Called this company due to a sewage leak. They came out quickly and took care of the issue. Due to the leak being an HOA issue I provided the information for payment. I let the HOA know they would be contacting them for payment. 30 days later I received a phone call from the company stating if I do not pay by end of day a lien would be placed on my home. I questioned why I had not been contacted prior in order to push the HOA to rush the payment. I was met with a rude attitude stating that there had been multiple emails with no response. I again stated there was no communication with me and I was met with attitude again. Overall, satisfied with the service, however, the receptionists need to fix how they communicate with their clients. read more

They get two stars because the actual work was excellent. However they charged $4250 for replacing a shower tempering valve, some of the piping, and the exterior components due to a risky leak near the wall. If I had had any time to spend vetting costs I bet a significantly cheaper option could have been found, as the resulting work took one technician, Jose, less than 6 hours, including 2 trips for supplies. Greg was insistent on "by the job" pricing but his numbers are clearly just made up to add up to $4250 on the invoice, because real by the job numbers don't conveniently add up to a round total. I do not think they are providing fair price, and would avoid using them in the future without much clearer pricing or time to compare. Definitely not a good emergency option. Additionally my signature was applied to a section of the contract/invoice that claimed all work had been completed to satisfaction and reviewed by me before any work even began. While ultimately I have no complaints so far about the quality of the work, this is not acceptable. What if there had been issues? It would look like I had signed off, making any attempt to argue that the work product was unacceptable difficult. Their workers seem excellent but shady business practices make this a no recommendation from me. read more

I reached out on Yelp to get quotes from various plumbers for a laundry box install. Mr. Drain was the only plumber that could come out the day I requested (Saturday morning) so I set up a time for them provide an estimate. Rory came out at the planned time frame that was scheduled and was able to give a quote fairly quick. Another positive was that Rory was super friendly with my 3.5 year old (who generally is shy with new people). I asked if he could quote another project in our bathroom that I threw out last minute and was able to get a quote (replace overflow waste drain under bathtub). Rory said both jobs could be completed that day, so I agreed to contract with Mr. Drain. Rory got another Mr. Drain plumber (Alejandro) to come out to my house later that day to start work. Alejandro had to go to a few stores to get all the parts for the job, but he was able to finish the job before it got dark outside. Alejandro was great and was able to point out some things he saw in my crawl space and give me some maintenance tips. All in all, I am happy with the work and the final price. I note the quote was higher than another plumber I called, but Mr. Drain was able to do the estimate and work the day I needed it, so it was worth the higher quote. Mr. Drain Plumbing did an extremely poor job on a water line repair and toilet installation at my home. The work was sloppy and unprofessional from start to finish. They left a mess behind, including old plumbing parts, trash, and concrete debris scattered on the bathroom floor. Instead of properly re-sleeving the new pipe in PVC, they wrapped it in flimsy plastic. The new water line was run visibly over the face of the sheetrock rather than coming up through the foundation following the path of the original line. The valves they installed don't match, and they didn't even bother installing flanges for the lines. Jose, the technician made at least three trips to Home Depot over the three days it took him to do the job. I would not recommend them to anyone for plumbing work. read more

I called for a leaking shower valve. I was told 90 minutes max, and Elijah arrived in 60. He was polite and professional. Fixed it, checked it double checked it. My only complaint is the price. After diagnosis, he quoted me $371. 2 hours, maybe 2.5 including drive time, with a $30 part. But I was desperate - I had waited 30 hours with no water for my home warranty company to send someone. $55,000 for 15 man days to replace house drain and water lines. I can't access to judge the quality of their work, but I feel ripped off.

Friday morning my shower was backing up and I knew I had a root problem so I quickly called Mr. drain and they came out later that day to diagnose. They showed me the problem with the camera and offered me three different options. I picked the best option for me and we negotiated a price that we were both comfortable with and they got to work right away. They replaced my main line or most of it anyway and avoided cutting any concrete. They dug two holes then replaced the pipe all in less than 24 hours with almost zero downtime. Thoroughly pleased with the experience I received from Collin today. He arrived earlier than expected which I appreciate. I was initially concerned I had a leak in my sewer line and showed him the area I believe to be causing issues. It was obvious he had years of experience and was able to describe the issues I was having and what I could do to mitigate that didn't require any plumbing work. Thankfully it wasn't the sewer line however after a camera inspection recommended installing a clean out given the age of my home and how i had potential water being backed up. We called for a service since our dishwasher broke down & water leaked. We wanted to be sure it wasn't a bigger piping issue. The two gentlemen who initially arrived were punctual and communicative however were unable to identify the leak and had to call the supervisor. When the supervisor arrived, he tried to upsell us a whole piping system re-do of $50,000, again, still unable to figure out the dishwasher situation. Luckily, we always get multiple quotes and when we told the supervisor that he came off as pushy trying to get us to sign something that day. We did pay to cut drywall to ensure it was not a piping issue - and they cashed in our check TWICE. I called the office two days later and they replied "oh yeah... we noticed that..." luckily I got it reimbursed but the whole situation felt like a scam. We received multiple other quotes, with plumbers who agreed we should look into our pipes but not for the price quoted by Mr. Drain. The other plumbers were much more reassuring about our dishwasher. I called a handyman, got it fixed within a reasonable time and quote. Needless to say, I'll be going elsewhere. read more

