    lettuce wraps to go
    Cindy L.

I've found some more dishes I love at Mister Chen: the lettuce wraps (which they give you a LOT of filling for when you order delivery/pickup) and the crispy shredded beef! Will keep updating the more I go (which is alot btw. Still my favorite soup dumplings of all time.)

Nice space and great location, just doesn't deliver the correct flavor on the food. I ordered the salt and pepper calamari and it did not look right, batter issue. It should be light and airy, but it was thick. I did like the fried onions and garlic thrown on top though. The shrimp and pork wontons in spicy chili oil fell flat. The chili oil and wontons lacked flavor and the wrappers were not soft. Sigh... you may fare better sticking to basic Chinese American fare, but that was not what I wanted. I wanted to pike this place, but can't. My son ordered the roast pork mei fun and enjoyed his food. Service was good and prompt.

Based on recent reviews and my two most recent visits, this place seems to be in a steady decline. Aside from a couple of good apps (the rock shrimp and scratch-made soup dumplings are both excellent), their main dishes have lately been very underwhelming. But the bigger issue is the service. Most of the employees, at least during our past two visits, have been late teens/early 20s, and it shows. There was confusion with our order, drinks were forgotten, dishes were coming out at random times, and we were asked by different staff members on multiple occasions if we wanted to order and if we wanted the check after another staff member had already done so like five minutes prior. Staff seemed somewhat overwhelmed, but the place was nearly empty by 8:30pm. My friend has sworn by this place for years, but after our most recent visit he said he'd never come again. I agree.

Really enjoyed my trip here on a recommendation from my brother. The buns are a can't-miss! I love that they tasted fresh and were cooked to order. I had the pad Thai and it tasted delicious, I wish I had more peanuts offered in the beginning. Everyone in our party enjoyed what they ordered, very happy we stopped here.

Peking Duck Sandwich ($9) - a little small but good

We were deeply, pleasantly surprised by our latest delivery from Mister Chen. It will not be the last! I was scared even to get the soup dumplings since I've had a lot of awful experiences ordering delivery soup dumplings. It's obviously not the preferred method of consumption. However, the ones we got were the best I've had since moving from Queens. It's pricey, but I'd gladly pay it again given the quality. The mapo tofu was a little divisive in my household, but I thought it was quite good and closer to authenticity than I've had at other establishments. It was decently spicy, too. (My partner said it tasted like tea. I'm not sure what he meant by that.) I'd say the Dan Dandan Noodle ($9) was good but not my fave. Good price for the size, though.

Service was good, 红烧牛肉面 was very good and the 蟹粉小笼包 was fantastic. We've sworn by this place for years now.

Came here for dinner before a movie on a Friday and it was a really good choice! We didn't have a reservation but we did get seated as soon as we arrived. Def busy for a Friday! I knew I had to order the soup dumplings so decided to order it as an entree. The scallion pancakes were good too! Would definitely be returning here!

I have very nice lunch here. Soup dumplings are fantastic! I ordered basil chicken and my friend ordered steamed chicken and broccoli with garlic sauce on the side. The wonton soup that came with the meals was very good. Food is good, but portions are small. We used to take home half the lunch special and now we eat the entire thing. Higher prices and smaller portions.

I was not a fan of the cold miso dressing that was over the pickled veggies and I love miso. Womp womp. Next time, I'll skip the dressing and also try the bao buns. Given that there is not many ramen shops in New Rochelle, I would consider coming back here. I also had a kimchi bao bun, and it was amazing. This is something I would consider coming back for. Shoutout to the staff, Jhosue, for supporting me as I navigated through the menu. He is knowledgeable about the popular items on the menu and even considers what kind of flavors I lean towards before making a recommendation. I appreciate the patients like the staff here. The scene is this somber night in the Japanese lights. It's a cool vibe and nice aesthetic. I enjoy the Japanese feel of the wall art and the moody lighting in the bar. This place would be fit for a casual dinner solo or with some friends. I am a harsh grader. Ani Ramen earns a 3atar from me because although the ramen was good, it was rather smaller than what I've seen in many other ramen shops. Additionally, I would be confident to say the ramen is average. The service was excellent, and the scene is calming in the dimmed bulbs.

But while I waited for a fried seafood dinner order not far off on Mamaroneck Ave., I thought stopping here would be good. Ugggh. I was impressed with Mercurio's pasta supply. An additional item of note, freezers are clearly labeled, pasta is all frozen and there's a good assortment of convenient Italian pre-prepared, pre-packaged pasta+ meat, pasta+veggie filling meals AND more. The Spinach Lasagna (bought for my mom) and Butternut Squash Ravioli (for me) were easily my two top picks. I also picked up Mozzarella Sticks and non-meat Italian red sauce. As an avid seafood lover, I noticed a few seafood-filled pasta which will probably get some other time. I don't think price was bad at all- then again I can't gauge it with anything else. CA$H only- by the way. Even though I didn't make a big buy, by the time I left, I was way past the maybe-I-should-watch-what-I-eat. But I'll enjoy... now.
