I was a patient of Dr. Park for 10+ years and only changed because my new insurance provider didn't cover Fremont Dental. However, when I wanted to get my teeth whitened before my wedding, I went back to Dr. Park. Dr. Park and the technician were thorough in their explanation of the process -- but after I went through the process of getting numbed, I experienced anxiety and had second thoughts about going through with the in-office procedure. Dr. Park and the technician made it very clear that I could change my mind and go with an at-home kit, and that this wasn't a big deal (though they had blocked off time for me in their schedules). Ultimately, the in-office procedure didn't feel right for me, and they fully accommodated my change of plans and made me feel completely comfortable in doing so. I continue to highly recommend Fremont Dental to friends and family. (And their new office is beautiful!) read more

A friend referred me to Fremont dental 5 or 6 years ago and I've been with them ever since. Dr. Kim is gentle, personable and makes her patients feel at ease. I was experiencing a lot of dental issues when I first came in, some resulting from poor treatment received from my prior two dentists, so trust was important to me. Dr. Kim was thoughtful in laying out a treatment plan than put me back on track and worked with me on paying for the services I desperately needed. I was so impressed that I started bringing my kids to her and she has remained consistent. In addition, all of the hygienists and staff at Fremont Dental are equally as friendly and customer service oriented. I have heard great reviews about Dr. Park also. Happy with Dr. Kim for 10+ years and still go there even though I no longer work nearby. Appointments start on time; hygienists are good; they explain all the financials/insurance costs; new offices are swank with TVs and such. I've only needed 2 procedures in 10+ years and both pretty minor, but no complaints. One of them was related to me grinding my teeth while sleeping, and Dr. Kim suggested I get a mouth guard and mentioned that she could fit one for me for hundreds of dollars, or I could go to Bartell's and buy one nearly as good for a few bucks. Initially I was positive in regard to Fremont Dental. Periodically in all ventures untoward complications occur, and the real mark of a business is how they respond to such an unfortunate situation. Fremont Dental desired to replace an old filling in a tooth. After this was completed, I had tooth pain every time I bit on the replaced filling. After 3 trips back they finally offered to replace the filling, but I'm not sure that I trust them at this point. Dr. Kim seemed to listen to my reports with only a thin veil of empathy. I will not be back. This office might offer you the best dental care of your life, but for me they failed when the chips were down. read more

Despite having a rather traumatic softball injury to my mouth and teeth when I was 10 years old wherein the dentist had to manually push my front teeth back into place after they were bashed in so far, the roots were sticking out through the soft bloody pulp that had become a gruesome suggestion of a once healthy set of gums, I'm not one of those people deathly afraid of the dentist. I don't necessarily look forward to it, but X-rays and cleanings are far better than feeling all the strength of a dentist atop me as he pressed and pulled my teeth back into their rightful place. So I can deal with preventative care. And Fremont Dental is a decent place for such care. I've yet to have any kind of major work done there, and cross my fingers I don't ever have to endure the sting of the Novocain needle anytime soon. But as far as X-rays and cleanings go, Dr. Lisa Park and her staff of hygienists are quick and efficient. The office is light and airy, and I love that I can get an appointment as early as 7 a.m. My only complaint is the attitude I've encountered at the front of the office. After my first visit, when I opted to not schedule an appointment to have sealants applied to all my teeth, the receptionist made me feel like a leper because I didn't want to fork over hundreds of dollars of my own money for a costly procedure not covered by my insurance. And at my most recent visit, the same receptionist guffawed at my insurance provider, even though they're in network with that particular provider. Her: They're my *favorite* company to deal with. Me: Are you being sarcastic? Her: Yes. Yes, I am. Me: Well, it's not like I have any choice* in the matter. Her verbal disdain for my insurance provider seemed an inappropriate exchange between staff and patient, and if I'd had my wits about me during my early morning appointment, I might've said something to Dr. Park. But as it were, I nearly forgot about the exchange when I discovered that Dr. Park would be doing my cleaning this time, rather than her regular hygienist, who was out sick. I appreciated the fact that Dr. Park didn't cancel my appointment, but rather, squeezed me into her busy schedule. That's great service. *I realize that I do have a choice, but my employer pays 100% of my insurance coverage, so I can't complain. And besides, they're one of the largest dental insurance providers in the nation, so the receptionist best learn to deal with them. read more

