brought my car in for tuning with a fully working sound system, and after they touched it, they left my system damaged and tried to blame it on "poor wiring" from the previous installer. That is completely unacceptable because my system was working perfectly fine before I came here. They replaced wiring without my consent or even informing me first, then had the nerve to tell me I needed to pay extra for additional wiring, materials, and labor just to get my own system working again. If the wiring was supposedly bad, why was everything working fine until they started changing things? Now my car smells like something is burning inside, which is a serious safety concern and honestly makes me worried about my car catching fire. Instead of taking responsibility, they keep trying to shift blame and charge me more for the damage they caused. I invested a lot of money into my sound system, and trusting this shop turned into a very expensive mistake. Extremely disappointing, unprofessional, and unacceptable service. I would not recommend bringing your vehicle here if you care about your system being handled properly. read more

I called to see if they could get the ceiling tweeters to work with my newly installed touchscreen radio. I was assured their techs were experts and could get it to work. I brought it in with the radio out. The tech said I had too many cables plugged in, so he unplugged most of them. The maps stopped working, and he said, "You just need to set it up." I showed him that I lost the connection with my phone, so it only played off the antenna. He said nothing. He then said, "The tweeters work now." But they did not. This may be a unique situation, but the general lesson here is that if they don't know how to do something, instead of admitting it, they will simply tell you that you are hearing what you aren't. read more

Friendly, quick, and cheap. My car didn't have the correct spacing for regular radios so they built a port to house the radio along with a storage compartment. All reasonable in price and Ive never had an issue with the radio's function. read more

I had to troubleshoot an issue with my cigarette lighter port which I had converted to a usb charger, and they were able to address it quickly. I like these guys. They don't upsell. Give you what you want. Honest and know their stuff. It's an old school shop with old school dudes who don't pressure you. Tell them what you want, how much you're willing to spend and they'll set it up. It's still cheaper to install on your own, and if time is your commodity, then I don't mind paying experts to do it right. Excellent service. My wife was gifted a furbished Boss radio. We had Hi-tech do the install and learned afterwards that the radio itself was bad (static, high pitched wine). Jim gave us a few quotes for a replacement unit in the $250 range before labor. The entire affair (bad radio install labor, plus replacement) was going to cost us close to $800. We really had no choice, we didn't think leaving her car without a radio was an option, and paying the labor to re-install the old unit felt like a waste. Needless to say her gift felt more like a curse. We told Hi-tech to go ahead with a new unit. The replacement was done in two hours. When we arrived for pick it up Jim had removed the labor from the invoice, and added an additional discount. We paid closer to $175 instead of the $350ish we were quoted! We are beyond thrilled. They were under no obligation to provide any assistance for an off-the-street radio. The radio they installed is even better than the one we were gifted. Hi-tech turned a terrible situation into something really special. We will definitely be back. read more

We had a Dashcam installed today which went great. Our only issue is with all the black fingerprints and smudges on the sun visor and several areas of the headliner that we can't get it out. Absolutely outstanding customer service. I got a system put in for my birthday in May. I did something to the mic and it needed replacing by Nov., but I don't live nearby. Will at the front desk assured me they would accommodate me on the fly whenever I could get there. And sure enough weeks later he remembered me and honored his word and fit me in with only a few hours notice. And the new mic was covered!!! I saw a whip like mine blacked out at a golf tournament. So I had to do it. Apparently this voids warranty on windows but oh well! It's also not exactly legal to blacken the lights and windows entirely, so I opted for a lighter version. I shopped actually on Yelp using the sms portion to gather quotes. Pretty handy I must say. They installed a digital radio and backup camera in our 2012 RAV4. We're getting it ready for our teen to drive, though he has lofty dreams of driving our new car...no way. They were pleasant, did a great job and, charged a reasonable price compared to some other places. You do need to shop around. For example, Autohaus Automotive Solutions in Hayward would have charged us $700 more by charging full retail for the parts and inflated labor costs. They also would not negotiate down from their inflated costs. So beware. Hi-Tech was great! read more

If you have a car like mine (2013 Honda Accord Coupe) that has a weird factory dot matrix strip on the top row of the rear window, you might be aware of other shops not tinting the dot matrix (leaving a row of no tint), or other shops where they try to tint over this matrix (possibly creating air bubbles). I have seen them in other cars, and I can say with confidence that Hi-Tech Car Audio did an amazing job on my rear window. It's been a five years since I brought my car in, and the workers understood my concerns and their plan was to put a vinyl wrap on the the dot matrix to make it seamless. This review is overdue and it's still holding today. Give them a call and see what they can do for you. read more
