I needed a dash cam installed for my car since I almost had an accident from a bad driver last week. I texted Juan, and was able to get a reasonable quote including hardware & installation. From the time I dropped off the car, it took only a few hours to get it installed. I got the Thinkware U1000 plus model, with the capabilities of front and back recordings. I was pleased with the professional installation, and quick tutorial of how to use the device. I recommend asking Juan if you need a dash cam installed, or looking for other services he provides. Juan did it again. I started to notice fine swirls in the black glossy center console. He was able to build a template and apply protective, hydrophobic film to the plastic. Looks great and it'll do a great job at keeping it looking new. read more

Stopped by and got my dash cam installed by Juan and he is amazing at what he does. He takes pride in his work and it really shows. Customer service 10000/10! Never had an experience like this before from any shop before. Would recommend him ten times over to anyone! I will be back in the future for any other needs I have and I know I'll be in good hands! Juan installed a car alarm for me back in 2021. They are awesome! Highly recommend. Today I went back for a fix and they did not disappoint. When I'm ready for A new stereo and speakers I'll be back. Thanks, Juan read more

January 2026 Julio greeted me warmly. I immediately knew I was in the right place. My pioneer sound system-Bluetooth-GPS and specifically my back up camera stopped working completely after my car flooded from the sun roof. I asked Julio to check the wiring in the trunk. Upon my return from coffee on 4th St, Julio had taken the trunk apart and checked the wiring which was perfect. Then he adjusted the main controls on the Pioneer system and connected my iphone to the Pioneer Bluetooth system so I could accept calls in the car. Julio also connected my iphone gps directions to sound through the console. I was overwhelmed with the results. Price was more than reasonable. I was invited back for free tune-ups to my now functional sound system and backup camera. I am certain that I will return to use the shop's excellent services. Definitely 5 stars! read more

Juan and Julio are friendly. I had them install my Dash Cam. The work came out fantastic. Highly recommended!

Rob and Julio helped me with CarPlay installation for my 2017 Subaru Forester. They stuck it out with me through thick and thin to make sure I left satisfied. There was hissies with my head unit, but they went above and beyond to not over fix the problem, but educate me on what was happening along the process. Rob especially showed extreme professionalism and was a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend his quality of service. read more

Went by on Friday and explained what issue I had with my speakers. Made an appointment for Monday. I pulled up,, owner stopped what he was doing to honor my appointment, fixed the issue within minutes. Talked about what to do with my sound in the future, brands, set up, everything. Customer service was on point from beginning to end!! Will be back!! read more

Solid dashcam install with these guys. Brought in my own cam and was in and out within an hour. Charged a reasonable cost to install it and were a delight to interact with. Been super happy with the work and would happily go back! read more

I went here to get an alarm and reverse camera installed on my truck. Rob was great and straight forward he had me in and out in a day.

Rob and the crew did a fantastic job adding a subwoofer to my sound system. He explained everything very thoroughly and asked questions about my wants and preferences. I will definitely be going back gor some of the other services his shop provides. Gary C read more

Juan, owner of JG Audio & Alarm, recently installed dash cams I had purchased on two of my vehicles. I chose to work with him because of the plethora of positive reviews I had read about him online. Add me to the list of those who have good things to say about Juan. The quality of his work is outstanding. Even with a flashlight, there are no clues that he had to open and close sections during the installation. Equally important, he is very pleasant to deal with and his prices are fair. read more

Rob was incredible! He installed my radio in just an hour, and was so nice and professional

What can I say? Once again JG Audio has hooked up another vehicle for me!! This time I got a full PPF matte wrap, windows tinted, & all my aftermarket accessories installed. My baby is HOT!! Again...friendly & excellent service! They always address all of my concerns & weren't bothered when I asked 1000 questions! And they're not afraid to think "outside the box" to come up with alternative solutions to make sure things fit right! You cannot go wrong with JG audio!! read more

They have done great work on 3 of my cars and I highly recommend them. I've had them do clear plastic wraps, Ceramic coatings and window tinting. Also a major stereo expansion in 2 of my cars. Always top notch! read more