The honeymoon period should have ended by now but I'm still head over heels. A couple of weeks ago part of my gum got a little irritated. I ignored it for a few days but then it got worse, as though the irritation was there to stay. I called Fremont Dental on a Wednesday afternoon and they scheduled me for first thing Thursday morning. Dr. Park found the source of the irritation (part of a popcorn hull had settled under the gum...damn you truffle popcorn...) and removed it, then flushed the area with an antibacterial solution. I was there for less than 10 minutes! Also I had a balance of $11 left from some work I'd had done in July. When I offered to pay it the receptionist thanked me profusely - who thanks people for paying their bills? It really made my morning! read more

I chipped a tooth and was looking for a dentist close by to fix it and then likely take care of some long overdue other stuff. Dr. Park's office was able to get me in the next day, which seemed great. And the front desk staff was pleasant to work with. However, Dr. Park made me incredibly uncomfortable (as in another review) - popping in and then leaving me lying completely horizontal to stare at the dental tools while she finished up with someone else. Then she came back and launched into her sales pitch for periodontal testing and cleaning. I told her I wasn't interested in that - that I have more pressing concerns and don't want to pay for periodontal stuff as I know it's rather spendy and my insurance won't cover much of it. At that point, she refused to treat me for anything. She gave me my x-rays and offered to not charge me for my hour of wasted time. I absolutely would not recommend this place to any friend or foe. read more

I would never think of rating a dentist with 5 starts, but Fremont Dental deserves it for many reasons: 1 - they have early morning appointments, which is nice for working people 2 - they are easy to get to via bus or by parking in their garage with validated parking 3 - the front desk staff is very welcoming (they actually smiled a lot) helping to relive my apprehension about going to the dentist 4 - I was actually called back for my appointment at my scheduled time. I was prepared to wait...and wait...and wait like most other doctor's appointments 5 - the hygentist taking my X-rays was friendly and gentle as she put the X-ray thingy's in my mouth 6 - I didn't wait long to see the dentist 7 - Dr. Park explained exactly what she was going to do and what she was finding during the entire exam 8 - I didn't feel like I was being taken advantage of when given my course of future treatment (yes, I have to get a cavity filled) 9 - I'm actually looking forward to going back. I've been here four times in the last four weeks to get my exams, cleaning, and replacement dental work done (a crown and three fillings). A very nice office with exceptional staff. I've never had a better experience! Pro tip: Ask them for a blankie and 50% nitrous. Then tune your headphones to "Calm Meditation" on Pandora. Both my wife and I used to go here. Parking is convenient, and we always had good interactions with the reception staff, but those were really the only positives. Neither of us were fond of Dr. Kim, who we found cold, disinterested, and visibly annoyed at any questions or personal wish to wait on expensive treatments (even ones they'd say, "well, you don't need it right NOW, but eventually...you should just pay the thousands of dollars now." It seems to be practice to bring you the estimated cost for the procedures they recommend, and wait for you to schedule an appointment then and there in the chair. Switched to a new dentist and are happily working with them on treatments we refused to see Dr Kim for (for cheaper, shockingly enough!). read more

An update... Seven years ago I saw Dr Kim as a new patient. Dr Kim informed me after looking at my x rays that I had cavities in all eight of my molars. I was in my 30s, no cavities life. I'd been seeing dentists every year my entire adult life, and here she was telling me that I had EIGHT cavities out of nowhere all of the sudden, that needed to be drilled and filled? When I protested, Dr Kim was visibly ticked off and condescending, and tried to argue with me. Long story short, I left and never went back. I drove 150 miles to see my old dentist who confirmed I had no cavities; and I found a new dentist in Wallingford (same last name) who confirmed I had no cavities. Last week, seven years after I saw Dr Simone Kim, I got my very *first* filling. A tiny one that was painless to drill without novocaine. I am so glad I didn't let Dr Kim drill HOLES in EIGHT perfectly healthy teeth. read more

