Zero rating. Never got to eat there because they are too special to take orders over the phone. Tried using their website but it took 20 minutes to place order. Website very amateurish and impossible to use. After entering all info required message was "credit card not recognized". HUH. Called and person who, one could barely understand, said only online orders. Perhaps they don't realize it but there are a lot of unemployed people around. Lived in Scarsdale and have never had such stupid service ever. Hope they go out of business soon. read more

I'm not sure why there are so many favorable reviews. Perhaps this was an off day for the kitchen staff and serving staff, but I did not enjoy this meal. The soup broth was extremely salty, the dumplings overcooked and soggy. The main courses we had were equally disappointing. My shrimp in basil sauce was bland, the shanghai noodles were way over salted, the soup dumplings just okay. The service was lacking, I had to try to hail a server for water at least twice, and not because the staff was busy, since the restaurant was nearly empty. We didn't know they were serving dinner outside as if you were doing takeout food, plastic containers, plastic knife and fork with paper plates. we could've taken it home and eaten graciously. They did not even pour a glass of water but charged $1.50 per bottle. We could've gone across the street and bought our own water. unfortunately the wait staff didn't get anything right. My friend sent her dinner back and didn't eat at all. Mine - there was confusion over the term peapods versus snow peas. The staff did not feel obliged to change the dish for the correct vegetable. Tried it last night. Food was decent -- it was fresh. Didn't like the fact that there was garlic in steamed veggie dumplings. Shrimp with vegetables steamed with sauce on side was okay -- sauce was bland. At Hunan Larchmont, you get 8 shrimp for $17 -- here you get 7 for $20 and they weren't as large or as tasty. So happy this place exists in Mamaroneck. I never used to crave Chinese food but I literally dream about the braised beef noodle soup here. Like my mouth is watering just thinking about it. I've also had their pork noodle soup which is good, but the broth from the beef soup is sooo much better. The pork soup dumplings are delightful, better than the crab option but try both at least once. My boyfriend and I have been 4 times now and the service is always excellent. We've also ordered once for pickup and everything was packaged well, including the soup (noodles packed separately from broth so they didn't get soggy), and the soup dumplings traveled well surprisingly. Our other favorite dishes are the shredded beef with hot pepper and three cup chicken. Solid general tsao's chicken as well. Definitely a great addition to Mamaroneck Ave! read more

It was my first time going to Mister Chen. Went on a Saturday night which was a bit packed. Didn't have to wait too long. But unfortunately was sat underneath a vent that was blasting very cold air. So that wasn't too great. It was unpleasantly cold so waiting for the food was a bit of a pain. Well I had ordered steam pork soup dumplings and my girlfriend had ordered vegetable pad Thai. Well it took a long time for the pad Thai to come out. And little to our knowledge there was egg in the pad Thai. My girlfriend could not eat egg. There really should be descriptions about the foods they have. Then we had to send it back and wait again for another pad Thai without egg to come out. Well once we tried the food. It was pretty bland. The dumplings really didn't have much flavor to it. And the pad Thai was flavorless. They did have a side of hot sauce and some soy sauce but not even that could make the food tasteful. Overall I would say I would not recommend this place. I only gave it a 3 star because the people were nice and the restaurant was very nice as well. The food not so good. read more

Disappointing! We were so hoping Mister Chen would be a great new addition to Mamaroneck Avenue, but sad to say, this was not the case. Simply put, the staff was barely attentive, my beer came in a glass that smelled like soap and my wife's dish was bland, flavorless and just simply not good. A relatively poor experience... The food was mixed - pork buns were extremely tasty but chicken was rubbery, chewy and tough in spots. The food was hands down EXCELLENT!! I got the General Cho's Shrimp w/shrimp fried rice & my daughter got the kids meal (Egg Fried Rice w/ chicken tenders). She was full & kept eating because she didn't want to waste her food, lol! You could taste the freshness of the food & the portions were beyond fulfilling. I must say the hostess Becca was very welcoming, down to earth, genuinely kind & overall AWESOME! She came & checked on our table often which I truly appreciated. As for my waitress she clearly isn't a ppl person . She didn't even say hi, just "you ready to order" never once smiled or asked how the food was or did I need anything. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Westchester. It provides authentic Chinese dishes, if you know what to order. Their soup dumplings, read bean paste cake and Turnip puff pastry are so good that we went there every week for several weeks after we found out this place. I read the reviews and decided to give it a shot. Our appetizers arrived promptly, but we never received our main course (we waited an hour). I asked our waiter a few times, but he never had an answer. Finally, I explained the situation to the hostess and asked for the check. She simply handed me the check without an explanation or apology. I hope that they were just having a bad night, but it certainly did ruin dinner out with my son. read more

Soup dumplings were the best that I've had in Westchester. Really enjoyed everything that we ate, but aside from the soup dumplings, the pea pod shoots and beef lo mein stand out. This remains our favorite Chinese restaurant in the area since it first opened. The soup dumplings are outstanding, and the seafood dishes also stand out. (Although the dish is Thai and not Chinese, their Pad Thai is very good also.) Though it gets busy, and delivery can sometimes be slow, the food arrives hot.