Oh M GEE!! I just happened to luck out by asking for an onsite quote to look at a clogged french drain. Greg showed up on time, was super polite and professional. He went right to work and sent a camera into the drain. Within 20 minutes he showed me the stuff he pulled out! Wow! Then, as I was in the middle of a home inspection as the buyer, the pest inspector let me know there was water under the house. Greg said "do you want me to take a look"? Found out the the sewer main line pipe is damaged and needed to be replace. Ben went to work immediately to get me my estimate and the details. I used Yelp's project request, and selected Mr. Drain due to its reviews. Boy, was that a mistake. First, the good and thus the 1 star. Yes, they responded promptly and scheduled me w/in 1 day. Second, they adequately identified the sewage blocking issue, but were not able to remediate w/o taking the toilet off. The bad. Where do I start. First, they sent someone who kept saying that he's a "supervisor", but he did not have all the right tools and were not able to correctly locate the sewer line w/ the detector that he had. Second, he tried to upsell me to the tune of $900 by indicating that I had to replace the toilet flange. Mind you this toilet was not leaking and have never leaked. Third, he recommended that I replace the sewer line w/ bursting. Something that I actually agree with, but not for $25k. At the end, after spending probably over 4 hours at my place, I was able to work out a deal with his manager who was onsite to just snake the line and put back my toilet. At this point, I just wanted these doods out of my property, and have my toilet working again. I gladly paid the higher than usual $480 and end the awful "car buying" like experience. Never again Mr. Drain. As for the line, I contacted a more reputable and more experienced bursting company who just finished working on the line today for 1/2 the price. Called Mr. Drain when our water heater stopped working. Their technician arrived and I watched him as he read a sticker on the unit that says it was made in 2015. He says they typically last 8-10 years and then asks me if we wanted to replace it. I asked how he knows it needs replacing when you haven't done anything but read a sticker. Educate me, I said. He laughed at me. So I ask him is that funny? And he says he doesn't understand why I'm "giving him attitude." I had enough and invited him to leave. Asked for a free consultation and they exaggerated issues with our home and fear-mongered away from the use of Home Depot and electric water heater options. I'm no longer interested in their services. For example, they "tested" my water pressure and said I had it at 90 PSI and how alarming that is (which sure, if true). I bought a water pressure tester for about $10 at Home Depot and tested the water pressure myself which showed a healthier 70 PSI. I also called the Carmichael Water District & they came out to test the water pressure at guess what, 70 PSI. Mr. Drain also quoted extremely high compared to other companies for services they wanted to charge us. In the end, I am going to use the SMUD rebate to get a new water heater. That will be about $2k off and this rebate is not income based FYI people. There were many other recommendations I had from neighbors after this incident. I just wanted (originally) to go with plumbers close to me that looked good on the internet. I just don't think they should attempt to scam young people because they have no clue what jobs we have, analytical skills, that kind of thing... family, neighbors, and of course internet can help you make an informed decision despite not being a plumber. Even our neighbor next door thought their quotes were outrageous & I also felt uncomfortable with all the income-based questions they asked me. It just felt like they were fishing for money and not actually here to help. They should have focused on the issue at hand and explained what they really saw. I'm shopping around like a good homeowner should. With all the good reviews here, I can only assume they are paid or they chose me as one of the customers to scam... young, female, POC, they were short on funds that day... who knows why. I'm not happy with them though. That's not a kind business. --- UPDATE: Please don't call my husband again and don't make your wife speak for you. Wow! Just wow! Our shower stopped working so we called them out to fix it. They were very prompt and came out the following day, but the guy that came out used some tool to look in the wall and told us that our shower cartridge was broken, and they tried quoting us $3000 to fix it. AND he said it would only be temporary. Now, mind you, I immediately went on Google when he told us what the issue was and it says on Google that it should cost between $200-$400. So then I sent out messages through yelp to three other plumbing services and told them what our issue was and asked how much they would charge. Two of them quoted us $285 plus the part, and another one said that it should cost between $200 to $400. So we went with one of those guys they came over and fixed it with no issue, and it was $340 total after buying the part and a brand new handle for the shower. These guys here are a complete rip off! The guy also kept staring at all of the art and pictures on our wall (that was definitely not worth anything) as he was talking to me. I got the feeling that he was trying to gauge how much money we had and then gave us that ridiculous quote. read more

I appreciated the quick response and quote of $93 to drain a clog, which was the final payment I paid. Ashley called around 11:30am to let me know that the tech would arrive later than 12. And received a call from Greg that he was on his way with an estimated time of arrival. I appreciated the update as I wasn't sitting around guessing. The drain was cleared within minutes. I believe the whole process was less than 30 minutes (draining + Greg showing me the insides of the pipe + providing me quotes for additional service that would be important to prevent clogs again).