Dr Park has been my dentist since moving to Seattle in 1996. She has always been very gentle and professional, while showing concern for my well being. I have had a lot of work done at Fremont Dental and never been disappointed with any of it. The billing has also had the highest amount of professionalism. I know exactly what I am expected to pay before any of the work ever gets done. Upon checkout I pay my bill. The difference between what the actual insurance coverage is and what I pay is minimal at most - maybe a few dollars here or there. I am surprised at some of the negative reviews regarding billing and service. In my 16 years of going to Fremont Dental, Dr Park and all of her hygentist have been fantastic to work with. read more

A co-worker recommended Fremont Dental to me, and I'm glad I went. I'm very good about seeing a dentist every six months, and I had just switched jobs and insurance and my old dentist wasn't in-network, so I tried Fremont Dental. During my initial examination, they took X-rays and pictures of my teeth to evaluate their current state. I hadn't been having any problems, so assumed they'd find nothing. In fact, 5 old fillings had to be replaced. I didn't even know they wore out, but one was cracked down the center, and two had cavities already forming under the filling. How did my old dentist miss this? They even showed me pictures of the fillings where you could see the problem, clear as day. I guess since my previous dentist was old and his equipment wasn't so high-tech, he missed it. After having them replaced, I had to come in twice to have my bite adjusted--a quick, 5 minute procedure requiring no anesthetic. On both occasions, they got me in on the same day and fixed it with no hassle. The price tag was typical, service was thorough and high quality. Would recommend to anyone. read more

I hate the dentist but this place is great. The staff are all super nice and accommodating. I had to have some dental work done and they required someone pick me up after. Everyone I know works, so this was a big problem. Plus, I live right around the corner so I wasn't even driving. Their policy is strict, which is understandable, but they came up with a great solution: they had someone walk me home! That is service!!! read more

I've had work done at every dentist, so I have a hard time complaining about Fremont Dental listing a bunch of work I needed after my first visit. Overall, I would recommend them for the following reasons: * office staff very helpful, looking up my out of pocket ahead of time, and letting me know when I was reaching my limit * When work was recommended, I was well informed, with live camera feeds showing me the issues. * convenient location, parking and hours * nice staff all around Sadly, my company changed ins so I'm forced to switch to a different dentist. read more

Unless you have very solid teeth expect them to take X-rays & burn your insurance coverage for the set of X-rays a year & punt to a colleague for a $ referral. Every time I have been to a dentist I have told them a problem before visiting & EVERY single time I had something done productive during a visit except here. Here it was, hey we do great x-rays etc & then when I mentioned I needed an extraction BEFORE visiting they accomplished nothing other than doing X-rays & referring me to another place to go through the same procedure of X-rays & NOTHING done during a visit because apparently their partners don't use their wonderful X-rays I got billed for. Referral did nothing but repeat the X-rays and waste more time off from work with zero accomplished. $1,000 later I have a duplicate from their "partner" to maybe start building a collection on my time & money. Additionally, I was thoroughly impressed when I had a lecture about determining the underlying causes of my dental problems which were the result of being hit by a drunk driver and having my jaw smashed; I'll do my best not to ever be on a road again as apparently thats their solution or maybe they thought I was lying; who knows. Luckily moving & maybe this is just par for the course up here but I like results from my time & money not the run around here. Sure they're great for routine cleanings but clearly they don't want anything complicated or remotely real dentistry. read more

They're all about customer service at Fremont Dental. I'm one of those many people who hate going to the dentist. HATE. I hate getting the x-rays (I gag on the film), I hate the cleanings (they hurt), and I hate getting fillings (who doesn't?). I had all of the above done at Fremont Dental within a week and a half and they still get a 5-star rating. They'll do whatever they can to minimize your pain and trauma, so feel free to speak up. When Dr. Park gave me the first shot of Novocaine she did it really slowly so it wouldn't hurt. (When the assistant had to give me a second shot it hurt a bunch even though I'd already had the Novocaine on for 10 minutes.) And when she drilled me before filling the cavity I didn't even realize that's what she was doing. read more

Either there have been incredible advances in numbing gel technology over the past few years or Dr. Kim is really good at injecting anesthetic without me being able to feel it at all. It's really amazing. I've been in here quite a few times this year having some stuff redone that my last crappy dentist did poorly and it's been a great experience every time. read more

