This was the worst Chinese food I ever had, I am in my seventies and I had a lot of Chinese food. The beef and broccoli didn't taste like beef at all.(or lamb or pork). It was disgusting. The dumplings had a pea-size filling, the rest was a doughy inedible mess. My daughter had ordered chow mein which didn't resemble chow mein, just a mess of cabbage and some white stuff we couldn't identify. The whole order landed in the trash can. 5 stars out of 5: Hunan III is consistent, QUALITY chinese food with great flavor. It is now my families go to chinese delivery spot after I found out that they actually deliver to Mt. Vernon too (It is 100% worth seeing if they will deliver to your area as most of us can't afford to live in Bronxville). Hunan III's menu has so many great options, even the pickiest person will find themselves struggling to choose only 1 meal. Being able to look forward to trying new food and having must have items makes this establishment worth turning into your go to spot. APPS: You MUST get the steamed dumplings, Boneless spare ribs, and spring rolls. They are so deeply satisfying. I would have gave it 5 stars for that alone. The Szechuan dumplings had great unique flavor unlike any other establishment but they are wrapped smaller then normal dumplings, so they provide 10 to compensate. These are great to split amongst a family. Soup: Their wonton soup is superb. The crispy noodles that come with it are reason alone to try out Hunan III. I find myself ordering bags of them even if I don't order wonton soup that time. White rice: The white rice is good. Fried Rice: My whole family marveled at the superior quality of this fried rice (when comparing it to what we were getting from other establishments). If you love fried rice, Hunan III will not disappoint you. DINNER We have had several of the chef speciality's and each time we ordered our dinner conversation quickly turned into just how great the food is and people asking to try each others food. (hunan duck, Hawaii Five O, 7 stars around the moon, shrimp and beef hunan style, triple delight, and general tso's delight are what we have tried so far and my family highly recommends them.) It is worth mentioning that their shrimp size are substantial. From the normal menu we had the crispy beef w/ garlic sauce and I have to say it is good enough that it should be on the chef specialty menu. Crispy Noodles: Their crispy noodles are amazing so be sure to order them as they only come with a soup order. If you do, then ask for extra duck sauce (if you like to dip) to get the full experience. Customer Service: The woman I dealt with on the phone and in person is nice. The establishment is clean. It is predominately a delivery spot, so I would disregard the overly critical yelpers who expected way too much in house service from an establishment that only has 1 table. Hunan III always arrives on time (even during busier times) and the order is always right. That is what matters. Price: The price is worth it. I have been craving Peking duck for a couple of weeks but was too lazy to drive to Chinatown to get some. I decided to look up a place near me that makes it and I'm glad I found Hunan 3. Located in Bronxville (which is about a ten minute ride for me) I was glad because I knew my food would still be hot by the time I got home. I have come here many times and it seems there is always an issue. I ordered delivery this evening and they got the order COMPLETELY wrong. The directions were "no vegetable (no bamboo shoots)!" They sent an order of just shoots- maybe one piece of chicken and like 3 cashew nuts. When I called they said I can have a free one next time but would not come back today. When I complained she said she would give me a double credit for next time (double typically means two). I called back to see if they could credit my card instead, as this whole thing makes me not want to order. She told me no and that I can have one free order next time. When I placed my order and I specifically told Angela that I am allergic to mushrooms and I can die from them. After I heat of my order and about to eat my food I noticed mushrooms in the order. When I called Angela to let her know that I cannot believe there were mushrooms in my food her response was the following "oh how long did you place the order ? Was it four hour ago? Hold down I have another call". Ordered for delivery: low marks mainly because the woman on the phone was rude and raised her voice at me several times. The food is just OK, but a little better than the other (kinda greasy) Chineese food place nearer to my house, which shall remain nameless. Now, im a pretty nice guy, and I was speaking on a wired headset, not bluetooth, so I'm pretty sure she should have been able to hear me ok, but it seemed like she was having a lot of trouble and getting very frustrated. Here's how it went: When I ordered the mu shu vege, she barked, "small or large". So I asked her how many were in a small. She was incredulous, and yelled at me, "do you want me to count all the cabbages?!" I was confused, but politely said no, but I wanted to know how many mu shu wraps came in a small order and how many came in a large order. She snapped, "2 in a small, and 4 in a large", which was finally helpful, but rude. Delivery was incredibly quick (20 mins!). When the driver got to the door, he was pleasant, and when I wanted to pay by credit card, and called the lady at the restaurant who took my card over the phone with no drama.
