Terrible owner and terrible service. Blamed me for his technicians shoddy work. I am now having to hire another plumber to come out and fix this guys mess. Refused to answer my calls and texts, I gave this company every opportunity to make this right. He was also arrested in a sting operation in 2016 for operating without a license. Our nozzle fell off due to it not be connected correctly. Failed to realize there was never any issues with the original equipment. Thoroughly check out this guy before you hire. Not sure if this was incompetence or a total scam job. Had our water heater descaled plus a few other jobs. Hot water then stopped working. Was told there is a "slight" chance this can occur in the descale process (they never told me that). Said I would need my water heater replaced and that would be $5000+ at minimum - they could do it right now, blamed it on track homes and the risk of descaling. Prior to this, they were once a no show and then late ...should have been my red flags. We decided to not go with them for the water heater replacement. Later in the day I decided to see if maybe it was just a circuit that went out. On my way to the circuit breaker I noticed a power button on the water heater that wasn't turned on. I pressed the button and guess what, it worked IMMEDIATELY. So it felt like a big fat scam. Would not recommend to anyone. read more

Galvanized hose bib snapped off due to rusting/corrosion, forcing me to shutdown water to the entire home. Sid picked up the phone within 2 rings, asked for pictures of the damage and immediately gave me a reasonable quote while still on the phone. Explained to me very clearly that it may be possible to removed the rusted threads of the old bib from the copper piping and quoted me on that job, less than $200. If removing the broken galvanized pipe threads failed, they'd have to redo the entire assembly. However, he'd put that original quote towards redoing the assembly, rather than charging me for a failed fix, and then for a new fix on top of it. Sid, the owner, came out in person with one of his plumbers within the hour. They were extremely friendly and professional. They walked me through every step as they were working on the pipe to make sure I understood what was happening, and why. They were successful in removing the galvanized pipe threads (I think they were more relieved than I was), and set me up with a new solid brass nipple and hose bib. Extra long in fact because I have more galvanized pipe around the area, and they wanted to make sure there were no more similar issues in the future. (I guess part of the rusting issue was due to electrolysis, or something along those lines, due to the mixture of different metals) Overall, I am extremely satisfied with their handiwork, their professionalism, and how fast they were able to help service me. The owner Sidney is a fraud and does shoddy work, at best. He tore my home apart and left my project incomplete during last Thanksgiving. My kitchen sink was taken out and never put back. This is how we had to spend our Thanksgiving last year. He also tried setting the new shower pan he was installing in concrete with chunks of rock in it, even while his worker Jerry kept insisting that he needed to use mortar and not concrete. Not to mention he tells nothing but lies. Please, do yourself a favor and save your money to hire an honest contractor that knows what he is doing. read more

My husband and I had an issue with our sink leaking so we called plumbers on a Sunday morning. My husband was given a window and left his law school class a little early to be home for the plumber. Well during the time frame he was given, NO ONE SHOWED UP. So my husband called, and they said after the plumber was done with his current job, he would show up. Well, guess what? NO ONE SHOWED UP, AGAIN. So we tried texting, and we get, "sorry my son had my phone" and "plumber is done for the day and would like to RESCHEDULE." Our time was literally wasted from the very beginning. When I got home from work and our sink was still leaking, I decided to call the number from my phone and have a talk with the owner of the business for such AWFUL customer service. Well, he didnt have much to say to me, just "we dont normally work on sundays." MESSAGE TO THE OWNER: DONT MAKE APPOINTMENTS ON DAYS YOU DONT WORK, WE HAVE JOBS TOO Such a big waste of our time. We did get a follow up text from the owner : he will give us double the discount for the inconvenience. Honestly, to me it's more about the quality of the customer service and the way you treat your customers. So no, we dont want your discount. We just wanted to be treated with respect. I was calling different plumbers to see if I could find someone who could come out to fix a leak that had caused extensive water damage and had left messages at several plumbers. I got a call back from 5th Generation within an hour and a plumber was able to come over the same day after his other work. He really was wonderful. The repair required a couple of valves that he needed to go get, which took some time, and then it took a while to get the job done, plus he cleaned out the faucet, which I didn't even realize was clogged. It took until well after dark for him to get the job completed, but there was not one peep of complaining, just happiness to help. I am very grateful for the terrific service. read more