I've only been to a handful of dentists over my lifetime and I never thought I'd be blown away at a place I go to get my teeth drilled, but this place proved me wrong! I have seen both Dr. Kim and Dr. Park; they both offer very caring attitudes and a gentle demeanor every time I've been in. They have a way of really listening to what I am saying and doing their best to address my dental concerns. I also don't feel like they try to "sell" or push dental treatment I don't need, as a previous dentist I used to see would do, like a used car salesman. And how the heck are they so good at giving anesthetic?? I literally didn't see a needle, nor did I feel any discomfort during my filling procedure! On top of all that, I do find it very difficult to get in for cleanings. Their hygienists are the best I've seen (so far)--especially Andrea! I've already sent my hubby here and intend to send anyone else who asks! read more

The hygienists were very very nice. Dentist: Expensive and unreasonable. I did the exam, the deep cleaning xrays and wanted to come in again for another cleaning 7 months later after being very diligent about flossing 2-3 times a day (but had slowed down in the recent month). I just wanted to be extra diligent and pro active. She would not let me get another cleaning with out a high priced appointment only 7 months from the last. I didn't have the extra cash nor would I have been able to afford any extra dental work . Her attitude was charge it. Yeah well income to cover the bills is a concern. . . I had no complaints really about my teeth, so I canceled. She wouldn't talk to me either, just talked through her office staff. Turned me off completely. She seemed a bit greedy in this economy where people are having a hard time affording dental work. I guess Dentists in general are like this. Sad. My friend had a terrible experience after recommending I go to Dr Parks. She did the wrong tooth and had to redo Gold Crowns. OMG! What a mess! read more

I went to Dr. Park after my insurance carrier dropped my prior dentist. I found her in one of those "Best of Dentists" Seattle magazine stories. After initially taking a look at my teeth, she began discussing replacing all my prior older fillings (paid for and working fine, thank you very much) and then talking budget with me still in the chair. My mouth was hanging open, and it wasn't because I was getting any cleaning, flossing, or polishing. I was asked to come back for the cleaning at a separate appointment. I researched very quickly and found another dentist and cancelled my appointment. . I relayed the story to my new dentist and he told me my older fillings were functioning just fine, and that he would let me know if and when they needed replacing. My wallet is much happier as well. read more

I don't review much, but when I do, it's because I'm freakin' impressed. The people at Fremont Dental are by far the finest team of dental professionals I've ever encountered. When I called to schedule my new patient appointment, I mentioned that a friend had recommended them to me. The woman on the phone asked what friend it was, looked them up, and asked if I wanted to schedule my appointment with the same dentist. I was surprised that she would take the extra effort to do that! Totally impressed. When I came in for my new patient appointment, all the staff members I met were incredibly nice and professional. They thoroughly explained everything that they were doing inside my mouth, and Dr. Kim broke down the suggested treatment plan and payment in a way that was super easy to understand and with total honesty. Love it! I've been back for my first cleaning already, and again, the lady who worked on my mouth explained everything she was doing, and even showed me some tips and tricks for better flossing and brushing. Dr. Park is a great dentist. She's knowledgable and most importantly, very gental. I remember the first time she gave me a shot, I honestly did not feel any pain. I asked her what her trick was and she said it's a combination of things including warming the anesthetic. That's one example of making the extra effort for the patient's comfort. Dental care is never cheap. With Dr. Park, I feel she does not recommend any frivolous care. She always explains her recommendations and gives me options when available. Excellent dentistry, delightful people, and always a personal, friendly experience. I've come to know Fremont Dental as a place that upholds friendly, professional, efficient and informative communication. Reception staff know your name as you walk through the door, scheduling a visit is a breeze, and they are fantastically quick and clear regarding any expected costs and insurance benefits for your needs. Hygienists seem to work effortlessly in conjunction with, and anticipating the needs of, Dr Park herself, (I don't know Dr Kim), and always have some good gossip or news to tell you when all you can do is blink or nod. Dr Park has a delightfully calm, thoughtful and informative manner that has given me the confidence I'm getting great advice and great dental treatment. (A periodontist I had to visit was also complimentary of Dr Park's proficiency.) I chose this office because it was compatible with my insurance, close to my house, women-owned, and the dentists had a good amount of years of experience.
