightly larger than the old frame, and I can cut the inner diameter to fit the fan. This is the information he should have provided when he knew he could not install the fans correctly the first time. We will not pay him more money to fix the jury-rigged mess he made of our fans. I would never recommend him to anyone. Never!!!!!! Beware. read more

I have an awning on the side of my house that takes a beating in the wind and rain. The bracket and header board over time started pulling from the wall. I researched on Yelp and put a bid out for the work. Sergei reached out to me about 10min later. I shared some photos of the problem and he was confident he could do the work and gave me a price for the project that we agreed on. The weather was bad at the time, so Sergei and I agreed on a day (Saturday) and rough time earlier in the week for after the weather cleared. We didn't communicate the rest of the week. Saturday morning he messaged me about 45min prior and said he was on his way. I share this because he knew the weather and his trade. He didn't over communicate, but communicated the morning of to confirm and share his timing. I should have shared with him how high it was. He borrowed a longer ladder from me than he brought with him. No issues there. He took a few minutes to assess the problem up close, and then I offered to help him remove take the awning down. It would be heavy for one person. After that, he sailed through the repair. He removed the mounting brackets. He relocated three of header board screws to re-secure the board to bring it more flush to the wall. He moved and re-attached the mounting brackets to a stronger place on the header. He had his own screws to secure one of the brackets. I helped him lift the awning into the brackets, and then he re-attached the securing screws for the brackets. Lastly he completely re-caulked the top and sides of the header board to weather proof it again. Super nice guy. Very capable. He'll be the first to tell you sometimes his English is lacking, but I didn't mind at all and thought he was great. He reminds me of one of those guys that are really good at a lot of things in the housing trades. A rare find. I would definitely use Sergei's services again.
