Well, I have been seeing Dr. Marder for a period of time now. I have to say he offers a lot of naturopathic and unconventional types of treatments which I really appreciate. I think he is a qualified and knowledgeable dentist. I love that his regular visits include an analysis of the bacteria in your mouth and they have ways to treat this if too much of the wrong bacteria is present. I love that the front desk person is always nice and friendly. What I don't love: (1) I don't like feeling like my time with Dr. Marder is rushed. I like to process and understand what options are available to me. I like to ask questions. Sometimes I feel like he only has 4 minutes with me and then he is off to the next patient. (2) Their 48 hour cancellation policy. I had left an email and voice message over the weekend and was literally lectured about their policy not including weekends. Things happen. This was the first time this ever happened and I didn't like being scolded like I was a 12 year old by their staff. (3) I caught them over charging me and also feel like I've had more done than was necessary in my mouth. Now I have to check everything out before agreeing to a service and question if I'm being charged correctly. (4) One treatment went wrong. I have issues stemming from this and no follow up to see how I am doing ever occurred. I was charged $750.00 to have a gap in my teeth filled. My entire filling was replaced, then later, because something didn't feel right, more work was done which further caused my tooth to be traumatized. I'm trying to save my tooth and have done some additional treatments with Dr. Marder for this. No one ever offered to reimburse me or check on me to see how things are or even apologize. read more

EDT - removing 1 star. UPDATE; Zero bone regrowth, wants me to go to an oral surgeon now. This was not discussed prior to extraction. Symptoms gone, so the decision to remove the root canal was good. Methods and practices may need to be improved, if I am correct in my assessment. Patience may remain an issue here. The Dr was too distracted or busy to answer my questions about cadaver or synthetic bone regrowth substrate. As I understand it, I got nothing but spun-down blood. I was shocked. No bone regrowth at all. He rocked my tooth back and forth hard during the extraction, and my head moved significantly when he did. Later I learned this is a sure fire way to break the bone, which it did. MUST READ- The Toxic Tooth (pg 321covers extractions). The molar should be extracted in sections, which takes time. My fault- I should have been more forceful. The site was cleaned very well. No infection. Symptoms are still gone, as I was certain they would be. I'm grateful there are holistic dentists bucking the ADA dogma of denial. Therefore I'm only removing one star and not making a huge stink over this. Another family member had an awful experience there as well. PREVIOUS REVIEW: It was obvious that Dr Marder was a sharp, probably gifted, dentist/oral surgeon. I went in to assess a previous root canal. A list of problems I never had before occurred after the root canal. I love the holistic and toxin-free mindset here. I watched lectures on youtube regarding the damage that the resultant toxins from root canals cause in the body. EDIT to add; I just had an abscessed molar and the root canal molar in front of it removed. My back right molar was sore for weeks and the x-ray showed a 'Mickey Mouse ear" abscess in the far back right molar. I decided to have him yank it and the root canal molar just in front. The wisdom tooth behind was removed via oral surgeon decades previous and it was always a deep pocket. He cleaned all 3 sockets; saline wash, drill, ozone soaked gauze, laser. Quick & painless. Blood draw done by staff to spin my blood down to use platelets for bone graft . He tries to use platelets only but in my case I think he used some synthetic graft material as opposed to cadaver material (which I was not opposed to if it was freeze dried or de-mineralized freeze dried. He used membrane covering over the grafts. I took no pain pill, used no laughing gas. The woman that injected the Novocain was pro and it didn't hurt. Dr Marder was quick, focused, and painless. He called me that night. 2 Weeks later I had the sutures removed and the healing was looking excellent. When I went in, and when I brought my daughter in I had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately I was given false comfort in them telling me that they accepted my insurance. Once I got my bill, I was unable to pay it, and have since been served papers not once but TWICE by the companies that they chose to sell the default too. On top of that when my husband went in (after my glowing recommendation and before the papers getting served) he was basically told his mouth was f---ed up when he was a kid by his dentist and that instead when he was a kid his dentist should have done ______. This did not help. So now after having been served papers WAY too many times which I consider a punishment for having the NERVE to trust that when they said they accepted our insurance we'd be covered...let's just say it was a HORRIBLE experience overall, despite how nice the doctor and his staff where to me when I was signing my life away. So unless you are really rich, or have NO doubt that you'll keep your job, save yourself the headache. At least my hospital bills were pardoned when I wasn't able to pay them, this place will sell them to the highest bidder who will take you to court and sue the pants off of you. read more