Beautiful Ceramic Coating to protect the paint on my car. My car is just 2 years old, and after I paid off the loan last year, I was visiting a friend whose 15 year old car had fading and oxidizing paint on the hood. I asked them, "How do I keep THAT from happening to MY car?" We searched on Google and YouTube and the most sensible action was to get a ceramic coating put on the car. I asked two different auto body shops in Berkeley, that I had great experiences with in the past when I needed repairs after accidents, if they did the ceramic coating. They both did not - but they both recommended JG Audio. I called JG Audio, they said drop by any time for an estimate, and once we talked I got scheduled to drop the car off a few weeks later for the work. They did need it for several days, but that's because they put a great deal of labor into polishing out all the scratches before doing the coating. (I'm guilty of driving my car through automatic car washes with lots of scrubby brushes and scratchy curtains... never again!) My Hyundai Sonata has a rare color: Carbon Blue, which looks basically black, but with blue and purple sparkles when you look at it in just the right light. I got the Gold package - 4 coats of ceramic coating. I figured, "Why skimp out now? Just get the best job done that you can." That's because, I know that if my car is looking like my friend's was... in 5-10 years from now.... I'd either want a whole new paint job or a whole new car. So, the reasonable financial logic was to pay for the ceramic coating now, while the car is still relatively fresh, which cost a lot less than a new paint job would have. When I picked up my car from them, it looked totally brand new! Probably better actually, than when I picked it up from the dealership 2 years ago. They even detailed the inside (to my surprise) and threw in a free car wash 2 weeks after the job was done. I highly recommend these guys if you're looking into getting a ceramic coating done for your paint job. I can't say anything bad about the process or the decision. read more

This is a great shop - Rob put a new Pioneer head unit and backup camera into my old SUV - makes a huge difference, now we can back with confidence and use Carplay or Android auto, well worth it just for the safety improvement. System works perfectly and the work was done in half a day. Pricing was fair and Rob's recommendations were dead on - nothing we didn't need and the sound is great. To be contrasted with competitors that wanted to load the car up with high end audio gear we did not need. Take all your car audio needs to JG, they are efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly and will do your job well for a fair price read more

I have a 2012 Scion IQ that I needed the car's radio and speakers replaced with something that had car play and a backup camera. I shopped around and JG Audio & Alarm gave the best quote and were able to take me the next day. I was VERY pleased with the install and they took the time to show me how to operate the new system. They were fast and friendly and did a great job. Looks like the new system came with the car! read more

I have been going to J.G. Audio for the past five years now and will say that the service recently was just as great as it was initially. Without going into detail as to the work I had done, Rob has always been accommodating and responsive, even answering the phone when I called on a Saturday not knowing that the hours had changed. He explains the scope of the work being done, does not try to sell me anything that I don't need, is always professional, respectful, kind, and easy to work with, and takes care of my car as though it was his own. When I experienced a problem with the item that he installed in my car, he immediately took care of the problem, without me having to make an appointment. I recently needed an upgrade to my system, and not only was there no charge for the installation, but he refused to accept even a tip. I appreciate Rob's integrity and the way in which he does business. J.G. is my go-to for anything related to my current and future vehicles, and I am absolutely pleased to refer friends, family, church family, and anyone else to this business, and especially to recommend Rob as the installer! read more

These guys are the most amazing people. !!!! Today, I drove my new ( used ) Jeep into the shop. I thought maybe I needed a different stereo as it was buzzing when I tried to turn the volume up. Instead of selling me a new system ( I woukd have bought one if advised), they instead helped me change a bunch of stuff in the settings, and made my system sound great. Who does that? !!!! I would send anyone here. A lot of people can make good sound; these are good people who are trustworthy, and generous. That is hard to come by these days. 500 stars. Good people deserve good business. Take yours there!! read more

Juan is essentially an all-star when it comes to working on vehicles. I've known Juan for over 15 years, and he has serviced my Porsche Turbo, Mercedes, and most recently, my Mom's 2009 Honda RAV4. Exceptional service on my 2017 VW GTI. They spent alot of time going over my options for modifying/improving my window tinting, and using high quality 3M products completely transformed my car and driving experience in one day. Small, local shop, with very attentive staff who took time at the beginning and end of the service to describe eveything. Besides their great attitude, you know that you're in good hands in an auto shop, when the shop itself is impeccable. Floor is spotless, tools are stacked neatly, products are neatly stored too, and at the end of the service they wiped the car down with a mircrofiber cloth. Pretty much excellent service and excellent shop. read more

I brought my 2011 RAV 4 to JG Audio to update the sound system. . Jack quickly diagnosed the problem and for a reasonable price suggested installing a new AV Receiver with Apple Play, Backup camera, Bluetooth and more. Trust these guys to take care of your car or truck. 5 stars? Tons of great comments? Local? Owner operated? Was this real? When I was looking for a East Bay audio business, I was pretty guarded; most had some serious questionable practices and I dreaded the process, since I don't mind DIY. When I stumbled across JG Audio & Alarm, I was crunched for time, and reached out to inquire about pricing on installing a new-in-the-box Sony system for my 2000 Tundra, replacing the original factory unit. (I also wanted to add a rear backup camera.) So I call and Juan answered. I ask a few questions, he's super helpful and friendly. He asks me to call Rob at the shop, saying he's out until 11/12/20. Juan was on vacation in the north shore Hawai'i!! (I apologized for taking up his time, but he was very cool about it, and we chatted a bit more about the island, where I lived for 10 years.) So I made an appointment with Rob, took the truck in, and a couple hours later it was all done! Rob was unbelievably helpful in explaining the various advantages of my new system, the wiring harness and the placement of the camera. They keep a clean, organized shop. Honestly, stop looking. Call Juan or Rob. They won't SELL you. This is a perfect example of a small, successful, honest LOCAL BUSINESS. read more

I've done business with this shop multiple times for tint and clear bra installation. I highly recommend them. Very professional.