I had interesting situation with these people. They came out and made an assessment of the issues with sink leaks, gas leaks and other issues. I bought brand new faucet and have them replace it. Less than a month later, it started leaking. I paid over $600.00 for the whole job. Upon researching I learned there are several reasons why it can be leaking already, and one of them is over tightening. I sent them the video. They refused to come out and see it. Instead, they told me they will charge me another $112.00 for replacing it because by looking at the video it is leaky. The owner was very rude to my wife over the phone, and didn't care. In fact, he was yelling - That is not how you deal with upset customers. He said if we didn't get the faucet from them, then it is not their fault. What I learned in life, if someone tells points out your mistake (the fact that he decided it is faulty faucet by just looking at the video), and you get offended, then YOU HAVE AN EGO PROBLEM. That definitely is ego issues there. I thought I found a plumber that I can rely for my rental property; however, this is a place I will NEVER, NEVER go again. Called to schedule someone to come out and look at a toilet that was giving us problems. Was told someone would be at the house the next day at a certain time. After waiting for them all day nobody ever showed up. (This is not the first time this has happened but wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt as sometimes things happen that are beyond your control). But now that this has happened twice where they scheduled an appointment with us, we wait all day, and they don't show up - that's a pattern. Called a different plumber who came out the same day and did all the work I needed for a great price. Won't use 5th Generation ever again. read more

I live in Sonoma county. My elderly parents, who needed a shower valve fixed, live in Elk Grove. After checking Angis List, and realizing I had to pay for a membership, and not wanting to parse through a bunch of quotes, I looked on craigslist. Besides my mom had already been without a hot shower for too long. Anyway, I found an ad underhousehold services. Figured a handy man could get the job done and didn't want to pay more for a licensed contractor. I sent a text and was a bit surprised when I saw 5th gen in the caller ID. Sid took my call and diagnosed the problem from a single pic. I was even happier when he gave me the estimate. It was right in line with what I wanted and expected! So we made an arrangement for me to pay over the phone while he was at my folks house and that he'd call me. The appointment was for the following morning. Well, I had totally forgotten about the appointment until much later that afternoon. I hadn't heard anything from my parents or Sid. I called my parents and they said it had been fixed and was working better than ever. I asked if they had paid. They said, "No." I mention all this cause it goes to show that there are people and businesses that are honest,fair and trustworthy. Whatever you do, DO NOT deal with this person or this company. The estimator broke in to my neighbor's back door and then proceeded to quote me on fixing the wrong address toilet. When he called me with the quote, we figured out out that he broke into the neighbor's house which should be reported to the police. Then he went back to my house, scared the crap out of my employees, and proceeded to quote me $5,000.00 as a quote to a simple toilet leak... Wax ring and a new flange was this issue. $325 for a fix from Newflow. DO NOT LET ANYONE FROM THIS COMPANY IN YOUR HOUSE! Use Newflow in this area. They are awesome! read more

Our hot water heater failed at a really bad time. Sid shower up with the replacement water heater and had it installed in record time. It was a pretty tight space to work in, so we were appreciative that the work was able to be done so quickly and effortlessly. Nothing but good reviews for the 5th Generation Plumbing crew. Especially want to give a shout out to Jerry and Ron who spent a lot of time under our house doing a complete repipe, water and waste. Jerry fixed a lot of pipes and vents in our 65 year old house which has never had better water pressure and the sinks and showers have never drained as well as they do now. My business used them for a big job. The owner came out and looked over the job and gave a fair bid. His worker came out after we got the approval from corporate office to start the job. The worker did a phenomenal job. He was quick and thorough. My issue lies in what happened after the job was complete. We needed his W9 information for our records. After several months of calling and emailing we have not received it. Not sure why he is not wanting to provide this simple information. If you are a business and want work done from this company, I would suggest that you get the W9 beforehand and do not pay him until you have it. My mistake was trusting that he would follow through with sending the information out to my corporate office. Lesson learned. read more

Schedule for Wednesday (10/17/18) Appt window 8:00-10:00 still no call, no excuse, phone goes straight to voice mail - no text reply back. I needed to have my sewer line snaked from my house to the county connection. I called Fifth Generation Plumbing and they set up a convenient time for me. Then I went outside and looked at the place where the 2-way connection was. I found that with this recent rain and sunshine it was so over-grown that it didn't look to me that the plumber could even get at it, so i called them back and said i'd have to postpone them until i could get someone to clear it out. The very courteous young lady I spoke with told me she thought the man she'd send could still find the access and get to it. Jerry arrived at precisely the time i'd been given. Much to my surprise, he said, "No problem," got right to work clearing out the 6-foot tall weeds and took care of the job just fine.