I am 79 years old with a history of illnesses related to my thyroid, lungs, back and stomach. During the last year I have had 3 dentists and another medical practitioner suggest I should have between 1 and 4 teeth extracted in order to treat decay and improve my overall health. Dr. Marder was recommended because of his reputation for carefully diagnosing what needs to be done and his excellent treatments. After learning of the various diagnoses, he took a 3-D x-ray of my entire mouth and validated the one instance of decay under a crown in a molar that needed to be treated. He removed the crown and the decay which was very close to the nerve and put on a temporary crown. The result was the tooth was saved. Regarding other suspicious teeth, he has recommended I see a Naturopath who specializes in the impact of dental issues on the health of other parts of the body. I appreciate his careful, thoughtful and disciplined approach to dentistry. He desires to minimize the amount of work done in order to preserve as many of my teeth as possible. While he was working on the tooth, I found him to be very efficient and effective. His well trained staff work closely with him. I found them to also be very knowledgeable. They were able to provide additional counseling regarding the care I received. They were also very professional and friendly. I found Dr. Marder to be very friendly. He took great pains to explain everything he found. He followed up with a personal phone call after my visit to see how I was doing. I look forward to continuing to work with Dr. Marder and his staff as I believe he will only do work that is needed to improve my dental health and my overall health. I've been a long time patient of Dr. Rubin so when he sold his practice to Dr. Marder, I was hopeful that the same quality experience would continue. But, sadly it has not. The "money making machine" experience took it's place. We had a consult for some major dental work, where he changed his mind 2-3 times during the consult, never laid out a plan until it was requested in writing, which turned out to be yet again, different from the one discussed in the consult. There was upwards of $50,000 worth of work to be done. When we finally agreed to proceed, he wanted us to consult with another dentist as he wasn't sure he could do it! I will credit the front desk staff with going the extra mile to try to facilitate communication. On another day, instead of cancelling my cleaning when my regular hygienist was ill, they let a "float hygienist" do it and it was the worst cleaning EVER. They should've refunded me my money. I won't be going back to Dr. Marder. In my last experience with him he was callous and condescending. Isn't empathy part of "holistic" practice? I'm not just a set of teeth for him to work on and get paid. He's forgotten what it's like to be compassionate first, overall. I was required to pay in advance $400.00 before the appointment to secure his fees. This dentist sent his nurse to examine my mouth. He did not bother to examine my mouth. This is very unprofessional and unacceptable. This is outrageous dentistry and destroyed my trust in him. I have been to a few dentists, I had been damaged by holistic dentist. We read good reviews about Marder but sadly it turned out to be false. I lost the $350.00 consult fees as I ran out to never return. So angry we asked for the $50 back. This dentist is not the right dentist for me to help me with such lazy attitude. He charged $350, never examined my mouth and was distracted by every movement around him as the dental chairs are in an open environment not a private room. Too bad I wasn't able to get pass the annoying scheduler pretending to be a dentist and not having any ability to understand that I am looking for a second opinion not an comprehensive exam for $264. She even wanted to charge me $100 fee ahead of the appointment, on top of the fact that they don't accept any insurances. On the other hand, they would not deduct for the fact that I had all the imaging done, as well and cleaning, and again, that I only wanted a second opinion - WTF? By the way, I am not sure what dentistry makes mercury fillings anymore. My understanding is that those were outdated some time ago. Finding Dr. Marder was a turning point in my health. I have tremendous anxiety about doctors and dentists, which Dr. Marder could immediately sense. His attention and care put me at ease. He took the time to ask the right questions about my health (dental and otherwise) and after my exam, came back to recommended several inexpensive natural products that would be helpful for my mouth, and referred me to a Naturopath who has since been instrumental in my healing. I have been having dental problems for several years, and have never had a dentist who has taken the time to investigate and address the root cause. I must have had jack-ass written on my forehead when i went in for a regular cleaning. Patient (Me): Do you work with Delta? Some boy/gal at the desk: Sure. We just bill differently, you pay us then we bill them. Patient (Me): Ok. I'll have a cleaning. It costs me nothing (as i have two cleaning per year under my plan). So I paid at the end 400 dollars (and no, I did not get any xrays - thank god) for a cleaning (I know - I'm stupid like that - they must have sensed that). Btw, doctor came in twice: to say hi and bye, otherwise all the work was done by some assistant. So I receive 3 weeks later a letter from delta with what they paid (100). Calling Delta they said they are out of network and they do charge way more than anything they have seen. I'll state again, I never paid anything for my cleanings ever. So now I have 300 dollars less in my pocket for a cleaning that costs $400 (??? - it is probably pure gold they are working with - or they just like to get more gold from idiots like me.). Now, is this a scam or what? Be aware of extreme, not communicated prices, and misunderstandings (more like misleading) that can cost you hundreds of dollars. I am just very glad that I did not get actual work done there, I would have probably had to sell my car or something after that. I can't recommend to anyone, it is a scam. Now, if this was a happy ending (what I should have done): I would have never got to Dr Mitchell and was using the hundreds of dollars to buy my kids a college fund! read more

Great place to get holistic dental care and get rid of your mercury or what not in a safe manner. My only complaint would be that they suggested to me to have some testing done for TMJ, I called ahead to my insurance and found that they covered a little but that was fine. After spending close to $600 or so on the testing turns out my insurance doesn't cover the mouth guard I would need to fix the problem. So I basically paid money to learn how my hurting jaw hurts but I can't afford to fix it. I didn't mind the actual tests themselves and found the results and method very interesting. I wish I would have checked if my insurance covered the guard before I spent all that money on the testing. They also were having me prepay for appointments and then not contacting me when my dental insurance sent them the check. I did get them to stop making me prepay for appointments since my dental insurance covers it anyway. I really enjoy the staff-especially Chris and will continue to go here. They have a beautiful amethyst in the foyer too. But yes, go here for your regular dental work and removing mercury, just make sure you check with your insurance yourself about the mouth guards before running the super expensive test! read more