When I was shopping for a car stereo I found this Yelp ad and read the great reviews. I was also looking all over the Bay Area for someone to build/fabricate an idea I had to building a removable sleeping platform for my Toyota FJ Cruiser to use in road trips. I called 4-5 places and none of them could do it. When I went to get the a new stereo installed I told Rob my idea for the back and he offered to build it for a great price. Rob & Juan ended up installing a killer sound system along with a badass removable sleeping platform with storage underneath. I highly recommend going out of your way if you need a sound system and to get great work custom work done for a good price. read more

I was referred to JG from a friend of mine who is more familiar with Berkeley/East Bay than myself. It's no surprise these guys have have a "Top Notch" rating here on Yelp..... But here is the kicker, they work for it !!! A perfect balance between KNOWLEDGE, SKILL and SERVICE What a concept !!! They did some window tint for me on my Mini Clubman, worked with me on the different values. Since I often carry very expensive camera packages in this car we went with Limo tint 5% on the rear sides, 20% on the rear double doors and 70% on the front doors. I'm very happy with the end result and feel comfortable about talking to them about some future 12volt work I have coming up. read more

My experience at JG Audio was excellent! They installed an aftermarket radio in my daughter's 2005 Prius so she can listen to her music via Bluetooth or aux cord from her iPhone. Both Rob and the other guy (sorry I don't recall your name!) were friendly, helpful and direct. No sleazy sales behavior. They did the work same day. I highly recommend them and am happy to support a local Berkeley shop! read more

They did a great job with my window tint and dashcam installation. Quick and professional.

Idk how they've managed to obtain 5 stars. Anyway. I made an apt last week to have my subwoofer installed. Arrived at exactly 12pm for my apt. He says it should be done around 330. He calls me at 3:03 and proceeds to tell me he hasn't started it yet ctfu. The audacity of some people. I don't respect you at all for that. Then thought I was going to stay another 3 hours to instal it LOL. You could have let me known way sooner. I suggest paying more for elsewhere. This business ain't it. And ill definitely have Mercedes look at my car make sure no parts were stolen you never know with this janky car place. Byee -IDK why you would even respond LYING. My appointment was definitely at 12. Of course you'd say that to try and justify your lack of professionalism. When I arrived I said "hello I have an apt at 12" never did you correct me and say it was at 11(which it wasn't) Don't insult my intelligence, just take accountability, wasted my time. read more

I scoured Yelp before I decided to call Juan. After describing some issues with my car, he gave me a reasonable quote- replacing the radio and an interior detail on a car that has never been cleaned on the inside! He worked around my crazy work schedule to book me for a Saturday morning. It was a little bit difficult to find his place, but that's the only draw back. Juan is a really friendly and mellow guy. He's the only one working at this shop but he gets.it.done. When I got my car back, it looked like I had just driven it off of the lot. I'm SHOCKED that he was able to get all the gross melted chocolate/honey/dirt/sand/who knows what else out of my seats. Seriously though. This guy is a genuinely nice guy. He's not a ... stereotypical "car guy". I don't know how else to describe him. He's a person who thoroughly enjoys his work and takes pride in it. (Check out his trophies!) You can trust him. I'll be sure to go here for any other car needs that he can fix. A new loyal customer! read more

I came to Rob and Juan with a laundry list of things I needed done to my 2016 Ford Focus RS. As a new car owner, you can imagine my trepidation. Here's what they did for me: 1) Security System- 5x10 digital alarm system DSM 350 Smart Start w/ GPS 506T Glass Break Sensor 507M Digital Tilt/Motion Sensor 2) 3M Paint Protection Film- Full Front End Coverage with Custom Wrapped Bumper. Roof w/ Antenna R & R. Custom A-Pillars and Rocker Panels 3) Exterior/ Interior Detail with Paint Sealant, Wax, and Scotch Guard. 4) Installation of Mud Flaps and after market lug nuts 5) Application of Opticoat to Wheels and Calipers. 6) Blackvue-Installation of Front and Rear Camera with Power Adapter. I can now track my car by GPS and view the status of the alarm on my cell phone. Worked perfectly with the valet this weekend in Monterey and the dash cams provided 24/7 monitoring. The detail and the clear bra job looks beautiful. Rob and Juan did a great job on everything and paid attention to every detail. They were both very friendly and helpful, and made me feel comfortable to come back with any issues. I can't recommend Rob and Juan enough.
